Exporting to widescreen issues

Hello.
I have FCE 3.5 and am having a problem exporting wide-screen footage. I have an older Panasonic MiniDV (standard definition) camera that records in widescreen (16:9). However, even when I import in anamorphic, Final Cut still exports with the black bars on the top and bottom of the video. In FCE I have the clip and the sequence set to anamorphic. I would like those black bars on the top and bottom of the exported video gone because they will eventually be on Youtube and youtube will add even more black bars to make the video appear much smaller than it actually is. How can I export without the black bars?
Thanks

You have edited into a 4:3 sequence not a 16:9 sequence. Change your preset to DV anamorphic and make a new sequence. Copy and paste the content of the old sequence into the new sequence. Select all the clips in the new sequence and use Remove Attributes to reset the distort function. You may have to redo any motion effects you created.

  • Having trouble exporting a widescreen...

I recently made a short film by capturing video game footage off my PS2.
The footage I captured was Full Screen, but I had the game set to widescreen,
    which stretched everything out vertically.
After I had cut the footage together I ticked the anamorphic box in the sequence - settings area. Immediately my Full Screen footage was displayed in the viewer as perfect widescreen. It looked awesome.
I exported it, put it on IDVD...suddenly it's Full Screen again. I've tried multiple tweaks but I can't seem to export my Widescreen version. What simple thing am I not doing to accomplish this?
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks!

Wow, that looks great! The movie actually looks better than the 'full quality' dv, and it's a quarter of the size!
    .. you got tricked (punkd?)...
DV is by far superior in quality, it is miniDVs and iMHD6 native internal codec..
    but..
read and see the pics, David Babsky's providing in this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9781245
h264 is mainly meant for playback - not for editing, as DV is ..
and a playback codec should be smaller..
mpeg2 are smaller too.. but not meant for editing either..

  • 'Vector' Distortions when exporting to widescreen in AE CS3

    Hi
I'm sure this is probably quite a simple issue, but i am new to AE and cannot find the answer to this anywhere. Basically i am exporting my compositions to use as widescreen for DVD. The exported video footage looks fine but any non-video elements used seem to 'quiver and shake' - examples of this are AE text, imported jpg logos and vector lines created and masked from within AE. I accidentally exported as best settings on one occasion rather than DV - this gave me a 'squarer' video file but it did render the  'distorting elements' perfectly.  This is also the case when i export as a flv. file - wrong proportions but quality render of the 'distorting elements'. As an aside, is it possible to export the composition as a widesceen flv file?
The settings i am using are detailed below (at default settings)
Render setting is DV settings and my chosen outpout module is Microsoft DV PAL 48khz, my composition settings are Preset: PAL D1/DV Widescreen (720 x 576)   PAR: D1/DV PAL Widesceen (1.42) and the Frame Aspect Ratio is 16:9.
As i said i am new to this so it well be that i am not using the best settings for this task.
Thanks in advance for any help that can be given, Tom

Your vector artwork from Illustrator should be interpreted as Square Pixels. It's highly unusual for Vector artwork to be anything else.
Anything you brought in from Photoshop or other image editing program should also be interpreted as Square Pixels unless you specifically created the artwork in Photoshop as non-square using one of the Photoshop Presets.
The composition you set up for rendering should be created using one of the presets. It looks like you're either using NTSC DV Widescreen or NTSC D1 Widescreen. Maybe you're in PAL land and using PAL D1/DV Widescreen. Make sure that you don't resize anything in the Output module.
In the composition window, if you have Pixel Aspect Ratio Correction turned on your footage will appear as it will when you look at on a TV. Nothing will be distorted, but there will be some ugly aliasing artifacts in the comp window because of the onscreen interpolation of the pixels. These artifacts will not show up in your render. If you don't like looking at the aliasing problems then you can turn off PARC in the Composition Panel and put up with the distorted (squeezed) image.
The way you keep things undistorted is to interpret the PAR of each asset in the Project Panel as it actually is and let AE do the PAR management. AE will usually guess correctly with footage (video). It may miss widescreen tags so you'll have to watch for that.
AE will always guess incorrectly for Illustrator or Photoshop artwork that should be square pixels but is created at a standard non-square image size. IOW, if you create artwork that is 720 X 480 pixels it will always be interpreted as NTSC DV pixels. The only time this is correct is when you intentionally create your artwork using this preset. I personally think that this seldom a good idea and only do this on rare occasions.
    I hope this helps.

  • Export to excel issue

    Hi All,
Kindly help me in solving this issue.
Portals report layouts can be customized. When the user chooses to export
the customized reports to Excel, only the standard layout (hard coded
layout for each report) is exported to Excel and all the customized columns
    are not exported.
C&RM is planning to use the portals aging report for performance metrics,
collection and identifying the over 90 items for collection rep. The
standard layout for the portals aging report is missing the BP# and
    Collection rep name.
Choosing right click, select all and copying to Excel, the format of the
    report is lost.

Hook method called to modify a view just before rendering.

The Web Dynpro programming model recommends that UI elements can

Hi, I finally found the issue which was causing the numbers stored in text format issue. While exporting data to Excel programatically if any of the cells precede with a special character like -. = etc.. the data which is exported after that starts behaving in a peculiar way. So removal of any such special characters resolves the issue.
    Hope this helps..

  • Web App Designer Export to Excel - Issue

    Hi Gurus,
I was able to sucessfully configure export to excel feature in WAD. However the issue we are encountering is, we have a button which runs a script function, this manupulates data in some columns of the report. So when I perform export to excel after the script function is excuted, the export gets the old state of data and not the data after the script function is run. Is there are way to fix this issue. Please advise.
    Thanks Again!

    Dear Customer,
WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) is not supported on Export to Excel.
If you are using some script AFTER data comes to screen, you will NOT see the effects on Excel.
This is documented in the note:
1178857 - Additional information: Export to Excel functions
    " Layout
o  Currently WYSIWYG export is not supported.
Sorry to not provide a better solution.
    Best regards,
    Edward John

  • Export Excise Invoice issue

    Hi,
I have one scenario where in export invoice excise duties are not getting capture...
    Example:
Customer is using ECC 5.0 with TAXINJ procedure where plant 100 and 200 maintained ,different material code are maintain for two plant x for 100 and y for 200.one excise group D1 for both plant ,series group S1 for 100 and S2 for 200,one shipping point P1 for both plant.
Now I have created one export sales order with both materials, x from plant 100 and y from 200, here everything is fine till billing
    Export Sales order
    item material qty plant
    10 - x - 10 - 100
    20 - y - 10 - 200
System is capturing everything properly till billing document means BED,ECS and HECS but when I will create excise invoice in J1IIN with the reference of billing document then system is not capturing BED and HECS ,only ECS is captured.
Why this is happening? Any solution, please suggest........I have checked all CIN setting I believe everything is fine...
    Regards,
    Vipin

  • Lightroom 5 Exporting and Plugin Issues

Hello Everyone ! I would like to express my gratitude in advance for any advise or solutions the adobe community might provide me with these issues.
I've been using Lightroom 4.3 for the last year with no issues. I decided it was time to try out Lightroom 5 and it's new features. So I installed a trial of 5.6 via creative cloud .  When I launched 5.6 it required me to update my catalog, which I did and didn't encounter any problems with the update.  The first problem I encountered occurred when I attempted to export an edited raw file. The export  progress bar stays at zero and never completes the export process, if it helps anyone , the files I am exporting to JPEG are Raw Nikon D600 files. If I attempt to do anything else while Lightroom is stuck in the export process , the program will become unresponsive and  I'm not even able to kill the process via windows task manager. My second problem is the Plugin manager , on Lightroom 4.3 I use the Smugmug upload plugin . On 5.6 the plugin manager crashes every time I attempt to setup the Smugmug plugin. I've tried other third party plugins and those cause Lightroom to crash as well so I don't believe it's just the Smugmug plugin. I've tried every possible solution I was able to find doing web searches but nothing has worked so far...
The following is a list of steps I took to try to resolve the issues.
-In the export screen I made sure that "Do nothing" was swtiched to "go to explorer" in post processing
    - uninstalled all plugins
    - Unistalled and reinstalled Lightroom 5.6
    -Uninstalled Lightroom  4.3 (perhaps a conflict ?)
-Created a new catalog and imported new files to that catalog
    -disabled firewall and antivirus
    - Tried various JPEG re-sized dimensions
    - Tried to export to various Drives ( local, and external drives)
-Ran Lightroom 5.6 as an administrator
    -Deleted Preference File
Hopefully everyone can see I've tried my best to find a solution but to no avail , it's quite frustrating since I really want to upgrade to 5.6 .  I hope someone can provide a solution or point me in the right direction ! Sorry if this post is too long!
    Computer Specs

I never had a problem with it in LR4. The example I gave was one of many options I tried. At the other end I asked it to produce smaller files (eg 1500pixels long edge) with a 1000k maximum and I could only get them to output at around 160k.
I have since realised that I neglected to mention that I was using LR/Mogrify2 plug in to add a text graphic to the images. I experimented with turning that option off and I was able to produce a 2500px long edge file at 996k. As soon as I turn that option on again the file ouptuts at 1600k (where I have specified at 1000k limit).
This was never a problem with LR4 so there is a conflict or a bug somewhere.
Is anyone else using a LR / Mogrify 2 plug in and experiencing unpredictable results? I have the option to use LR / Mogrify 2's version of ImageMagick checked.

So I just did further testing. It seems that LR5 cannot control the maximum file size when working with Lr / Mogrify 2. If I ask the plug in to resize the image and control the maximum file size I can produce a file with long edge 2500pix, 1000k maximum size and the text graphic with no problem at all, as I used to be able to do with LR4. I will contact the plug in developer and see if they are aware of this.

  • CR XI R2 pdf export font size issue

Exporting a report to PDF using Crystal XI R2 seems to be reducing the size of the fonts. When printing directly from CR and exporting to PDF and printing from the PDF viewer the font sizes are smaller. Any ideas on what I can do to correct the problem?

    Please refer following SAP note:
Business Objects Notes Get Help | Close
1220516 - Font size decreases when report is exported to PDF from Crystal Reports XI or Crystal Reports XI Release 2
Language   English     Version   1     Validity: 07.05.2008 - active

Content:    Summary   |   Header Data   |   Other Properties
    Symptom
In Crystal Reports XI and Crystal Reports XI Release 2 the font shrinks by approximately 10% when a report is exported to Adobe Acrobat Format (PDF).
    Cause
This behavior is due to the way Windows and UNIX, and therefore Crystal Reports, handles low point size fonts on a low-resolution screen. Text layout in the absence of a printer driver will consistently be rendered differently than in PDF.
Crystal Reports currently shrinks the font by 10% to prevent any truncation this difference may cause.
    Resolution
CAUTION The following resolution involves editing the registry. Using the Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall the Microsoft Windows operating system. Use the Registry Editor at your own risk. It is strongly recommended that you make a backup copy of the registry files before you edit the registry. For information on how to edit the registry key, view the 'Changing Keys And Values' online Help topic in the Registry Editor (Regedit.exe).
    To resolve the behavior
Set the resolution of the default printer of the local computer experiencing the issue to 1200 DPI. Most printers have a default setting of 600 DPI.
Create two registry keys to prevent the crxf_pdf.dll from decreasing in font size.
Click Start > Run. Type "regedit". The Registry Editor appears.
Create the following keys for Crystal Reports XI with the defined values:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports\Export\PDF\ForceLargerFonts
    Type: DWORD
    Recognized Values: 0,1
    Default Value: 1
    Creation Method: manual
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports\Export\PDF\ForceLargerFonts
    Type: DWORD
    Recognized Values: 0,1
    Default Value: 1
    Creation Method: manual
Set both registry key values to 1 to turn them on.
Create the following keys for Crystal Reports XI Release 2 with the defined values:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Suite 11.5\Crystal Reports\Export\PDF\ForceLargerFonts
    Type: DWORD
    Recognized Values: 0,1
    Default Value: 1
    Creation Method: manual
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Business Objects\Suite 11.5\Crystal eports\Export\PDF\ForceLargerFonts
    Type: DWORD
    Recognized Values: 0,1
    Default Value: 1
    Creation Method: manual
Set both registry key values to 1 to turn them on.
In UNIX, an X server client such as x-win32 must be installed. Add the keys as follows:
    Launch the X server client.
    Source <bobje install>/bobje/setup using env.sh (for example: ./env.sh).
Create the registry keys as detailed above.
Restart the Report Page and Cache Servers.
    ====================
    NOTES:
If using Windows 2003 Server, upgrade to Acrobat Reader version 8.0 or higher as well as creating the above registry keys.
Use the appropriate path to access the UNIX regedit as follows:
    AIX: <bobje install>/bobje/enterprise115/aix_rs6000/crpe/mw/bin-aix4_optimized/regedit
    Sun Solaris: <bobje install>/bobje/enterprise115/solaris_sparc/crpe/mw/bin-sunos5_optimized/regedit
    Linux: <bobje install>/bobje/enterprise115/solaris_sparc/crpe/mw/bin-linux_optimized/regedit

  • Lightroom 3 Export to JPEG issue ( please help) (photo attached)

    Hello,
I have been going crazy trying to solve this issue and can't find a solution. I am using Lightroom 3.4.1 on a Mac running 10.6.7. In Lightroom I am editing raw images from a Canon 7D. I tweak and adjust the images to my liking but when I export them as a JPEG at full quality using color space sRGB my jpegs do not look like my adjusted photos in Lightroom. The biggest missing factor is all my "detail" adjustments. Sharpening ect. The colors are slightly less vibrant but the huge issue is the sharpening I do that disappears. Can anyone help me with this? I will supply an example below. On the left is the jpeg and on the right is the grab from Lightroom. I am viewing the jpegs in preview and don't have photoshop. Thanks in advance for any help!

When you export from Lightroom and you do not select the resize option, you will get the full resolution from your original image. This contains far more pixels than your screen can display as displays are very low resolution devices (typically only around 100 ppi). When you open the resultant jpeg in an image viewer, it will have to downscale from that. Usually many times. This necessarily introduces blur and the result will strongly depend on the chosen scaling algorithm. Lightroom uses a fairly good one to downscale and it shows you a preview of a properly output sharpened image at the size you are looking at. Preview uses a particularly bad one. In preview if you want the screen pixels to correspond to the image pixels, you need to hit apple-0 (or use the view menu and select "actual size"). In Safari and Firefox, you need to click on the image to zoom in to actual pixels.
Your comment also makes me realize that you do not really understand the sharpening in Lightroom. The detail tools in Develop are meant to optimize what is called capture sharpening. These should NOT be used to optimize sharpness at the fit view level, but only at the 1:1 view level. They operate basically on the image to correct for image blur that comes from the sensor's antialias filter and for a small amount of lens blur (say when you are diffraction limited owing to use of large f-numbers). Do not zoom out and play with the detail setting. Zoom into 1:1 on certain areas and optimize the sharpening. There are many tutorials on the web that explain this. Then when you go to output your image, you need to apply another sharpening, called output sharpening, at the final size, in order to correct for blur introduced by the output medium such as a printer or a display and by rescaling the image. The print panel has this built in. In the export panel, the options are in the lower tabs. You need to rescale the image to your final size (for example, a 533x800 pixel image is typical for a good web sized image). Then also apply the correct output sharpening in the tab below it. Typical would be to sharpen for screen at a standard amount. I showed some comparisons on this around the LR 2 timeframe here: http://lagemaat.blogspot.com/2008/08/on-output-sharpening.html The output sharpening has improved by quite a bit by now from those examples, but they show the general idea.
    Hope this helps.

  • Export to PDF Issue (SSRS 2012 with Integration SharePoint 2013)

Problem Description: We have an operational report that returns around 43,000 records, based on a stored procedure.  The Stored Procedure itself runs pretty quickly (under ~15 seconds). The report renders in 20 seconds.
However, we get an error like “Sorry, something went wrong” (see below) approximately 2 minutes after we choose/select the PDF as a rendering extension for export. The download of the .PDF never starts.

    Things Also Done
    1) I also tried exporting the report through excel and found no issues (it exports successfully and no issue when i open the file). The size of the exported excel (.xlsx) is 4.28MB. The timerendering value for export to excel is approx. 77 seconds.
    2) I also tried creating email subscription (PDF as the rendering format) for that report and it works successfully. The size of the attached PDF from the email is approx. 1.43 MB. I can also open that PDF file with no issue. And the size of the email with
the attached PDF file is approx. 1.48 MB.
That all said, we would like to seek for your assistance to determine what is causing the failure of exporting the report to PDF issue directly from the reporting site. (Let me remind you that the email subscription for the same report with attached
    PDF works with no issue)

    Hi roel2000,
According to your description, you get error when exporting the report into PDF. It works properly when exporting in excel or PDF format within E-mail subscription. Right?
In Reporting Services, the Excel and MHTML(e-mail subscription) render extensions are soft page break renderers. The PDF render extension is hard page break renderer. It has different render behavior between these two kind of renders. This might cause the
error. Since we are not clear about your report structure, please refer to rules in the link below and do the troubleshooting.

If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • Batch Exporting File Naming Issue

I have to batch export about 30 images at a time, but I am having an issue now that the "Export" piece of the action includes a specific file name in the "save in" property, where as it's supposed to only include the name of the containing folder. This causes all the images included in the batch to be saved with the same file name thus saving over the previous export each time. I cannot figure out how to execute the Save for Web and devices action without it recording the specific file name.
    My process is:
    - Open one image
    - Create a new Action (it begins recording)
    - Crop the image
    - Save for Web and devices (I leave the file name as is, but save it to a different folder) Ex. "annoying_child_screaming.jpeg"
    - Close without saving
    - Stop the action
    - File > Automate > Batch
    - I select the source folder with all the original photos
    - Specify a Destination folder (a different folder where all the cropped ones will be)
    - I don't select any checkboxes
    - File Naming: I leave the default "Document Name" + "extension" Starting serial#: 1
When I hit okay, I can see Photoshop going through each image and doing the specified actions, but instead of preserving the original file name, it saves each one with the file name that I saved the first one when originally creating the action (Ex. it rewrites "annoying_child_screaming.jpeg" for each file)
I just upgraded to CS5 from CS4 (where I hadn't been having this problem). I have compared my settings to a coworker's who's computer it does work on, but we can't figure out what's wrong. The difference is in the Export details in the Actions dialog box - where it has the "IN" property, usually only a folder location is specified, but on my comp, it also specifies the file name.
    Please help.

When you record the save for web step use the original file name
(you noted you did that in post 1)
Is the name you used the same as the file
you opened when recording the save for web step?
Don't specify any destination in the batch dialog or the files will possibly
be overwritten and you'll see the results your seeing.
The destination is the folder you specified during the save for web step while recording the action.

  • Exporting A PDF issue

I've built an dialog window (figured out my issues with the ui from the last post). I'm having a problem exporting a file via a button "export"
when I leave the code outside a function, it works fine. Builds the PDF with the preferences on build of the dialog.
    with(app.pdfExportPreferences)
            exportGuidesAndGrids = true;
            exportLayers = true;
            exportNonPrintingObjects = false;
    myDoc.exportFile(ExportFormat.pdfType, new File(myPath+"/filesname.pdf"), false);
When I put it in a onclick function, or call a named function from the onclick I get errors. What am I doing wrong, and How can I get it to work with a button selection?
       Thanks

Well I'm using extendscript toolbar, Im not getting any error messeges just an orange bar telling me where the errror is (tried to find that to turn it on so I could actually know what the error is)
We can assume that the window is open. The button in the window trys to call the function while its still open. Can I have a widow open and export? I did try a close as the first command for an onclick function, followed by the eport but it still gives me an error

  • Continued Widescreen Issues/Questions

From what I gathered, there is no solution to having our widescreen movies to show up widescreen on a dvd. I tried some of the suggestions, but none have worked. If someone knows a clear easy step solution, starting with exporting from iMovie (what exact expert settings or can I just use full quality), please, please let me know.

You can try the expert settings. I just did. Seems to work. Here are the dialog boxes you'll need to address:

  • IOS4 TV Out Widescreen Issue

I am having an issue with my 3g iPod Touch after upgrading to iOS4. I have several docks around my house connected to my tvs through video cables and they are all widescreen sets. Before when I had the widescreen option in the video settings it automatically formatted the video for my widescreen tv. Now that option does not do that... in fact, it does not do anything at all. I have tried it both ways on all my tvs with the same result.
    Is this another iOS4 bug?

I did a complete restore on my iPod Touch and no dice... the widescreen setting still has no functionality whatsoever. I decided to purchase a composite cable (I have been using my dock with the s-video connector in the back) to try it out with that and see if it worked and still the same problem.
I have been lucky enough to not have any huge problems with it except for this but I feel frustrated for all of the people who have had really serious issues. I find this to be very unlike Apple... You would expect this sort of thing from Microsoft.
I must also add that I called Apple Support to kindly report this issue to them (I also emailed but I would like this to be fixed sooner rather than later so I thought I should take the most direct approach). After explaining the problem and that it was only something that had occurred since upgrading to ios4 the representative that I spoke to asked me if I knew how to operate the widescreen setting on my television and suggested that I simply stretch the picture to fill the screen. When I told her that was not an option she was confused and suggested that I take the product in to be repaired (on my dime). Embarrassing.

  • Import widescreen quality video exports not widescreen, cropped, low qualty

I ripped a dvd vob files to mp4. Each mp4 is high quality and widescreen. I import them to iMovie and they are still high quality and widescreen (the clips in the bottom). When i add them to the project they are no longer widescreen, the left and right sides are cut off, and quality is much worse. I have tried widescreen 16:9 and 4:3 in the project properties, but they don't help. 4:3 is worse of course.
So does anyone know where do i change settings so imovie keeps same quality and aspect ratio of files in the project to the imported clips? Is there some advanced setting somewhere? There is nothing in project properties except the widescreen/4:3 option and i cant believe this is all we get. I don't understand why iMovie is cropping my clips and reducing quality. The output .mov file is even bigger than the 4 x mp3 files added up!
    Thanks a lot

Sorry should have been more clear... I am not combining the two different files, so they are not in the same project at the same time. I tried importing them seperately to see if there was a difference. I think one may have been converted to mp4 using Video Monkey and the other HandbrakeCLI. Cant remember which for each video. I have different formats because I have been trying different methods of conversion to find the best ones because I have other .mp4s from home made AVIs from a DV camera which I just cannot get all of them into iMovie, iTunes and iPhoto (reported on another thread!).
But for some reason it is working now as stated. Do you think if changing Project settings I need to re-import the videos? I deleted the copies from the project, then deleted from the Events, then re-imported the same .mp4 files (both of the ones I listed) then re-added to the Project and it was widescreen and high quality as I wanted. So I wonder if I originally had 4:3 then changed to 16:9 but needed to re-import them all??? OR I have made a complete b*lls up and imported the wrong low quality file in the first place, but am sure I could not have done that.
As for the ripping, I used MacTheRipper. The DVD probably is copywrite protected, its just Rambo. Its a purchased DVD so wanted to put it on the Mac in my library to play with AirPlay (am new to all this so experimenting). I dont particularly care if this breaks the license as my belief is I paid for the DVD so I can put it on my computer to watch there rather than the disc everytime. As long as I dont give the copy to anyone else.
Thanks for your advice though, appreciate it and will try it out next time I spend time on this (which has been far too long than is necessary!). As stated cant believe the issues I am having with iMovie for what should be something plain simple. Not just this issue but the other issue I reported in another thread is actually driving me far more nuts than this one!
    Thanks
