Federated Portal: accessing content,  through Consumer, stored on Producer

Hello Guys,
I am working on a project which has a Federated Portal Network scenario. Details of it are as follows:
Details:
SAP EP 7.0 with SP11. Two portal installations: Consumer and Producer. Both Consumer and Producer are used for logging on by users. Consumer does not have any content. Users logging on to Consumer accesses all the content from Producer rendered through Remote Role Assignment which works fine. Through Consumer, I am able to access in Top Level Navigation, the Role and all assigned worksets, of the Producer. For a particular workset I have a page containing an AppIntegrator iView. AppIntegrator iView is being used as we are catering to more than one language on the portals. This AppIntegrator iView is rendering an HTML page which is stored in a KM repository on Producer (as I mentioned all content is on Producer). The path to the HTML page on KM repository is given in the URL Template property of the AppIntegrator iView created on the Producer. The path for example is something like: <System.protocol>://<System.server>:<System.port>/irj/go/km/docs/myrepository/testPage/<Request.Language>/includes/mypage.html
The links on the HTML page are all relative links. For eg, {a href = "/irj/portal/theQuickLink" target="_top"}. The behaviour I want is to navigate to the workset/page once I click the link on the HTML page while staying in the Consumer portal.
Problem/Question:
On the Consumer I see the HTML page and till this point the navigation is in Consumer portal. But when I click on any of the links on this page the navigation takes me to the Producer URL. I am transferred to the Producer portal and am no longer in the Consumer portal.
Thanks in advance.
Kaushik

Vinoth,
I am aware about the solution provided by you. But my problem here is the Server name + port and not the rest of the URL.
For eg. my consumer portal is http://Aserver:50000
and producer portal is http://Bserver:51000.
While I am able to access the HTML page via consumer and till then the URL has the consumer Server + port details (for eg. http://Aserver:50000), once I click any link on it the URL in the address bar of the browser window changes to that of the producer for eg http://Bserver:51000. All subsequent browsing happens in the producer as I am transferred to the Producer.
Let me know if anybody has more suggestions.
Thanks,
Kaushik

  • How to make Federated Portal Network Content available in a Consumer Portal

    Hello Experts,
    we have the following situation:
We have two NW 7.0 Portals: 1 Main Portal on and 1 BI-Portal
We would like to do a remote role assignment via the Federated Portal option in the Portal, so that we can make the BEX-Explorer role from the BI Portal available in our main Portal.
I've already created a connection to the BI-Portal (Producer-Portal) in "Federated Portal" and have already registered the main portal as the Consumer in the BI Portal. I used SAP Help for that:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/67/7e70424edcc553e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
Now I have the problem, that I can not find the remote role from the BI Portal in the Identity Management of our main Portal? Does anybody has a idea (or maybe a solution ) how to fix this problem? The SAP Help is not very helpful, it always deals with the same notes...
    Regards
    Andreas
PS: Of course u can earn points!!!!

    Hi
first of all i would check that the SSO is working between the two portals..
Log into one of the portal.. Change the URL to the other portal. If you have to log in, then there is a problem with your SSO. Remember to have enough permission on both the portal.
If that works, then log into the consumer portal and check what you find in the portal content of the producer portal.
Let me know the result, and I will help you further..

However when I access the portal home page through apache filter, it does not
    filtered.
Apache filter all the out of type text/html.
What could be the problem. If any one has some idea about it please let me know.

  • Access content and metadata stored in VCR using SP1 api in weblogic Portal

    Hi
I have configured Virtual Content Repository (VCR), I am able to see all the contents in VCR, that is stored in Oracle UCM. I need to know how I can get the content and metadata of the stored content using SPI api and display the metadata of contents present in a particular folder and display it in weblogic portal.
Please provide any sample code how to acess that also helap me a lot.

To get started, you might want to look at the CM JSP tag library. With this tag library, it's straight forward to fetch a content Node and display the data. See the following tag lib documentation: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15919_01/wlp.1032/e14256/content/cm/tld-summary.html
The tag doc includes some sample code showing the usage of the tags.
For more advanced, or non-JSP usage, see the javadoc for com.bea.content.federated package. http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15919_01/wlp.1032/e14255/com/bea/content/federated/package-summary.html

  • In Federated portal's consumer, cannnot see the roles from producer

We are configuring a Federated Portal.
On the consumer's UME, we can see the producer in the UME data source
drop down. However NO roles can be seen under this producer.
    The connection test is successful.
    Can anybody help with this?
    Points guaranteed. Thanks!

Hmmm. Not sure - are starting on SP13.
    Isn't there a proxy-to-remote migration tool?
    From Release Notes for SP10:
<b>New Migration Tool for Remote Role Assignment
In SAP NetWeaver SPS9, the remote role assignment mechanism changed. We described delete-recreate procedure you needed to perform if you wanted to create new remote role assignments with an existing producer or proxy-to-remote role from SAPNetWeaver SPS8 and earlier (see Implementing a Federated Portal Network (Enhanced and Changed)).
In SAP NetWeaver SPS10, we now offer a migration tool instead of the manual delete-then-recreate procedure. The tool searches for existing producer objects that contain old proxy-to-remote roles assignments (created prior to SAP NW7.0 SPS9), and updates them with the newer remote role assignment capabilities provided by the User Management Engine (UME). Old proxy-to-remote roles are still functional in SAP NW7.0 SPS10 and later. You only need to run the migration tool if you want to make new remote role assignments using older producer objects.
For instructions on using the tool, see SAP Note 980480.</b>
Have you done this? Not really sure you do unless you are making new assignments...

  • Federated portal's, cann't see the roles and portal content from producer

We are configuring a Federated Portal, with a Producer EP7.0 SP13 and a Consumer EP7.0 SP13. The connection test is successful.
I can see the producer on the consumer and the consumer on the producer.
The problem is that I can not see the portal content of the producer in the portal content of the consumer.  The producer roles are also not available on the consumer.  I have selected the producer as the data source in the consumer UME,
then enter * in the role name field, then select "go", but nothing comes up.
    Can anybody help me?

    Hi J De Voijs
    • Following might be the reason:
    1. User should exist in both user store of Consumer and Producer portal otherwise it won’t work.
    2. Incase if the registration is successful then there might be some problem with your servers (Consumer & Producer) clock timings.
    3. ‘Remote Role Assignment’ may get fail perhaps because user to whom remote role assignment is done doesn’t have “End User” role assigned to him/her at Producer Portal. End-user permission enables business users to run content at runtime. Just as end users require end-user permission to run local content on your portal, they also need end-user permission for local content originating from a remote producer.
    4. You should have Owner permission in the objects to which you want to assign permissions otherwise ‘Remote Role Assignment’ wont work.
    5. In the portal content studio, open the producer under 'NetWeaver content producers'. If it does not contain folders in it, the registration is considered to be unsuccessful even though it stated it was successful while registration.
    6. During the process of Registering (Adding) Producer Portal, while entering the connection parameters of the NetWeaver producer portal use appropriate Host name against “Host Name” input field instead of IP address. Perhaps this might create some problem during execution in later stage.
e.g. Host Name: use “sapProducerportal02” instead of 172.19.144.155
    7. Also go through the following URLs (w.r.t Permissions):

  • Portal Access through Internet

    Dear All,
We have a requirement like the following:
We are developing a portal application. We need to access that through Intranet as well as through Internet.
The problem is that, for Internet (logged in as anonymous user), the look and feel and navigation of the pages are very different from that of Intranet, but the content is the same for both Intranet and Internet. Basically, the JSP templates are different for Internet and Intranet.
Do we need to deploy different applications  to make this happen? Can we customize the navigation menu and look and feel diffently for Internet and Intranet from the same application?
Please suggest any ideas if you have.
    Kind regards,
    Sreejesh.

    Hi Sreejesh,
if you have different JSP templates, it's up to you to create different applications (for different users? roles?! how to differentiate?) or to make the usage of the JSPs of the application itself flexible (so that the application decides at runtime which template will be used).
    > Can we customize the navigation menu
In general you can customize the look and feel of the portal: System Administration -- Portal Display -- Theme Editor.
If you want to modify more than colors etc, you should consider using the LightFrameworkPage together with a sef-developed DetNav using the Navigation TagLib, see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/42/ea3a29b28e1bcae10000000a11466f/frameset.htm
    Hope it helps

  • Federated  Portal - ESS/MSS remote content copy / remote delta link mode

    Hello,
We have established an Federated Portal Network between two Enterprise Portal systems.
The Consumer System is an Netweaver Enterprise Portal, the Producer also an Enterprise Portal installation + XSS.
We use remote role assignment and remote delta link functionality between this two systems.
We have an request to enable BI JAVA Iviews on the consumer and as transitive content sharing is not provided, we would like to copy the ESS/MSS roles as remote content copy/remote delta links from the producer XSS system to the consumer system.
When we try to copy the ESS or MSS roles the copy process end with the following error message :
"Due to an unexpected error the action will be canceled"
The remote content copy/remote delta link usage mode is working correct on other roles
Is this a restiction that ESS/MSS roles can not be used in remote delta link mode ?
Is there an workaround for such usage type ?
    Thank you

    Hi,
I may be mistaken, but is the copy process not WSRP based, so that the P4 communication only is used when the user really accesses the RDL-copied iView?
If you 100% sure that your P4 communication between Consumer and Producer is working, you can try to unregister and re-register the FPN connection.
Or open an OSS to SAP.

  • Federation Portal Network Impl.  -  Producer content is invisible

    Hi,
I trying to implement FPN remote role assignment scenario.
I got 2 EP7.0 portals one on SP10 and the other one on SP11.
I have created a user in CP (consumer portal) in portal UME.
And via Import in Identity Management in PP (producer portal) in portal UME.
And reset the password in PP. And carried out certificate exchange.
And able to register in CP successfully.
But, when I check for the content in CP 'Content Admin' -> Producer, I could not see it. But, producer as self, i was able to see in both portals.
    Pls. advice.
    Regards,
    Sreekanth.

    Hi Sreekanth,
Have you completed the trust configuration steps beyond the ticket exchange, using the visual admin?
When you have, please clear the cache under System administration->Federated Portal->Cache management or Configure my consumer profile.
Clear the remote role assignment cache.
Go back to the content catalog.
    Open the NetWeaver content producers.
Right click your producer and choose 'refresh'.

  • Error while accessing a BI iView from the federated portal to the BI portal

    Hi,
We got an issue when we execute BI report from our federated SAP Portal.
The user can navigate into the portal, but when he executes an BI iView, sometime he gets the following error message:
    "500 Internal Server Error
    blabla...
    Root Cause
The initial exception that caused the request to fail was:
BEx Web application "xxxxx" does not exist. The application was either ended by a timeout or an error occurred, which was entered into the trace log. See SAP Notes 937697 and 948490"
He can then refresh the page and execute the report again, and it will works.
    Here is our lanscape :
    Federated Portal EP6 SP18
    BI Portal SP20
Iview are created on the Federated Portal and consume BI web template.
I don't think about a timeout issue, since sometime we got the selection screen and once we click on a button (after some seconds) we got the error.
    Any ideas ?
    rgds,
    Sebastien

    Hello,
Please could you remove the proxy setting and check whether it will give you same error or not.
Even we have faced the similar similar issue and once we have removed the proxy setting and cross checked it , it worked fine and later we came to know that the problem is in network proxy setting application.Check with the net working team for the same.
    Thanks

  • Enable to select a check box in ALV while accessing it through portal

    Hi All,
Currently I have given a link on portal to run a transaction code. The output of the program is ALV report, where user any select the check boxes.
Now when I try to select a check box, it is not getting selected. I click on the checkbox, the tick appear and then the screen refreshes itself and the tick goes off. This is happening only when accessing it through portal. If i run the program in R/3 directly, I am able to select the check box.
    Please advice on this.
    Thanks

Reported to SAP for the same.

  • Portal access through a firewall

    Hi there!
Having the default installtion of R2 on a single W2K box, what's the minimal procedure to make this configuration available through a firewall?
I've opened ports 7777-7778 but fail when trying to logon via SSO (host.domain.com:7777/pls/orasso)
Have I missed out to open another port or am I forced to follow the steps of setting up a reversing proxy to have portal-access outside the firewall?
    Cheers
    /Staffan

If they are on different servers, then both are listening on the 7777 port, and you will have to change one of them to use another port (assuming your firewall can only port forward a port to only one host).
If you are running both instances on the same server, then your SSO is accessible via 7777 and your midtier would be on 7778, so your setup as described should be enough (I do the same thing).
If they are running on the one machine, can you access the SSO/INF server directly? http://inf.domain.com:7777 and then http://inf.domain.com:7777/pls/orasso ?

Thanks so much! I am backing up the entire computer now with an external hard drive - this should be fine right? And surely if I am backing up the whole computer these projects/videos will be backed up too? I wasn't sure how to do this any other way and I am clearly not great with tech issues. Once this is done and I am sure my projects/videos are safe I will do the delete and reinstall bit. Thanks for taking the time to help
