File export turns off canvas overlay

I have just completed exporting some stills from a sequence. Each time I exported a file using Quicktime Conversion the canvas overlay turned off. Since I was exporting frames based on timecode this was a bit of a pain.
Does anybody know if this is a feature or a bug. I expect that it is a bug, but I have been wrong in the past!

For me it only disappears when clicking on the "Options" button. You shouldn't need to do this once you've set in in a session...

File Sharing Turns off

Hi, I've just set up an intel imac and wanted to connect it to my home network. I can connect from this computer (imac) to an ibook running 10.4.6, but when I try to connect from the ibook to the imac, the connection drops and file sharing turns off by itself.
I can switch it on again, but once i try to connect it turns off by itself again. Any ideas?

after trying all the usual stuff (permissions repair, change sharing name, reinstall & archive, etc) followed by a 1.5 hour call with apple (which had me doing the exactly same stuff all over again) i could only solve this problem by starting from scratch: backing up the relevant files, wiping the drive and reinstalling everything.
i keep a drive with all the most current installers of everything we use in each studio so we can get it all back even from a totally empty drive to up and running in about 2 hours.

Personal file sharing turns off by itself

Hey everyone. My Personal File Sharing keeps turning off on my Mac Pro when I try to access it from my PowerBook. I have tried repairing permissions on both computers and still no luck. Also tried locking the little padlock in the Preferences Control Panel and no luck. The computer name is one word with no spaces.
I did a search on this topic but found an archived post with no new suggestions. Any advice out there?

I'd try trashing on the one that changes...
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.sharing.firewall.plist
Then reboot and setup Sharing again.

Personal File Sharing Turns off after an attempt to connect from other comp

I have personal file sharing turned on on my MacBook and when I attempt to connect to it from my iMac I get a typical logon windows and extended delay and then the message that the Server Connection was Interrupted. When I check Personal File Sharing on the MacBook it has been turned off even though I have locked the settings.
The problem exist whether I use my local Wireless LAN (Apple-N) or an ethernet connection. In both cases the MacBook the ethernet connection is with the a port on the Apple N wireless LAN

It may be solved for you, but I just discovered that since upgrading to 10.4.11 I can no longer connect to any of my other Macs. When I click on network NOTHING shows up in the Finder.
While I'm happy to grab random code posted by an unknown person and stick it in my system, I shouldn't have to. Clearly Whatever the update did to your Mac it did to my MacBook as well and most likely others. If this is the official fix for the problem, Apple needs to acknowledge it and offer a link to the file rather than relying on fix-it forums to solve their problems.
Apple seriously needs to test these updates a little more thoroughly before they make them available. I KNOW you are supposed to back everything up before you do it, yada, yada, yada ... but Apple has basically made the Software update feature an automatic function as if it is the best thing for your computer ... clearly that is not always the case.

IMac Late 2013 Yosemite 10.10.1 File Sharing Turns Off by Itself

I have file sharing turned on because my iMac is a file server for another Mac in the office. It is a new machine and I found that right out of the box when I left it on over night or when I shut it down and rebooted the file sharing kept turning off. I thought I was going crazy until I really paid attention and it kept doing it. Mac support really didn't have an answer. I told him all my settings and he said they were right and that file sharing should arbitrarily turn itself off, but it continues to do it mainly on reboot, but it has happened when I have left it on for more than a day. Any answers?

I see it sometimes saying that credentials were unavailable or inaccessible.....?

Turn off direction overlay in map app?

Once you've asked for directions from here to there in the Map app on the iPhone (and iPad too I suspect), is it possible to then turn off the purple line which indicates the suggested route? Several times I've wanted to not see it as it's so dark it obscures street names and also somtimes it's not the best route and is a distraction.
Is there any way to remove it so that you just see the map of the area?

Exported projector.exe file - sound turning off after a while

I have exported a flash clip as an exe flash presentation file. I am using Windows 7 with flash player 10.
The flash clip contains 4 seperate video files (movie trailers) which have been imported into flash. I am able to play these fine by running the exe file created in Flash (CS4).
After a while (10 min or much longer somethimes) the audio goes off but the flash movie still plays without the audio.
Any ideas what could be wrong?
I have also improved the quality of the video files that I am using within the flash movie (downloaded them as HD video files and converted them to f4v files in Adobe Media Encoder and imported them into flash to play with flv component. Unfortunately when I try to play the published exe file, when it comes to play the imported video elements the audio plays fine but the images of the movie are jittery. Am i doing something wrong?

I don't understand CS4 and how Flash Player is related, so can't respond to that. Perhaps someone else will.
You could look on the right hand side for "more like this" when you open your thread since those threads are related to
issues similar.

Upgraded to Lion. Error turning off Legacy File Vault

I want to use the new file vault so homefolder files are encrypted in my time machine backup. When I was prompted in System Preferences, I chose to "turn off legacy file vault." After the passwords, etc., the system works for a while and has just returned an error message, something to the effect "an error has occured. Legacy File Vault will not be turned off." How do I get Legacy File Vault turned off (e.g, unencrypt the drive?)

- open the account (so that the Home is decrypted)
- make a copy of Home folder
- set a new temporary account (Admin)
- restart with this new temporary account
- remove the original Home folder, then remove the original account (via System Preferences - Users & Groups)
- rename the copy with the original name
- add a new account with the same original name via Users & Groups), that is recreated the deleted account
The system ask you if you want to use the existent Folder with the same - OK
At voila you have the account decrypted

Turning off File Vault

Turned on file vault a few months ago. Can't be too safe you know. Computer began running erratically. Many many odd things began to happen. iphoto could not find any of my 8000 photos. (photos are still on my hard drive though), Mail keeps making me re-establish mail as if I am a first time user, ical repeatedly dumps everything, items show up on my dock that weren't there before, items missing from the dock, lost all 200 of my bookmarks in Safari, all my system preferences are constantly being reset.
Called Apple support. He told me that I shouldn't have turned on file vault. Should only be used by government types. (my opinion is it shouldn't be used by anyone other than those who have a desparate desire to reload all of their software and OS) So we tried to turn off file vault. At that time there was 18 gigs free. File vault says there is not enough room to turn off. Apple rep tells me to buy an external hard drive to copy everything over and then reinstall the OS and all of my software and then bring over my files from the external hard drive. (Sound good so far?) I can't wait to start this process as I have loads of free time and nothing better to do with my life anyway! Oh, and I made an appt with an Apple Genius at the Genius bar at the Biltmore in Phoenix. He told me that I needed to do the same thing. When he tried to turn off file vault, it showed, for some reason, that now only 3 gigs were free. File vault said that if there was only 1kb more free space it could be turned off. So we deleted about a 130 MB of data, and file vault still came up with the same msg. So, after being told that apple does not provide this service and that I would have to fix this problem on my own, I walked out of the store with a brand new Iomega 160GB external hard drive and $160 less in my wallet, all the while veins bulging from my neck, blood pressure shooting through the roof and anger levels normally reserved for things like pay cuts and lost pensions. . So... now I am about to begin my wonderful adventure. First question I have is...If I transfer everything on my computer over to the Iomega while file vault is turned on, how will that effect the files that I bring back over to the Mac that now has file vault turned off? Do I have to bring back the files and programs, one by one by one, or is there a way to restore the entire thing with one operation? Will I get back my iphoto photo albums and all of my slideshows ? (I'm on my knees praying on this one)
Anyway, thanks for listening and for any help , or suggestions you may have and if I may say to others out there... never, ever, ever turn on file vault
P.S. I was a long time windows user, switched to Mac about a year and a half ago. Fell blissfully in love...until now. What made me switch to a Mac was the day that I was re-installed my operating system on my PC for the 6th time in 2 months. I've come full circle.

you would think, seeing how this is obviously a known bug, that apple would do a better job of explaining the setbacks of using FileVault. unfortunately, most of us "common people" aren't privy to this type of information until it's too late..as we're relentlessly searching forum posts at 2am because our 2 week old computer is riddled with error messages.
to my recollection, i never even activated FileVault. as i recall, i first noticed it when i installed Tiger, so i just wrote it off as a new feature. in fact, it ran successfully until i transfered all of my data from my old PowerBook over to my new iMac and then updated to Leopard. now, out of my remaining 233GB available, it's telling me i have less than 1GB left in my home folder. and, as everyone else has been saying, trying to just simply turn FileVault off is futile. it seems that no matter what you're going to get some sort of contradictory error message. for instance, i've only used 37GB of space in my home folder, yet when i go to turn FileVault off it tells me that i need to delete 41GB before i can turn it off. interesting.
fortunately i already have a 500GB external drive that i've since backed the entire contents of my HD onto. however, i'm curious, as captainphx's question from his initial thread went unanswered..if i copy these (encrypted) files over to my external drive, do a clean install of the OS, ensure that FileVault is turned OFF, then copy the files back to my iMac, will there be complications?
i'm going to attempt to call apple support tomorrow, so hopefully i can get this resolved. i'll follow up with the results of that discussion. if apple's not going to make this information readily available then, by god, i will.

When exporting to html, audio files placed in system do not turn off.

When I place a audio file into keynote and play the presentation via an html export, the audio files don't stop playing. If put the keynote.html on the web the only way i can turn off the audio is to refresh the page. I want the audio to stop playing when I advance to the next slide. Any solutions?

This is how sound works in an html export at the moment, maybe it will be improved in a future update.

I am seeing some of the same side effects as others: must force-quit, can add/adjust effects but the preview updates are basically stopped.
In some instances, I've quit the app to find an export in the location I placed it but that's only happened sporadically.
I dearly hope the fix is coming...

I fixed the problem.. but it was very, very strange. I had a very long section for credits and set the line spacing to 1.0.. for some reason this caused it. I removed it, and it worked fine. I put it back, and I couldn't preview or play the video.
I don't know why that could cause that big of a problem, but it did..

After phone support from apple I ended up creating a new project and adding all 117 clips back in individually till I found out what clips flagged and would not allow me to export. I had 3 I deleted and replaced and everything works now 1hr after tedious work....
Where do Your material come from
• Camera
• External hard disk
• USB-memory
And all are connected so that iMovie can find it ?

Importing P3 Files in to Primavera release 8.2 , is turned off , even if P3

Importing P3 Files in to Primavera release 8.2 ,botton is turned off , even if P3 Program is intalled.
Please advise why
i intalled p3 and after that i installed p 8.2
and still this botton dont want to turn on.

I am able to select the option for Import/Export to P3 in the P6r82 fat-client however the actual function fails if I run all the way through.
Export failed stating "Error: couldn't locate USERFIL.P3."
Import was unable to be tested as I do not have a P3 schedule handy.
My issue is due to P3 having been installed on my computer at some point in the past and then removed (as I see some Btrieve registry keys and files but not the actual P3 software).
As the option for P3 is greyed out for you I imagine P6 is unable to see the btrieve files needed for import/export.
- Run the following <regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Oracle\Primavera P6\P6 Professional\Ra\ra32.dll">
- Check your P3 installation and make sure it is functioning correctly.
- See "Unable to Import P3 Project Directly into P6 [ID 910992.1]" in the Oracle KB.
If all else fails try to reinstall both P3 and then P6.

Your music will only be where you put it. You can download the itunes program and sign into your account on any computer, but your music/content will not be there unless you put it there.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer files/docs/pics/music/etc.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy, not good, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod. File>Transfer Purchases

Please take these steps if you're prompted for a password when moving items in your home folder to the Trash.
1. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

2. Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Show Info in Finder (or just Show Info)

3. The dialog should show "You can read and write" in the Sharing & Permissions section.
