Exporting Drill-Down View

.Net 2008 and Crystal 2008 SP2.
When the viewer shows a drill-down view, using
myCrystalReportViewer.ReportSource.export()
exports the main report rather than the drill-down view.
I can't use the simple approach of
myCrystalReportViewer.ExportReport()
because I need to feed the export format and file name in code (without showing the standard dialog triggered by the line above).
Any ideas on how to address this issue?
Thanks,
- Ido

Hi Ludek,
myCrystalReportViewer.ExportReport() does export the current drilldown view.
My question is: is there a way to pass the export format and  file name to that control to avoid the export options/destination  dialog.
If you can confirm that there is no such option, it may make sense to suggest this as a feature for a future release.  An even simpler option would be to add a myCrystalReportViewer.ExportReportEx() method that doesn't prompt for export options and instead uses the export options specified for the Report Document object.

  • Programmatically print current page in a drill-down view

    VB.NET 2008, CR 2008
    Calling the PrintToPrinter method of the Report Document allows me to print a specified page to the printer.
    However, there doesn't seem to be a similar method that allows specifying a page for the viewer control.
    Is there any way to programmatically print the current page displayed in the Viewer, even when the view is a drill-down view?
    Thanks
    ido

    Hi David,
    Thanks for the quick reply.
    Perhaps I didn't explain myself clearly enough.  I can't use the reportDocument.PrintToPrinter() method because that method completely ignores the fact that the viewer control is currently showing a drill-down view.
    For example, if the viewer is showing Page 1 of a drill-down or on-demand subreport, calling reportDocument.PrintToPrinter() would print a page from the main report, not from the drill-down view.
    So, the question is: can I print a specified page from the Viewer control (not from the ReportDocument object).
    Thanks,
    ido

    My Enviroment: CR XI, Delphi,  ActiveXReportViewer Hello together,how can I export the current view or a drilled down report with the COM object.I didn't find a way to get the current view object (IReport) I think  there must be a solution, because the default export method can export the current view.Thanks Rainer

    My setup isn't exactly the same but this might help you:  I had this problem with Crystal.Net in Visual Studio 2005.  This link helped me resolve it.  http://diamond.businessobjects.com/node/1956
    My export routine used to just export the ReportDocument object.  But this object does not contain any information on the currently displayed group level.  So when I built a report modeled very closely after the sample 'World Sales Report.rpt' my export routine would only export the main view even if I was drilled down into other group levels of the report.  I learned that the CrystalReportsViewer object is what contains the drill-down level in the ViewInfo.ViewContext object.  So the link above solved this for me.
    As a side note, I also had to manipulate suppressing and unsuppressing sections on export which can't be done via the CrystalReportsViewer object.  So I had to save a copy of the current ViewInfo object to local variable.  Then I modified the ReportDocument object to unsuppress and suppress certain sections.  Then I set this modified ReportDocument object as the RecordSource of the CrystalReportsViewer object and passed as parameters the new NonHTTPCachedReportSource object and the saved ViewInfo object to my new export routine.  This allowed me to preserve the drill-down view properties but apply it to a different ReportSource.  I can supply (c#) code if needed.  ( I don't usually show the ReportHeader or PageFooter sections in my online view of reports but I need to show them when I export a report)...

  • Drill Down Report using Crystal reports in eclipse and jspviewer

    Hi
    I want to understand how to write a drill down report since I have a requirement for my project, so I tried to run the sample drill down.rpt that is available with Crystal Reports 2008 Complete Reference book by George Peck.
    I can see the results correctly( i.e. can drill down) in the preview tab . Since I am working inside the eclipse, the way I run the reports is first  "Create report viewer JSP" by right clicking the report and have a url mapping to this jsp. I am running the reports from a hyperlink that maps to the url which will launch the jsp.
    the jsp is:-
    <%@ page contentType="text/html; charset=UTF-8" pageEncoding="ISO-8859-1" %><%@ taglib uri="/crystal-tags-reportviewer.tld" prefix="crviewer" %><crviewer:viewer reportSourceType="reportingComponent" viewerName="Drill Down-viewer" reportSourceVar="Drill Down" isOwnPage="true" allowDrillDown="true">
         <crviewer:report reportName="reports/Drill Down.rpt" />
    </crviewer:viewer>
    The one that was created by  "Create report viewer JSP" did not had "allowDrillDown" attribute at all .But I added it since it isnt working.
    So when I launch my web app and click on the link to run the report, I get the report results but only to the summary level. When I double click the summary level I get a 404 error page.
    Can please anyone suggest what is going on.
    Thanks
    poonam

    Ok. So, you added the report to the project. Now we have to add the CR assemblies to the project, add the viewer (if need be) and fire it off. Simplest code would be:
    Public Sub New()
            ' This call is required by the designer.
            InitializeComponent()
            ' Add any initialization after the InitializeComponent() call.
            CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = ("path to report")
        End Sub
    In this case you are using the viewer SDK to runt he report. The report will prompt for any logon parameters - but you can code these also. You can load the report via the engine as bellow. Again, the report will prompt. I prefer to use the engine as it is way more "extensible"...
    Public Sub New()
            ' This call is required by the designer.
            InitializeComponent()
            ' Add any initialization after the InitializeComponent() call.
            Dim crReportDocument As New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument()
            crReportDocument.Load("path to report")
            'Bind the report to the viewer
            CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = crReportDocument
        End Sub
    If you have a report added to the project (strongly typed) the code would be:
    CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = New myReport()
    For more details, I'd recommend looking at the sample app vbnet_win_simplepreviewreport.zip available from the following location:

  • Drill Down Report issues in VS 2010, CR viewer 12

    We are using VS 2010, Crystal Reports 12 with Crystal Viewer 12 control called from a C# programmed page frame.  Several Drill Down reports are developed with CR 12 service pack 1 and then deployed onto the server.
    These Drill Down reports work great within the viewer.  But Two critical issues have been discovered,
    1.     With the drop down report, the next /last page buttons work on the main page, but it doesnu2019t work on any of the drill drop sections.
    2.     The print / export functions work on the main page.  Using the print / export functions from the Drilled down pages reverts back to the main page, not the drill down page that is being viewed.
    Has anyone else seen these issues and know of a fix.  Wondering if it might be something in the viewer settings within the .net or the version of viewer ?
    I have viewed the CR .Net API Reference but probably due to lack of .net knowledge, seems overwhelming  to me.
    Thanks

    Hello,

       CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.ExportOptions expOpts = new CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.ExportOptionsClass();
       expOpts.ExportFormatType = CrReportExportFormatEnum.crReportExportFormatPDF;

       ByteArray tempByteArray = rcd.PrintOutputController.ExportEx(expOpts);
       Byte[] byteStreamOutput = tempByteArray.ByteArray;
       // Create a new file(MyExportedReport) with the specified path, name, and file extension.
       FileStream fs = new FileStream("C:\\Windows\\Temp\\MyExportedReport.pdf", FileMode.Create, FileAccess.ReadWrite);
       // Stream the bytes from the exported report to the newly created file and close the file stream.
       int maxSize = byteStreamOutput.Length;
       fs.Write(byteStreamOutput, 0, maxSize);
       fs.Close();
       MessageBox.Show("Export is done in C:\\Windows\\Temp location");

  • Drill down tab won't print in CR10 viewer

    We are developing in CR 10 and our ERP system uses the CR 10 viewer to display reports to our users.
    I have several reports that display a summary on the main page with the option to drill down for more details.  The data is grouped, and the detail section is hidden unless the user drills down.
    When our users try to print the data on the drill down tab in the viewer, the Preview tab prints instead.  I have verified that the drill down tab is active at the time of printing, and still no luck.  The weird part is that I can open the report up in the designer software, and it prints correctly.  As a workaround, we are having the users export the data to Excel and print from there, but we have some executives who are not quite computer literate and do not like going through all these steps to print something out.  So my questions are:
    1)  Is my report improperly designed to allow this functionality?
    2)  I have the option to upgrade to CR XI.  Would that fix the problem?
    3)  Are there other design choices I should consider that would provide similar functionalty?

    I don't have the answer to your problem but I can tell you what happens from our application.
    If I drill down on a report using the crystal viewer, whilst viewing the drilldown report I have 3 possible print options.
    1) File > Print ( this prints the main report )
    2) A print icon we have added to our application (also prints the main report).
    3) A print icon on the viewer itself ( this prints the drilldown report)
    So my only question/suggestion is can you also see a print icon on the viewer header itself. If not you may need to make some alteration in the code to display this if it is a property you can change.
    This isn't something I get involved in, but someone else reading this may know.
    Good luck

  • Drill down report export to pdf

    Hi,
    I have a drill down report that i need to export to pdf.to get the drill down facility, I used 'HIDE' option for the groups.
    The drill down works in crystal.But when I export the crystal report to PDF, I could not see the hidden groups/Tabs, and my drill down doesn;t work.Please suggest me what to do while exporting a drill down report to PDF. Is it possible to export a drill down report to Excel?Can someone suggest the precaustions to be taken while exporting to different formats??
    Thank you,
    Tatyana.

    Drill-Down behavior in Crystal doesn't carry over to pdf exports.
    Using one of the 3rd-party Crystal Reports schedulers listed at http://www.kenhamady.com/bookmarks.html you can achieve similar behavior in pdf exports by automating the process of:
    1. exporting the main report to main pdf.
    2. Bursting a detailed report to individual pdf files
    3. using Crystal formulas embedded in the main report to generate live links from the exported main pdf to the individual detail pdf files.

  • Exporting a Report to a pdf file with drill down!

    Hi,
    I would like to export a Report to a pdf file.

  • Viewing reports with Drill Down option

    Hi all, here is the complaint that we received:
    Please try to find a means to help!
    When I’m in my Report and when in an account and I go to a deal to alter or look at it, when I return to reports I always am driven back to the top of the report file. If I’m in December and looking at the entire year I have to go through all accounts once again to get to the same starting point. A great irritant. I can’t help but think that there is a better way.
    Anyone know if this can be changed? Thank you in advance!!!

    Sorry, let me explain...
    The problem isn't with the report, they have issues with what happens after you drill down into the account from the report and go back to the report.
    When they go back to the report after adjusting the account/opp it doesn;t go back to what they were looking at, the view will go to the top of the report. Say they were looking at Account #100 out of 250 (250 total accounts in the report), if they drill down into account 100 and then go back to the report they will be taken back to account #1.
    Is that more clear?
    What they want is to be able to go back to the view of Account #100.

  • Master detail view with drill down

    I am trying to develop a simple app for my Ipad. This app is supposed to have a Master/details look and should behave similar to the native Mail app (2x levels of navigation and the last level updates the details view).
    My problem is that I am not familiar to Apple IOS development so tend to get stuck all the time so I prefer to follow a tutorial or start with a sample project. I have searched for hours but I always either get a pure navigation drill down project without the details view or a pure master/details project with only a single level of navigation. I tried to take these projects and modify them but my knowledge sadly is very limited and I did not succeed.
    So can anybody direct me to a tutorial or a sample project where a Mail like app is being built with more than 1 level of navigation ?

    I have a GridBagLayout panel with a jtable and some jtextfield Well, we don't know exactly what constraints you have set up to its hard to say exactly why its happening.
    In general, you should create your JTextField using new JTextField(int) and I think the problem will go away.
    An easier solution would also be to use different LayoutManagers to achieve the desired layout.

  • URGENT!! Drill Down Error with Character Set non-ascii on Discoverer Viewer

    Hi,
    We have an error in a Drill down. It comes up when the Discoverer Viewer tries to process data that contains special character (non-ascii) in a query's filter. The same report that does not perform well with special characters, does perform well if the data don’t contains special characters, so it seems to be an issue processing non-ascii chars in this Discoverer Viewer instance.
    Ex. FIELD_NAME = 'öÜæäé (This filter is contained in a query that this getting an error msg="We're sorry, the server encountered an unexpected condition" ).

  • Drill down to a report with a select view

    I have a report with a select view on a column... In this column I have coded a navigation to another report that has some details and also has a select view on the same column.
    a) The only way to make this work is in the construction, using the view edit screen, the select view, select the option, save it... and then in the criteria, code the navigation.
    This had to be done to every option.
    b) Since the target report has also a select, whenever you navigate from the original report, the detail report is displayed "as it were", in respect to the select column... The target report is filtered by this column (I am using "is prompted") It would be nice if besides the filtering the select could show the select that comes from the original report... It is not working like this... The user has to select again (column selector) to see it like the original one...
    Sorry, it is a bit confusing...but I´d appreciate any help.

    I dont think about drill down, but try with navigation using common columns. in this way we can have both side navigations summary-> detail and detail->summary.

  • Discoverer Viewer - Drill down option

    Dear all
    I created a report in discoverer desktop, with drill down option for financial information.It works fine in Disco Desktop. All the drill down options are working fine as well. But the same report when run in disco viewer, it has got an option for drilling down further, then another option for collapse(with the blue button) - to view the summary value.
    When the collapse option is chosen, the blue color button disappears in Viewer and wouldnt know how to drill down back without reloging into the application.
    Could you please help me how to solve this problem, as I need to share this report with users who has viewer access only?We are using 9i at the moment.
    Thanks.

    Hi Russ
    I have heard folks having awful issues with IE 7. It seems to mess up everything Oracle. Sounds like Oracle and Microsoft have some hurdles to cross. For now I would advise everyone to either stay on IE 6 or use another browswer like Firefox.
    To answer the specific question posted here, it is possible that the user has hit one of the well known Discoverer bugs wherein Discoverer Viewer cannot properly execute workbooks created in Desktop. There are fixes and one-off patches available for this in MetaLink but these patches all require a password to download them. I would advise the raising of a service request and in the request spefically ask if there is a one-off patch that will fix this.
    Best wishes for now

  • Drill down error on Viewer

    Hi, I'm having an error on Discoverer Viewer (Release 4.1.44) when I try to Drill down on an element. The drill down functionality works ok, except when the drill down elements are too many and needs to be drawn on Next Page. In that case I got an error ("The page cannot be display").
    Anybody had that problem, or knows why it is happening?
    Thanks in advance
    Ivo

    Though I cannot say without investigating this if this is a bug or due to some other issue, the first advice would be for you to upgrade to the latest patchset, 4.1.48 or later. There is a good chance that this issue, if a bug, may have been fixed in a subsequent release.
    The other option would be to take a look at Metalink.Oracle.com and see this issue has been reported earlier.
