Extension connecting to the same database

I extended a SQL VO and for testing had it run in Development instace. Now the instance is down for clone. I had to change the SQL Query and while trying to run it, it errors with could not establish the connectivity even though I have the changes made to the project settings to connect to another instance. Where all do I need to change the connection?
Thanks,
Hari

I am not sure what your question is..but when you move to a different instance all that you need is to define the new instance's connection. I am not sure why the old connection information in jpx stays despite the fact that we change it in the project settings.

  • Multiple HTML DB connecting to the same database, in error

I am having a problem getting the HTML DB application in instance TMSQA to connect to the TMSQA database; it connects to the TMSDEV database. I have tried setting the connect_string under DAD_HTMLDB in wdbsvr.app in both TMSDEV and TMSQA to their corresponding IP addresses and hostnames. But when I connect to HTML DB via my browser using either IP address:7777/pls/htmldb or hostname:777/pls/htmldb in the URL, I always connect to TMSDEV.
I have one physical server called ORATEST3 at IP address 172.31.243.33. It is divided into 2 virtual servers:
    TMSDEV:
    IP address - 172.31.243.53
    ORACLE_HOME - /db/tmsdev/u01/app/oracle/product/9.2.0.5/
    HTTP Server - /db/tmsdev/u01/app/oracle/product/9.2.0.5/Apache
    TMSQA:
    IP address - 172.31.243.72
    ORACLE_HOME - /db/tmsqa/u01/app/oracle/product/9.2.0.5/
    HTTP Server - /db/tmsqa/u01/app/oracle/product/9.2.0.5/Apache
Does anybody have any idea as to how to setup the HTML DB in each instance to connect to it’s corresponding database?

    Hi all,
    Sorry for replying late.
Thanks @Dude, Nelson Calero, indeed it helped me!
I could recover database multiple times from a same snapshot and thus I would like to share my findings.
Found that when we recover database with RESETLOGS option it actually starts a new database version called Incarnation of the database. Once this new branch is started we can recover database from old backup only till the SCN point where we performed DBPITR. After that point, snapshot/backup becomes orphaned backup.
If you want to recover database from the same old backup we have to reset the database to the incarnation number when snapshot/backup was taken using following command:
RMAN> RESET DATABASE TO INCARNATION 2; (considering backup was taken at Incarnation 2)
Also, If current controlfile is missing you need at least one backup of current controlfile. It is mandatory as after resetlogs, sequence number of log file changes and you cannot recover database from any available backup.
To make sure that latest control backup is always available please enable the AUTOBACKUP feature of the database which backs up the controlfile and spfile on any database change event.
Again this is the lesson for those who don't know much about AUTOBACKUP.

  • Help needed!!: Running two the same Ifs services on the same database.

    Hello!
I would like to know if it is ok to have started two LibraryServices at the same time on the same database.
    For example:
One LibraryService that is using "IfsDefault.properties" and running on default Apache Jserv (default IFS configuration).
Second LibraryService that is using the same "IfsDefault.properties" (the same database) and running on Tomcat.
I wanted to connect to LibraryService that is already started, but I have read in the documentation that I can do this by finding LibraryService, but only when it is running in the same process. So to have access I have to start my own service connecting to the same database as one that is already running in Jserv.
Is it ok to have such configuration?
Or maybe there is allowed only one LibraryService for one database?
    Can somebody help?
    Piotr Walendziak

you can have multiple LibraryService instances, each pointing to different databases, or all pointing to the same database. LibraryService instances are name-unique, however, so you must give each one its own name. also, they can all be active in the same process (JVM).

  • It's possible connect different gis software to the same database

    hi,
i´m quite new in Oracle, and i supose that the question is so stupid, but....
I want to know if is possible to connect to the same Oracle Spatial database with Arcgis, Microstation, Autodesk Map, etc.
    Thanks

If you truly have a need to have multiple GIS packages in the same environment you would probably be more successful with a central repository of spatial data at the center of a hub and spoke configuration.
Each GIS package would sit at the end of a unique spoke with data in the data model of the vendor - not compromising any functionality of the GIS.
Each spoke would connect to the hub with a flow of data back and forth between the GIS and the respositary.
Those GIS packages that 'play well' with spatial can utilize simple triggers to keep their data in synch with what is in the central repository.
Those GIS packages that don't 'play well' (or those that augment the power of Oracle spatial with extensions to the data model, or those that add additional functionality with custom ETYPES) can use ETL routines to keep their data in synch with what is in the central repository.
ETL or triggers should include data validation/data quality checks to avoid corrupting the repository or storing invalid data inside of it.
This way you can keep your data models reasonably intelligent and translate (with semantics) data as it moves from the spokes to the hub and vice-versa.
This allows you to choose the best editing GIS, the best web delivery GIS, the best analytical GIS, the best cartographic and map production GIS (etc) without crippling the functionality they offer with a 'lowest common denominator' data model.
You could also use this same idea with web services (which is where the IT interoperability problem is being solved). A web service sits as the semantic translator between each GIS solution and the central repository. Some GIS packages claim better performance and/or functionality with their own data models and their own data storage mechanisms (and there are some merits to these claims) so the web services approach allows this with a central Oracle Spatial respositary.
*SAFE (the company referenced above in the thread) is the industry leader in spatial ETL and has very easy to use and powerful semantic translation tools.  It is interesting that many of the GIS vendors actually use the SAFE technology to power their own 'interoperability' functionality.

  • How to share the same Database Connection when using several Task Flows ?

    Hi All,
    I’m using JDev 11.1.1.3.0.
I’m developing ADF Fusion Applications (ABC BC, ADF Faces…)
These applications are deployed on a Weblogic server.
Each application has only one Application Module.
All Application Modules have the same connection type defined: JDBC DataSource : jdbc/GCCDS
    It is working fine.
I’ve also developed Task Flow Applications for small thinks that are reused in multiple main applications.
Each Task Flow Application has also one Application Module with the same connections type as main applications.
All these task flows are deployed to JAR file (ADF Library JAR File) and are reused on my main applications. (drag and drop from the Resource Palette to ADF Regions….).
There are some parameters passed to Task Flows, so that they can filter data depending on which main applications they are called from.
    Everything is working perfectly.
All my main applications are using more and more task flows. Which is nice for the reusability etc…?
    Only ONE PROBLEM: DATABASE CONNECTIONS.
Every Task Flows service made a database connection. So one user may have 10 database connections for the same adf page. And when there are 100 users that are working at the same time, it becomes a problem.
How to share the same database connections for the main applications and all task flows which are used in the main application?
    Best Regards
    Nicolas

    Hi John,
When I open a ADF Library JAR file of one of my task flow. (gcc_tf_recentSites.jar)
    I can see TF_RecentSitesService.xml and TF_RecentSitesServiceImpl.class in gcc_tf_recentSites.jar\mu\gcc\tf\recentSites\model\service folder
    + bc4j.xcfg in gcc_tf_recentSites.jar\mu\gcc\tf\recentSites\model\service\common folder.
    bc4j.xcfg details are
    +<?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'UTF-8'?>+
    +<BC4JConfig version="11.1" xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/bc4j/configuration">+

So, it seems that the Application Module is packaged with the task flow....
    Is it normal ?

  • Multiple OLE DB connection managers to the same database instance in a SSIS package

    Hi,
While migrating DTS package to SSIS package, I came across one which had multiple OLE DB connection managers all connecting to the same Oracle schema in the same instance.
There are that many execute SQL task corresponding to each of these connection managers.
Each of  these SQL task call different Oracle stored procedures and executes them in the same schema in the same instance.
My question is, is there any particular reason or advantage in having multiple connection managers?
Can't we have one single connection manager and use the same in all of these SQL tasks?
Does multiple connection managers provide any added advantage like parallelism or something?
In this particular case, there are no actual workflows, rather each of these SQL tasks are stand alones. But there are other packages which has SQL tasks in workflow but still each of them calling separate connection managers all calling the same schema
    in the same instance.
    Thanks for your time.
    Cordially, Biju George

Well like I said, each of  these SQL task calls "different" Oracle stored procedures even though executes them in the same schema in the same instance. I tried a sample testing by creating two separate packages, one with only one single
OLE DB connection referred in all of the SQL tasks and in the other one with mutiple OLE DB connections to the same schema in the same instance each of which is referred in each of the SQL task in one to one mapping.
Now the first one created one session in Oracle but the later created as many sessions as there where OLE DB connection managers. The first one took longer to complete than the second one since second one created independent sessions and executed those procedures
    sort of parallely.
I guess that can be called an advantage of creating multiple connection managers to the same schema in the same instance.

  • Creating a database link to another schema in the same database

    Hello,
I'm trying to create a database link to another schema in the same database. It was created without errors, but when I try to use it I receive "ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified" message...
I'm trying to do it because on my production enviroment the databases are separated, so there I can use database links without problem, but in my development environment it's all in one database separated by schemas...
So I'm trying to simulate the same system to not need to rewrite the query every time I move from development to production environment.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Yes, you can create a database link to your own database. I've done it before for exactly the same reason you want to.
(By the way, I think it's a good reason. What are the alternatives?
Having different versions of code for Development and Production? Absolutely not! Terrible idea!
Using synonyms or substitution variables that are set differently in the different databases? That might be more efficient than a database link, but efficiency probably isn't such a big issue in Development.
[Conditional compilation|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28370/fundamentals.htm#sthref250]? This might be good; it has all the efficienty of the above options, with more clarity.)
Assuming you do want to stick with a database link, not all errors are caught when you create the link.
Is the Development database in the tnsnames.ora file of the Development server? Do you have other database links, either in the Development server or pointing to it, that work? What is different about the ones that work, and the one that doesn't?
Edited by: Frank Kulash on Oct 14, 2009 1:58 PM
The more I think about this, the more I agree with the earlier respondent: synonymns are a good solution for this.
    To that suggestion you replied:
On this way I might use "select * from SCHEMA.table" instead of "select * from table@SCHEMA"... I looking for an option to use the second way...Actually, the suggestion was that you say:
    select  *
    from    SCHEMA_table_ptr;where schema_table_ptr is a synonym.
In Development, that synonym is defined as schema.table.
In Production, that synonym is defined as table@SCHEMA
Why are you "looking for an option to use the second way"?
If you think that people reading the code should realize that the query is being done via a database link (at least in Production), then add a comment.

  • Database link to the same database

I'm trying to create a database link to the same database.
It doesn't seem to be working ...
basically, the target system will have 2 separate database instances.
I need to emulate this in a single instance database (actually, I don't want to try running 2 oracle instances on my laptop...).
so I want to do select * from fred@MYOTHERDB
when I try and create the alias it succeeds, but then selects don't work.
Lets say my current logon / schema is JOHN (in ORCL) and the other SCHEMA (in ORCL) is JIM
    I tried
    create public database link MYOTHERDB connect to JIM identified by "Password";
    creation worked, couldn't access it.
    Thanks in advance
    Iain

The machine with the database has tnsnames.ora as
    # tnsnames.ora Network Configuration File: D:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_1\network\admin\tnsnames.ora
    # Generated by Oracle configuration tools.

    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = ORCL)
    ORCL =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = xplaptop.mshome.net)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =

    (SERVICE_NAME = orcl)
    EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = PLSExtProc)
    (PRESENTATION = RO)
and the local (TOAD) machine has
    # TNSNAMES.ORA Network Configuration File: S:\Oracle\product\NETWORK\ADMIN\tnsnames.ora
    # Generated by Oracle configuration tools.
    INVMAN =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =

    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = INVMAN)
    INVMANLAP =
    (DESCRIPTION =

    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = idc-server)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = ORCL)
Now I've tried this both from TOAD and from iSQL on the machine with the database.
It's INVMANLAP which I'm using from the TOAD machine, of course!
I appreciate your help. It has been the only bright spark in a DREADFUL day (among other things the IDC-SERVER mentioned above has a trashed system disk which has taken out email and my main oracle server). And I have to install this system tomorrow!

    Hi,
We have had several customers report this after installing DPM 2012 R2.
To get past the below error while scheduling reports to be mailed.
Reporting Services Server cannot connect to the DPM database.
To repair the configuration, follow steps for repairing DPM from DPM Setup Help.
     ID: 3001
Perform the following steps as necessary:
    1. Created a new local group called "DPMDBReaders$<DPMServerName>"
    2. Created a new user called, "DPMR$<DPMServerName>" and added this user to DPMDBReader group that we created on step 1.
    3. Open SQL management studio and  add the DPMDBReaders$<DPMServerName  group to Logins under Security in SQL Management Studio.
    4. Modify the properties and under General – change the default database to the current DPMDB name.
    5. Under User Mapping – select the current DPMDB name and check the db_datareader checkbox.
    6. In SQL Management Studio, navigate to the Databases > DPMDB > Security > Users > and select the DPMDBReaders$<DPMServerName>" group.
Right-click the DPMDBReaders$<DPMServerName>" group and select properties. Under the
Securables section, click on Search. On the add objects dialog, click OK.
On the Select Objects dialog, click the Objects type, then check the
stored procedure checkbox. Browse and add the following two stored procedures
“Prc_MOM_Heartbeat_Get” and “prc_MOM_ProductionServer_Get”.    Grant the Execute permission for both of the stored procedures added.
    7. In SQL Reporting Services Configuration manager, under Report Manager URL - click on the link to open the portal (http://localhost/Reports)
          i. Click on the DPMReoprts_GUID to open the DPM reports.
          ii. Click on the DPMReporterDataSource
iii. On the poperties page, enabled "Credentials stored securely in the report server" on DPMReporterDataSource configuration page and added “DPMR$<DPMServerName>” user account that we created in step 2.
iv.  tick "Use as Windows credentials when connecting to the data source."
          v.   Click ‘Test connection’ on the same page to verify whether it can connect successfully.
    8.  In SQL Reporting configuration manager - change the Service Account to use build-in account: Network Service
    9. Reboot the DPM Server.
    10. You should then be able to schedule e-mailed reports.

  • REP-501: Unable to connect to the specified database in Report Server

This application does not fail in other databases, only in which I have the problem.
The connection to the database through the SQLPLUS and other applications works well. The error is presented only when calling reports from the application.
Another point is that the problem is presented with some users and not with others even they have the same conditions as roles, profiles, grant objects, etc.
If i run my report with the following url applying directly on address bar of web browser then it run fine on web browser
    http://hostname.domain:port/reports/rwservlet?report=myreport.jsp&userid=un/pw@db&destype=cache&desformat=PDF
OAS 10g and Database are on different machines.
Please... any idea about this problem?
    Thanks!!

I use a report object, imagine that sends connect information when creating the Job in the reports server.
    However the same problem happens if I call to report from the Internet Explorer with all parameters of connectivity, for example;
    http://hostname.domain:port/reports/rwservlet?report=myreport.rep&userid=un/pwdb@&destype=cache&desformat=PDF
The only difference in this database is that it is configured in a RAC and as I mentioned the problem occurs with some users and not with others, even if they are identical.
    Thank for your help!

  • Getting Error when trying to connect to the Primavera database. PPM V7 SP3

    Hi Guys,
Caused by: org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'mailService' defined in class path resource [com/primavera/bre//com/primavera/bre/integration/intgconf.xml]: Invalid destruction signature; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.support.BeanDefinitionValidationException: Couldn't find a destroy method named 'destroy' on bean with name 'mailService'
I have looked into the intgserver.jar under P6IntegrationAPI/lib and looked the com.primavera.infr.srvcs.MailServiceImpl.java and can see that there is no destroy method whereas it is defined in the com.primavera.bre.intergration.intgconf.xml as below
    <!-- provides mail services -->
    <bean id="mailService" class="com.primavera.infr.srvcs.MailServiceImpl" init-method="init" scope="singleton" destroy-method="destroy"*+>
    <property name="adminManager"><ref bean="adminManager"/></property>
    <property name="threadPool"><ref bean="threadPool"/></property>
    <property name="settingsManager"><ref bean="settingsManager"/></property>
    </bean>
I get the above error when trying to connect to the Primavera database. I use PPMV7 SP3 and I have installed the Integration API from EPPMV7 bundle.
    My demo's are working fine.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kajal.

    Hi Marc,
I am using a userid (is an admin)
Using global login method and provided userid & password in integration settings.
In the machine profiles, provided userid, password and domin.
    Not providing domain in weblogin.
With all the above I am still getting error "Could not authenticate the specified user. %0" for HFM application
And with the same settings I am not getting any error to connect to essbase cube.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

  • How do I connect to the backend database?

I have both the infrastructure and the mid-tier installed on the same machine. I have created an omniportlet with specific connection information (username/password/connection info) to connect to a back-end (customer) database. Is this the correct methodology to use for connecting to the back-end database? I am concerned that when the portlet is moved to a production system then the connection information will be invalid and the portlet will not work.
Also, I have created a dblink to the backend database in the PORTAL schema, which exists in the iasdb (also sometimes referred to as the infrastructure repository, infrastructure instance). The iasdb obviously also holds the metadata repository. I can use this link within a DAD to connect to the backend database. My intention was to use this link to get round the problem of invalid connection info when the development system is moved to production, but the link does not work with omniportlets.
I am confused as to how the backend database is connected to by OAS. Can someone please explain to me how this is done in a system which has separate machines for client, infrastructure, middle (portal) tier and backend database?

Managed to figure out that I just have to let tnsnames resolve this issue.

  • Linking A LOT OF Tables in the same database

    Hi,
Following is what I have been doing:
THE FOLLOWING STEPS ARE DONE PERIODICALLY (like every 30 seconds):
Get data from a database above a certain time stamp in a resultset
Select some rows based on ceratin values of certain columsn in the resultset
Change numbers to words and words to numbers in the selected rows using other tables in the same database
Display this info in a table.
    Problem:
My program is working but it consumes an enormous time when it has to link those selected rows with other tables to get corresponding values. Once I have made a resultset of selected rows, whats the fastest way to change row fields in the result set to corresponding values in the other table.
Any iideas of even putting them in a table in an effecient manner would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi atlantisLoveAngel,
I see you are new to these forums. In my opinion, it's not good practice to post exactly the same question to more than one forum, and you have posted this exact same question in the JDBC Forum.
As you can see, a lot of the people who visit these forums do check more than one of them, so it doesn't really increase your chances of getting a reply when you post the same question to different forums (even if you change the subject slightly).
I'm not sure if this will help you, but in case you haven't already seen it, perhaps the article entitled Christmas Tree Applications from the Swing Connection may be relevant?
    Good Luck,
    Avi.
