Extract trigger, or crossing indices from array?

Hi,
I have an analog array of TTL voltages, and I'd like to extract the array indices for where a crossing takes place (Lo-Hi) . Is there a vi that does something like this?
Thanks
NI Hardware: PXI-7853R, PCI-5122, PCI-6733, PXI-1036, PCI-MIO-16E-4, PCI-6110
Computer Hardware: Xeon Quad Core - 2.33 Ghz, 8 GB RAM
Software: Labview 2009, Labview FPGA 2009, Vista 64-bit, MAX 4.6, DAQmx 9.0, NI-SCOPE 3.5

I'm not aware of vi to do this. I think you'll have to write your own.
Kevin.

• Labview code to trigger and scan spectra from HR4000 spectrometer?

has anyone used labview code to trigger and scan spectra from HR4000 spectrometer? When I use one of the device drivers (Spectral Acquisition.vi), i miss lots of trigger when I run it for more than 100 iterations?
I was wandering if anyone is working with it or had in the past and if you could share your insight.
Thanks

Inconsistent times are one thing, overall slowing down is another, although they may have common source. I guess it is the XY plot in your case. Do you have it AutoScaled? If so, try turning autoscaling of both axes off.
Secondly, I don't quite understand the reason for the inner loop with number of iterations = constant 1. What happens if you remove the loop? I understand you want to change the number of iterations in future, but let's test the simplest things first. Removal will require indexing the Wavelength array explicitly with an apropriate block. By the way, it is customary that you EITHER define the number of iterations of a FOR loop by connecting the N input OR by indexing of an input array - NEVER both at the same time. Maybe, changing the multiple XY plot into a single XY plot won't be necessary, maybe it will, try for yourself.
Thirdly, I suggest you try enclosing the XY plot block alone in a case structure (say, in its TRUE window) and set the true condition to occur at some fraction of the total iterations, not every cycle. You do this using the index "i" of the main iteration loop, calculate modulo something (e.g. 10) and test if it is true or false. This way you update the XY plot every 10th iteration only and by choosing different modulo divider you can test, if the plot's display is or isn't the beast slowing things down.
Finally, I suspect it is not necessary to use a Local Variable of the seconds 2 indicator. How about simply wiring the output of your To-double block to the input of the subtraction block? That should let you remove seconds 2 local variable with no harm done.

• Extracting Values of a Field from a Database Table in SAP ECC System

Hi,
I downloaded Extracting Values of a Field from a Database Table in SAP ECC System Using MII 12.0
senario from sdn. I'm trying to do that senario in MII 12.05. But I have problem with section 6 in page 7 (you can supply senario from sdn)
"6- Under the loop of Repeater, use action u2018Rowu2019 to append just the string part of the WA which will display only values for field u2018Batchu2019"
I did not find WA elemen in Output element of Repeater_0
How can I create WA element?
Thanks.

Cemil,
Set up a SAP JCo Interface action block. Use the RFC name RFC_READ_TABLE.
In the link editor map the table to "MARA", set RowCount to something small (20 is good sample size) and create an xml transaction property named FIELDS and copy the following into it:
<FIELDS>

<FIELDNAME>MATNR</FIELDNAME>
<OFFSET/>
<LENGTH/>
<TYPE/>
<FIELDTEXT/>

<FIELDNAME>MTART</FIELDNAME>
<OFFSET/>
<LENGTH/>
<TYPE/>
<FIELDTEXT/>

<FIELDNAME>BSTME</FIELDNAME>
<OFFSET/>
<LENGTH/>
<TYPE/>
<FIELDTEXT/>

<FIELDNAME>XCHPF</FIELDNAME>
<OFFSET/>
<LENGTH/>
<TYPE/>
<FIELDTEXT/>

<FIELDNAME>DATAB</FIELDNAME>
<OFFSET/>
<LENGTH/>
<TYPE/>
<FIELDTEXT/>

</FIELDS>
Then link the Transaction.FIELDS to SAP_JCo_Interface_0.Request{/RFC_READ_TABLE/TABLES/FIELDS}. You may run into problems with two other fields and optionally they can be removed (set link type to remove xml). I usually remove them initially for testing. The two fields are:
SAP_JCo_Interface_0.Request{/RFC_READ_TABLE/INPUT/NO_DATA}
SAP_JCo_Interface_0.Request{/RFC_READ_TABLE/INPUT/DELIMITER} (or you can set this to something like a semicolon,";" or tilda,"~". I find it easier to caclulate position by length, but that is my own idiosyncrasy.)
Once you get this one working, we can explore how to do filtering on the dataset. Your output should be something like this:

<RFC_READ_TABLE>

<DELIMITER />
<NO_DATA />
<QUERY_TABLE>MARA</QUERY_TABLE>
<ROWCOUNT>20</ROWCOUNT>
<ROWSKIPS>0</ROWSKIPS>

Add a repeater sourced on:
SAP_JCo_Interface_0.Response{/RFC_READ_TABLE/TABLES/DATA/item}
Link your repeater output to a tracer with this:
Repeater_0.Output{/item/WA}
What you will see in each tracer message is a single line of data with all the fields contents concatenated together. You can look up what each field in the string represents by the length of the field as returned in the Response segment of the RFC_READ_TABLE rfc. Then you can parse out the data you are interested in.
Give this a try and let me know how you succeeded.
By the way, I could not find the scenario you referred to. Can you post a link?

Mike

• Writing data from array to file

May i know how to write string from a array into a file.
I have use string tokenizer to extract every line from a file using readline and use stringtokenizer to spilt the line using tab delimiter for processing.
But if i want to write data from array to file with tab as a delimiter and how to go to the next line. How do i do that. Below is the task and i have state a simple example on a array i have and the file output that i want.
Pls advice.. Thanks
eg of a array
array[0] = Data
array[1] = One
array[2] = Data
array[3] = Two
array[4] = Final
array[5] = Data
From the above array, i want to write to a file so that it will appear something as below
Eg textfile.txt
Data One
Data Two
Final Data
PLs attached a simple code as a example as i am only begining to start useing the IO feature in java. Thanks

Really thanks for your help,
but u are mentioning that i have already know the number of countters in advance , that is to say the 2 * counters.
But is there a way to solve this problem which i mean if i dun know the number of predefined counters. Maybe i should say, there is more than 2 counters and in another situation, the counters will only be defined during runtime. Actually the solution u give will work nicely with 2 counters. but wat if the counter is more than 4, i wll have to concatenate the string a lot of time. so is there any solution around this problem. That why i am wandering if tere is any solution to write to the file when the counters can be only determined in runtime
Pls advice on the above with a code samples if possible.

• Memory/Speed of Split 1D array vs Delete from array

Just wondering how Split 1D array works - does it create two new arrays in a new section of memory or does it just split the existing array in two, reusing the memory in place. (assuming that the original array is not needed elsewhere). If the latter is the case then presumably it is more efficient to use split array than delete from array if I want to remove element(s) from the beginning or end of the array. Is there a speed advantage as well?
If I use split array but don't then use one of the output arrays is that memory deallocated or does the array remain in memory?
Thanks
Dave

Ok please ignore the results I posted earlier, they are rubbish - not least because I got the column headings mixed up but also because my code was full of bugs
So, here is a revised table, and the code - which hopefully only contains a few bugs... I'm not clued into benchmarking yet so please feel free to rip the code apart.
I still get different results depending on where in the array I split it, most noticeably with subset and reshape. There is no effect with split. I'm guessing this is to do with the memory allocation. (I have not preallocated memory in my code, but I did wire the output arrays to Index Array)

• How to upload the Cycle Count Indicator from ERP into EWM

Hello Gurus,
Can someone tell me what the transaction is to upload the Cycle Count Indicator from the ERP into EWM? I am currently researching the cycle count functionality of EWM for a roll-out at our facility, and this information would be most helpful.
As I understand it, there are transactions for the Global Material Master Data upload, Storage Unit Type in the Palletization Data fields of the ERP (which seems to be translated as the SUT to Packing Material), and Unit of Measure management. Also, judging by a document I found, the Cycle Count Indicator isn't uploaded in the Global Material Data, but I did see that the field has relevency in the EWM packing specifications.
Does this mean that the indicators must be uploaded through the "SUT to Packing Material" transaction (/SCWM/MIG_MAP_SUT)?
What if the Cycle Count Indicator should require a change? Does the change have to be made in ERP and pushed to EWM, do they get updated separately, or is there a way to allow for automatic updating?
I hope the question doesn't seem too complex, but it is the only way I could drill down enough to get what I hope I need.
Thank you!

Hello,
You can do it using MASS TCode.

• How to extract the actual XML document from soap message?

My problem is " how to extract the actual XML document from soap message? "
i just want to extract the attachment i.e. (pure XML document without any soap header or envolope).
i could be ver thank full if u could solve my problem.
[email protected]

Hi,
This is some skeleton code for extracting an attachment from a SOAPMessage.
import javax.activation.DataHandler.;
import javax.xml.soap.*;
import javax.xml.message.*;
Iterator allAttachments = message.getAttachments();
AttachmentPart ap1 = null;
while(allAttachments.hasNext()){
ap1 = (AttachmentPart)allAttachments.next();
//Check that the attachment is correct one. By looking at its mime headers
//Convert the attachment part into its DOM representation:
if(ap1.getContentType() == "text/xml"){
//Use the activation dataHandler class to extract the content, then create a StreamSource from
//the content.
DataHandler attachmentContent = ap1.getDataHandler();
StreamSource attachmentStream = new StreamSource(attachmentContent.getInputStream());
DOMResult domAttachment = getDOMResult(attachmentStream);
domAttachment holds an xml representation of the attachment.
Hope this helps.

• Cross-references from one Frame book to another

I have a client who has two FrameMaker 8 books. The books were a mess (left over from a previous contractor - it was a nightmare) and they hired me to fix them.
But one thing that did work in the old books was their cross-ref setup - they need cross-refs from each book to the other one. The client knew that they had to have the Frame and pdf files in a stable folder structure that did not change. Then, when they created their two pdfs, the cross-refs "found each other" properly.
I fixed everything in the Frame docs EXCEPT those book-to-book cross-refs. I told my client that they would have to create those on their own, because I couldn't duplicate their folder structure - and they were fine with that. But I DID create all cross-refs that were within each individual book (hundreds of them - very technical books).
But now they are getting hundreds of unresolved cross-refs when they open the files in each book. I thought they must have moved some files out of the folders that I gave them in their zip files, but they swear they haven't done so.
For the life of me, I can't think of any other reason why they're having trouble with the cross-refs. Any ideas?

Gilda,

Here are some simple rules for creating book-to-book links in PDFs
from FM:

1. If you're creating the PDFs of the books as a single PDF, then you
must have the respective ".book" files open (no need for the .fm files
to be open), when creating the PDFs. Otherwise, the "external" links
will be made to the specific pdf equivalent of the ".fm" file, if the
".book" file is not open.

2. The links between the books on the same disk drive, will be as
relative links, which need to preserved if the files are moved.

3. If the goal is to have all of the book PDFs in one place for
distribution, then it's best to place all of the .book files in the
same folder to begin with. The .fm files can be in their own
respective project folders, but you have to keep the books together.

Caution: simply moving/copying (or doing a Save As from within FM) the
.book files to the common folder will not work, as they will be
missing the (relative) path to the actual .fm files. You'll need to
either recreate the book files (be careful with TOC, IX and other
generated files - you have to recreate, not add, these to book) in the
target folder or do some spelunking in a .mif version of the .book to
adjust the path on the "<FileName" entry of each book component.
[This sounds like a job for Framescript... ;-) ]

4. If the names of the .book files are not the names that you want to
have on the final PDF files, then change the .book filenames to what
you want before creating the PDFs. When the .book files are open for
creating PDFs, FM will use the .book filename for the target in
cross-book links. Let FM always handle the naming, otherwise you run a
very good chance of breaking cross-book links.

5. If you are producing the PDFs as individual files of the component
.fm files in the book, then things are a bit trickier. You have to do
each component file, one at a time and have the target .book file open
when going down this route. It won't work as you expect when trying to
print using the "*" directive for the multiple files at once. IIRC,
there was a plug-in from Mekon quite a while ago that fixed this
situation for FM5 and 6. I don't know if it's needed now, as I tend to
avoid the SaveAs PDF route in the newer versions, so I haven't tested
this issue with FM8 or FM9.

I hope this helps clarify some things. And the grand master of all
things FM to PDF (Shlomo Perets) may be all over this if I've got
something wrong or have outdated advice. In that case, never mind...
