Where is the file size set so that i can change it??
Help please.
Thanks in advance.

Maybe the file was corrupted.
Have you a backup ?
Have you still the init.ora file ? Try to restart your db with an pfile instead, then recreate a spfile.

I don't think it is related to firewall/security, because other updates for flash, dreamweaver and others updated successfully.
I had the same issue with one of Dreamweaver CS5.5 updates, it wouldn't update no matter how many times i redownload (using Adobe Updater).
one aspect is that, it takes its time downloading updates, but fails upon applying them, so links (accessing web) is not an issue here.
Also, looking at the error message, it says file size mismatch, and it appeard just ONE second after trying to download sig files
it's possible that, either sig file size mismatches what's written in webfeed file (or whatever "manifest" file as referred to in log),
    or
dmg file size as written in sig file does not match the one dowloaded. as sig (signature) files are small, around 5k each. (could have been downloaded in less than one second).
I don't know why I haven't seen anyone else complaining from the same problem, though seemingly sig files are the same for same dmgs.
Or, I could have been the first to complain, and what I did worked for them too, hopefully

  • ACE4710 Show crypto files displays file size mismatch

For some reason when I compare backup and active ACE4710 certs size I have a size mismatch on 2 certs. I have done everything I can think of to elimanate this mismatch in size. I start off on the active with crypto import terminal xyz.pem which then a show crypto files displays as say 1800 then through a console session with putty I attach to the backup where i use the export from the master and run the same import command then show crypto file again where there is a  significant file size difference. Could this be as a result of the serial connection versus the telnet session otherwise on the master? I know that the master is using the correct file size cert as it is up and tested where unless I do a failover to the backup I do not know the cert will work and as well crypto verify shows both sets match on active and backup?  Right now I am in a warm standby state for ft as a result. Thanks.

    Hi,
Figured out a fix. What I later came to realize is that I had originally uploaded through FTP the key and cert pem as one file which then the system seperated (with an ultimate  file size based on this procedure) did not later match my copy and paste import file size for the two already seperate files. As well I was very carefull about white space and verify was done on both active and backup ACEs and the key pair in question. I was able to fix the problem by exporting from the copy and paste version and then re importing to the other device also through the terminal then use the new ones in the SSL proxy config for the pair in question. Then delete the FTP uploaded cert and key. Thanks for your help.

  • Oracle 10g R2 Database Redo Log Files

I had 3 redo log files, each of size 50 MB. i added 3 more redo log files, each of size 250 MB.
Database is running in archive mode, files are generating with different sizes like 44 MB and 240 MB, i need to know is this harm for database or not?
to make all archive redo log files generation of equal size what should i do?
    Please guide

    Waheed,
When the redo log switch willbe happening, oracle would be asking archiver to log that into the archive file.So in case you have any parameters set to make the switch happen at certain time, depending on the activity of teh database, the archive file size may vary. There is no harm wit the different sizes of the files. What matters is the transaction informaiton contained in them not their size.
to make all archive redo log files generation of equal size what should i do?
As mentioned by Syed, you can make the switch happen at a defined interval which will not ensure but still will be a step to make the archive files of the same size. But I shall say you should bother more about making sure that the files are available rather than their size.

  • File sizes on shared reviews are becoming quite huge... how to reduce?

We have many .pdf's that are shared out for review for users to make comments on.  It appears that every single stroke is being recorded as a markup which may be causing the huge increase in the .pdf file size.  Is there a way to condense these comments, or make acrobat only record a series of commenting under a single user?
Some of these .pdfs jump 500kb just from a few boxes and lines drawn.
    Any help?

Ok these are P&ID's.  (Process and Instrument Diagrams)  So yes in a way they are CAD drawings.
They start out around 50-60kb's.  Then people will come in do mark-ups on them, sometimes drawing in boxes, small valves, pumps, etc.  And will add text comments against these.
Eventually with enough comments the size starts getting up into the 600-700kb range.  This creates a burden on our oversea workshares who have to retrieve these huge file sizes.  We also have a worry that the .pdf will start dropping comments once the file size gets too large as other projecs before us have reported.

  • Open Reference VI dependent on file size?

I am using Open Vi reference to pop up VI's where I can change values. When I close the VI that popped up, I can select another VI to open if I choose to edit the values associated with that VI.
My problem is, the code I am using work great with two of the three VI's. The only VI that it doesnt work on is the largest in size of the three... around 900KB. All the code to open vi reference is shared, so everything is exactly the same. I've checked the spelling and stupid errors at least 10 times over, so I was starting to wonder if the file size affected anything. Thought maybe if the file was too large that it couldn't be opened.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Matt

Nevermind ... the name I was sending to the Open VI reference must have had an extra space.... making it extra hard to spot, considering all the spellings were correct.... GRR.... its always something stupid.

  • DBA studio: Error add/connect database "Failed to parse tnsnames.ora file"

I have Oracle (version 8.1.7) installed in my XP machine and when I try to (having chosen "Launch DBA Studio standalone") to open a connection I get:
    "Failed to parse tnsnames.ora file
    ERROR: 100 -- NLNV-NLNV String Format Error".
Also got this when I tried to manually add a database to a tree.
I can access the databases listed in my tnsnames.ora using SQL Plus with no error.
    This is my tnsnames.ora.

    (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = oorcl))
Does anybody have any idea what is wrong? Thanks a lot. Changsong

Just found out this IS a string error in my Tnsname.ora. What i did is deleting all the entries in my tnsname.ora, and start adding each one back. I found one particular entry is responsible for the error. This is the old text
    serv32.xxx.ge.com =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (COMMUNITY = TCP)(PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = sevr32.xxy.ge.com)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = atmo32))
just looking by itself I can't see anything wrong. I just formatted it a little, making it looked like the other one that is working
    serv32.xxx.ge.com =(DESCRIPTION =
         (ADDRESS_LIST =
         (ADDRESS =
         (COMMUNITY = TCP)
         (PROTOCOL = TCP)
         (HOST = sevr32.xxy.ge.com)
         (PORT = 1521)))
         (CONNECT_DATA=
         (SID = atmo32)))
and now it works fine. I Really can't tell the difference, except that some words were moved to the other line. What puzzled me is that the same old tnsname.ora worked in almost all the other circumstances, like sql plus, and other database enginee. But it is just not good enough for dba studio?
I admit I probably should have used the network utility to add a connection to avoid this type of format error.
Anyhow, I'm glad it is solved. by the way, the symjct.dll mentioned in the previous post should be symcjit.dll. I guess he mispelled the name. I renamed it to symcjit_old.dll and now the java error was gone. So that is another gain from this post. Thanks Joel for all the information.

  • Tnsnames.ora / listener.ora files on Oracle Standby Database

Hi I am configuring an Oracle Standby Database to my production system 4.7 and Oracle 9.2.0.4
    My production server is: PR01
    Database SID: PRD
    Standby database server is: PRDR
    Database SID: PRD
I have already configured the server to a standby database offline backup. Was generated the control files of the standby database and the database is in standby mode.
Now I will create a script to start the synchronization of offline redolog from the production server to standby server.
I have a question: in the document SAP Oracle Standby Database, tells me I should change the tnsnames.ora production server pointing to an additional entry disaster recovery server. The tnsnames.ora  file must have two entries???  corresponding to a production server and another to the disaster recovery server??
In several links of oracle tells me I should configure listener.ora disaster recovery server that is true??
Guys my question is: where should I change my listener.ora and tnsnames.ora files?
    Please clear my doubt.
    Best regards,
    Desiree

    Hi Desiree,
The entry in your TNSNAMES.ORA is a nothing but a tns service, when you define archive log destination it will point to a service. This service's host name will be resolved in your tnsnsmaes.ora file.
Below is the eg of an entry in pfile:
    *.log_archive_dest_2='SERVICE=<service_name> ARCH OPTIONAL'
Below is the entry in your tnsnames.ora file
    <service_name>.WORLD=
      (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS =
              (COMMUNITY = SAP.WORLD)
              (PROTOCOL = TCP)
              (HOST = <DR_HOST>)
              (PORT = 1527)
        (CONNECT_DATA =
           (SID = <DB_SID>)
           (GLOBAL_NAME = <DB_SID>.WORLD)
So, your tnsnames.ora will have one entry for your host and the other for the DR host, i.e two entries.
Listener entry for the convenience when there is a switch over.
    Regards,
    Bala

  • Determine database started in spfile or init file

    Hi,
Anyone got any idea how to check whether the database
is started using spfile or initfile...Beside this anyway to set it to start by initfile. So that every time when i isued SQL>startup, it will startup using the init file..
    Thank You...

Why shouldn't you use the spfile ?
Anyway, you can remove (or rename) it, using an OS command. Normally it is in $ORACLE_HOME/dbs (Unix/Linux) or ORACLE_HOME\database (Windows). In the same directory you must have the initSID.ora file, if you don' want to specify it when starting the DB up.
Of course you know that without spfile you cannot do any permanent changes to dynamic parameters.

  • Can't start database getting ORA-01081 error

    Hi Everyone,
I am having an odd issue. Last week we had to take down a database hard due to an issue with san space on an AIX server. Once doing this I brought the database up without issue.
We have a cold backup script that runs nightly that shutdowns and startups the database but we are having an issue:
Database goes downs no problem with backup script:
    SQL> Database closed.
    Database dismounted.
    ORACLE instance shut down.
But when it attempts to start the database it comes back with the following error:
ORA-01081: cannot start already-running ORACLE - shut it down first
Yet I can login to the server and start it without issue.
Then last night I shut it down manually to see what is going on. I shut it down and checked on the server (ps -ef |grep db1) but didn't see any processes out there for that database. When backup kicked off again shut it down but couldn't start due to ora-01081 error. But I could start it this morning.
Am I missing something here? I see no processes running but clearly something is causing this error?
    Thanks
