FI-AA: no depreciation in depr. 15 (income tax) in fiscal year when retired

Hello all!
I have a question concerning settings for a FI-AA depreciation key concerning depr. area 15 (income tax; Slovakia):
Calculation of depreciation in depr. area 15 (income tax) must be ZERO in case of retirement during fiscal year (no pro rata until retirement date).
Thanks for an answer.
Bernd

Hi Bernd,
Use a depreciation key with period control 06 At the start of the year for retirements
When you have made depreciations run in old months in the year it will turned back with the retirement posting

Depreciation in 2012 for assets are as expected with 11 periods. Half month's depreciation posted in the month of acquisition, and the following months are calculated accurately up to period 11.
In FY 2013, June and July are in Period 1.
For FI Posting, this is true and correct.
For Depreciation Posting, only one year's depreciation is calculated but we need 1 year + 1 period (because the previous year was shortened by one period).
Is there a setting to increase the depreciation or extend the depreciation for 1 period in 2013 that was reducde in 2012?
The shortened Fiscal Year changes are not in productiveness. The assets created are new assets such as in a normal operation when shortened Fiscal Year has been in place. As such, new assets have no expired useful life yet and it is newly capitalized.
No user exits or custom development is in place.
I have checked all the following notes, either they made no changes or were not relevant:

The depreciation calculation is lacking/missing one period of depreciation eventhough depreciation is not reduced.
Please suggest any possible solution to this issue that we are facing. Thanks!

Please check SPRO transaction AFAMA for the Depreciation Keys:
    Setting:
    Depr to the day
    No reduct in short year
Period control according to fiscal years
Check which is appropriate starting with the above order as I think this will fit your logic. But this depends on whether postings have already been made in the periods you want adjusted. If so then you need to use AFAR and choose repeat run after you have changed your config settings for the periods already posted. Additionally you may have problems if you have rolled forward your Fiscal Year in Assets and you will/may need to roll it back if possible before running AFAR etc.
SAP normally calculates depreciation for straight line by taking the number of periods in a year and dividing total depreciation for that year by the periods and posting that figure for the month. If you set Depr to day then it will take into account different months day length etc.
No reduc in short year would also solve your problem but would reflect the full year depreciation in the shortened year (12 periods not 11).
Hope this helps if its not to late.

  • Depreciation Posting to Parallel Ledger of different fiscal year

    Hi,
We have one Parallel Leder with fiscal year variant K4 and our Leading Leger is with V3. While carrying out AFAB for period 2 fiscal year 2010 (May 2009)(depreciation run), system gives error saying that 'Posting period 005/2009 is not open'.  Period 005/2009 is on the basis of K4, which cannot be opened as data migration is over.
Request for  cause of the error message.
    Regards,
    Rama

    Hi,
Fiscal year Variants are different in the Leading and Non leading Ledger.  One V3 and the other K4.
The error message comes only at the time of depreciation run.  In other postings, there are no errors.

  • Income Tax Calculations

    Hi Folks
My Project is going Live on July 2006. Regarding Income tax i would like to upload all the Master data and Salary data effective 1-Apr-06 and would like to run the payroll manually for three months(April, May and June)by changing the Control Record.
I do not want to go for mid year Go-Live.
If i run Payroll Manually for three months manually the Income Tax is getting calculated from April itself where in Actual go live is only from July and i would like to deduct the system for Income Tax from July only.
How to make the system to calculate Income Tax only from July when i run Payroll manually from April.
Appreciate any help or Any other idea to make the system to work fine.
    Regards
    Ragavan

    Hi,
Sorry for the delayed response. I just got into the group and saw your message. Hope your Go-Live was smooth and successful. One way to address the issue is to have an adjustment figure (either as a payment or deduction) and balance the income tax deducted so far and give the provision for calculations from July onwards.
Would appreciate if you can share how you went about it.
    Thanks

  • There are no depreciation areas to post to in fiscal year 2008

    Hi,
Iam facing a problem during Depreciation run in t-code AFAB.
here are no depreciation areas to post
There are no depreciation areas to post to in fiscal year 2008
        Message no. AA695
    Diagnosis
You have requested a depreciation posting run for fiscal year 2008.
The program has determined that depreciation areas are still open for
this fiscal year, but according to their configuration, these areas do
        not post depreciation.
    Procedure
        Please check your entries.

    Hi
Check the settings in OADB for the depreciation areas

  • Without run depreciation they have closed fiscal years

    Hi all
In my development system without Depreciation Run they have closed fical years.
They did not run depreciation from 2003 and 02 period.
    present fiscal year is 2007.
How can go back and how can i run depreciation from 2003. Please tell me clearly.
    It is very urgent.
    Thanks in advance.
    Krishna

    Hi,
    as far i know,
you cannot close fiscal year without running depreciation until period 12.
you said that your present fiscal year is 2007? is it FI Fiscal Year or Asset Fiscal Year?
If 2007 is FI fiscal year and your Asset fiscal year is 2003 then you want to run the depreciation for 2003, You must open FI fiscal year for 2003 until 2007.  Use t-code : OB52 to open FI fiscal year.
You can check the last closed fiscal year for ASSET in t-code : OAAQ.
    Hope it can help.

  • Asset depreciation calculation for prevous year  when legacy data transfere

    Hello,
Asset Legacy Data transfer has made as on 31.12.2006. so, for the first period asset depreciation calculation has done wrongly  i.e. on the first period of 2007. but it was not noticed at that point of time, now after 2 years, the cumulative difference is coming out very big.
for 1st period, in Asset Value Tab of AS03,  for period 01 , 2007 when i am checking right now it shows for dep. Area 01 right now that Amt to be post (14.48) instead of that in the next line for Dep. area 20 and in the next line it shows, Amt. to be posted ( -0.28). hence, for next period only differnce amount is posted in G/L side instead of actual it should be posted as 14.76.
so, now because of this error, my G/L and AA sides are not matching up.
eventhough i post manual reversal entry via FB01, when i will run ABST2 there will be problem.
if i run manual unplanned depreciation, then will my problem of not matching of Asset side and GL side will be solved. ?
also, please provide suggestion from your end in order to solve this issue.
    Thanking you for your help.
    Jigs.

We cannot post any depreciation to previous fiscal year 2008 as no planned depreciation is envisaged for the previous year 2008. The transfer date for Legacy asset data transfer is maintained as 12/31/2008 and takeover values are uploaded accordingly. Hence, 2009 is a first year for Asset Accounting of the company code.
However, Depreciation posting program checks for previous period log while executing for the current period. The logs are stored in u201CTABAu201D table. For new company code there will not be any entries in TABA table.
Due to missing functionality, System is checking for previous year depreciation posting logs even though the current fiscal year is first year for planned depreciation and giving error message AA 687.
As per SAP Note 144441 this error can be rectified with the help of correction program ZACORR_TABA_ENTRY_CREATE.
    Steps to Rectify the Error:
    1. Copy correction program from SAP Note 144441 into SAP System.
    2. Execute the program with transaction code SA38
    3. Check the values in test mode
    4. If the table is updated with documennt number , remove the test mode tick and execute again
    5. Execute the deprecation

  • Indian Income Tax Depreciation Calculation

    Hi
Can any of you please explain/tell me where are the exact SAP configuration settings for the calculation of depreciation calculation as per Indian Income Tax Act by meeting below requirements as per Section 32 of Indian Income Tax Act:
    1. If the Asset is being purchased and used in a Financial Year for 180 Days or below 180 Days  -  Depreciation has to be calculated 50% of Annual Depreciation.
2.If the Asset is being purchased and used in a Financial Year for more than  180 Days   -  Depreciation has to be calculated 100% of Annual Depreciation.
    Waiting for your valuable reply.
    Thanks and Regards
    P.V.S.R.Gupta

But if I follow your suggestion of taking Period Control Method 04, it would calculate 1/2 Year Depreciaton only
No.  If the asset is in use for >180 days, then it's acquisition date must therefore occur in periods 1-6 which will set the depreciation start date to the beginning of the year.  This will result in a full year's worth of depreciation.
If the asset is in use for <180 days then the start date is set to mid year which results in only 6 months worth of depreciation to be posted.
All of this can be adjusted per your FYV and on a yearly basis if the FYV is year dependent in the asset period control calendar assignments table.
I'll be the first to admit that I don't know the statutory requirements of India but I know how FI-AA works and can't think of an alternative solution for you.

  • Income Tax Depreciation-India

    Hi,
You all might be aware To Evaluate the Income Tax Depreciation in Asset Accounting we have got 2 options:-
    1.   By Adopting Addittional Depreciation Area (Depreciation Area 15 (Depreciation as per Income Tax
          Act 1961)
But the problem that I am facing is we have to give 2 Dep Key one for Book Dep & the other for Income Tax Depreciation and I have defaulted the dep keys in Asset Classes but when I am creating the Asset Master the dep key that is inputted for Book Depreciation is automatically copied to I.T Dep Area which is incorrect.
I have activated the Dep keys.
    2.   Secondly we can use Group Assets to derive I.T Depreciation I have done the necessary settings in OAYM but when Iam creating a Asset Master the Group Asset field is disabled I have checked the settings in AO21 and made Group Asset field optional but still that particular field is greyed out.
We are using ECC 6.0 Version and I have copied COD- 1IN
I just wanted to know whether SAP has withdrawn support for I.T-Depreciation-India if yes can anybody give me a reference note or country version release so that i can intimate the same to the client.
    Regards
    Sunil

    Dear Ramesh,
Thnx a lot it has worked and my problem has been solved.

    Hi
For Indian Income Tax Depreciation, you would have to create a new depreciation area. If you are on EhP 5, please have a look at the below business function:
    FIN_LOC_CI_8
This business function would need to be activate in SFW5.
The below notes are also useful:
