Feature Request: Microsoft Excel 2013 - Don't hide status bar text on focus lost (AVERAGE, COUNT, SUM)

Could you please disable hiding of status bar text on focus lost.
I use this in Excel 2013, where I select a few cells, then move to another Excel to write the sum of those cells as read from the status bar or to check with other values in the second window. This really makes my life easier and I see no reason to hide
the status bar text when the window looses focus.

Can BPC Release 7.5.112.07 run on MicroSoft Excel 2013? We are currently running BPC on Excel 2010. There's a new feature in Office 365, that when we bring up a new BPC report, Excel will open up essentially a new Excel application and the BPC add-in is not replicated in the new Excel application.
Our IT team mentioned updating registries to prevent a new Excel app for generating, but they said that this approach may revert (erase the reg update) once a new software update is done.

Microsoft Office 2013 is supported in BPC 10 sp13 and EPM Add-in sp14, support for BPC 7.5 will end on march 2016 so I don't think they will support it in 7.5 version also in future.
Forgot to add, same for office 365 not supported in 7.5 but only in 10 version with epm sp18 see please 1999305 - Microsoft Office 365 users are unable to install SAP EPM Add-in

Microsoft Excel 2013 add-in not working after update

We are an organization with over 200 users and are currently using Microsoft Office 2013 (Click-to-run install via Office 365 portal), we have noticed that in Excel when we apply the monthly Office update, the add-in (e.g. Analysis Toolpak) would stop working
with the following error message displayed.
I tried updating from 15.0.4631.1004 to 15.0.4641.1003,
15.0.4641.1003 to 15.0.4649.1004, they all gave the same results.
I have checked the captioned file path and it is indeed missing, I think the update mechanism messed up the add-in somehow, a full re-install would fix it as quick or online repair is not doing the trick. This is not the only add-in it is affecting
as there are some 3rd party add-ins are affected as well.
Please advise how we can fix this without needing to re-install Microsoft Office. Thank you!

I don't have 365 or C2R so I can't address your main question, so just a few thoughts which may not be applicable in your setup.
Check the addin manager to see if your addins are listed and ticked. If listed (ticked or not) check the registry to see where the location is written, if ticked look here
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Excel\Options
and look for keys named OPENx, where x is the order number the addin is loaded
if not "ticked" instead of \Options look in \Add-in-Manager
With a VBA macro or in the VBE's immediate window return
Application.LibraryPath
Assuming you found a listing in the registry do the paths match, if not look in the .LibraryPath to see if the addins got unloaded there into the subfolder \Analysis
If you find the file(s) try un-installing and reinstalling the addins, but browse to the actual folder don't simply tick. If you can't find the files, copy them (from a different system) to the folder indicated by .LibraryPath. In the addin manager uninstall
them if installed, close the manager, open it again and the addins should be listed, tick to re-install.
You say your other addins don't work, I wonder if some mixup has occurred with what Excel thinks is the default path, but note for other addins the default addins path is returned by app.UserLibraryPath
Are you using a Chinese system?

Encryption Type in Microsoft Excel 2013 (XLS file)

I am creating a password protected file of format Excel 97-2003 Workbook (.xls) using Microsoft Office 2013.
I have written a java program to read password protected excel file using POI API. I am able to read .xlsx file using this API, but I am not able to read .xls file. It throw error : org.apache.poi.hssf.record.RecordFormatException: Unknown encryption

Using same java code I am able to read .xls file if I use Microsoft Office 2010 to create this file.
As per POI API documentation:

XLS - RC4 Encryption
XML-based formats (XLSX, DOCX and etc) - AES and Agile Encryption
I think in Microsoft Office 2013, encryption type has been change for XLS file. So I want to know that how can I solve this issue. Also please let me know how to configure Encryption Type in Microsoft Excel 2013 Excel file.

If you are running 32-bit Office, then you must install the 32-bit version of Power Query even if you are running 64-bit Windows.

Programatically pick PowerView properties from Microsoft Excel 2013 file

Hi,
I have a requirement to programmatically read/handle PowerView properties like title, theme, background, font-size etc. from a Microsoft Excel 2013 file. Also I need to access the properties of the objects which are added on to the PowerView,
for e.g. properties of a table or a image added to the PowerView.
I have been looking for it since long, but no luck. Is there a way by which I can achieve it? Any pointers regarding this would be really helpful.

As per your answer, PowerView is an add-on and hence it is packaged and properties can't be picked.
But, PowerPivot is also a com add-in still there exists a programming handle for it. We are able to pick several properties for PowerPivot using Interop.
For PowerView, I am able to see certain bin files getting created but am unable to pick any information from those.
(Bin files namely CustomProperties1.bin, CustomProperties2.bin, CustomProperties3.bin, CustomProperties4.bin, CustomProperties5.bin)
Is there any way by which we can pick certain properties for Power View as well using these files or maybe some other way?

My iTunes 11 Mac Install is Missing "View- Show/Hide Status Bar" Options

Okay...this is weird. I did an upgrade from iTunes 10 to 11 on my Snow Leopard MacBook Air. Under the "View" menu, it has the "Show Sidebar" option. However, it does NOT have the "Show Status Bar" or "Hide Status Bar" options at all (screen shot below). What gives???

Our two Macs also lack the "Show/Hide Status Bar" View menu item. This is a giant fail on Apple's part— I am being inundated with support calls about this. I have found a link to iTunes 10.7 and am advising all upset clients to dump iTunes 11 and download and re-install iTunes 10.7 until the issues are fixed.
Among other issues: iTunes 11 no longer automatically imports mp3 optical disks into its library as it did in iTunes 10.7.
Now, when we want to import mp3s from an optical disk, we have to do it manually:
1) insert optical disk
2) select File>Add to Library (or Command-O)
3) click on the optical disk in in the Devices sidebar of the dialog box that opens
4) select the tracks to install
5) click "Okay" or hit the Return key
5 steps to accomplish what once happened upon just inserting the disk!
If my clients are any indication, this is a pretty big deal. Apple would be well-advised to fix this fast.

Microsoft excel 2013 stops working and getting very slow when I work in one file

I am using windows 8.1 pro in my office and I have excel 2013,
When I'm working on excel generally there is no problem, but I have an excel file which I work on in it's too slow and stops working, I have also tried to open the same file in another computer which is having the same problem.
while I was using Office 2010 it was working very fine, I can also share my file with you if you want in order to be checked and resolved.

You can share the file with us by sending it to GBSD TN Office Information Collection [email protected] Be sure that you have the private information hidden.
Meanwhile, since it works fine in Office 2010, we can try to open the file in Excel 2010, then go to File > Options > Formulas, check if you have enabled iterative calculation. If so, uncheck the check box and switch the workbook calculation to Manually.
Then, save the changes and then open the modified excel using Excel 2013 to see the result.
Please let me know the result.

Presentation Designer 2011 SP4 Setup Not Recognizing 32-Bit Microsoft Excel 2013

I have 32-bit Microsoft Office Excel (with 2013 office suite) installed. When I try to install the SAP Crystal Presentation Design 2011 software, the setup prerequisite check is stating that I am missing Microsoft Office Excel (XP or higher) 32-bit.
How do I install Crystal Reports Presentation Designer without having to use Microsoft Excel 2003?
Does anyone know when (estimated guess) Crystal Reports Presentation Designer is scheduled to fully support 2013?

You have to use SAP Crystal Dashboard Design 2013 which does support MS Office 2013, but I've read that it is not great, so I would not recommend it and to use MS Office 2010 if you can.

Feature Request:- Option to reply to reply to emails in text

Hi there....
Is it possible to set up replying to emails to send text (with no html)
If not, can i get a feature request to send emails in text, or is there an app that has this feature?
It is sad I get maybe between 40 and 100 emails a day, that I cannot reply to on my Touchpad, or Pre 2, as they only allow text email return.
as of 2007, there were over 109 million yahoo group members across 8.8 million groups. Mostly support forums, sending and recieving emails to and from 109 million people.
These support forums and other ghelp yahoo groups, require emails to be received in text, and in our email apps had to set for text only, to avoid viruses and other attempts at marketting.
I get my yahoo support emails, on webos, but cannot reply from webos, and have to wait until i get to my laptop with thunderbird.
please can you add text send/reply option for those 109 million plus yahoo group users who cannot reply to yahoo groups emails.

Managing layered PSD files in Aperture
For those who absolutely must manage layered PSD files in Aperture, here is the way to do it...
1- In your original PSD file, HIDE ALL LAYERS above the background layer
2- IMPORT this PSD file into Aperture
3- CREATE A VERSION in Aperture by choosing to edit externally in Photoshop.
4- Back in Photoshop OPEN THE ORIGINAL PSD file along with the new version
5- LINK all the LAYERS in the original PSD file and DRAG them TO the new VERSION (holding the shift key down so they pin register)
6- SAVE the new version in Photoshop
7- Back in Aperture your version is now an exact layered copy of your original which will not flatten when reopened from Aperture into Photoshop.
Obviously this process will be rather tedious if you need to deal with hundreds of layered PSD files, but if you are in that situation that implies you already have a workflow and a storage strategy that works well for you. So why change, especially to Aperture?
Adobe Bridge or Media Pro or Portfolio are the obvious programs for you !

How to show/hide status bar programatically in openGL ES app?

Ok, I started with an openGL ES app and can draw my window where I want to display it.
However, even though the xib file says <<no status bar>>, when I run my app, I get a status bar with a white background which overlays the top part of my graphics. In my app. I want to use all 320x480 pixels for the background tableau and have no need for a status bar...
How can I enable or disable this programmatically?

The best way to hide the status bar for the life of your program is in Info.plist:
1) Expand the Resources folder in the Xcode Group & Files tree and open Info.plist;
2) If you already have a key named "UIStatusBarHidden", continue with step 5;
3) Ctrl-click in the last row of the Key column and select Add Row from the floating menu;
4) Copy and Paste UIStatusBarHidden into the edit cell for the new row and hit Return;
5) Ctrl-click on UIStatusBarHidden and select Value Type->Boolean from the menu;
6) A check box should now appear in the Value column; check that box;
7) If unsure about what you've done, close the Info.plist window, select Don't Save, and start over;
8) Cmd-S (File->Save from the top Xcode menu) to save Info.plist.
If you want the status bar to return at some point:
[[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden:NO animated:YES];
If you don't wish to change any of your OpenGL files to .m, just wrap the above in an extern C function (e.g. in main.m).

Hide Status Bar

I have a personal domain name from godaddy. I enabled masking and forwarding so that my .mac created pages can be accessed via my personal domain name. That works fine.
Here's where the problem is: When I'm at my personal domain name website and hover over pages created from .mac, the status bar first shows my .mac site (go to http://web.mac.com/username/......) and then loads the personal domain name.
I went to several sites but cannot figure out where to put the code to hide my web.mac.com.username site for the brief moment that it shows up in the status bar.

I have a Mac Mini G4 PPC and cannot find the command (anymore ;-) to hide/show the Status Bar in my Finder windows. Under 'View' it is permanently grey and I cannot find a keyboard command :-((
