SyncRead moving files before it is completely available

Hi,
Have a scenario where the BPEL File Adapter with Sync Read operation will move a file from source directory to target directory. For small files testing seems to be OK. In case of large files the moving operation is started by Sync Read before the file is completely available in the Source directory. As a result incomplete files are being moved into target directory and BPEL process is getting completed. Any suggestion on this...???

Hi,
Scenario is as follows ( explained with example):
1. BPEL moves a file from "A" directory to "B" directory.
2. There is some processing of the file that has been moved into the "B" directory which is out of scope for the BPEL Process. File name remains the same and extension of the file will changes after processing is done.
3. BPEL Process will then invoke the adapter to list all the files from the "B" directory using "File Listing" operation of the Adapter.
4. BPEL will check if the same file with the processed extension is available in the "B" directory.
5. If it is available then BPEL will invoke the Adapter to move the processed file from "B" to "A" again.
The issue is in case of large files if the Processed file is still being moved into "B" then it is being picked by "File Listing" and then being moved into "A". We have a wait activity to give some time for the file to get processed.

The above parameter is only applicable when picking file from NFS,it has no effect on FTP.

Underlying Error=(Error Domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomain Code=5 "The operation couldn’t be completed. Input/out. Any thoughts on what is causing these errors and the upgrade failure?
    Thanks

I have no idea what the specific error code means but input/output errors can sometimes mean a disk is failing. Make a couple of backups of all important data before doing anything else.
Verify your startup disk using the First Aid tab in Disk Utility. If the disk needs repair boot from your Leopard DVD and repair your disk from Disk Utility under Utilities on the screen after you choose your language. Repeat the repair process until Disk Utility reports all is well.
If Disk Utility doesn't find any errors you might want to try a new download of the update and keep a sharp eye on your HD for anything else that might indicate all is not well. Take special care to back up important data.
If Disk Utility finds errors it would probably be a good idea to pay a visit to the Apple Store to have them check out your hard drive even if Disk Utility is able to repair the errors.

You will need a separate partition unless you plan to use the entire drive. You will need an amount of space somewhat larger than the total space now used on your startup drive. If you select the startup drive's Desktop icon, then press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. Used space will be shown in the topmost panel. Add a GB or two to that number to determine how much space you'll need for the backup.
Do not backup on a drive that has any files you want to keep. You can make a bootable backup as follows:
Clone using Restore Option of Disk Utility
      1. Open Disk Utility in the Utilities folder.
      2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
      3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
      4. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag
it to the Destination entry field.
      5. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to
          the Source entry field.
      6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.

  • Another person asking about moving files in lightroom

I have spent several hours today trying to sort out, what I thought was going to be an easy question.
Moving files from my internal hdd to an external one.
Ok, I know it should be easy, a trillion posts say how to do this.
    Sys info (from LR itself):
    Lightroom version: 3.3 [711369]
Operating system: Windows Vista Home Edition Service Pack 2 (Build 6002)
    Version: 6.0 [6002]
    Application architecture: x86
    System architecture: x86
    Physical processor count: 2
    Processor speed: 1.7 GHz
    Built-in memory: 3061.6 MB
Real memory available to Lightroom: 716.8 MB
Real memory used by Lightroom: 343.8 MB (47.9%)
Virtual memory used by Lightroom: 318.7 MB
    Memory cache size: 0.0 MB
    System DPI setting: 96 DPI
    Desktop composition enabled: Yes
    Displays: 1) 1280x800
My files and their backups were scattered across 3 drives, I reformatted (a complete format - not a quick format) then proceeded to move the larger part of my library onto it using lightroom, apply some metadata and allowing lightroom to put them in date specific folders.
Phew that was a long job.
Now I wanted to take what was left of my library that currently resides on my C:/ drive in my laptop and move it onto the external 1tb drive.  It says they are already there.
Searching for them outside of windows says they are not there.  Trying to use the import dialog with the move function comes up with nothing to move.
I could drag and drop but I get a dialog box saying I can't undo anything that has been done to these files before.  I want to keep and be able to edit/undo my edits.  Isn't that what LR3 is supposed to be?
Anyways; I'd love some help.  I have tried watching some of David Marx videos (from the lightroom lab site) and a large number of threads on this forum.  I'm stumped and I'm frustrated.
    Thanks for your time.

    Okay....
I think I've answered my own question... sort of.
I tried the drag and drop method of copying and that seems to work.  I don't understand the dialog box and why it makes it seem so final.
So, I don't know why the import function didn't work, when the other night it did, but the drag and drop method worked where the import dialog failed and I'll have to change the folders and metadata manually.

  • I moved files off my computer to an external hard drive now time machine won't back up like it used to.  It says there is not enough room.

My hard drive was completely full (mostly with pictures) so I moved several years worth of photos from the hard drive to an external hard drive I regularly use with the laptop. (Basically my master copies of all my photos back to 1997)  I have always had Time Machine set up to back up both the laptop AND that external drive.  It's always worked seamlessly until I moved those files.  Time Machine has been full for a while now and regularly gives me a message that the oldest files will be deleted.  That's fine.
I don't understand why moving files from the laptop to the external hd would now cause the following message (not an exact quote): Time Capsule cannot complete backup.  You need 233 gb to backup and time capsule only has 107 gb available. If time capsule was already set to backup up both the laptop and the external hd, why would moving those photos from one hd to the other cause a space issue?  It should equal out.   And now when I look at the files on the time capsule, it only shows me a recent backup and a partial incomplete backup.  None of the older backups are visible anymore. I have not deleted anything directly from the time capsule so I'm thinking somehow the index got damaged.  How can I fix this?  The error message says to change the settings but I really don't know what settings to change.  Help!!

It does not immediately delete the files that are missing.. it merely tries to backup the new files it has discovered on the external drive. Since you moved the files there, the backup at least for a while will contain both copies.. and that is why it doesn't have enough space to backup.
Fixing the problem.. hmm pondini is the expert.. you should be able to delete the backup of the photos in existing backup.. there are instructions to do it.. but it is a very poor way to do things.
Much better. .archive off the existing backup.. this is long and slow but worth it. you need a usb drive of the same size as the TC drive. Then erase the TC and start a fresh set of backups.
The alternative is to use the USB drive as a new target.. but it is much slower than the TC internal drive.

  • New External Drive connected to Time Capsule moving files problem

I have a late 2009 13" unibody MacBook Pro, that I primarily use for video editing/converting. I use my Time Capsule as a network through which I can connect to my external hard drives via USB for videos and such. I've used at least two other external hard drives along with my Time Capsule for a year and a half with very few problems, aside from the inevitable crash of one. Before yesterday, I had a 1TB Western Digital MyBook (http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=210) and a 2TB Verbatim Desktop HD (http://www.verbatim.com/prod/hard-drives/desktop/usb-2.0/) connected through my 1TB Time Capsule and aside from the Verbatim drive being rather sluggish most of the time, everything was working fine.
Yesterday, I got a new external drive, an iOmega MiniMax 2TB (http://go.iomega.com/en-us/products/external-hard-drive-desktop/ultramax-minimax /minimax800/?partner=4760). I spent yesterday and most of today moving files around and whatnot through a wired connection (iOmega via firewire 800, Verbatim via USB, MyBook via USB, and Time Capsule via Ethernet), and everything moved quickly and without any problems.
I hooked my Time Capsule up to my modem, plugged in the iOmega and Verbatim drives via USB to the TC, and started my laptop. When I opened the drives, everything was working fine... And then I tried to move a file to the iOmega drive... I was moving an episode of The Killing. I dragged it into the folder and went to Safari to look something up and suddenly realized ten minutes later that I still hadn't heard the noise telling me that the file had finished. I looked at the move dialogue box and it said "156.8 MB of 323.8 MB - About 10 Seconds". I watched it for another ten minutes and it didn't move. So I clicked cancel move and the rainbow wheel of death came up and I had to force reboot my computer.
When I restarted, I opened up finder to access the drives through my Time Capsule, and it "failed to connect" to my Time Capsule. So I went back into my office to flip the switch on the surge protector in order to restart the process. I turned on my computer and I had no problem accessing my hard drives... Until I tried to move an episode of United States of Tara into the iOmega hard drive. This time, it said, "192.5 MB of 202.6 MB - About 5 Seconds" and completely stopped moving again. And the same thing happened when I clicked the little grey "x" to cancel the move.
I repeated the process several more times with no luck. Then I thought it might help to see if it does the same thing with documents. So I dragged just a random document to the iOmega and it took about 30 seconds, but it did it successfully. So I tried to move the episode of The Killing again and I let it go for, like, 25-30 minutes. After this time, I got a notification from finder saying, "Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "[the file]" can't be read or written. (Error Code -36)". Then when I went back into the "Shared" part of the sidebar to go back into my Time Capsule folder, it said "Connection Failed"
So what exactly does this mean? Are the Time Capsule and iOmega not compatible? Can I only move the files through a wired connection [which would be unfortunate]? Do I need to rejigger the USB configuration? Is the error code just for these two episodes and it's just a random coincidence that it happened the day after I got a new drive?
Thanks for any help anyone can give me!
    - Alex

I have attached the macbook to the tc via ethernet cable. Should I turn off my wireless connection or will itunes recognize to go with the faster connection on it's own?
You MBP will try to connect based on the order of the list of network devices on the System Preferences > Network window. If Ethernet is not at the top of the list, then go ahead and temporarily disable AirPort.
After all this is done will the wireless connection be fast enough for normal itunes operation?
For audio streaming it should be, but just be aware that your iTunes host will have to get the audio source wirelessly from the TC, which in turn will have to get the data from the USB hard drive. Finally, the iTunes host will have to wirelessly stream the iTunes audio via AirTunes to the AirPort Express.

With your Publish+Share/Disc/AVCHD can you burn to folder successfully for AVCHD on DVD disc?
Just before you were ready to start the burn to AVCHD on DVD disc, In the Quality Area of the burn to AVCHD on DVD, what are the readings for Space Required and Bitrate (with and without a check mark next to "Fit Content To Available Space"?
Please review your Scratch Disk situation (locations and free space at the locations). See Edit Menu/Preferences/Scratch Disks as well as the contents of the project's files/folders in the 12.0 Folder in Libraries/Documents/Premiere Elements (if Windows).

  • Help, i am trying to print my JPEG file that i created in photoshop at a photo lab but it is coming out like an X-ray. I have printed these files before so i have no idea what i am doing wrong.

Help, i am trying to print my JPEG file that i created in photoshop at a photo lab but it is coming out like an X-ray. I have printed these files before so i have no idea what i am doing wrong.
Could it be something i have done in my settings?
or when i am saving the file to JPEG?

Basically you're approaching this the wrong way around. What you need is the extreme sections to be quieter, not louder. The problem with moving the lower end of the audio is that you'll move the noise floor too, and get what's generally referred to as a 'pumping' effect. So what you do is to use a compressor to tame the peaks, and leave the lower level sound alone. When you've done that, you amplify (or normalize to a level you can determine) the whole signal. So the noise floor will be higher, but constant and not pumping. 'Match Volume' is a completely different tool for setting the overall levels of different tracks so that they sound approximately the same - it doesn't even begin to do what you want.
If it's music you are treating, then I'd almost certainly use the multiband compressor, because you get less artefacts with this. You need to experiment with the threshold levels, and almost certainly not use a massive compression ratio - 3:1 or 4:1 should be sufficient (although it's hard to tell without actually hearing the audio). You can tell what it's doing at any given point because the downward meter indicates how hard it's working. In theory you can apply make-up gain with it as well, but personally I leave that until everything's treated and use the 'Normalize' tool to set an absolute max level.

  • Everytime I try to burn an iMovie project to a DVD with iDVD, the disc is ejected during the Burning and Multiplexing phase before it's completed.

For months I have been unable to burn any iMovie project to a DVD using iDVD.  During the Burning and Multiplexing phase the disc is ejected before it's complete.  I went the Genius Bar and after many tests I was told that my disc drive was pretty much dead.  The person that helped recommended that I buy an external DVD burner from amazon.  I bought the new drive and I can now burn files, but I'm still encountering the same issue burning a movie.  Does anyone have any idea what'g going on?  I'm extremely frustrated at this point!

Read this treatise on Multiplexing by  Bengt Wärleby: HT1645 I was burning a DVD and the...: Apple Support Communities.
Follow this workflow to help ensure the best quality final product:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Moving files between folders is very slow

Hi, I have an iMac 2011. Processor: 2.7GHz Intel Core i5/ Memory 4GB
    OS X Yosemite, version 10.10.1
After I change my OS from Mavericks to Yosemite, moving files between folders is very slow.
For example, if I move one jpg file in Desktop to Pictures folder (or just any other folders like Trash), it takes about 3 seconds.
When I was still using Mavericks, it made that Ding sound and transferred files right away. However, now, although it makes the Ding sound right away, the file is still there for 3 seconds.
I tried to clean up my mac using many apps, but they never fixed this problem.
I've also tried what I saw on this one thread. OS X File Transfers Very Slow
Go->Connect to Server then type "cifs://server-address" but it says there is a problem and did nothing. (maybe different issue)
    Please help!

There may be other issues, but you installed the "Genieo" or "InstallMac" ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Besides the files listed in the linked support article, you may also need to remove this file in the same way:
    ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.ltvbit.plist
If there are other items with a name that includes "Genieo" or "genieo" alongside any of those you find, remove them as well.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, then you may have one of the other kinds of adware covered by the support article. Follow the rest of the instructions in the article.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. Chances are you got it from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates
    if it's not already checked.

  • Moving files by dragging

    Hi,
I am having trouble moving files, whether it be into trash or into an existing folder. The only way it lets me is by copy and paste, however my sister has the same Mac air and can drag her files without any problems. Can I change this issue in my settings?
    Thank you

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Issue in moving files from data fodler to processed folder in background

    Hi All,
I am facing one issue in moving files from data fodler to processed folder in case of background execution.
When i am executing the file in the foreground, i can move the file from Data folder to processed folder. I am using SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE FM to move the file from data folder to processed folder.  I can see the file in processed folder once the program is executed.
But in case of executing the same program in background, it is giving me the error "Failed to move the file to processed folder" in the spool of SM37 and i can see the file still laying in data folder.
I tried to check other programs which acesses the same folder as the above program, whether they are able to move. They are able to move the file to processed fodler successfully both in foreground and background mode.
Please help me in resolving this issue.
    Thanks,

  • "Could not open scratch file because disc is not available" Mac

I recently changed the Photoshop (CS6) Scratch Disk choice from the default Boot Drive to one of the other internal drives in my MacPro (OS 10.6.8).
When I restart Photoshop (CS6) I get the message:
"Could not open scratch file because disc is not available"
    and Photoshop will not launch.
I then restart Photoshop with "Command - alt - shift" keys held down
    (as per suggestion at <http://forums.adobe.com/message/3937003>)
and reset the preferences which allows Photoshop to come back.
(Resetting preferences returned the Boot Drive to scratch disk status.)
I have another MacPro that - same OS 10.6.8 and Adobe CS6 - and I don't have this scratch disk allocation problem.
What is going on with the one  MacPro that prevents me from selecting a Photoshop scratch disk other than the boot drive?

    Ignore Ownership worked. Thank you!
I saw this suggestion on another Discussion thread but wondered if that could be the problem since the non-boot scratch disks used on other computers here do not have this property chosen.
"Permissions", "Ignore Ownership", and "apply to enclosed items" remain a mystery to me.
As for Terminal, I've had my hand held a couple of times while I went there and it was not a comforting experience.
Our work setup depends on complete access by everybody to everything (Read&Write Privileges apply to everyone here). We occasionally swap drives between computers which may cause problems, but why should it and how am I to know. The computer that prompted this discussion had its main hard drive replaced a couple of months ago which may have contributed to the problem.
Is there a down-side to ignoring ownership on everything and having "read-write" privileges apply to everyone (aside from lax security)?

  • Trouble Moving Files in Dreamweaver (CS3)

    Hi,
Having a real problem maneuvering some files around.
At the moment I have my index.html file which links to a folder called 2009website, which contains 4 folders each with a mini site in.
So for instance the index file is pointing to 2009website/design/print.html
    and also
    2009website/business/clientportfolio.html
    etc, etc.
What I want to do is take those 4 mini sites outside of the 2009website folder so that my index file points to:
    design/print.html
    and
    business/clientportfolio.html
So I've moved the folders in my Files Panel and clicked "Update links" in the dialog box which seemed to work nicely. Only problem is all the images and css links within the HTML are still looking in the 2009website folder, i.e.
2009website/design/css/design.css (and there's nothing in that folder anymore)
Is there anyway I can remove the 4 folders and have the internal links update so they drop the 2009website/ and just look for the relevant folder and file?
I know it's my own fault for putting everything inside the 2009website folder when there was no real need to.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When you say you updated the links and everything seems to be ok - do you see any broken links within DW design view itself?
If the files are pointing to that particular folder for the images and the css, but there is Nothing in the folders, then there is a major issue I think.
This means that the updating of the links didn't work as you expected - if the files are not in the relevant folders, but the images and css are pointing to them,  then you should be seeing broken links...
    What you could try:
Backup what you have now - so it doesn't get any messier  :-)    (hopefully you have a backup copy of the original before you starting moving files !)
If you are sure that the files are all within the root of the site and not within that 2009 folder, then maybe do a find and replace and remove the beginning of the url, so that it points to where you moved the files to.  Try it on one page and see if it makes a difference.
You could also try and move around the images folder and the css folder and see if you get a pop up with DW asking if you want to update the links and see what happens.
Another idea  - do you have an images folder defined in the site definition?
Other than that, I'm not sure what else you can do.
