File adapter picking up file before them is completely written

HI all
My problem is that, a sender communication channel (FTP) pick up the file before them is completely written on to the FTP folder.
the parameter "Msecs to Wait Before Modification Check" is in 6000, but the CC pick them up.
Please help!
Thanks.

Hey
>>Msecs to Wait Before Modification Check
The above parameter is only applicable when picking file from NFS,it has no effect on FTP.
To solve your problem, please look at question 3 of SAP Note 821267

  • SyncRead moving files before it is completely available

    Hi,
Have a scenario where the BPEL File Adapter with Sync Read operation will move a file from source directory to target directory. For small files testing seems to be OK. In case of large files the moving operation is started by Sync Read before the file is completely available in the Source directory. As a result incomplete files are being moved into target directory and BPEL process is getting completed. Any suggestion on this...???

    Hi,
Scenario is as follows ( explained with example):
    1. BPEL moves a file from "A" directory to "B" directory.
    2. There is some processing of the file that has been moved into the "B" directory which is out of scope for the BPEL Process. File name remains the same and extension of the file will changes after processing is done.
    3. BPEL Process will then invoke the adapter to list all the files from the "B" directory using "File Listing" operation of the Adapter.
    4. BPEL will check if the same file with the processed extension is available in the "B" directory.
    5. If it is available then BPEL will invoke the Adapter to move the processed file from "B" to "A" again.
The issue is in case of large files if the Processed file is still being moved into "B" then it is being picked by "File Listing" and then being moved into "A". We have a wait activity to give some time for the file to get processed.

  • File adapter picking up partial files

    Hi All,
We are facing a wierd problem with the File Adapter.
The problem is that, we are getting the xml files from the source system, and PI is supposed to pick them up and process them. Sometimes, the file adapter is picking up the empty files / partial files, i.e., before the file is completely written on to the FTP folder.
We tried increasing the polling interval. But this did not help. Since we are taking the files from the FTP, the option "MSecs" in Additional Parameters also will not work. As we are on PI 7.0 SP13, we tried to search for the "Empty File Handling" option wherein we can make the file adapter skip the 0kb files. But we are not able to find that option anywhere.
Please help us find a solution to this problem.
    Thanks,
    Hari.

    Hari,
In sender communication channel click on  Advanced. Then you see the paramter Msecs to Wait Before Modification Check. Add a value 3000. Then you should be good.

  • File Adapter -- Picking has to wait untill it get fully loaded/write.

    Hi All,
I need to pick the files from a folder and I need to pick the files only which has been written completely.
I should not pick the file in the middle while writing, I need to wait untill it finishes the writing completely.
Is there any setting I can put in Sender File adapter to do this?
    Thanks
    Seema

    Nithya,
    >> Try to increase the processing time in the sender communication channel, so that it allows you to completely load the file. Check the time which is needed to upload the file to the directory manually and correspondingly change the processing time.
We do not know exactly at what time the file will be placed in the folder. It may be at any time. So I cannot put the processing time accurately.
    Aamir,
    >> If you are picking from FTP,MSecs wont work there.the sender program which writes the file must write the file in some temporary format like .dat etc and once the file is complete it should change the filename to .txt, configure the sender file adapter to pick only *.txt files.
This is a good idea. But I don't think I can ask them to change at the other end as it is working previously with other middleware.
    Guys,
Can you please advice which is the best thing we can do at this point of time.?
    Thanks
    Seema.

  • I need to reduce the size of several pdf files before transferring them onto a research database. Each file is made up of 100 images (pages of diaries)

I need to reduce the size of several pdf files before transferring them onto a research database. Each file is made up of 100 images (pages of diaries) & is up to 1.36 GB in size. I have tried reducing file size in preview but the images are unreadable. Any ideas?

WHen I want to reduce the file size, I either use "Optimize Scanned PDF", or more often use "Reduce File Size". Both are on the Document menu. The Reduce File Size selection has some limited customization that is used, when selected.

  • Survey, Do you rename files before bringing them into Aperture.

I'm curious the percentage of us that rename the original files (so we don't have a bunch of images named something like _ACH0001) before final import into Aperture. This includes either editing them then renaming them outside of Aperture and bringing the edited images into Aperture, or bringing them into Aperture, editing them, renaming the kept versions, exporting the masters with the new version name and finally re-importing them back into Aperture.
    So the question is:
Do you rename the original files before bringing them into Aperture?
    My answer is a definite...
    Yes

Since this thread has generated some interesting discussion, let me add some further clarification on our approach:
    1) We use a standard file naming convention NNNddddddssss, where "NNN" = photographer's initials (we need to track multiple photographers); "dddddd" = a unique alpha-numeric date code that will handle any date from 1/1/1850 to the foreseeable future; and "ssss" is a unique image sequence number.
    2) This file naming convention was established long before Aperture was released, supporting a multi-photographer, multi-camera, Photoshop-based workflow. It was also designed to handle scanned images in addition to camera generated images, as we will be scanning and cataloging many historical family images (some copies of original photos over 100 years old) over the next few years.
    3) Since our large base of image files would be converted to Aperture with this naming scheme in place, it made sense to keep this file naming scheme for new files.
Granted, we could just use this scheme for assigning Aperture version names, without worrying about the underlying file name. However, it is more consistent, for our uses, to use the file naming process and ingestion workflow we used pre-Aperture. And the approach has the added advantage that it doesn't matter whether we use image name or version name in our Aperture views. (It seems the default sort order for new projects/albums/etc. is image name, a bit annoying actually given the focus of Aperture on versions.)
So whether one uses just version names, or version names and renamed image names, the really important thing is to design and use an open-ended naming scheme that can handle multiple uses, and multiple image sources, on the front end of any digital asset management strategy -- whether that asset management is done in Aperture, in Bridge, or in a cataloging application like iView Media Pro.

  • Need to backup the file before processing in XI

    Hi all
I need to backup the incoming the file and then processing it in XI.(i.e)sender adapter picks the file and then backup that file and then send it onto IE.
I am aware that there is a option in sender file  CC "Run operating system Command Before Msg Proceessing".We have to set one batch file in it.
Could you please explain whats the exact commands for this case?

    Hi Rajesh,
    >>>>backup
For you information you can archive the file details of the modes are below
    Processing Mode as
    A) Archive
Files that have been successfully processed are moved to an archive directory.
    1) To add a time stamp to a file name, select the Add Time Stamp indicator.
The time stamp has the format yyyMMdd-hhMMss-SSS_. The time stamp ensures that the archived files are not overwritten and it enables you to sort them according to the time that they were received.
2)Under Archive Directory, enter the name of the archive directory.
If you want to archive the files on the FTP server, set the Archive Files on FTP Server indicator. If you do not set the indicator, the files are archived in the Adapter Engine file system.
    B)  Delete
    Successfully processed files are deleted.
    C)   Test
    Files are not processed.
Only use this mode to test the configurations of the file/FTP adapter or the Integration Engine/PCK. It is not suitable for productive operation.
    D)Set to Read-Only
Successfully processed files are given this attribute. Only writable files are processed. This selection is only available for the File System (NFS) transport protocol.
    >>>>>Run Operating System Command Before/After Message Processing
      Command Line
An operating system command specified here is executed before or after the message processing of a file that was found in a run. The default value is an empty character string (no command).
When the operating system command is called, the file name currently being processed can be specified with the following placeholders:
    1)       %f (file name)
    2)     %F(absolute file name including path)
    3)      Timeout (secs)
This specifies the maximum runtime of the executing program in seconds. When this time interval is exceeded, the adapter continues processing. The executing program continues to run in the background.
    4)    Terminate Program After Timeout
Set this indicator if the adapter is to terminate the executing program when the timeout is exceeded.
The adapter writes the output (STDOUT and STDERR) for the operating system command in the system trace.
Message processing is independent of any errors that occur during the execution of a configured operating system command.

There is no advantage to saving or opening other than at the native resolution.
Actually, not entirely true. In the case of Fuji DSLR's you would do better to double the rez in Camera Raw as that matches the interpolation that the Fuji software does in their higher quoted "effective resolutions"(it ain't real resolution mind you but it can benefit certain image types).
If you know for an absolute fact you need more resolution than the native file has, you really might want to test upsampling in Camera Raw as it has a newly tuned upsample (put in in ACR 5.2) that is an adaptive Bicubic algorithm that is either the normal Bicubic or Bicubic Smoother depending on the size–and that's something even Photoshop can't do.
But in general unless you know for a fact you need the image bigger (or have a Fuji camera) processing at the file's native size is the most efficient.

  • Password protect files before sending to backup

I use dropbox for online backup. They lack the ability to password protect files before sending them to dropbox. Is there a way to do this, given how dropbox works?
Or, is there a backup service similar to dropbox (windows and mac in one account) that does provide password protection before sending?
One option is to compress and encrypt the files then drop that zip into a dropbox folder. I'd loose the auto backup monitoring since I would have to get involved with each backup but that's ok if nothing else is available. Any suggestions on something free that can compress and password protect the compressed file? Or if nothing free, what else is good?

How do I know the DMG is going over to dropbox encrypted?
    Control-Click on the .dmg
    Select Show Package Contents.
You should now see the individual 8MB chunks that make up the Encrypted Sparse Bundle.
Open any of them (maybe using TextEdit, or TexWrangler, or Smultron). If you can figure out what is says, then encryption is not working. However, what you should see is gobbledy gook (encrypted data).
Also, the DMG initially set its size to 100MB. Can that grow dynamically?
I am not sure, but I think it will not. However, because you are using a Sparse Bundle, it will only consume the space it needs to hold the files you put into the mounted .dmg, so you can size it for a very large size. Maybe the size limit Dropbox imposes on you.

  • Stoping loaded files before they start

I have a preloader that starts to play clips for about a
second before they are stopped - they are seen and heard for that
brief period of time during the preloading, which does not look
very good. The preloader is based on the MediaLoader class by
Macromedia from a few years ago - it is instantiated, passed an
on-stage holder clip, and passes back an array with references to
the clips in the on-stage holder clip once completed. There is code
to stop the clips inside the loader object once onLoadComplete is
    called.
Does it sound like a design issue, or is this typical of
    preloaders, or what?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
I have had a similar problem where users are uploading 40! attachments into an ADF app. Because it is a one at a time approach I was in disbelief that they had sat there and done that in the first place! I was considering limiting them to selecting *.zip files enforcing them to zip before upload. This would reduce space requirements, upload time and also number of up/downloads of the files.

  • Can I back up the files before doing the recovery?

    Hello
If using the recovery disk to load windows (I have Windows Vista 32-bit) is it possible to save files (pictures, etc...) before wiping out these files on the hard drive?
I have not backed up some files and cannot access windows to do this now...am wondering if I can back up the files before doing the recovery?
Any help would be appreciated : )

    Hello
You can try to start Vista in Safe mode. Start your notebook and press F8. Choose option to start OS in safe mode. When Vista starts connect external HDD or USB memory stick and copy all your data there.
I have done this three weeks ago. I was not able to start Vista properly due to blue screen.

You will need a separate partition unless you plan to use the entire drive. You will need an amount of space somewhat larger than the total space now used on your startup drive. If you select the startup drive's Desktop icon, then press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. Used space will be shown in the topmost panel. Add a GB or two to that number to determine how much space you'll need for the backup.
Do not backup on a drive that has any files you want to keep. You can make a bootable backup as follows:
Clone using Restore Option of Disk Utility
      1. Open Disk Utility in the Utilities folder.
      2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
      3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
      4. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag
it to the Destination entry field.
      5. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to
          the Source entry field.
      6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.

    Back up all data.
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, there should be a setting in its preferences such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected. Otherwise do as follows.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.
