External connection problems as developer not user

I am working on an app,
so logically, I wanted to continue work while on business trip.
Apache configured for Port 80 rather than default Port 7777
APEX 2.2.0.x pls configured from APEX to HTMLDB
From the lan before departure these worked
http://{static_ip}/pls/htmldb login app dev
http://{static_ip}/pls/htmldb/htmldb_admin login workspace manager
http://{static_ip}/pls/htmldb/f?p={appnumber}:1 login app as user
I opened firewall to accept port 80 from hotel external IP
to the static IP of my firewall NAT'ed to the HTMLDB server
From the hotel,
Remotely, I can log onto the app as user
http://{static_ip}/pls/htmldb/f?p={appnumber}:1 login app as user
But I can not log in as app developer or workspace manager
http://{static_ip}/pls/htmldb login app dev
http://{static_ip}/pls/htmldb/htmldb_admin login workspace manager
also tried http://{static_ip}/pls/htmldb/f?p=4450:1
Any ideas on trouble shooting this situation.
I hope MS Internet Explorer 7 is not the cause.
Added the static_ip to trusted sites list.. no change

Hi
First - should it be https?
Second - try 4550 instead of 4450 for admin access

• IChat 5.0.3 video connection problem one computer not another

I have MacBook Pros about same age, both upgraded to SL, running 10.6.5 and side by side. Airport Extreme home wireless network. iChat bandwidth set to 500kbps on a Comcast cable internet. MBPro#1 can video/audio chat (one way) with PPC in the house and its Connection Doctor setting is "Router type: Full cone". MBPro#2 cannot connect for video/audio chat to MBPro#1 although the camera comes on and you can select "Accept" in the video window; however, the connection thingie just spins until failure. On that machine the Connection Doctor setting is "Router type: Unknown" with its message about something up with the network preventing video/audio chatting. Both machines have Sound input and Sound output settings identical. Text chatting is fine. Video chat attempt to the [email protected] also fails due to connection error. Other wireless activities, such as downloads, internet, etc. work fine on both machines.
- I have reinstalled SL from the install DVD and then upgraded to current OS version from the 10.6.5 combo upgrade .dmg.
- I have replaced the plist files with ichat in their names from MBPro #1
- As far as I can see, settings are identical in all the System Preferences locations (including firewall), but the two machines differ of course in the iChat Connection Doctor readout. Applications on the two machines are not identical.
Perhaps there are other files I need to find or change but I am at a loss to get MBPro #1 video chatting -- MBPro #2 in contrast was absolutely smooth to get going.
I've looked through a number of the iChat Discussion topics but did not come across this particular situation of two machines, one working and one not with the same router -- forgive me if my search terms did not find them. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Ralph
Thanks for the reply.
The Terminal command is certainly showing something significant. The log for the iChat AV incapable machine is pasted below per your instructions. The end of the paste is as far as it goes. I see that it is different from the iChat AV capable machine ie for that computer there are positive tests to BWD commands and checks for audio and video network come up positive, plus more data come after the CommNAT line.

• Broadband connection problems - IP4V address not m...

After 2 telphone calls to tech help & 1 very loooong online chat I'm no further forward to solving my problem - so hoping that somebody here can assist please. I only returned to BT last month and one PC that is connected to home hub via TP Link AV500 powerline will work for a day or so and then randomly disconnects and is very hard to get reconnected again (usually invlves resetting home hub & powerline + much switching on /off) Took 3 hours today to reconnect. It transpires that the IP address on the PC is different to the BT one & nobody so far has shed any light on how I can put this right. Have been through a number of basic diagnostics with the BT tech helpline ie: disabling/enabling settings etc but no joy. If any one can help please that'd be fab.

Do you mean the local (LAN) address on the PC is different?
Have you set up your PC with a fixed address on the LAN (in network configuration) rather than with DHCP?
That could be what is causing confusion; especially if the fixed address is one that can also be allocated as a dynamic address by the HomeHub.
Most powerline adaptors just act as switches and don't have any extra routing capabilities (such as NAT or DHCP). If your powerline does have such options try turning them off and leaving all the address details to the HomeHub.

• Doubts concerning External Connection Pool

A few questions:
1. How can I set up an external connection pool with toplink? or in another words, assuming that I have successfully configured a connection pool (and a datasource) on my weblogic app-server, how do I configure Toplink to use the same?
2. I am trying to achieve the above (refer point 1), by defining my custom connector (by extending TOPLink.Public.Sessions.DefaultConnector). The custom connector provides connections using the dataSource.getConnection(). Now, the question is
- Where will the pooling happen in this case? i.e. Will Toplink use its own connection pool (populate its own connection pool with container managed data source), and issue connections (container managed) from there or will it make use of the container managed pooling (and ask for connections from the container managed pool, as and when required)? The subtle difference being, weblogic will not be able to validate a connection before issue in the former case.
3. This question is similar to point 2, but talks in terms of a practical example. Assuming that if I am using the custom connector successfully in my code, then if I pull out the network cord and reconnect again, I expect the container to provide me with a valid connection (as weblogic can be configured to perform a validity check on a connection before issuing). I am getting a 'connection reset by peer' error in my application (indicating that either the container fails to provide a valid connection, or toplink does not use the container managed pool effectively). I guess, Toplink still uses its own pool but this time it is pooling container managed dataSources. Since the connections are issued from Toplink and not container, here is no validation/reconnection happening for the connection, before issue. Please comment if I am thinking in the right direction or not. If not, how you can explain the above failure?
4. My aim is to utilise the container's connection pool, and Toplink's ability to perform the rest of the things (including transactions). Is that possible?

Vikas,
TopLink can easily be configured to use the external connection pool of an server. This can be accomplished with API but more commonly using the sessions.xml configuration file for the SessionManager. In the product we ship examples for WLS that make use of data sources configured in the server. The portion of the sessions.XML file in question is:
<login>
<user-name>weblogic</user-name>
<password>weblogic</password>
<datasource>java:comp/env/jdbc/ejbJTSDataSource</datasource>
<non-jts-datasource>java:comp/env/jdbc/ejbNonJTSDataSource</non-jts-datasource>
<uses-external-transaction-controller>true</uses-external-transaction-controller>
<uses-external-connection-pool>true</uses-external-connection-pool>
</login>
<external-transaction-controller-class>oracle.toplink.jts.wls.WebLogicJTSExternalTransactionController</external-transaction-controller-class>
This sets TopLink up with both data source access to the JTA and non-JTA connection pools. The full example also includes a domain where the data source is configured.
When TopLink is using the connection pool of the server (external connection pooling) it will not pool its own connections. TopLink will request a connection from the pool each time one is required and release it back when done. This leaves the server responsible for the number of connections available and also for supporting database re-connection.

• WiFi connection problem testing

I am also one of many having the intermittent WiFi connection problem at home.
From a technical testing mode. Get the free the "FreePing" application by Marcel Lanz in the app store.
What you will find is when you are having the internet connection problem, you can not ping your Router. However, you can ping any wired Mac or desktop computer on your router/switch network.
This tells you, you are on the network, getting an IP address from the router DHCP server.
The problem is not related to the Wi-Fi connection or connecting to the network (OSI Layer 2 model).
It appears to be a problem at the OSI Network Layer 3. The router is having a problem in the routing table. The hard part is the Layer 3 problem can be either in the Touch or the router in this configuration. Meaning, the combination of both Touch and router is causing the problem. Thus, the intermittent operation.
Yes, this is probably more technical than anyone here cares to know.

Hi,
You should be debugging the driver / contact the vendor. Seems like netrtwlanu is realtek based chipset.
The abort points to this driver (at least the PC).

• Firefox has suddenly stopped connecting on one of three user accounts on the same computer. That account still connects with Safari - but not Firefox. A clean-install has not solved the problem. Help?

Three user accounts on the same computer all link to a single copy of Firefox 3.6.8 - but one of them has suddenly lost its ability to use the program. Firefox opens in that account, but it cannot connect to the Internet. 'Done' appears at the lower left of a blank Firefox page [it's set to load a blank page initially], as though a page had finished downloading ... but Firefox does not actually generate any Internet activityx.
Previously, the Firefox connection for this account was smooth and reliable. I haven't added, upgraded or downloaded any new programs, nor made any other computer changes in recent weeks or months.
Puzzlingly - that same account still connects successfully to the Internet via Safari. And the other accounts on the same computer continue to use Firefox with no problem - including a test user-account that I set up today to help troubleshoot the problem. The blockage is restricted solely to Firefox with that one user account.
Following your Support page instructions, I did a clean-install of Firefox 3.6.8, removing both the existing Firefox 3.6.8 and the Library/Application Support/Firefox folder. Going the extra mile, I checked all accounts to be certain that no Firefox folders remained in any of them - then emptied the Trash and restarted before installing a freshly downloaded 3.6.8. But blimey - the blockage still persists for that one user account.
Firefox shows no visible cookies that might influence the connection. [It's set to delete all cookies upon closing anyway.] And I see no obvious instructions in Mac's firewall or any software program to refuse access to Firefox. The computer is stand-alone, not networked. And in any case, Firefox works just fine in the two other user accounts.
Deleting the hobbled user account is not feasible. So what is causing this roadblock? Did I miss a step in the clean-install? How can that account resume using Firefox?
Thanks in advance for your advice.

If files already have been downloaded then remove the files in the updates and updates\0 folder.
You can also delete active-update.xml and possibly updates.xml (stores the update history).

You didn't install Oracle correctly, especially you didn't run the root.sh and rootpre.sh scripts.
If you would have read the error message at all, and researched it, you would have known this.

• License usage not view, user connection problem

I have terminal server 2008 R2 and license server on same server in domain. Instaled 15 license per user and license in domain scope and diagnostic is OK. But license server not tracking user (view usage) only generated report list usage. Problem is only
5 user can by logon is same time. In Event viewer not any report about this.

Hi,
In RD Session Host Configuration (tsconfig.msc), please double-click on RDP-Tcp. On the Network Adapter tab, please make sure it is set to
Unlimited connections.
It is normal in RD Licensing Manager to not show Per User RDS CAL usage. You need to create Per User Usage CAL report each time and then save the report as a csv in order to view usage.
Thanks.

• RE: (forte-users) Forte External Connection - PhysicalPort

Hi Ronald,
I think that ExternalConnection class is only aplicable for communication
using TCP, DECnet or Unix Domain Sockets, and is not applicable to work with
COM ports.
I think that to use COM port you must employ C with the Forté WRAPPER.

Not sure what the issue is, if anyone can decipher this and let me know what's going on I'd really appreciate it. Thanks ahead of time!

The Friend is on other Networks or you are on other networks or other friends on other networks ?
The most common problem apart form this that cause Error 7 are NAT issues.
http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/page15.html#CertainBuddy
There are about six main ways to do NAT (Network Address Translation)
There is no International Standard as such.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Networkaddresstranslation
Most domestic and commercial devices use NAT and realistically short of Bridging the device there is no way around using it.
As the first link suggests though some methods of opening ports seem to be less effected by the way NAT is done. Therefore UPnP tends to be a "Solution"
I did mention UPnP but you don't seem to have mentioned if that is the way you have allowed ports through the device.
I would also look in the firewall for this Actiontec.
IS it an On/Off Enable/Disable setting or is it four or so different levels.
If it works on Levels set it to Low or Off.

• Is there a problem with FaceTime, can not connect. When dial it connects and drops. When friends are calling me they have calling message and I have connecting but it does not connect. Need help, face time is my life line.

Face time not working. When dialled it says connecting and drops immediately. When my friends calling it show connecting but it does not.
Is there a problem with face time. I am in south Africa, it was working perfectly up to Easter. Please help this is my life line.

There is a barely acknowledged issue. For Mac users Apple has released an update to the app, but for iOS users the recommendation is for users to update their ipad to the most recent operating system.
There may be a fix coming for iOS6 users (which seem to be many of those having problems) or there may not be. If your ipad isn't up to date then you can update it and see if that helps, or if you don't want to update then you may want to wait and see if there is either a fix or if it fixes itself.

• HT1926 Have the same problem as many other users: tried to update iTunes on Windows 7 today; first message "unable to locate component- MSVCR80.dll was not found" then "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes - Error 7 (Windows error 1

I have the same problem as many other users: updated iTunes on Windows 7 on Jan 26, 2014 and iTunes does not open. First message "unable to locate component- MSVCR80.dll was not found" then "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes - Error 7 (Windows error 126)". When will Apple fix this? Don’t feel like uninstalling all Apple software and then re-installing it as suggested, as I am on a terribly slow internet connection while travelling in the DR Congo.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.
