Create a simple app object and add the file under the "distribution" tab.
Note that you can use variables to resolve things like Windows dir
correctly on different OS versions.

  • NAC 4.8 File distribution issue

    Hi,
I upgraded my NAC deployment from 4.7.2 to 4.8 but i had a problem, one of the requeriments (with file distibution rememediation) didn't work. This take a lot of time when NAC try to download the file and then appear and error message in the agent. I cheked the configuration (The rule in the traffic control for to pass the traffic from Untrusted interface to CAM by ports 80 and 443) and the file size is at most 5MB. Any problem with the new release of NAC and the file distribution??
    Thanks,
    Jorge

    Hi All,
Not that there was a ton of help, but I got it sorted myself. Turned out that I needed to tag the management vlan on the eth0 interface.
The cisco NAC appliance hardware document is pretty vague around this setting, but it turns out I had to tag the management vlan on that port to allow the CAS to connect to the CAM.
Now to try to workout why a simple layer 2 connection between the two eth2 interface on my CAS servers for the heartbeats isn't communicating....any ideas of this.....anyone?

  • WebHelp Output files distribution and deployment regarding

    Hi,
I am just starting to try, learn RH7 to generate WebHelp.
I successfully did a very simple and basic test project and
our developer displayed the topic help on pressing F1.
    Good.
Our application is a backoffice payment system. Currently the
application is deployed on the Application Server which is
Macromedia JRUN 4 with the OS - MS Windows 2003 std edition SP1.
My compnay is planning for the following:
The application shall be deployed on the Application Server
Weblogic 10x on a UNIX box (could be IBX AIX/HP UX).
The application is bundled as .WAR.
Could you please clarify this for us?
    - Should the WebHelp output folder be bundled along with the
    above .WAR?
    - Can the Help files reside on Application server or the Web
Server (only the Help not the application) and
can still work effectively? (We prefer the Help to be on the
    App Server tho')
Well, if I am not clear, I'll be glad to get you more
    details.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Radha Renganathan

    Hi Radha.
Don't get confused between the generated and the published
output. The published output is the actual output required to be
placed where your users will access it. The location is defined in
the final part of the WebHelp single source layout. The help can
reside just about anywhere. You may want to check out our resident

  • File Distribution App?

If my staff had iPod Touches or an iPad, is there an app that could be used to distribute reports and the like directly to them without their "input"? Just trying to think forward as this technology moves forward.

Sparky, you made your point. Dont be offended that I dont take the first response, or that I perhaps think there is a solution out there neither of us know about.
I'm not offended at all, Dropbox wasn't my suggestion... but even that program does not allow you to move files onto somebody else's iPod.
    chaznsc wrote:

Not every single app... just the ones that allow file sharing.
    chaznsc wrote:
You seem to put your responses in absolutes. And no, Im not talking about some sort of app that give you access to just anyone riding by, but a group app sort of situation.
That's the security issue... if you allow something like that for one, then it would also be allowed for anyone riding by... the O/S wouldn't know the difference between you and a hacker.
140,000 apps in the store and absolutely none of them will do something that the iPod O/S won't allow it to do. But if you really think that copying a file onto another person's iPods is a real possibility then you should be able to easily find it using the search function of the app store.

  • Desktop Application Distribution with Files in ZFS 6.5

I'm trying to do a Desktop Application Distribution with a simple NAL and
can not get the files associated with the NAL to copy to the subscriber
server. I am using ZFS 6.5 SP1. I am using a mapped drive letter in the NAL
and have chosen "Keep the same source paths for the replicated objects" in
the distribution. I also have defined a variable in the service location
package as 'drive letter'='volume name' and associated this policy with the
container that the distributor and subscriber are in. I checked the box in
the subscriber's variable property to use this policy. The documentation
also says to use a SOURCE_PATH macro and 'Package Source List' to define the
mapped drive but I am unsure how those should be defined. Should they be
just a drive letter or the entire path to the applications files? Also, I'm
not sure if anything else is need to make this work.
Any Ideas of what I might need to do to get this to work?
    Thanks!
    John

    Graham,
Thanks for the suggestions. I thought this type of distribution still
worked in Zen 6.5. It used to work great for us under Zen 6 and I hadn't
seen anything that said it didn't work with Zen 6.5. We'll probably use a
second distribution for the short term and then try one of your other
suggestions or see if we can find another way that works better.

  • The difference between a .dmg file & a .cdr file (using Disk Utility) ?

    Hi,
In particular, I created both from a DVD using Disk Utility.
When I chose "read only" a .dmg was created.
When I chose "DVD/CD Master" a .cdr was created.
They are exactly the same size.
    Is there any difference ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Pat De Marco

    HI Pat,
From Wikipedia: A file with the extension .dmg (an abbreviation for disk image) uses a disk image format commonly found on Mac OS X. The format allows secure password protection as well as file compression and hence serves both security and file distribution functions. Its most common function is the distribution of software over the Internet. When opened, DMG files are "mounted" as a drive within the Finder.
    From: Wikipedia .cdr and ISO
    ISO image
    Filename extension .iso
    Uniform Type Identifier public.iso-image
    Type of format Disk image
    Standard(s) ISO 9660
An ISO image is an archive file (a.k.a. disk image) of an optical disc using a conventional ISO (International Organization for Standardization) format that is supported by many software vendors. ISO image files typically have a file extension of .ISO but Mac OS X ISO images often have the extension .CDR. The name "ISO" is taken from the ISO 9660 file system used with CD-ROM media, but an ISO image can also contain UDF file system because UDF is backward-compatible to ISO 9660.

  • Hosting Zenworks 7 Application Files On Windows Server?

    Hi,
    Background:
We currently host our Zenworks packages on Netware 6.5 servers. Our Zen7 is also installed on a Netware 6.5 server so we are running Novell Client 4.91 SP2 and the Zenworks agent on our Windows XP SP3 desktops (no middle tier).
We are now in the process of moving to Active Directory, and one of the first steps will be to migrate file services over to Windows shares. We currently use either the MSI feature of NAL to elevate rights or we use unsecured system user to elevate rights as our users are not Administrators of their workstations. We associate our application objects to either user container, user group, or simply invidual users. Our login scripts map drive letters to our Netware shares. Our MSI objects in NAL access the packages via the mapped drive letter while our normal objects (unsecured system user) access them by UNC path or by using application file distribution feature of NAL.
    Questions:
Will there be any issues with moving the application files from Netware to Windows? What file permissions would we have to grant on the Windows side to allow the Zenworks agent to access the file shares? I know on the Netware side, we would grant read rights to the file share to the same containers, users, or groups that have access to the application object. We also granted our workstations container access to certain directories so that the unsecured system user could access the shares via UNC path. I've seen some discussion on the forums about using the built-in Everyone account on the Windows side. Would there be additional accesses required? What about the security implications of granting Everyone read access to these shares? I'm just trying to get an idea of what would be needed on the Windows side to allow Zenworks to keep working. Obviously we'll probably be keeping our eDirectory infrastructure at least until all phases of the migration are complete.
    Thanks in advance!

You can Grant FileSystem Rights to DomainWorkstationObjects just as you
granted rights to ZENworks Workstation Objects.
These rights will be used by processes running in the SYSTEM space.
The result should be that there would be little issue with using a
Windows Share in lieu of a NetWare share for ZDM7.

  • Distribution appears dead!

Does anyone know what the error message "Distribution appears dead!" means?
I have several distributions applied to several servers. They are set to
refresh hourly. All of them worked perfectly at one time, but now each
distribution is returning this error message for some, but never the same
    servers.
    For example:
Distribution 1 (inventory policy) reports the error on servers a,b, and c.
Distribution 2 (file distribution) reports the error on servers d, e, and
    f.
Distribution 3 (file distribution) returns the error on servers g, h, and
    i.
I've checked the KB, but found no reference to this error message.
    Thank you for your assistance.

  • Copying same file to multiple locations problem

This is really bugging me.... since upgrading to Lion, file distribution is taking a lot longer. I can no longer copy the same (large) file to multiple remote systems (via finder) at the same time. The first copy kicks off fine and subsequent ones just queue up. In SL they used to all run at the  same time. What's with the single threading!!!  this is VERY annoying. Am I alone here or is the a general problem? I think I will log this. I'm sure one of my systems still has Applecare.

Apple have rejected this as a bug and claim it to be a feature of Lion. Feature my arse. It's either a bug a stupid idea by some dimwit who didn't think it through. If you're not happy with this new "feature" complain via feedback as a support call will result only in frustration.

  • Simple App Distribution

I’ve been using Zenwork for many years but just started a company
wide design to use Zenworks Server management, primarily T.E.D. System
    overview: Windows 2003 SP2 – eDir 8.7.3.9 – Zenworks Desktop
    Management 7.01 HP3 – Zenworks Server Management 7.01 HP4
The problem I have is trying to distribute a “simple app” from
the Distributor to 50+ subscribers. For example, I want to maintain one
copy of ConsoleOne and distribute to my remote site and run from the
network. All my MSI “Desktop Distributions” and “File
    Distributions” work fine.
    Distributor Defined Macro: SOURCE_PATH = \masterzenZENAppsConsoleone
    Distributor Path: \masterzenZENAppsConsoleOne
    Distributor File: \masterzenZENAppsConsoleOne1.2binConsoneOne.exe
    Distributor Run to path: \%SOURCE_PATH%1.2binConsoleOne.exe
Subscriber Defined Macro: SOURCE_PATH = ZEN (Windows App Share)
    Subscriber Path: \remotesiteZENAppsConsoleOne
    Subscriber File: \remotesiteZENAppsConsoleOne1.2binConsoneOne.exe
    Subscriber Run to path: \%SOURCE_PATH%1.2binConsoleOne.exe
The files and folder defined within the Distributors
“SOURCE_PATH” do push to the Subscribers, but the “Run
to Path” field doesn’t update the way I expect. The “Run
to Path” field gets completely replaced with the
“SOURCE_PATH” value, not inserting itself into the needed
    space “\%SOURCE_PATH%1.2binConsoleOne.exe”

Novell says there is a bug with ZSM TED that removes anything after
\%SOURCE_PATH% ... in the "Path to File".
Should have a patch 2-3 weeks, hopefully less!??

  • Extracting distributions

    Guys,
I just want to confirm my understanding of the extraction of distributions.
We are running ZFS 3.0.2 on NetWare 6 SP5, this is primarily in relation to
    file packages.
Does the subscriber extract during every scheduled extract period (in our
    case, every day)?
The way I understand it is that during every extract period (configured to
every day) the ZFS agent on the subscriber server extracts all packages it
has, it does not matter if a package was received that day or two months
ago. If there is no changes between the files in the distribution and those
on the server then no files are changed and the extraction of that package
ends. If there is a difference between the distribution and the files on
the server then the server files are updated with the distribution. For
example a set of files is distributed to all servers and extracted. After
several months, when the files no longer need distribution, the package is
inactivated and removed from all channels. If the distribution files still
exist on the subscriber then the files will be extracted every day. Is this
    so?
Are the only ways to resolve this to upgrade to ZEN 6.5 and use the setting
to remove the temporary files or to manually go to all servers in the
network and delete the distributions I do not want extracted?
    Thaniks in advance.
    Michael
    EDS.

No, if a distribution is extracted it doesn't re-extract again unless there
is a new revision. On the file distribution there is an option to re-run at
every extrect, this is the verification distribution option, this will check
the files at every extract but this option isn't enabled by default.

  • EPM Distribution on BPC 10

    Hi,
we're facing performance issues about files distribution on BPC 10 NW.
These files distribution happened during the night.
We would like to investigate on process batch/dialogs consumption and adapt if needed.
Where can I see how many processes were used during night and at what intensity ? (t-code, ...)
On SM50 and SM66, I only see live process batches and dialog .
Maybe we are wrong and should investigate on other resources ...?
    Thanks for your help,
    Philippe

    Hello,
C# reporting would be completely different from BPC reports. ( C# would based on code and some inbuilt controls which Microsoft provides)
First try for simple reports, also focus on the new EPM functions, this guide would be a starting point
    http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boeo10/en/EPMofc_10_user_en.pdf
Other important reports would be balance sheet, P&L, Cash Flow, reports and input forms for head count planning, capex, opex etc.
You can take one at a time.
    Thanks
    Ed.

  • Files that make up a tablespace

    Hi,
I understand that a tablespace is the lowest level logical entity for storing data and that it can be made up of several physical files.
What I am unclear about is how Oracle distributes the data in the physical files (i.e. say I have TB01 (3GB) made up of 3 files TB01_01.ORA (1GB), TB01_02.ORA (1GB) and TB01_03.ORA (1GB). The tablespace is initially empty. If I create a table for one of the schemas using tablespace TB01 and insert enough rows to occupy 1/3 of the tablespace then how should I expect to see the data distribution in the physical files ? ).
I guess my question could be read as :
Is it necessary or even recommended for a tablespace to be made up of several (smaller) physical files if I have enough physical disk space for one large physical file ?
    Thanks,

The reason for having several datafiles on the server for a tablespace is the OS filesize limitation (typically like 2G on UNIX). Another reason is to be covenient
for portable tablespaces, and so on.
However, if you don't have OS limit (like Windows) then having one big tablespace is enough.
If you want to see the distributiion of datafiles run the following query first and then create your table and re-run the query again to see the file distribution.
    select f.tablespace_name, d.file_name, sum(f.bytes) free_space_on_tbl
    from dba_free_space f,
    dba_data_files d
    where d.FILE_ID = f.file_id
    group by f.tablespace_name, d.file_name;
