shining wrote:Out of curiosity, why do you need fglrx ?
Because I'm unable to get 3D/dri working with the xf86-video-ati driver and would like to play UrbanTerror on that old machine .
Hm, 3d/dri should work perfectly with r200 chipset. It even works nearly correctly on r300 chipsets now.
But good luck playing UrbanTerror with that, I tried this game recently again (on a gf 5900xt), and it was not exactly smooth, I had fps drops to 10-20 fps.

Thanks for posting this wizzard. After an upgrade of xorg I have been struggling to make a conf file that worked. Adding to a minimal file is easier than pruning a full one. I used your minimal xorg.conf and added:
    Option "PreferredMode" "1280x1024"
in the monitor section and now all is well. (I think my monitor is non-standards-compliant. It causes problems so the option is needed)

  • Fglrx and mesa

Alright, i just uninstalled mesa, and reinstalled fglrx.
However, when i do a fglrxinfo, i get:
    $ fglrxinfo
    display: :0.0  screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: Mesa project: www.mesa3d.org
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect
    OpenGL version string: 1.2 (1.5 Mesa 6.5.1)
does anyone know how to fix this?

You shouldn't be uninstalling mesa.  You need mesa, ati-fglrx, and ati-fglrx-utils to get DRI working with fglrx.
After you have those installed and your xorg.conf configured, if it's still not working, could you post any error (EE) or warning (WW) messages in /var/log/Xorg.0.log?

    Dear sir
I bought my iPhone 4 from Apple store in Charlotte N/C about 2years ago without contract.
Now I tried to upgrade it to iOS 7.0.4.but after that my phone not work with last sim card.
And invalid sim appeared.so I bought it without contract but it seems to be lock in my country
Please tell me whats the matter?
    My phone serial no  86034HTCA4T
    Modem firmware  04.12.09
    Thanks

Without contract is not the same as unlocked. The update to iOS 7 relocked
the iPhone to the wireless carrier to which it was originally locked. You must
contact that wireless carrier to see if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
If you used jailbreak or other hack to unlock the iPhone initially, the method
used may prevent a legitimate unlock from succeeding and may render your
    iPhone unuseable.

  • What now? I got repair failed  "Keys out of order" and "Invalid extent entry"

What now? I tried to verify & then repair disk and I got "repair failed"  "Keys out of order" and "Invalid extent entry"

You've booted from your OS installer disk, ran Repair Disk from Disk Utility? If so then you need a stronger disk repair utility like DiskWarrier to rebuild the directory.
    BTW, update your profile information.

  • What are valid and invalid email address characters

What are valid and invalid email address characters in Exchange 2010, for example can you have Conan.O'[email protected] is there a document that shows the valid and invalid sysmbols?

    Hi
The format of email addresses is
local-part@domain where the local-part may be up to 64 characters long and the
    domain name may have a
maximum of 253 characters - but the maximum 256 characters length of a forward or reverse path restricts the entire email address to be no more than 254 characters.[1]
The formal definitions are in RFC 5322 (sections 3.2.3
and 3.4.1) and RFC 5321 - with a more readable form given in
    the informational RFC 3696[2]
    and the associated errata.
    Local part
The local-part of the email address may use any of these
    ASCII characters
    RFC 5322 Section
    3.2.3:
Uppercase and lowercase English letters (a–z, A–Z) (ASCII: 65-90, 97-122)
    Digits
    0 to
    9 (ASCII: 48-57)
    Characters
    !#$%&'*+-/=?^_`{|}~ (ASCII: 33, 35-39, 42, 43, 45, 47, 61, 63, 94-96, 123-126)
    Character
. (dot, period, full stop) (ASCII: 46) provided that it is not the first or last character, and
provided also that it does not appear two or more times consecutively (e.g. [email protected] is not allowed.).
Special characters are allowed with restrictions. They are:
    o
    Space and
    "(),:;<>@[\] (ASCII: 32, 34, 40, 41, 44, 58, 59, 60, 62, 64, 91-93)
The restrictions for special characters are that they must only be used when contained between quotation marks, and that 3 of them (The
    space, backslash \ and
quotation mark " (ASCII: 32, 92, 34)) must also be preceded by a backslash
    \ (e.g.
A quoted string may exist as a dot separated entity within the local-part, or it may exist when the outermost quotes are the outermost characters of the local-part
    (e.g. abc."defghi"[email protected] or
    "abcdefghixyz"@example.com are allowed. Conversely,
abc"defghi"[email protected] is not; neither is
abc\"def\"[email protected]). Quoted strings and characters however, are not commonly used.
    RFC 5321 also
warns that "a host that expects to receive mail SHOULD avoid defining mailboxes where the Local-part requires (or uses) the Quoted-string form".
The local-part "postmaster" is treated specially - it is case-insensitive, and should be forwarded to the server's administrator. Technically all other local-parts
are case sensitive, therefore [email protected] and [email protected] specify different mailboxes. However most organizations treat uppercase and lowercase letters as equivalent, and also do not allow use of the technically valid characters
(space, ? and ^). Organizations are free to restrict the forms of their own email addresses as desired, e.g.,
    Windows Live Hotmail,
for example, only allows creation of email addresses using alphanumerics, dot (.), underscore (_)
    and hyphen (-).[3]
Systems that send mail must be capable of handling outgoing mail for all valid addresses. Contrary to the relevant standards, some defective systems treat certain
legitimate addresses as invalid and fail to handle mail to these addresses. Hotmail, for example, refuses to send mail to any address containing any of the following standards-permissible characters:
    !#$%*/?^`{|}~
    Domain part
The domain name part of an email address has to conform to strict guidelines: it must match the requirements for a
    hostname,
consisting of letters, digits, hyphens and dots. In addition, the domain part may be an
    IP address
literal, surrounded by square braces, such as jsmith@[192.168.2.1], although this is rarely seen except
    in email spam.
    Examples
    Valid email addresses
    <tt>[email protected]</tt>
    <tt>[email protected]</tt>
    <tt>[email protected]</tt>
    <tt>much."more\ unusual"@example.com</tt>
    <tt>very.unusual."@"[email protected]</tt>
    <tt>very."(),:;<>[]".VERY."very@\\\ \"very"[email protected]</tt>
    Invalid email addresses
<tt>Abc.example.com</tt> (an @ character must separate the local and domain parts)
<tt>[email protected]</tt> (character dot(.) is last in local part)
<tt>[email protected]</tt> (character dot(.) is double)
<tt>A@b@[email protected]</tt> (only one @ is allowed outside quotation marks)
<tt>a"b(c)d,e:f;g<h>i[j\k][email protected]</tt> (none of the special characters in this local part
    is allowed outside quotation marks)
<tt>just"not"[email protected]</tt> (quoted strings must be dot separated, or the only element making
    up the local-part)
<tt>this is"not\[email protected]</tt> (spaces, quotes, and backslashes may only exist when within
quoted strings and preceded by a slash)
<tt>this\ still\"not\\[email protected]</tt> (even if escaped (preceded by a backslash), spaces, quotes,
and backslashes must still be contained by quotes)

  • (SOLVED) Keyboard lights go on and off and then Xorg crashes

Strangest thing happened when I turned on my computer this morning:
As I was doing my usual business (only Firefox running on top of Gnome), keyboard LEDs started going on and off (e.g. scroll lock and caps lock turn on, num lock off, then I press num lock, and they go off, and then one of them reappears again, etc - no pattern), and then Xorg just crashed.
I'm running the latest kernel with latest nvidia drivers.
This is what Xorg's log shows:
    Backtrace:
    0: /usr/bin/Xorg (xorg_backtrace+0x28) [0x45a8d8]

    Fatal server error:
Caught signal 3 (Quit). Server aborting
The entire xorg log is here: http://pastebin.ca/1823592
After the fact, everything seemed to be working fine again. Xorg restarted and keyboard was behaving.
Any ideas what this could be? It never happened before...

I'm not really sure, but it seems that vmware workstation + evdev was the culprit.
I uninstalled Vmware Workstation and everything seems to be back to normal. I couldn't bother to check which modules were loaded and how was this confusing to Xorg, but it's "solved" now.

  • Error "Unkown Bravo Error" and "Invalid Container Error"

I am trying to render in After effects and keep getting the error "Unkown Bravo Error" and "Invalid Container Error". What do I do to resolve this?

Try using the "secret" preferences to purge every couple of frames. If you hold Shift while clicking on After Effects > Preferences > General, the Secret menu should pop up in the sidebar of the Preferences dialog.
Alternatively, if rendering to a QuickTime with the video codec set to PNG instead of Animation didn't work, try rendering to a PNG sequence and not a video format at all.

  • Please help! Invalid node structure and invalid record count

My MacBook Pro is about 6.5 years old. I upgraded to Snow Leopard 2 years ago and added RAM at the same time. My first problem ever occurred three days ago when my computer got super sluggish, I restarted and got the gray screen with apple and spinning wheel...no boot up. I ran disk utility from the snow leopard install disk and found "invalid node structure" and "invalid record count". After reading on here what to do...try to repair the disk and so on with no success I went out and bought Disk Warrior. Got home expecting to fix everything and Disc Warrior won't boot...I just get a file with a question mark and the disc is ejected. I tried erasing the hard drive but was only able to use the "don't erase data" option. Then I tried to reinstall Snow Leopard with no luck. Now I am stuck. Any ideas?
One thing to note is I am to the point of not caring about the files on the hard drive, I was a dummy and never backed them up...lesson learned!  I just want my computer back without having to spend $1000+ for a new one. Then again I am always willing to do that too as a last resort.
    PLEASE HELP!

When you contact Alsoft, make sure you let them know that you are using Snow Leopard (10.6.8).
Try the following in the meantime -
Disconnect all peripherals from your computer.
Boot from your install disc & run Repair Disk from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
    Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
    Select Disk Utility.
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
    Click Repair Disk.
    Restart your computer when done.
Repair permissions after you reach the desktop-http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2963 and restart your computer.
Try DiskWarrarior again if it's combatible with the os system.
YOu cannot reformat until you get your issue corrected.

I've bought an Iphone 4S in the UK. Using the phone in Argentina, it displays the "No Service" and "Invalid SIM" errors sporadically. The only solution is to reset the phone (switching it ON/OFF). Also most of the time, the SMS are not sent nor received...
The phone was checked by my carrier (phone company, Movistar) and they replaced the micro SIM card. bear in mind that there's no Apple shop here and the Iphone 4S is NOT available in Argentina!!!
    Any suggestions?

    Dear all,
(THIS CONCERNS MTC TOUCH CUSTOMERS IN LEBANON)
I've received an email with a solution to the problem; you have to update to the new iOS 5.0.1 firmware (9A406)!! It's been 1Hour and so far my iPHone 4S is working just fine. Please follow carefully the below instructions:
RUN A FULL BACK UP BEFORE DOING ANY OF THIS
    1. Download the new iOS 5.0.1 firmware (9A406) from the internet. (800MB)
    2. Connect your iPhone 4S to iTunes.
    3. Once connected, two options will show: ‘restore’ and ‘check for update’.
    4. Press down SHIFT and choose ‘check for update’. (if you click ‘check for update’ without pressing down SHIFT doesn’t work.)
    5. Select the new firmware (9A406). Note that the file should be renamed ‘iPhone4,1_5.0.1_9A406_Restore.ipsw’  (instead of ‘iPhone4,1_5.0.1_9A406_Restore.zip’), i.e. changing the file extension from ZIP to IPSW. iTunes will now work alone and update your iPhone 4S.
A full back up is recommended before firmware upgrade.
    HOPE THIS HELPS

I was quite surprised by that. And I've been off for a little because I've been giving final exams at the college where I work. Now with break I will be spending a little more time on here until I have to start getting ready for the Spring semester. I have experienced a couple of interesting posters in the past week though. I wa afraid one was going to reach through the CAT 5 and grab me around the neck.

  • The gift card I am trying to use comes up as having and invalid code.

The gift card I am trying to use comes up as having and invalid code. Got it as a gift for Christmas and trying to make an iTunes purchse.

With any luck, the following document may be of some assistance with that:

  • Multicast dropped and invalid packets

    Hi,
I've read all I can on the cisco.com site and not found a good explanation of dropped and invalid IGMP packets.
This output is displayed from a cat os 'show igmp statistics', dropped packets and also invalid packets.
What are these and what can cause them??
    Thanks

    Hello David,
do you happen to see entries in your logs such as:
%MCAST-6-IGMP_PKT_DROPPED: IGMP: IGMP Queue full (high packet rate/CPU busy), dropped [dec] packet(s) in last 5 minutes
According to CCO, ´this message indicates that the IGMP packet queue is not able to accommodate additional packets. Any additional packets will be dropped without processing.
Recommended Action: Reduce the IGMP packet rate to prevent packets from being dropped´
You might want to try and enable IGMP Snooping (set igmp enable) on your switch, in order to reduce the number of IGMP packets sent...

    GP

  • I keep getting and invalid username message

Why am I getting and invalid username message when I try to sign in to an app I just purchased.

    Hi Chris
First, You should know that the developer certified version for Oracle Apps development is 6i patch 18 (there's a new patch 19 also). On Discoverer, it's Ok to use 10G.
Now, on the connection issue, by the message it is related to the user/pass entered. If in Discoverer You are using oracle apps integration You may be using and application user and password, but that can be used to connect to the database.
Ask in Your project for apps password (may be apps or welcome12 if and on demand environment) for the development environment, or check if there's is a custom schema defined for development and get the user/pass for that one also. You may try with applsyspub/pub meanwhile to check connection but it's a restricted user.
