Ffmpeg installation on Solaris 10 AMD opteron processor
Hi All,
I would like to know whether ffmpeg can be installed on Solaris 10 AMD opteron processor.
-BR
I've had the same problem when trying to install it, in my case the disklabel was created with parted and caused the problems. I've relabeld the disk by booting into single user mode from cdrom and executing these commands:
# dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s0 bs=1024 count=20
# format
(select the disk ('0') and 'label' it)
(verify the label and quit)
# reboot
(installation questions)

Hardware Compatibility List for installation of solaris 10 on DELL units
Hi,
I have a requirement to install solaris 10 on a few Dell servers and desktops.
I was unable to install on Dell PowerEdge SC1435 and noticed it is not on the HCL for Dell servers. This unit has dual core AMD Opteron processors. Is the HCL kept up to date, I noticed items 58 and 59 had the same description (SC1430). Should I abondon further attempts and go to the SC2950 which is on the HCL?
Also on the desktop side, both my choices, Dell OptiPlex 745 dual core, and Dell Precision 690 dual core are not on the HCL. A possible alternative on the HCL is the Precision 670.
Any info would be apprecitate.I am also having the same issue on a Dell Poweredge SC1435. I get a "ERROR: The disc you inserted is not a Solaris OS/DVD" right after I select the machine to automatically reboot after it finishes installing. It then kicks me out to a Unix shell prompt and I notice that the CD is no longer mounted when I do a "df -k". I've done some research on the web and none of the proposed solutions worked. I'm assuming this has something to do with hardware conflicts with the machine and the fact that the machine is not on the Hardware Compat List yet.
Plus, I know my cd media is good, since I was able to install Solaris 10 x86 perfectly fine on my Dell Poweredge SC420. I'm using the latest Solaris 10 11/06 CD media. -
How to install webgate on tomcat with solaris 10 AMD 64bits?
Hi Experts
I need to install a webgate on the webserver tomcat, but i found that installation is not possible because thes is not webgate for tomcat, many people recommended install a reverse proxy with Apache or OHS but i can't find a webgate installer on Solaris 10 AMD 64bits.
Exists that version of webgate? or exist a workaround??
what is your suggestion??Choose the Webserver and the WebGate from the OAM support matix.
If OAM does not have WebGate for the platform where you have tomcat installed, if it is an option, you can install a webserver and WebGate on any OAM supported OS and configure Reverse Proxy. WebGate does not need to be on the same server/machine or on same platform. -
Does OBIEE 10.1.3.4 support 64 bit processor AMD Opteron 8216
Hi All,
The OBIEE was installed on 64 bit processor AMD Opteron 8216, but the OBIEE installables were for 32 bit processor.
Is it that OBIEE doesnt work properly with 64 Bit processors or is this any other issue.
Help will be appreciated
Edited by: user11001347 on Dec 18, 2009 2:42 AMReuse the software installation, choose a custom installation and choose the component Oracle Business Intelligence ODBC of JDBC Driver

Processor and Core Count on AMD Opteron Servers
hi
I have a couple of HP DL385 G7 servers, which are dual processor 8 core servers, running Windows 2008 R2. These servers are reporting 16 CPUs each with 8 cores.
The processors are AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 6136. Anyone know how to get this to report correctly ? I need to organise a licensing per core true up for some software applications.
Thanksgarethb,

Solaris 10 AMD Athlon Opteron BIOS microcode patch
I've recently installed Solaris 10 on AMD Opteron machine, AMD64
On boot, I receive a message "BIOS microcode patch not found...erratum 109" or something to that effect.
this is followed by a bunch of "not enough space" comments.
I've tried to find such a patch without success. Clearly, this points out my lack of knowledge. Perhaps someone can provide advice? AMD said "call Sun"I went back and did a reinstall of OS. I then downloaded and installed all the patches associated with the machine W1100Z. This has made this operational but issues remain. I decided to download the latest supplement.iso (2.5) and install the newer BIOS. The supplement.iso size is 427.89 MB. Unfortunately, at 427.11 MB I receive an error "not enough memory in the folder". I get the same result regardless of the target directory. I do suspect the installing the new boot image will work but the problem of how to get in on the machine remains.
I apologize for the delayed response but I only have so much time. I have considered the purchase of a new machine would be a good choice, with OS already installed, but this one is autographed by James Goslin. An operating machine certainly would be a great SUN advertisement in my office. Plus, the tanking markets have significantly reduced my upgrade capability.
You are probably correct though. Finding the disks may be a problem especially cdrom.
cd c:\cdrom
ls -l
doesn't list anything -
Installation on Solaris 10 x64
Anybody succesfully installed SGD Enterprise 4.1 on Solaris 10 running on
an AMD Opteron system? I keep getting:
pwd: cannot determine current directory!
/tmp/install"some garbage": no home directory
If tried the pkgadd workaround, but this doesn't workThanks Mike. Problem solved.
Now I run into another error which I think I had in a past installation I have done on a suse machine:
SAPCAR is unable to extract SAP kernel executables from the installationmaster directory even though permissions are right:
MUT-03011 Execution of the command "/tmp/sapinst_exe.25861.1160659612/SAPCAR -x -v -g -i -f /UCKernel/DBINDEP/SAPEXE.SAR, instance.lst" finished with return code 29. Output:
SAPCAR: no archives specified for extracting (error 29). No such file or directory
I have tried calling SAPCAR from the command line and the SAPEXE.SAR is upacked fine.
Tried to shorten the absolute path and the error is the same.

You'll need to create a partition on which to install Solaris, - search for Solaris Windows Dual Boot on docs.sun.com for more information. -
64 bit vs 32 bit Labview on an AMD Opteron 6380
When running my code on an AMD Opteron 6380 processor, Labview 2014 64bit runs 4 times slower than when running with Labview 2014 32bit. However the same code running on and INTEL Core i7 ran twice as fast with Labview 64bit vs 32bit. Does anyone know why? Note that the code is math intensive running a parallel loop that does not cummunicate with the outside world, i.e. no file access, property nodes, etc.Thank you.
Yes the 6380 FPU is shared between two cores. I just ran a diagnostic I made up that generates an array of 1 million random numbers, takes the average of those, and then excutes that repeatedly in a parallel loop. The 6380 showed a 20% to 30% improvement in speed between LV64 & LV32 bit depending on how many cores I told it to use. So that seems to make more sense. The other code that I was running that ran 4 times slower has a complicated clusters within a cluster structure including a large look up table array that is being passed around amoung several vi's. If it is moving that large amount of data around in memory, instead of just the pointer, that might explain it. But why then would the AMD run slower with 64 bit (by a factor of 4) when compared with the Core i7 which ran twice as fast, which kind of makes sense to me if it is moving that data around with twice the bandwidth?

FMS performance on AMD Opteron vs Intel Xeon
Hi All.
We are facing some perfomance issues in several FMS4 running on AMD Opteron. This servers uses a lot more CPU than the ones that we own that run on a similar Intel Xeon with the same load.
Does FMS run better on Intel Xeon? Is there any studies about it?
RegardsI am not processor expert , but what we recommend to our customers is Intel Xeon or faster processor. Most of our testing is done on Intel Xeon. I am not sure whether we have done any comparative study between processors.

Compatibility premiere pro cc 2014 amd opteron 180
Hello. I would like to purchase adobe premiere pro cc 2014 so i downloaded the trial version. I installed it and it seem to work great with my computer. But before i buy it, i would like to know if someone can confirm that it's compatible with my cpu. For now i don't have any problems in the trial version. My processor is an amd opteron 180 dual core socket 939 overclocked at 2.6ghz under windows 7 sp1 64bit. All other parts of my computer reaches the system requirements besides the cpu is not an amd phenom ii as recommended. So assuming the trial version of premiere pro cc 2014 startups and runs without any problems, can i buy it and install it? Thanks!

Hi
I have a MSI K8N Diamond PLUS (bios v.1.2), from the website the AMD Opteron 180 2.4 GHz socket 939 is compatible with the board.
No compatibility info about the cpu AMD Opteron 185 2.6 GHz socket 939. These 2 cpu are very very similar (only different clock).
Do you know if it's really compatible with MSI K8N Diamond PLUS
Thanks in advanceIt will work fine but isn't officially supported. Therefor post screen could show "unknown processor" but that's all.
