External Procedure failes within MTS Transaction

Setup:
Database 9.2 on Win2000Server, Client 9.2 on WinXP
COM+ Component 'XComp' calling a Stored Procedure 'StProc' via ODP (V9.2.0.4).
'StProc' calls an external Procedure void ExtProc(char* pRetString).
The call of ExtProc fails with ORA-03001 (function not implemented) and ORA-06512 (?),
if XComp acts within a MTS transaction.
If XComp has no transaction-context, everything works fine.
Has anyone a hint what I do wrong?
Remarks:
I tried ExtProc as a 'do-nothing' function in a clean win32 dll (no ATL,COM,.NET,...) with the same effect.
I also cleaned the procedure 'StProc'
Procedure StProc IS
ID varchar:='XXXXX';
Begin
ExtProc(ID);
End;
void dllexport ExtProc(char* pRetString)
// strcpy(pRetString,"Test");
}

Certain features are disabled in distributed TXs, especially explicit commits, such as: DBMS_LOCK, autonomous TXs, DDL. Perhaps, external procedures are not allowed since Oracle cannot inspect the code, ie. Oracle cannot check for local commits. Don't know, just guessing.

  • Execute both 32-bit and 64-bit external procedures within same DB

    Hi,
    I have a 64-bit installation of oracle9i.
    I want to know if it is possible to execute both 32-bit and 64-bit external procedures within the same database. If yes, can you please help on how I can do it?

    Thanks.  The reason I was thinking of doing this is we have a lot of existing apps which are already configured for a particular name.  We are moving to a 64-bit OS and have found that some apps must remain 32-bit while others must be upgraded
    to 64-bit (all related to 3rd party code availability).  There are a lot of config files (because of a lot of apps on multiple servers).  So either bite the bullet and update all the configs to use new names or "cheat" and have both 32 and 64 bit
    DSNs use the same name.

  • ORA-22337 when select geometry within external procedure

    Hi all
    I want to make a C external procedure. This external procedure need to select a set of geometries (MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY) from a table in database.
    How can I do that?
    Well, I've tried to use callback functions, but I realized that some important OCI object functions don't work on callbacks (like object pinning).
    So, I've tried to make a new connection from the external procedure. I can do that, but, when I make the object pinning (yes, I did map the SDO_GEOMETRY object to a C struct), I get the error ORA-22337 (the type of accessed object has been evolved)
    How can I handle this?

    Hi Ben,
    The use of the union operator tells Oracle only to return a unique set of rows, hence a sort is done (in this case attempted, since there is no geometry sorting routine).
    If you choose union all, then no sort will be attempted.
    Hope this helps,
    dan

  • Using table CRMC_PROC_TYPE within the transaction launcher...

    Table CRMC_PROC_TYPE contains all sorts of interesting fields, namely:
    Number range Internal
    Number rnage External
    User stat procedure
    Text Procedure
    Partner determination Pocedure
    Object type
    Time and Action profile
    Org Profile ID
    This table is used by the oler Action Boxes (forerunner to the transaction launcher).
    The key field for the above table is the Process type. I would like to forward the process type to the transaction and set this up within the transaction launcher, but so far all attempts have failed. The action boxes as used by the Winclient IC stil work, even in CRM 7, so one assumes that the same functionality can be configured in some way within the transaction launcher.
    I have found documentation, comments, guides on this subject, so this is my plea to anyone who may know how to achieve this.

    hi anindya,
    the description of transaction type you can get it from table CRMC_PROC_TYPE_T
    just query to this table by the transaction type
    hopes it helps

  • 'sp_replicationdboption' cannot be executed within a transaction

    I created a merge replication for a publisher (e.g. Pubisher1). Then I want to add a new aticle. Therefore, beside many other line of code (see "More Detail on above") within a db trigger I have line:
    exec sp_replicationdboption @dbname = 'Publisher1',    @optname = 'merge publish', @value = 'true';
    But I keep getting this error:
    "The procedure 'sp_replicationdboption' cannot be executed within a transaction.
    Msg 14013, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_MSrepl_refreshsubscriptions, Line 60
    This database is not enabled for publication."
    I am not sure what is going on?
    More Detail on above:
    What I am trying to do is to add an article (e.g. MyTable) to my publication (e.g. Pub1). I tried many different combination of options. My latest version of code is as follow:
    exec sp_changemergepublication 'Pub1',@property='allow_anonymous',@value='true';
    exec sp_changemergepublication 'Pub1', @property='allow_subscriber_initiated_snapshot', @value='true';
    exec sp_changemergepublication 'Pub1', @property='allow_push', @value='true', @force_invalidate_snapshot = 1, @force_reinit_subscription = 1;
    ---source of errors is these two lines (as stated above):
    exec sp_replicationdboption @dbname = 'Publisher1',    @optname = 'merge publish', @value = 'false';
    exec sp_replicationdboption @dbname = 'Publisher1',    @optname = 'merge publish', @value = 'true';
    EXEC sp_addmergearticle @publication = 'Pub1', @article = MyTable, @source_object = MyTable, @force_invalidate_snapshot = 1;
    EXEC sp_mergearticlecolumn @publication = 'Pub1', @article = MyTable, @force_invalidate_snapshot = 1, @force_reinit_subscription = 1;
    exec sp_link_publication @publisher = '7-PC' ,@publisher_db = 'Publisher1' , @publication =  'Pub1', @security_mode =  2, @login =  'sa' ,  @password = '*';
    exec sp_refreshsubscriptions 'Pub1';
    exec sp_startpublication_snapshot 'Pub1'
    Can anyone help me on that? If you need even more details please let me know.
    Thanks in advance

    My question is why are you disabling merge publication on this database and then re-enabling it. From:
    From http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms188769.aspx
    This procedure creates or drops specific replication system tables, security accounts, and so on, depending on the options given. Sets the corresponding category bit in the
    master.sysdatabases system table and creates the necessary system tables.
    This is not how you go about adding an article to a merge publication, remove these two steps.
    If you are interested in being able to roll back the addition of an article to a publication you should check for an error and if you get one remove the article - however even that does not make a lot of sense because sp_addmergearticle - either succeeds
    or it fails - so it is "transactional" in itself.

  • External procedure with Pro*C in it

    I have some C functions that I have compiled into a shared library on Unix.
    One of the functions contains a SQL statement to insert into a table, so I
    compile the file with Pro*C. It compiles fine. I have another C program
    that calls the function within my shared library. It runs fine and the shared
    library does insert the data into the table.
    I create an Oracle library that points to the shared library, then create a stored
    function in the database that executes the routine in the shared library. At
    this point, everything seems in place. We have been using external procedures
    for a while, and they seem to work OK. This is the first one we have, though that
    has Pro*C code in it.
    When I execute the stored function to execute my Pro*C routine, I get the errors
    ORA-06520: PL/SQL: Error loading external library
    ORA-06522: Unresolved external.
    This shared library is the first one that we are using that has Pro*C in it. The
    documentation doesn't say anything about being able to use Pro*C routines
    as external procedures; but it doesn't say you can't. Am I attempting the impossible?
    If not, what am I missing?
    null

    Is your library object pointing to one shared library and in turn function in this library is 'looking' to another shared library? if so, that is not allowed

  • Cannot access external data , Failed to get the document information.

    Hi All,
    In my dashboard there are live office connections which has optional prompts defined in SAP BI. I have bound the cells to these prompts in live office object properties.
    There are no errors while refreshing the LO connections from excel sheet.
    But when i run that dashboard and give BLANK value for that prompt then it throws the error :
    Cannot access external data , Failed to get the document information. (LO 26315).
    Reply highly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,
    DJ

    Hi Hardik,
    I am building a similar solution as yours connecting webi reports to Bex queries and reading the webi data through live office into the dashboards. I am using almost similar versions as yours - BW 7.1 SP5, BO 4.1 SP4, Dashboards and Live Office SP4 versions. I am facing issues setting up the live office connections itself. I create the Live office connections within an excel and when I try to import this excel spreadsheet into my dashboard designer, it runs forever and crashes.
    Could you please list out the steps you performed to get the Dashboard to preview live office data? Do you have OLAP connections for BW cubes and created WebI reports using these connections or You created a Universe on top of the Bex Queries?
    It would be great if you could share the steps performed.
    With respect to your issue, check if the report engine service is running. Do you have any error message details apart from this error?
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Rohini.

  • Control multiple updates and queries within one transaction in JPA

    Hi,
    I have a question regarding control multiple updates and queries within one transaction. We are using EclipseLink 2.3.1. With below code, will I be able to:

    Yes, the operation will be in a single transaction, assuming you are using a JTA managed SessionBean and the code is part of a SessionBean method.

  • ORA-00164: autonomous transaction disallowed within distributed transaction

    I have been trying to solve this problem for weeks now, I have posted this question everywhere I can think of, but I havent really received and answer that has helped, so now I am going to post it here hoping for an answer.
    We are running 9iAS on Solaris and when the following stuff is run we are getting ORA-00164 errors. If you refresh the page a bunch of time the problem goes away. But it comes back the next time you try to execute the procedure again. Here are the cases when the problem shows up.
    Editing the style:
    PROCEDURE : PORTAL30.wwpob_app_style.edit_style
    Saving changes to the banner for a page
    PROCEDURE : PORTAL30.wwptl_banner.savecustom
    Logging out
    PROCEDURE : PORTAL30.wwsec_app_priv.logout
    After setting the default user group and applying the changes:
    PROCEDURE : PORTAL30.wwsec_app_user_mgr.edit_user
    Creating a new group:
    PROCEDURE : PORTAL30.wwsec_app_group_mgr.create_group
    Opening the add portlet screen:
    PROCEDURE : PORTAL30.wwv_main.main
    There are a few other places but I don't have them documented. In ALL cases the problem goes away once we start and stop the Apache using the following comands:
    /app/oracle/n_portal/Apache/Apache/bin/apachectl stop
    ps -ef | grep httpd | grep n_portal
    /app/oracle/n_portal/Apache/Apache/bin/apachectl start
    After starting and stopping Apache the problem is gone for a little while (20-30 mins) then it starts coming back slowly (sometimes the problem is there then it is not). Once the problem is back if you continually press refresh on the browser (5-10 times) the page might appear, if the page does not appear you will see the

    These errors might be related to dynamic services but we were had the problem long before Dynamic services was installed.
    We want to start pre-production user testing as we have just had 11 developers building portlets for the company, but we cant do much with this error popping up every time a user wants to test it. We have one of the Oracle consultants here and he has asked the oracle developer group what the problem could be, and they seem to think it might be related to our use of DB links however, we never get the problem when we try to run a portlet that uses a database link.
    Please help.

    Jay,
    My name is Craig McCauley. I'm an Oracle Technical Manager working onsite at Unocal Indonesia. I'm with the Portal group in ATS.
    When I got here the first thing we did was bump up init.ora parameters and apache confif parameters as suggested by the iPlatform group. We have thes sessions parameter (in init.ora) bumped up from 100 to 700. I'm watching v$session and the get these AT messages with as few as 70 total db sessions. Any help your group can give will be greatly appreciated.
    Unocal is planning on implementing Oracle Portal globally - as a common interface. They have similar installs in Thailand and Houston and thus far have not seen the AT messages (although there has not been much development going on at those sites).
    Thanks,
    Craig

  • Rebuilding an External Procedure

    Hi,
    I'm currently having trouble with my external procedure. It's working, I can call it and it will do it's job but I have to debug it. But when I rebuild it, oracle still uses the old lib. Even if a delete the library it will still work. How can I force oracle to get the last library?
    Thanks,
    Matthieu Levesque

    Correction... the program I'm using is Data Rescue II, not File Salvage II. The latter is actually called just 'File Salvage' and is good to use as a last-ditch effort when all else has failed. I say last ditch because though it WILL pull files back from the great beyond, it does so without the actual file name. Great for pictures, not so great for design docs.
