Extremely slow broadband - BT support not helping....

Hi All,
Hoping someone here can help me, we had broadband installed in our flat with a new line back in April - shortly after the broadband kept dropping with the speed slowing down substantially to below 1MB. After a few calls to BT they found a line fault and fixed it. Since then, on and off, the same thing has been happening and I've currently had the same issue for the past 2 weeks - after numerous calls again, all BT are doing is sending out a new Home Hub 3 which I've yet to receive and I'm doubtful it will help. I've tried the test socket, quiet line test, new fliters, changing wireless channel etc etc. Hoping the mods can help me as based on my stats below, I'm convinced it's a line problem...
Solved!

Hi ad86,
I'm really glad I could help arrange the engineer to fix your broadband speed. Happy surfing now!
All the best,

  • Extremely Slow Broadband + No Dial Tone

Hi there, I'm looking for some help.
    Just a few details first.
    BT Total Broadband
    HUB: HomeHub 2.0
    Residing: S66, South Yorkshire
Speed: Up to 20mb (Apparently - normally around 7ish.)
3 machines connected: 2 Wireless Laptops and Ethernet LAN connected PC. Only the PC is currently connected.
So, the problem I'm having is that the Internet, as of around... 2pm yesterday, has been EXTREMELY slow. I've run speed tests, reset the HUB, restarted the HUB, returned to default on the HUB and everything. It's currently running at a seriously reduced rate. Not to mention - for some reason, no matter which socket I plug the Phone in, the landline is completely dead.

As you can see, the upstream and downstream is terribly low. I can't see us being capped because we upgraded the internet not 2 months ago in which we were advised, unlimited broadband - that being said, there is no way we could have broken the fair usage policy as even though there are 3 machines connected some days, the two laptops are used by my girlfriend and her mother, for things like Facebook, not streaming 55 million movies.
That being said, even if we hammered the internet on a minutely basis and DID exceed the fair usage policy - it doesn't explain why the landline is completely dead. Even the phone has no power - which is odd - because none of them do.
There seems to be 3 faults in areas I'm not even sure are close to us - but could that affect us? I'm not sure.
Any assistance with this would be awesome, as it seems the BT Broadband Help system is incredibly useless at best and I have absolutely no way of contacting BT themselves, due to the dead phone and well - I've heard BT have a live chat thing on the website, but finding it seems they LOVE to hide it.
    Thanks in advance,
    Robert

Okay, new turn of events. The phone is apparently working - both my Nan and Girlfriend have called and it's ringing their side, but my phone must be dead. Awesome BT Phones.
Next - looks like we've been capped - not sure how or why, havn't used anywhere near 10GB this month.

  • Database is extremely slow and alert_log is not updateing

    Please HELP!!!
Our database is experience a big performance issue. It extremely slow.
At the same time our alert_log is not updating. Last entry was made on 11/15/05.
Can this be related? The alert_log size is 10.6MB. Is there a limit to size of alert_log?
What are the appropriate steps for renaming alert_log?
Does anyone experiences the same issues before?
    Thank you in advance,

  • Customer Support not helpful.  Cancellation even though card is updated!

I chatted with customer support 3 different times and updated my credit card info on file twice (which is ridiculous).    Somehow Adobe was using my mailing address (on a whole other section of my profile account) for the billing on the credit card even though the billing address was right there next to the credit card number, etc.   Not my fault the payments didn't go through.  The customer support team appeared to have a helpful attitude, which is great.  But then ultimately did not help me out.  They said they'd have someone call me in the next 3 hours and no one did.
I had all my info right, yet Adobe was not charging my card to keep it from canceling.
My current Cloud membership is cancelled.  This is not my fault.   This is complete *********!  I've got clients to serve today and I'm already behind.
Chat is no longer helpful and where the hell is a phone number to talk to someone, and on top of that, an american.
I expect some royal treatment now.   The facts are I addressed this at 3 separate times with pleeeenty of time before the cancellation would take effect.  I updated my credit card not once, but unnecessarily twice (as asked).  I asked Adobe to charge my card right now and they didn't.
I called my bank and they showed the charge attempts:
May 3 - tried $54.11 and it declined because of the wrong zip code.   (Not my fault.)
May 3 - tried $1 and that approved because used the correct address and zip code.  (Not my fault.)
May 4 - tried once (unknown $ amount) and it was declined because incorrect zip code    (Not my fault.)
May 4 -  tried $54.11  declined because incorrect zip code    (Not my fault.)
May 5 - Tried $1 - approved  (because of correct address and zip code)     Yay!!  You did it!   But why not charge me again for the full amount so my account doesn't get cancelled.   Come on!
Please do what's right, Adobe.   You know how to contact me.

Yes, I'd like further assistance.  I had asked your team to help me update
my credit card information after your online system was not actually
working correctly.   I had updated my billing information twice, as asked
by customer service.  I called my bank to see what was going on.  They
found the 4 or 5 charges that I listed in the discussion.   I didn't want
my subscription to cancel because I have pressing needs to fulfill things
for clients.  I had to start a new subscription (even though your team said
that my card should be updated and working -- this was said to me in a few
phone calls several days before cancellation), which NEVER should have
happened in the first place… because it wasn't my fault that my card was
    not being charged.
I want adobe to give me 6 months free of subscription because I should
NEVER have had interruption in my service.   I nearly got screwed and
potentially could have lost clients, my job… and thus unable to pay rent
    and feed my family.
    Please do the right thing.
    Thanks,
    Loren

  • Internet light not lit, tech support not helping, PPP Down?

Hey guys, I have a problem. I just ordered Verizon's HSI and yesterday was my service ready date. I receieved  a call saying that my service was ready, except it's not working at all.
I spent a majority of yesterday evening on the phone with tech support, which seemed like they were clueless and not helping. here's my problem.
I have a Westell 7500 modem/router. The DSL light is a solid green, however the Internet light is out. It's not red or green, just unlit. I logged into the router settings and i see this big warning: Gateway is not ready for internet connection. Well, that's no good. It also says DSL Connected, but PPP down.
I went into the connections of the router settings and I changed the login information to my verizon account information, but that didn't seem to do anything. It still says the PPP status is down.
No matter what I do, I am not connected to the internet it seems. I talked to a represenative on the phone and he said that the problem is on Verizon's end, but he seemed kind of confused so I don't know if he really knows what he was talking about.
I'm not really a happy camper with the service so far, so I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out here. God forbid I switch to Comcast and their lousy bandwidth cap, but if this isn't resolved soon I may have to resort to that.
Or if there is a tier 3 DSL support number with professionals, i would LOVE to have that.

Thanks for the replies. I have spoken with tech support but I really don't think they know what to do. Each time they just tell me to "go to the router setting and click connect. Oh it's not working? Well... I'll call back tomorrow. It will work tomorrow"
They're supposed to call me back "within 24-48 hours" with good news that my internet will suddenly be working. I'm not going to hold my breath. I'll update with any news as I'm sure i'm not the only one going through this.

  • Please help - extremely slow broadband/ technical ...

    Hi there,
for approx 2 weeks now there has been a change in our broadband connection. We have always experienced an acceptable broadband speed, but something suddenly changed recently and has left our broadband incredibly slow.
I noticed there was a BT openworld van in our street approx two weeks ago who seemed to be there for the whole day working on the telephone pole. Since he left that afternoon we have had terrible problems with our connection.
We are no longer able to do simple things such as stream videos, download anything or even open multiple tabs when browsing - its just too slow!
I did try a speed test linked from these forums which showed that the IP profile for my line is 135kbps, download speed achieved was 116kbps and "an upstream test was not conducted on this line due to a technical issue"
I'll be totally honest and say this all means nothing to me - I just want my broadband restored to its former self and actually be able to use it properly!
    HELP!

I run the initial speedtest using my ethernet cable - those hub readings were wifi connection.
Here are the speedtest results run a second time (ethernet)

  • Honestly i have a brand new iMac and lion has made start up extremely slow, and oovoo will not uninstall there is an error, so i tried to install java runner and the disc image is not working. i need oovoo someone.please.help.me.

worst $30 i ever spent. period.

Thanks for this mha007 - I can now open FF with a new profile. Can I copy my settings from the old profile or will this bring over the same problem, maybe a corrupt file. If it would bring the same problem, is there any way I can check which file is corrupt, apart from taking them over one by one?

  • EXTREMELY slow MacBook, will a restore help?

My MacBook Pro (mid 2012) is having major issues. It has 500GB of space and 4GB of memory, installed with OS Mavericks. I don't know what is causing it. After almost every click, the colour wheel appears and stays up for 30 seconds to 2 minutes. The computer has not been sleeping properly either. When I shut it, it should be sleeping, but the fans start running and heats up a LOT. The battery drops extremely quickly when that happens as well. It has become impossible to use my computer! I have tried resetting the PRAM and SMC multiple times. I have checked the activity monitor and everything looks normal. Is there anything else I can do?
Would doing a complete restore of the disk solve my problems? Also, if I were to backup my MacBook with Time Machine, could I put it back onto the restored computer? Or would that just reinstall the problem? Would it be better to manually import my iPhoto library, iTunes library, and documents?
    Thanks in advance

Things You Can Do To Resolve Slow Downs
If your computer seems to be running slower here are some things you can do:
    Start with visits to:     OS X Maintenance - MacAttorney;
                                      The X Lab: The X-FAQs;
                                      The Safe Mac » Mac Performance Guide;
                                      The Safe Mac » The myth of the dirty Mac;
                                      Mac maintenance Quick Assist.
Boot into Safe Mode then repair your hard drive and permissions:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions Pre-Lion
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    Repair the Hard Drive - Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the Utilites Menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD disk icon and click on the arrow button below.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. If no errors are reported, then click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Restart your computer normally and see if this has helped any. Next do some maintenance:
For situations Disk Utility cannot handle the best third-party utility is Disk Warrior;  DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible.
Note: Alsoft ships DW on a bootable DVD that will startup Macs running Snow Leopard or earlier. It cannot start Macs that came with Lion or later pre-installed, however, DW will work on those models.
    Suggestions for OS X Maintenance
OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep.  Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts was significantly reduced since Tiger.  These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard or later and should not be installed.
OS X automatically defragments files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive.
Under no circumstances should you install so-called maintenance software from MacPaw or ZeoBit (CleanMyMac/CleanMyDrive or Mac Keeper, respectively.) You do not need special software to maintain your computer.
    Helpful Links Regarding Malware Protection
If you are having an immediate problem with ads popping up see The Safe Mac » Adware Removal Guide and AdwareMedic.
Open Safari, select Preferences from the Safari menu. Click on Extensions icon in the toolbar. Disable all Extensions. If this stops your problem, then re-enable them one by one until the problem returns. Now remove that extension as it is causing the problem.
The following comes from user stevejobsfan0123. I have made minor changes to adapt to this presentation.
Fix Some Browser Pop-ups That Take Over Safari
Common pop-ups include a message saying the government has seized your computer and you must pay to have it released (often called "Moneypak"), or a phony message saying that your computer has been infected, and you need to call a tech support number (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it resolved. First, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and your computer has not been affected. This "hijack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so do not pay any money, call the listed number, or provide any personal information. This article will outline the solution to dismiss the pop-up.
    Quit Safari
Usually, these pop-ups will not go away by either clicking "OK" or "Cancel." Furthermore, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in gray, including the option to quit Safari. You will likely have to force quit Safari. To do this, press Command + option + esc, select Safari, and press Force Quit.
    Relaunch Safari
If you relaunch Safari, the page will reopen. To prevent this from happening, hold down the 'Shift' key while opening Safari. This will prevent windows from the last time Safari was running from reopening.
This will not work in all cases. The shift key must be held at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window reappears. In these circumstances, after force quitting Safari, turn off Wi-Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then relaunch Safari normally. It will try to reload the malicious webpage, but without a connection, it won't be able to. Navigate away from that page by entering a different URL, i.e. www.apple.com, and trying to load it. Now you can reconnect to the Internet, and the page you entered will appear rather than the malicious one.

If you require anti-virus protection Thomas Reed recommends using ClamXAV. (Thank you to Thomas Reed for this recommendation.)
From user Joe Bailey comes this equally useful advice:
    The facts are:
    1. There is no anti-malware software that can detect 100% of the malware out there.
    2. There is no anti-malware that can detect everything targeting the Mac.
    3. The very best way to prevent the most attacks is for you as the user to be aware that
the most successful malware attacks rely on very sophisticated social engineering
techniques preying on human avarice, ****, and fear.
    4. Internet popups saying the FBI, NSA, Microsoft, your ISP has detected malware on
your computer is intended to entice you to install their malware thinking it is a
        protection against malware.
    5. Some of the anti-malware products on the market are worse than the malware
from which they purport to protect you.
    6. Be cautious where you go on the internet.
    7. Only download anything from sites you know are safe.
    8. Avoid links you receive in email, always be suspicious even if you get something
you think is from a friend, but you were not expecting.
    9. If there is any question in your mind, then assume it is malware.
    Troubleshooting Applications
I recommend downloading a utility such as TinkerTool System, OnyX, Mavericks Cache Cleaner, or Cocktail that you can use for removing old log files and archives, clearing caches, etc. Corrupted cache, log, or temporary files can cause application or OS X crashes as well as kernel panics.
If you have Snow Leopard or Leopard, then for similar repairs install the freeware utility Applejack.  If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the command line.  Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard. Applejack does not work with Lion and later.
    Basic Backup
For some people Time Machine will be more than adequate. Time Machine is part of OS X. There are two components:
    1. A Time Machine preferences panel as part of System Preferences;
    2. A Time Machine application located in the Applications folder. It is
used to manage backups and to restore backups. Time Machine
requires a backup drive that is at least twice the capacity of the
        drive being backed up.
Alternatively, get an external drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
      1. Carbon Copy Cloner
      2. Get Backup
      3. Deja Vu
      4. SuperDuper!
      5. Synk Pro
      6. Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on backup and restore.  Also read How to Back Up and Restore Your Files. For help with using Time Machine visit Pondini's Time Machine FAQ for help with all things Time Machine.
Referenced software can be found at MacUpdate.
    Additional Hints
Be sure you have an adequate amount of RAM installed for the number of applications you run concurrently. Be sure you leave a minimum of 10% of the hard drive's capacity as free space.
Add more RAM. If your computer has less than 2 GBs of RAM and you are using OS X Leopard or later, then you can do with more RAM. Snow Leopard and Lion work much better with 4 GBs of RAM than their system minimums. The more concurrent applications you tend to use the more RAM you should have.
Always maintain at least 15 GBs or 10% of your hard drive's capacity as free space, whichever is greater. OS X is frequently accessing your hard drive, so providing adequate free space will keep things from slowing down.
Check for applications that may be hogging the CPU:
    Pre-Mavericks
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu.  Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order.  If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time (>=70,) then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar.  Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process.  See if that helps.  Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.
    Mavericks and later
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the View menu.  Click on the CPU tab in the toolbar.
Often this problem occurs because of a corrupted cache or preferences file or an attempt to write to a corrupted log file.

  • Extremely slow broadband speed

    Hi,
    Any help would be appreciated
I have recently had to move from my old BT Wireless Network 1250 route as it finally gave up after a number of years to the BT Home Hub V1.5, that has been in storage since it was sent to me.
The problem is the speed of the broadband has dropped considerably from a comfortable average of 3.5Mb to 0.5MB.
I changed the routers last Monday and the speed was slow during the week, I also had to restart the router on Friday as I installed the BT Broadband Accelerator that had just arrived.
The results from the BT Speed test are
Download speedachieved during the test was - 457 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 50-500 Kbps.

Any help anybody could give would be really appreciated

    Hi Christopher,
Recently you have synced at a very low speed which has driven your IP Profile down to 500kbps.
This will take around 5 days maximum to clear up. Make sure that you do not restart your router during this period.
    Hope this helps

  • Extremely slow broadband the last 3-4 weeks

    Hi
I've been a BT total broadband customer for years. I've not moved house for more than two years. I used to get actual download speeds in excess of 3mbps, I now struggle to get 300kbps. This has only happend in the last few weeks.
I've phoned BT's support and been through all the checks several times, microfilters, master telephone socket etc. I was put through to BT engineering who say they've made some changes to improve the speed but nothing has happend in real terms to the speed. They then said they'd call me back and haven't.
Can someone here help me? I used to enjoy reliable, high speed broadband but have had nothing but a dribble for the last few weeks. Just to reiterate - nothing has changed within my house. Everything is exactly how it was when I used to enjoys 10 times the speeds. At the moment it is essentially unusable except for basic web browsing.
Here is a recent speedtest taken today at 8.58pm, more than 3 days after the last router reset:
    Test1 comprises of two tests
    1. Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
    Download Speed
    233 Kbps
    0 Kbps
    500 Kbps
    Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 233 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 100-500 Kbps.
     Additional Information:
     Your DSL Connection Rate :572 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 440 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 350 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 24.15:15.86:59.99 (SBE:NBEBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
The results of this test will vary depending on the way your ISP has decided to use these traffic classes.
    2. Upstream Test:  -provides background information.
    Upload Speed
    343 Kbps
    0 Kbps
    440 Kbps
    Max Achievable Speed
    >Upload speed achieved during the test was - 343 Kbps
     Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 440 Kbps

  • Extremely Slow Broadband

Hello, I'm experiencing the same problem all the time. I was connected to BT broadband option 3 in April 2010 and since then I would say I had only a few "happy fast broadband" weeks. Which were at 1-1.5 Mbps. The rest of the time it was at or under 500 Kbps. IPprofile keeps going down, not once it was stuck at 128kbps, engineer visited about 5-6 times. Next visit is on the 8th February, next week. I have to take a day holiday again....etc. Very annoying!
I don't have any extensions, it is only the main BT socket, faceplate down, router connected directly into the socket. I tried a speedtester.bt.com test now, but it failed again. Speedtest.net results:
Ping 85ms (was always around 50-90ms)
    Download: 0.15 Mbps
    Upload 0.35 Mbps
Exchange is a bit far from me, but sometimes I have managed to get speeds up to 1.7Mbps, so I'm sure the line would be ok with a constant minimum of 1 Mbps. It is very annoying to pay £40 for an unacceptable slow internet. I'm thinking to invest money in legal action to teach BT a lesson and also It would be worth to be in the newspapers with the help of my friends EU wide and let the world know what a bad internet service people are experiencing in the UK.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Can't download bought songs in my iphone and support not helping

I have lost all my songs on my mac and iphone, why is not important. But i can't download the songs again that i bought on itunes in my iphone.
I have read all the articles in the support how to do but it's not working. The article says that i shall go to itunes-Moore-Purchases, and then download again.
But the problem is that when i go to Itunes-Moore, "Purchased" does not show up in the list, it  only shows Signals, Genius and downloads.
Please help me, would approciate that, im very very untechinical! And im from Sweden so poor english.
If you know exactly the problem then please mail me: [email protected]

    Hey Rahul,
The iTunes app is asking / telling something before the download hangs?
What you can do to check if it's a server, ISP or iTunes problem, is to make a direct download from Redmond Pie or OSXDaily just iOS not the firmware (unless you don't want to go back to a previous iOS version). Then do a manual update through iTunes, option + click Restore, choose the IPSW file and done.
    Hope this helps.

  • Adobe Tech Support NOT Helpful...WORTHLESS?!

    I'm flabbergasted, truly.
I've had one issue with InDesign and hyperlinking.  First, I posted the issue here to the forum.  No one responded.
So, I opened a case with Adobe tech support.  I uploaded sample files.  I responded in a timely manner.  I ran through every exercise they gave me.  Nothing seems to fix the issue.
After so many tries, Tech Support passes me on to someone else (I'm assuming they are escalating the issue?).
The new person starts from stratch, rather than building on the previous work.
Today, they even went so far as to ask me to upload samples/examples of the error and to ask me what the username and password was for the FTP.  Uh, its the FTP info that is listed on the tech support website on my case page.  Shouldn't THEY know this??  And I can clearly see my attachment of samples/examples right on my case webpage.
Am I missing something here??  Is Tech Support worthless??
    Case #181420799.
This is the second time I've tried to work this issue through tech support.  The first time, after samples/examples, etc., they referred me to Acrobat Developer forums...seriously.
    Insight??  Help??

Here's what I posted to tech support:  Here's my hyperlinking issue.
I have an InDesign document with 100+ hyperlinks. When a new hyperlink is created and the document exported to PDF, the new hyperli
nk repeats throughout the new PDF.
Each hyperlink is uniquely created and named.
    This is how I create:
    New Hyperlink Destination>
    Type: URL
    Name: Unique Name
    URL: http//www.uniquename.com
Then I type and select the text that I want to hyperlink.
    New Hyperlink>
    Name>Unique Name
    Type>URL
    Name: select the corresponding hyperlink
    click OK.
So, let's say I have 100 hyperlinks, and I need to add a new one, but the new one needs to go in the 51st spot. So, I complete all
the above steps.  When I export from InDesign to Acrobat, the 51st link now repeats from 51 through 100.
The only way for me to correct the error is to delete the hyperlinks (not the destinations) 51 through 100 from the palette and re-create them.
I've attached both the PDF and the ID file for your consideration.
    Operating System: Windows XP Professional
Has it ever worked? If so, what's changed? (provide comments in description field): No
Same results with different file?: No
Same results with different computer?: No
Recent System Hardware or Software change?: No

  • Extremely slow broadband speed recently

    Hi,
I've searched the forums for similar problems, and I'm not the only one who's had this particular one by the looks of it. I've been with BT Broadband for a good year, with no real problems and a pretty consistent downstream speed of around 750kbps (unusable by some peoples standards, but was fine for me) and IP profile to match.
Since about 2 weeks ago this has dropped considerably, to the point where my Homehub will now only sync to around 256kbps, sometimes 300 odd, and obviously this has made the internet pretty miserable to use.
My IP profile is no doubt at the bottom on 135kbps now due to the fact that I've had to try and reset the modem occasionaly to try and get an improvement in Downstream connection, but as far as I can gather from reading replies on this forum, there is no point in leaving the modem connected at 256 downstream or thats as high as my IP profile is going to rise, no matter how many days it's left on.
We've been through all the "connect to master/test socket" and replacing filters, and nothing has changed within the house, so I can't see why the downstream has suddenly decided to plummet after months of working well. I have noticed the noise margin on the router stats page is being a bit erratic (used to be stable at 6db downstream before, now flits between 6 and 13, both down and up).
We've obviously called BT on numerous occasions, with no success or help other than suggesting another engineer visit (last one said there was no problems, other than the fact that he couldn't believe we were happy with 0.5mb speeds  ). So any ideas? I know mods on here have been able to solve siimilar problems before, so I'm hoping someone will be able to help me out with this. I'll post router stats and speedtest below, but bear in mind the modem has been restarted again today so connection time and IP profile are no doubt affected by that.
