External SB Live Surround 5.1 Monitor

Hi.
I have a USB SB Li've 5. Surround card (Li've 24! External) with Windows Vista 32 bit and the latest vista drivers.
The Creative Audio Center .0.2 should restore the line monitoring function in Windows Vista, but i have no option to enable this function.
I?ve already contacted creative support a week ago?but they didn't reply me.
I have an Acer Aspire 430 notebook with the latest bios, all drivers updated and the latest creative drivers.
I can't record mic at 24bits with Creative Smart Recorder 2.40.2. I only get noise.
I guess it's a driver issue and i've tried a clean install with creative software and windows vista, but still the same problems.
I need some help...
Thanks.

  • Real live bugs in my monitor

I thought I was seeing things, but I got my daughter to confirm it. I currently have a real live bug in my monitor! Yes, a thunder fly on the inside of the glass - a tiny insect crawling around INSIDE THE COMPUTER.
I can only see it against a white background and it does not move with the window when I drag the window around the display. It is definitely live and moving. I kid you not.
What I want to know is - will it do any harm? If so, how can I get rid of it?

    HI,
One would think it would die of natural causes considering no access to food and water.
Doubt it will do any harm.

I can't pass this up. Similar to a "lightning bug"?

  • Soundblaster live! 24bit external 5.1 surround H

i purchased a new dell m70 and i plan to use it for audio recording mixing ect. and i need to be able to have 5. surround sound. I have been impressed with Creative products, and so i purchased the soundblaster li've external surround card to use with my logitec 5. surround sound speakers. I updated the drivers for vista ultimate, and yet i cannot get accurate channels. All the sound comes from the front 2 channels. Please, someone help me set up the card properly with true 5. surround.

    Hello Jason, Nvidiot,
SUCCESS!!! After Jason's post, I decided to troubleshoot by switching cables at both ends - what I found was that all three jacks on the card were indeed functioning OK - there was output from the PC side but it was not being received by the amplifier. After hours of looking through the manual, and switching the the various config modes on the remote for the amp - I decided to look at the amplifier itself. There was this one little bummer of a button (not mentioned in the manual, nor configurable via remote) that needed to be pressed on the amplifier itself in order to activate raw 5. input - and LO AND BEHOLD!!!
Thanks once again for your efforts to help.

  • Time Machine doesn't do External HD to External HD Live parallel backups...

I didn't know where else to post this...
I have 12GB of external storage devices attached to my MacBook Pro 17. They are a variety of sizes, and I'm trying to figure out how to use some for storage, and the rest for backing up those storage drives. I don't think Time Machine supports this...
so, I'm looking for a Time Machine styler backup software recommendation that also allows you to have live parallel backups from one external drive to another. I've checked out all the obvious things - SuperDuper, Data Backup, Backup, and others. They only support backups of the INTERNAL hard drive.
If that doesn't work, I'll have to resort to scheduled incremental back ups, but again, I can't find software that will do external to external backups.
Does anyone know of a Backup utility like Time Machine but for EXTERNAL Drives.

Time Machine can back up external drives, if they're formatted HFS+, along with your internal, but only to a single volume. So unless you have one of those big enclosures that you can configure as a monster hardware +Concatenated RAID set,+ Time Machine may not be your whole solution.

I don't use SuperDuper, but I'd be very surprised if it can't back up external HDs. The similar CarbonCopyCloner, which I do use in addition to Time Machine, can. But it only backs-up one volume at a time, so you'd need one "task" for each. Depending on the sizes, it could back up, say, two 500 GB disks to a single 1 TB drive (I don't know offhand if it would have to be partitioned, but that would probably be wise).
With that much data, your best bet may be a combination: Time Machine for your OSX volume and one or more externals (probably the ones with the most changes), and CCC, SD, or others for the other volumes.
You might want to review the Time Machine Tutorial and perhaps browse Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).

  • Live view on laptop monitor

I'm looking for Canon PowerShot and software that offer ability to conect with laptop, that I can see on monitor what camera lens see. No need for any additional function, just live view window. PowerShot with Vari-Angle LCD may not be helpful cause sometimes camera will be too far away for me to see. (3m is far away for me ) Help!

The Powershot N series allows that on either a tablet or smartphone. The N2 and the N100. You can control and view your camera via WiFi connections.
I think but I cant recall which models but there may be some other models that have live output via and AV or HDMI cable.
One call to Canon might get you the list of models quicker

  • Live on-screen network monitor.

    Hi,
I wonder if anyone know of a network monitor where you can see your network activity live on-screen. What ip's you're connectiong to and which ports you're going through, and vice versa.
Doesn't matter if it is GUI or CLI based, as long as I can monitor my network.

The best i can come up with is NetworkStat
    http://widgetschmie.de/widgets/NetworkStat/
Not quite what your looking for but still useful for being able to email changes in IP address etc... Once you've downloaded it click on the symbols next to you network address's...
    Hope its remotely useful..

  • Crop live-preview on 2nd monitor

isn't working anymore in LR4.2. In LR3 this was a very useful feature and I want it back - do I miss something or was the live-crop-preview removed from LR4?

Yep - when the navigator is on it does!
Nevertheless this is a workaround that shouldn't be neccesary using a pro-software.
Hope this will be fixed in the near furure ...

  • External SB LIve 24bits dri

I installed a new USB External SoundBlaster Li've 24 bits and to my surprise I can not select 24 bits. Software tells me about the bandwith limitation of USB .. But the card is plugged in USB 2.0 slot. I did not find an upgraded driver for this device on the Web site. Will there be one? Or can I use the drivers for the SB MP3+?
    Thanks
    P Breton

Make sure you have updated the drivers for the motherboard/USB aswell. You may need a USB update form the motherboard manufacturer that fully supports USB 2.0
Also, if you're using Windows2000 or XP, you may need to update the Service Pack.
The SB MP3+ is a different product, so you can't use those drivers.

  • Surround /mixing and monitoring audio interface

    Dear forum,
I am searching for an audio interface to use with MBP or G5 for mixing and monitoring of four to 6 outputs channels into PMC active speakers. I am using a Lavry DA 11 DAC for stereo monitoring. I do not require an interface with inputs for recording music as all my recording is done away from my macs, it just the outputs i need to monitor audio I have loaded to computer via CF card. All the interfaces I see have loads of inputs I don't require. Is there an interface available without inputs?
Or I am looking at the wrong sort of device?
    regards

You need an interface that has 8 outputs. Most of these include 8 or more inputs as well. The inputs will not be a problem when mixing, you can ignore them.
I have yet to see an interface that is only outputs.

  • Can I run two big external monitors on my 2012 MacBook Pro?

I understand that my NON-retina 2012 MBP can be set up to drive two Apple Thunderbolt Displays, but am I out of luck on driving two generic 27" DVI or HDMI external monitors?
Boring details: I've just bought a mid-2012 MBP, with a quad-core i7 and 16 Gb of RAM plus the high-end GPU w/ 1GB of video RAM, but non-retina. I'd like to run two external 1080p or DVI HD-equivalent monitors (I have several new Samsung 27-inchers). I can live without the laptop 15-inch screen while I'm doing it!
I know that the retina MBP has two Thunderbolt ports, plus a DVI port, which would have easily given me what I need. However, I didn't get the retina MBP because it's totally non-upgradable by a user. There were a couple of other potential additional issues, including some reported problems installing Windows into Parallels via external DVD player. There's also the $mid-3000's price for retina, tricked out the way I'd like... Tradeoffs! At least I still have Firewire.
The two big externals help a lot with video editing. Even with my old G5 PowerMac, you could immediately drive two 1080p-equivalent displays. I expect that someone will release a much-more powerful solution than the Matrox USB 2 screen driver dongle, etc., sometime soon, using "superfast" USB 3, but I'll lose one of my two USB 3 ports; I'll want to have 'em both free for other externals, I'm sure.
    Thoughts and/or solutions?

    For those following this thread...
There is a posting elsewhere here in Discussions that describes how to get two large external monitors running on a recent Macbook Pro by using only ONE Apple Thunderbolt Display, then daisychaining a LaCie Thunderbolt drive after the T-Bolt display, and this allows adding another large DVI display in the chain after the LaCie.
Still pricey, since it does involve buying one Apple Thunderbolt Display, plus a LaCie drive, and cables, plus the DVI display, but it's around half a thousand dollars cheaper than two Apple T-Bolt displays, plus you have a very fast LaCie external drive.
Still not what I'm looking for, but if you're interested, here's a link...

  • Has anyone seen the blue flashing screen on MBP running 10.6.8?  It looks like you are plugging in an external monitor and unplugging it over and over.

So, I have called Apple twice about this issue.  Both times, I was on for almost an hour and could not get an answer.  In fact, the technicians said that they had never seen this issue before.  Here is how it goes.
It has happened MacBook Pro laptops anywhere from 2010 to now.  I have seen it on new ones with Thunderbolt and ones a generation before.  In the environment I work in, we have many, thousands from ranging from all generations.  This specific issue seems to only be affecting 10.6.8.  When the computer boots, it starts to flash blue as if you just plugged in an external montior, except there is no monitor, and it keeps flashing blue about once every second.  I actually have a video of it on my phone that I can send to show you.
Now, like I said, this is happening to multiple laptops, all running 10.6.8.  There isn't a particular action that causes it either.  I have seen laptops that have been running for hours just start doing it as well as a completely cold start up do it right at the login screen.  Upgrading to 10.7.x seems to solve the issue.  But you have to understand, the environment I work in has thousands of computers.  Upgrading many of them to Lion just for this is just not practical.  In some cases, there is software that will not function correctly beyond 10.6.8.
I have scoured though Google searches for hours now looking for a similar issue and a resolution.  The answer I always seem to find is just upgrade.  I can't seem to find a discussion beyond 2011 that talks about it.
    Can someone help me?
    Chad

By the way, I have tried shutting of the display switching in the power settings.  That was basically the only real answer I found anywhere.  It didn't work.

  • Low external monitor resolution

Hallo, I've the Macbook AIr 13" (2012) with an external Samsung Synchmaster XL 2370 LED monitor. Unfortunately, the screen resolution of the 1920x1080 Samsung monitor is not at 1920x1080, but lower. The Mac OS 10.8.1 uses the profile HD 709-A. This cannot be the correkt profile. Does anyone have an advice?

Are you using mirrored or extended display mode. If mirrored then the resolution of the laptop will also be mirrored. If using extended mode you can set the resolution of the external monitor differently than the resolution of the laptop. And try to toggle the resolution in System Preferences>Displays.

  • External monitor not recognized!

I have a Philips 180P2 external monitor hooked up to my iMac 2.8 GHz, 24", which was running fine until my upgradte to SL this afternoon. Now (among other little "quirks") the external monitor can't recognize the signal from the iMac ... or rather, the iMac won't display there...
What's odd is that I had, for example, Safari on the external monitor and, when I start that browser, it won't show as it running on the external Philips monitor ... which isn't running (yes, power is on and cable is plugged in). When I unplug the monitor adapter from the back of the iMac it switches to one-display mode again and Safari is shown on the iMac.
The system preferences show the monitor and its position fine ... what's going on?!
Any and all help is REALLY appreciated. Thanks!

I've had similar problems (see http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2132912&tstart=0) with my second monitor. When I downgrade the display of the external to 1600x1000, then the internal monitor of the imac to 1600x 1200, the display on the external is not very good. However, if I then revert the external to 1680x1050 and the internal to 1900x1200 I can get both back to what things were before updating to snow leopard. However, when I then switch off the imac for a while and then switch back on again the external switches back and forward between no display and a fleeting glimpse of the desktop.
