Fcpx and iphoto importing problem

Just bought fcpx.  All of my media is on my macbook (on iPhoto: i don't have iMovie).  fcpx is not allowing me to import my media from iPhoto.  what to do?

It's probably in a format not used by FCP. Can't tell from this information. Best to get your video out of the iPhoto library before you import it. Do not use iPhoto for video with pro apps.

  • IPhoto Importing Problem

When I tried to import a video on Iphoto (Which I've done many times)
    It is saying:
iPhoto cannot import your photos because there was a problem downloading an image.
And I emptied the trash on my dock, and in Iphoto.
    Any Help?

What system and iPhoto versions are your using?  How are you trying to upload the video from the camera?  Have you tried using Image Capture to upload to the Desktop and then into iPhoto.
If you're able to do that reformat the memory card in the camera, take another videos and try again the way to did originally.

  • Aperture 3.1.3 and iPhoto sync problems

Upgraded to Aperture 3.1.3. Then upgraded to Lion. Tried to sync my iPhone and it got as far as photo's and got a -50 Sync error. Went to iTunes and turned off photo sync and the phone syn'd perfectly. Went back to iTunes turned photo sync back on, and got an error again. Went to iTunes turned off sync and checked the option to remove my photo's from the phone. Sync worked fine. Turned the photo sync back on, and it errored out when it was trying to reload the pictures. Turned off the Aperture photo sync and changed it to iPhoto. The next sync it reloaded my 1,500 photos without a hitch.
Bottom line: I explained all I have gone through so you can understand that it is not a corrupt photo library on the phone, and iPhoto sync'd fine, so it certainly appears that Aperture is once again the problem.

I am getting the same "Unknown error (-50)" when trying to sync photos from my Aperture 3 library now.
I did not upgrade to Lion (waiting for a 3rd party driver I need to be updated first for it), but I did update iTunes to 10.4 (80) recently and that is when I noticed the issue.
I haven't had this issue before. It syncs everything else but when iTunes goes from "Analyzing Photos" to "Optimizing Photos" in the sync process it reports that it is unable to sync because of an "unknown error (-50)"
To resolve the problem, I tried the following:
I repaired my Aperture library database (using Option+Command when launching Aperture 3).
Deleted the "iPod Photo Cache" folder inside my Aperture library. It had to resync all my photos again, this time it worked, but the next sync it had the same error again.
Updated my iOS to the latest version.
Did a Repair Disk Permissions on my Mac.
I changed USB cables and ports (using only ports directly on my Mac Pro).
Tried syncing with only iTunes running.
Doing all the above made no difference, I am still getting the error message and it won't sync new photos back to my iPhone 4 now.

  • IPhoto Import Problem, MacBook Air

iPhoto on my new MacBook Air (Mountain Lion) won't import all photos from my Nokia N Series mobile phone via USB cable; it sees some but not all photos, other times says the jpeg format is not a recognizable format. Can anyone help? I've never had this problem on my MacBook Pro before.

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Solved my iPhoto import problems!

I have a large iPhoto database of about 35,000 photos, taking up about 160gb. I imported the iPhoto database into Aperture 3 and suddenly only had 8000 photos....Hmmm!
I tried leaving them in the iPhoto library and tried moving them to the A3 library and no matter what I did - I always ended up with about 8k photos. I never had any crashes, just never had a accurate A3 library.
After reading through a lot of threads, I realized I'm not the only one having issues while importing from iPhoto. I finally decided to backup my iPhoto library and then let iPhoto rebuild the library database (which took about 4 hours). After rebuilding the iPhoto library... iPhoto seems much snappier and much quicker than before.
I'm now reimporting my new iPhoto library into A3 and it IS SEEING all 35k photos. Also, I can tell this is going to take a while and it's going to need to run overnight... We'll see what happens in the morning, but it looks like all 35k photos are finally going to make into the A3 library. Hope this helps someone...

I have been getting the same problem. I have fewer photos, so rebuilding my iPhoto library didn't take too long. I tried re-importing the iPhoto library into a new AP3 library, but to no avail. I'm still only getting 17% of my library imported, and the faces and places tags are still screwed up.
Please let me know if this worked for you.

  • Managed accounts and iPhoto importing

Hey, quick question for you guys - I recently upgraded to 10.4, and decided to give my daughter an account on the computer. Limited, naturally, as she's 7. One of the things I want her to be able to do is to import photos into her own photo library (she just got her first digital camera and is very excited ). Unfortunately, I can't seem to get iPhoto to allow importing while under a managed account. I found an Apple document, pointing me to include a few extra things in the library to allow importing to work, but it's still a no-go for me. (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25736).
Any thoughts on what to tackle next? I'm wondering if the USB PTP manager needs to be enabled, but I don't know where it resides on the system...

Just iPhoto, Image Capture and then the checkbox in the section above that says 'Allow supporting Programs.'
Those were the only three things checked. (This is using Some Limits, not Simple Finder)

  • IPhoto import problem

When I try to import my iphoto library it only imports 1600 photos out of over 6000, Ive tried it a few times and always same result
    Anyone any clue?
    Cheers

Aperture 3.0.2 does not solve this for me.
Out of 59 iPhoto events containing 1,437 images/videos altogether (mostly JPEGs), 21 partial events containing 216 images/videos get imported.
I've tried "Import iPhoto Library" into the Aperture library and as references, with "Do not import duplicates" checked and unchecked, all with the same result.
I've tried importing individual events and all of the events at the same time using the iPhoto browser. In both cases, I was told "Import Items Completed with Errors" and only a few hundred files were imported.
I've tried to rebuild the iPhoto library with "Examine and repair iPhoto Library file permissions", "Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" and "Reclaim unused disk space from databases" checked.
I checked the Console for Aperture error messages, and found:

And this is with a tiny iPhoto library! Clearly, someone didn't do their job very well.

  • Iphone and iphoto syncing problems

Ive been importing my photos to my mac to clear up some space on my iphone, however every time my photos get moved on my mac, they somehow sync back onto my iphone as an album called "Events - From my mac" & "Last 12 months" which puts every photo i had just imported from my phone, back onto my phone. The problem is, these albums are 'un-deletable.' I initially thought it was my icloud but i turned off all my photo streams and what not so i dont think its that.. can anyone pls help me??! :-(

It could be that it is doing a sync from iTunes. Start iTunes with the phone connected, click on the phone under devices in the left pane of iTunes and then click on Photos in the list across the top and look to see what you have selected to sync. If you want to delete all of the synced albums on the phone, remove the checkmark in front of "Sync Photos From" on that page and sync again; if you want to delete some, change the selection and sync again. Each time you sync via iTunes it sets the non-Camera Roll photos on the phone to match the current settings in iTunes.

  • CLASSPATH and or import problem

    Group,
I've have some template java code which has been generated by
a third party product, PeopleSoft to be exact.
I've tweaked the code and it compiles.
When running the code (Java -cp . tscrpt_rqst_ci ) I get the following
    exception,
"Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: psft/pt8/joa/API
    at tscrpt_rqst_ci.main(tscrpt_rqst_ci.java, Compiled Code)"
    The java code has an import statement, import psft.pt8.joa.*;
It is possible that the above package is inside a jar file?
In my research it seems that the package is in a jar file called
PSJOA.JAR and that I need to add it to my CLASSPATH, which I have
done but continue to get exceptions. I've also copied the JAR file
to the directory in which I'm executing out of, that didn't work
    either.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Jim

When running the code (Java -cp . tscrpt_rqst_ci ) I...Your classpath is specified by the -cp thing. In this case only the current directory.
...I need to add it to my CLASSPATH, which I have done...No you didn't.
    java -cp .;\path\that.jar;\other\needed\jars\blah.jar...

  • Iphoto Import problems

    Hi guys,
Ive had my panasonic camcorder for sometime now and i am never able to get the videos off the camera unless i go into imovie and import them through there which will not work for this small project as i need each clip individually. When i plug in my camera this comes up
No video or anything. Also there is no way i can drag the clips off the file cause the file is no where to be found on it. But when open it with imovie it finds it and looks like this
I need to be able to import it as different clips cause there is going to be around 200-300 clips.
Is there another way to import it? or am i doing something wrong?

Look at the file extension? Read the camcorder manual? Check teh CamCorder menues to see if format is selectable? look at the movie info in iMovie? in the finder? in QuickTime?

  • IPhoto import problems from Canon EOS 300D.

iPhoto recognises the camera, says it is 'loading' but just hangs there. Tried all trouble shooting tips. My pocket Canon IXUS camera works fine (iMac running Yosemite latest version of iPhoto).

Hi Keith, I had the same problem with my Canon 300D on iPhoto/iMac/Yosemite. What worked for me was changing the setting on my camera, menu-tools2, communication: normal -> PTP. This was a trick I found on a MS Windows forum (win7/win8 support). Hope this works for you as well! (you might need to wait a bit if you have a lot of pictures, the flashing red led will promise success )
    Cheers, AR

  • Signed applets and commandline import problems

    Hi!
I'm working on an applet that uses SVNKit. Because of SVNKit (subversion system, written in java) my applet needs to be signed. My signing script works fine until I want to use the svnkit.jar. I don't get any error messages using the svnkit.jar file either, but the applet won't load. How do import this library properly in my signing process?
My bash-script that does the signing:
    #!/bin.sh
    javac -classpath .:SVNKitLibs/svnkit.jar SVNApplet.java
    jar cvf SVNApplet.jar SVNApplet.class
    rm stormstore
keytool -genkey -alias signFiles -keystore stormstore -keypass apasswd -dname "cn=storm" -storepass apasswd
jarsigner -keystore stormstore -storepass apasswd -keypass apasswd -signedjar SignedSVNApplet.jar SVNApplet.jar signFiles
keytool -export -keystore stormstore -storepass apasswd -alias signFiles -file storm.cer

Thanks for your help, Surendra. For some reason I could not make it work in any other way than actually extracting all contents of svnkit.jar and then moving the org-folder to project root folder. The command is now:
    jar cvf SVNApplet.jar SVNApplet.class org

  • IPhoto 9.1.5 import problems

I import from my Sony camera, everything imports fine.  The pictures show up in the "last import", I can double click a picture and see it.  When I go to the events I see the event thumbnail I just imported, I can scroll through the thumbnails.  When I double click the event iPhoto says there are no photos.  When I restart iPhoto the event is gone and so are the pictures.
I go into the database and I can actually find the pictures.  They are just not showing up in iPhoto after the import.  I have done this several times.
I have tried to rebuild the library and none of the imported pictures show up and the import problem persists.
    Any suggestions ?
    Mike

DId you rebuild with  iPhoto Library Manager
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
