External mp4 metadata

I have a Actionscript 2.0 project exported as Flash Player 9. We're using the FLVPlayback component to play external mp4 videos. Most of the mp4 videos are the same size but there are some are varying sizes. The player is currently setup with fixed width and height but I'd like to be able to adjust the size of the playback component on the stage to match the actual size of the external video. Is there anyway to determine the external video's dimensions before displaying the playback component? I know how to dynamically change the size of the player - just not how to determine the external movie's dimensions. Thanks!
Michael

yes, there's a metaDataReceived event you can use:
var lo:Object = new Object();
lo.metadataReceived = function(eObj:Object):Void {
flv_pb.width=flv_pb.metadata.width;
flv_pb.height=flv_pb.metadata.height;
flv_pb.addEventListener("metadataReceived", lo);

  • LR4.1 - external editing - metadata not recognised on re-importing

    I use 2 external editors in my work. Nik SilverEfex Pro 2 and Portrait Professional. SE creates Tiffs to work on, PP creates PSD files. I can use both plugins fine and export and tweak my images. However, my problems start on the re-import stage.
    So, I'm working in a Filtered list of files. They are filtered by the couples name (its a wedding). So I only see this couples wedding. I edit the files externally and they re-import. But - here's the problem, they don't show up. First off I thought that perhaps the metadata was not copied over. But it is. If I clear all filters, the images are there in the library. They also have all the metadata attached correctly and the star rating too. But, if I use the couples name to filter again - they refuse to appear in the selected group.
    Solution - quit LR and restart it. Now they appear!
    Bizarre. Why? The metadata clearly hasn't changed, it was clearly there. You can read the correct keywords are there assigned to the images, but the filter refuses to see those keywords until the program is restarted. As I dip in and out of SilverEfex many, many times during a wedding edit - this is infuriating to say the least.
    Solution anyone? Or a suggestion as to if I'm the only person suffering this problem? I haven't tried 4.2 yet, but I see no mention of this problem being solved in the release notes.
    Paul

    Paul, I would suggest renaming the Preference file (do something like add "old" to the name") with Lr closed and restart to see if that removes the problem.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/preference-file-locations-lightroom-4.html
    If that fails, you may want to try using a smart collection.
    BTW, I don't have this issue on my Mac with 4.2RC.

  • TREX - Indexing external links' metadata, but not content

    Hi All,
    I have a number of external links in the CM repository and would like to include them into the search results.
    However during indexing, all external links fail pre-processing because I believe it is trying to get the content of the link but it does not have authorisation.
    Is there a way to just index the metadata and ignore the content?
    Cheers,
    Vic

    Hi Achim,
    I saw that there was host specified with
    http://<%hostname%>. So i thought it should work. I tried editing this value and give the host  name.
    For example my portal address is
    http://portal.company.com:50000
    so i gave the address
    http://portal in my host parameters.
    This is still not working. Should i change the parameter to something else??
    Thanks,

  • Captivate 7 - HTML5 - Project to External MP4 - Back to Project at Quiz slide

    Hi,
    I am new to using Captivate and my company has me using Captivate 7. I am tasked with creating a project (blank project) importing a video, and then returning to the Captivate project to take a quiz. The video quality is not good in HTML5 or MP4 when imported into the project. I have alternatively, linked within the slide a button to the HTML5 video,  and successfully launched the video with perfect quality. I have created a button within the HTML5 video to go back to the original project. I see an option to go back to the project, but not to the specific slide where the quiz begins. What is the best way to accomplish this?

    If you set the number of attempts to Infinite, the user will not be able to continue until he has given a correct answer. The answer will not be reset, but he can change it and the Failure caption will appear in which you can put the Feedback. Be sure to hide the playbar (there is an option in the Quiz settings) and to drag the Next button (that doubles as a Skip button during Quiz, is Next during review) under the Clear button (can be used by user to clear the answer). That is only necessary if you want to allow review. If not, uncheck the Next button.

  • Error saying "Metadata has been changed externally"

    I recently added an external hard drive and am now saving my new pictures to that hard drive. Lightroom still lives on my hard drive. I imported some pictures into LR last night and several of them have an arrow icon on them and the error message says "Metadata has been changed externally" but it hasn't. These are DNG files that have not been opened anywhere other than LR. I did synchronize the settings of these pictures, but all within LR. Please help!

    Yes, this is a longstanding "feature" of Lr. You know the saying: when bugs exist long enough they become a feature.
    It disappears when you uncheck the box <Automatically write changes to xmp>. You still can save to xmp when the box is unchecked but you have to do it manually (select all the images in the Grid View and press Ctrl / Cmd + S).
    Another procedure that makes the message disappear (when you leave the box <Automatically write changes to xmp> checked) is to do the <Save metadata to file> (via >Metadata >Save metadata to file - Cmd / Ctrl + S) and immediately do a <Read metadata from file>. You have to do this immediatly after saving to file because the <Read metadata from file> overwrites the catalog data, so you first have to save the catalog settings to file (save metadata to file) and immediately read them back.
    The message in itself is not harmful. It says that the "Metadata has been changed externally" but you have to read this "externally" as: metadata has been changed in a different instance of Lr. This seems to be strange. But sometimes Lr has no "memory" of saving the metadata to file because this step has been obliterated in the history panel (by going back to a previous step in the history) and thus this <saving metadata to file>-step is not in the catalog. In this situation Lr "concludes" that the metadata in the file must have been changed externally by a different program.
    the message has driven numerous Lr users crazy. But rest assured, your images are safe and sound. And you rmetadata are saved to file.

  • Looking for pure Java API to read metadata from an MP4 file.

    Hi, I am looking for a pure Java api that can read MP4 metadata. I have been trying to look online for one but have not found anything

  • Is there a way to play an mp4 file at the beginning of a published project only when the project is accessed from a specific site?

    Is there a way to play an mp4 file at the beginning of a published project only when the project is accessed from a specific site?
    A little background info. I use Captivate 7 and currently have over 100 projects that I maintain on a quarterly basis. I publish using the SWF format and upload the swf/htm files to a server where they are then accessed from a few locations (within our online documentation, in our software product, on two different websites). Many of the projects are linked so some will be viewed as a series and others viewed as a standalone video. Each video uses the same template and includes an intro and end slide. Now my organization wants to implement a new intro to all videos (those I publish and those from several groups across the organization). My current intros provide overview material for the specific video so the new intro, which is an animation with audio in mp4 format, would need to be placed at the start of each project. The issue is, the intro adds 9 seconds to every video and in many cases doesn’t add any value (say, if a user accesses the video from within our product or views the videos as a series). I’ve talked it over with my boss and we want to try to add the intro only to videos accessed from site X, not any other location. So now to my question. Is there a way to play an external mp4 file (intro) only when the published project is accessed from a specific site, therefore eliminating the need to update each project? Maybe there's a way to add a parameter or variable to the URL or the html code?
    Thanks in advance for your suggestions. Please let me know if you need additional information.

    AimeeLove,
    I have a solution for you.  You may have to modify the code a little bit based on how long the timeline animation is for your clock.  I based mine on 3 seconds to complete a minute hand sweep around the clock.
    Milliseconds for each point on the clock:
    12 = 0
    1 = 250
    2 = 500
    3 = 750
    4 = 1000
    5 = 1250
    6 = 1500
    7 = 1750
    8 = 2000
    9 = 2250
    10 = 2500
    11 = 2750
    In the mouseover section for 12 o' clock, put this code...
    myVar = setInterval(function(){
         var pos = sym.getPosition();
         if (pos > 0 && pos < 50){
              sym.stop(0);
              clearInterval(myVar);
    },10);
    When you point to the time, the setInterval method loops every 100th of a second and checks the current position of the timeline.  When the timeline reaches the range between 0 and 50 milliseconds (almost impossible to hit 1 specific point), the timeline will stop at 0.  Also, the clearInterval will be fired to stop the loop.
    In the mouseout section, put this...
    sym.play();
    clearInterval(myVar);
    It start the clock again, and it also clears the loop in case you mouseout before you reach the range.
    Make sure that myVar is a global variable so you can clear it from the mouseout section.
    Repeat this for each point on the clock.  To avoid potential conflicts, you may want to use my12, my1, my2, etc. instead of myVar.  I put the milliseconds at the top that you would use as the beginning of the range.  50 milliseconds should be enough to catch it.  So, for 5 o' clock, you would make your range between 1250 and 1300.
    Let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks!
    Fred

  • Why does Captivate 6 create mp4 files that the swf does not playback clearly?

    Captivate 5 created a .swf which suited my training purposes very nicely.  There were swf files in the library, embedded in the (rather large) .swf that I asked the students to run.  Now it seems that Captivate 6.0.1.240 won't do that.  Captivate 6 creates external mp4 files for the video portion (audio is separately recorded mp3 that is imported to the finished demo video slide) and they look terrible when the .swf runs them.  Those mp4 look fine on their own but the .swf must resize them to properly fit with the TOC on the screen.
    The HTML created when I make the .swf looks fine but it does not all fit on the screen as does the .swf so I don't like it and don't want to use it.  Thanks, in advance, for any replies and suggestions.

    Hi llstewart,
    I assume you are launching your program from C drive. Are any
    components of Captivate stored on the remote drive? (I am thing
    your user profile, are you the only person who accesses Captivate
    from that machine?)
    Does this happen all the time?
    What I have noticed in my own network is that there are
    periodic "dropped" connections on the network. I have never figured
    out what it causing this, but Captivate does not like it. (Every
    once in awhile if Word or Excel are writing to a file on a share,
    they will become thoroughly corrupted too.)
    The problem with Captivate is that it needs a lot of a
    computer's resources and takes what it can get. It also seems to
    write to a temp file a lot (while a capture is taking place) an
    only "binds" it up when the user stops and ends the session. The
    only thing I can think of is that during this process there is a
    inturruption in your network.
    Sorry I couldn't fully answer your question.
    I would try (if you can) loading the software on a machine
    that is not on the network and try to do a series of long captures
    and see if the problem persists.
    I work in a large network and I do not have the problem, but
    I have also installed the software myself and made sure of the
    installation. I also make sure the program I am recording is local
    (whenever possible). Additionally, do you have problems with any
    other programs and corrupted files?
    Again, sorry I don't have a quick answer.

  • Lr 4.1RC GPS metadata not read in CR2 files on Synch

    After importing CR2 files from a Canon 5dMkii I later updated those files with GPS coordinates using the program GeoSetter (www.geosetter.de).  The program is a GUI front end to ExifTool that adds the coordinates to the CR2 or JPG files.
    After the files are modified, I execute Syncronize Folder in lightroom and select the Scan for metadata updates checkbox.  Lightroom picks up the coordinates from JPG files, but not the CR2 image files.  The only way I can get the GPS data to be imported is to right-click on the CR2 files and select "Read metadata from the selected files".  That works, but any corrections made to the CR2 files after the original import are blown away (there is a warning before the read happens that alerts you to that fact).
    So I believe that there's a bug in the Syncronize Folder method that misses the updates from the CR2 files.  Is this a known bug, and if not, how can I get this info to Adobe?

    OK, let's start again.
    I assume you have changed the Geosetter defaults for your Raw files, so rather than creating an XMP sidecar file you are having the GPS data written directly into the CR2 file, is that correct?
    And you have two issues:
    1. When you synchronise the folder after making the Geosetter change, Lightroom fails to automatically detect the fact that the file has been amended, and you have to force Lightroom to read the updated metadata from the file by doing a "Read Metadata from File" command.
    2. And when you do that, all the existing Lightroom changes are 'lost'.
    Have I got that right?
    If so, re the first point, I think Lightroom is simply operating as designed. I have tested it on both LR3 and LR4 with the same result, and I guess that as Lightroom itself will never write directly to a proprietary Raw file (i.e. it would always write to an XMP sidecar file), it assumes any XMP data created by external apps would also be in an XMP sidecar file. As Geosetter isn't creating one, it can't detect changed Metadata when you sync the folder, and you have to force it to read the file. I know it WILL detect updated metadata if the file is a Jpeg, but again that's because Lightroom DOES write XMP data directly to Jpeg files, so it's more logical that it looks at the XMP area in such files during the sync folder operation.
    On the second point, that will always happen as Lightroom, AFAIK, has no capability of merging it's own catalog metadata with externally created metadata. There are two choices when a metadata conflict is detected.....use the in file metadata, which replaces the in-catalog metadata, or re-write the metadata in the file with what's in the catalog. In fact in your situation, because you are not creating an XMP sidecar file, Lightroom will never know that there's a conflict.....so when you do the "Read metadata from file" it's a one-option deal, i.e. replace the in-catalog metadata with what's in the file, and thus losing the Lightroom data.
    If your absolute requirement is for GPS data to be stored in the actual CR2 files, I can't think of any option other than changing your workflow....process the files through Geosetter first, before you do any work on them in Lightroom. If you delay importing into Lightroom until the Geosetter work is done, the GPS data will come in on import. If you import first, then do the Geosetter work, then you'll have to do the "Read Metadata from File" before starting any Lightroom processing.
    I guess you could also put in a feature request to have the sync behaviour changed for Raw files.

  • Gstreamer fails to play *some* .mp4 videos

    Gstreamer is no longer able to play *some* .mp4 videos. Just until recently
    (possibly update) that worked fine for me. I will appretiate any help with resolving this problem.
    Videos concerning were downloaded from Youtube via the Firefox DownloadHelper,

    Repair Permissions

  • Photo Names/Metadata etc.

    I use Avairy and PhotoMgrPro to edit and organize photos but move the photos between the two, I have to run them through Photos which strips the file names and the metadata I have so carefully worked on.  Is there a solution to this?  I can't upload jpegs to Internet sites.  There are no accessible file names in Photo.  Is anyone at Apple listening or is the corporate hubris too great?  Sorry, but I am irate.

    When you imported into the new library, you separated the metadata from the images.
    If you still have the intact iPhoto Library on the external drive, then start over. Trash the iPhoto Library folder in the Pictures folder of the new ibook. Copy the entire iPhoto Library Folder from the external to the Pictures folder of the ibook. Launch iPhoto on the ibook. If it asks you to choose a library then navigate to the iPhoto Library folder. [To force the prompt to choose your library, hold down the Option key while you launch iPhoto.] Your library should open in the exact condition it was when you copied it to your external drive, metadata and all.

  • QUERYING CLOB DATATYPE

    Hello Everyone,
    Before I go to my question let me give you the context. I wanted to upload the description of a set of products with their IDs into my database. Hence I created a table 'demo' with two columns of INT and CLOB datatypes using the following script. *create table demo ( id int primary key, theclob Clob );*
    Then I create a directory using the following script, *Create Or Replace Directory MY_FILES as 'C:\path of the folder.......\';*
    In the above mentioned directory I create one .txt file for each product with the description of the product. Using the below script I created a procedure to load the contents of the .txt files into my 'demo' table.
    *CREATE OR REPLACE*
    *PROCEDURE LOAD_A_FILE( P_ID IN NUMBER, P_FILENAME IN VARCHAR2 ) AS*
    *L_CLOB CLOB;*
    *L_BFILE BFILE;*
    *BEGIN*
    *INSERT INTO DEMO VALUES ( P_ID, EMPTY_CLOB() )*
    *RETURNING THECLOB INTO L_CLOB;*
    *L_BFILE := BFILENAME( 'MY_FILES', P_FILENAME );*
    *DBMS_LOB.FILEOPEN( L_BFILE );*
    *DBMS_LOB.LOADFROMFILE( L_CLOB, L_BFILE,*
    *DBMS_LOB.GETLENGTH( L_BFILE ) );*
    *DBMS_LOB.FILECLOSE( L_BFILE );*
    *END;*
    After which I called the procedure using, *exec load_a_file(1, 'filename.txt' );*
    When I queried the table like, select * from demo; I am getting the following output..... which is all fine.
    ID THECLOB

    When I did the exact same thing in my friend's machine and query the demo table, I get garbage value in the 'theclob' column (as shown below). The only difference is that mine is an enterprise edition of Oracle 11.2.0.1 and my friends is an Express edition of Oracle 11.2.0.2. Does this has anything to do with the problem?

    To make sure that the .txt files are accessible in the directory I executed the following script, Host Echo Hello World > C:\...path...\1.Txt
    After which I found the contents of the file changed to "Hello World". Later I loaded the .txt file with "Hello World" and queried the table. Still I am getting some garbage value. However since the string "Hello World" is much smaller than the previous contents, the garbage size is also smaller for ID 1. I don't get any errors, but you can see the output as follows.

    The most common problem I have seen using BFILEs is the character set; BFILEs do NOT handle character set conversion.
    That is the main reason I don't recommend using BFILEs for loading data like this. Either SQL*Loader or external tables can do the job and they both handle character set conversions properly.
    See the LOADFROMFILE Procedure of DBMS_LOB package in the PL/SQL Language doc
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28419/d_lob.htm#i998778
    >
    Note:
    The input BFILE must have been opened prior to using this procedure. No character set conversions are performed implicitly when binary BFILE data is loaded into a CLOB. The BFILE data must already be in the same character set as the CLOB in the database. No error checking is performed to verify this.
    Note:
    If the character set is varying width, UTF-8 for example, the LOB value is stored in the fixed-width UCS2 format. Therefore, if you are using DBMS_LOB.LOADFROMFILE, the data in the BFILE should be in the UCS2 character set instead of the UTF-8 character set. However, you should use sql*loader instead of LOADFROMFILE to load data into a CLOB or NCLOB because sql*loader will provide the necessary character set conversions.

    I suggest you use an external table definition to do this load. You can do an ALTER to change the file name for each load.
    See External Tables Concepts in the Utilities doc for the basics

    See Altering External Tables in the DBA doc for detailed information

  • Imported movie is cut short in timeline

    I have a mp4 video file that I need to edit. When I import the file into Premiere Pro CS6 the file cuts off about  1 sec before it ends. The mp4 movie file is 15fps with 44.1kHz audio. I created a Custom preset with the same settings. When I drag the movie into the timeline it says the settings are not the same so I select to match movie. The end of the movie is chopped and I can hear the last bit of audio. I can play the movie just fine in Quicktime Player - just not in Premier since it gets cut short. I've tried to drag out the end of the clip in the timeline but it's as if there's nothing else there -- even though I hear and see it in QT Player.
    I first noticed this when playing the external mp4 video in a Flash movie with the FLBPlayback component. I thought that perhaps the 15fps rate was the problem as the Flash movie was set to 24fps. I changed the Flash movie to 15fps - published - and still it's cut short.
    I can't understand why both Flash and Premiere are cutting the movie short but Quicktime Player is not. Any ideas that might help me figure out what's going on?? Thanks.

    I made a typo in my op. I meant to say "The end of the movie is chopped and I can't hear the last bit of audio."

  • Ffplay doesn't play video after using chromium

    Primarily my VLC stops playing movies after a while of using PC (and I think it stops working after first youtube video in chrome... I have chromium with gtalk and google talk plugin, stackoverflow.com and youtube opened... and the only one that seems to me to be related to video is youtube).
    This is what I get trying to use ffplay:

    VLC opens and runs audio but with no video.
    In chromium, video runs just fine.
    I think (I'm not sure) that first youtube video stops vlc/ffplay from working properly.
    Further more, after setting video output to X11 instead of "Default" in VLC videos start playing again, but still no luck with ffplay.
    Output device set to X11 works (although with some errors):
