Filedpoint / labview use of digi port server
Has anyone accessed digi terminal severs from fieldpoint hardware to increase available rs-232 ports to fieldpoint. I have found the NI equivalent product (enet) solution http://zone.ni.com/devzone/conceptd.nsf/webmain/850F5C45DB8A80AD86256E62007EE351
but since we already have some of the digi products here (TS4) I would like a solution to use them.
Any hints or directions I can look for resources???
Thanks
Andrew
Thanks Sean,
This is the conclusion I had come to as well. I tried TCP/IP and
it worked. however only one connection possible at a time.
Then I moved on to UDP. I can connect with multiple machines to
read the data stream. Yes, UDP has no "guarantee" of getting the
data through.
Here is what I have so far.
Test setup
Serial device: Climatronics Tachmet weather station -
provides a 1 second output of inst Id/ws/wd/temp/rh/press/volts.
Server: Digi One SP - setup for UDP multibroadcast to X.X.X.255 on port 210X
VI - opens multiUDP on 210X. Reads UDP and filters the port for 2101 (Server broadcasts on this port only) and server IP.
Seems to work. I have a couple of machines both reading from it simultaneously.
Comments and suggestions are welcome.
Here the test VI

How to use the same OC4j server with different port number
How to use the same OC4j server with different port numbers..?
I have to OC4J installed on my machine on different hard disk drives....
I want to be able to run both the server simultaneously..?
is it possible ..it yes then how..?
for that i have changed the port number of one server...
but when i am trying to start the other server with different port number..it says that JVM -Bind already...
Is there any clues...?
Nilesh GIn the config directory:
default-web-site.xml: Change the port the HTTP listener listens on
jms.xml: Change the port the JMS service listens on
rmi.xml: Change the port the ORMI listener listens on.
Or, you can add another web-site.xml file, and deploy your applications to 1 server, and bind the web applications to the different web sites. This way you only have to deploy your applications to 1 place.

CSS 11501 ftp server setup problem using non-standard port
Dear Expert,
we would like to setup FTP server over CSS where our member sever use non-std-port to open both control/data channel (i.e. 6370 as ctrl and 6369 as data this case.) but seems we only get Passive mode FTP mode work only but not for Active mode FTP case for data channel establishement for server back to client...is there any professional advise can help on this case...? here is our setup info FYI

What we can notice is seems the data port connection is fail to open for server back to client....for our general sense..... the flow expected should be:
TCP session A -- Client:1234 --> VIP:21 --> member svr:6370
TCP session B -- Client: 5678 <--> VIP:20 <--> member Svr: 6379 [on demand generated between server/client]
but we can only see session B fail to setup when client side access VIP site on CSS..even we try to put the most standard case as below
TCP session A -- Client:1234 --> VIP:21 --> member svr:21
TCP session B -- Client: 5678 <--> VIP:20 <--> member Svr: 20
we still unable to make the Active mode FTP access work either...hence we got no idea on how CSS handle FTP access when it involve services over multiple tcp ports..
and from CSS xlate view...the problem is we can only see what NAT IP that used in CSS connect to client...but no way to confirm for which port for VIP using outgoing to client. neither it is dropped by CSS..nor it is never setup from VIP to Client side. -
Hi Everyone,
I have got the Cards (home made 8 bit and 16 bit ) plug in at slot ISA my PC (I am using the commands inport and outport (addressed with 318-31A Hex) in C language to access very good). This now,I want to use LabVIEW language to access data directly to Port at my the Cards. In LabVIEW, Can I access data to port using the In port.vi and Out port.vi located in the Advance?
My English is poor, you don't laugh when you read it.
Thank you a lot.SachaE wrote:

Are you talking about physical memory access here? If so that is
something entirely different. The Intel x86 architecture uses a separate
IO address range which is entirely separate from memory space.
And at least up to the first Pentium models it was definitely never
possible to address more than 16 bits for IO address space.
This of course has gotten a little more complicated nowadays with many
PCI boards being actually mapped into memory address space instead of IO
address space. So eventhough a PCI board is more like an IO device it
often is accessed in the memory space.

I think the VIs to access physical memory addresses were different than
the ones to access IO addresses. And yes it is definitely not a good
idea to have an application poke into physical memory as it could
completely screw the system to the point where you couldn't start it
anymore. Also IO devices mapped into memory address space are almost
always typically plug and play devices, so their address is not really
fixed and you need to do quite some more work on OS level to enumerate
your hardware and find the resources used before trying to access it.
This is something not really suited to try to do in LabVIEW and
therefore should be at least implemented as DLL but in fact anything but
a device driver is a very bad kludge.

Any suggestions,
Thank you in advance,Just to help someone who has the same issue.
I found this on the web site:
When the server receives a DHCPREQUEST from a client in the RENEWING (or REBINDING) state, it normally grants the renewal only if the client has an unexpired lease with this server. Otherwise the server ignores the request; the server to which the client is bound should answer the client. (The only exception is normally that if a server is sure the IP address the client is asking for is inappropriate for the client, the server will send a DHCPNAK, which forces the client back to the INIT state.)
Thank you anyway -

we are using the G Web Server with LabVIEW on a WinNT 4 machine. Up to now these works fine. Therefore I would recommend you to choose a more stable OS.
Maybe you can try to programmatically restart the server every 2 days. Within LabVIEW you would do this by running "HTTP Server Control.vi". Unfortunatly all connections will be closed, thus be aware of that!
Hope that helps

Data acquisition of CV7-V wind sensor under labview using NI 9403
hello
I want to measure a numeric type RS232 signal at the output of a CV7-V wind sensor (attached PDF file)
I used the module CDAQ 9191 and NI 9403 under NI MAX and I got the result on the attached figure
how I can retrieve the information from this sensor under labview using CDAQ 9191 and 9403 Module

CV7-V_OM_GB_150910.pdf 499 KBIf it's an RS-232 Serial Device - why don't you use a serial port instead? That way you can just read the data using simple serial functions.
If you have to use a digital I/O device - then you will need to convert the signal into digital data (using the timing information of the RS-232 device) and then convert it into the numeric data output by the device. It's not something I've ever tried to do but have a look at the digital waveform functions in LabVIEW as that might help you convert the analogue signal into binary data which you can then convert into a string.

Can java mail be used for distributed exchange server?
H,
I am trying to connect to MS Exchange Server to read my mails using Java Mail API.
I have a questions about using it with Exchange server.
We have 6-7 exchange servers in our company and different users have mailboxes on different servers. My internet mail application will be used by everybody in the company.
But while connecting to exchange server using java mail I can only cnnnect to one server and port. What happens when user mailbox is not on that server. How can I use javamail in this scenario where user mailboxes are on separate servers??
Thanks
[email protected]You said that you can connect to Exchange server my you help me with this because i cant connect to Exchange server, mayby you can post me a code example? Thanks

Comcast claims that are not blocking ports. Technically from what I understand they are not. They just don't recongnize the iCloud server address on their DNS. An Apple Genius gave me a "free access DNS" which they use in the Oakrigde store to sync to iCloud. It works great in the store with my computer and iPhone but not at home. After a comversation with an IT person in Germany he explained that due to the limited number of ports available and the almost infitinite appetite for ports companies often choose to manage the number of ports avialable for use by their customers. What did work for me was to use a secure proxy server with secure encoding. It works great! However as the cloud does seem to go down from time to time I would prefer to also have the USB cable option for syncing.
This does not make sense. If comcast blocked iCloud.com there would be millions of posts here about it, as comcast is one of the largest ISPs in the US. Most likely you have DNS settings messed up in your router or your computer. Ports and DNS have nothing to do with each other. A "port" is just part of a complete URL. Using a port does not have any affect on the ISP, who doesn't even see the port in the packet.

If I were to guess, I'd guess that your filename is invalid. How about removing all special characters (spaces, brackets, etc.) from the device name. Also, make sure your form was compiled for HTML.
I haven't actually used the HTML driver, but these are general things you should do if you have trouble with any Central driver.

Using the Embedded Web Server To Connect A Wireless Printer To Your Network
AKA:No Wireless Setup Wizard Button, which would be way easier.
The Prelude
Some entry level printers do not offer a 'Wireless Setup Wizard' button, or a menu option that is accessible from the front of the printer. Printers that do not offer this luxury option, can still be easily configured to communicate to your router if you have a Mac or Windows PC.
You still may have an easy option to get your network settings configured in your printer, if your router supports WPS. I personally do not like to use WPS as it can bring its own frustrations. WPS is not within the scope of this document.
This document is geared towards the last available option, and in my opinion the best option. It can however be the most involved option. I am referring to using the Embedded Web Server (EWS). Most modern network capable HP Printers have a setting page that can be accessed from a web browser. The process is rather simple, but many confusing hiccups can occur, and that is what I hope to prepare you for. There will be variances for different printers. I am using my experience with consumer printers that have been around the last few years.
First, do not get overexcited about this document: Accessing the HP Embedded Web Server. Don't get me wrong, it is a great document, it's just that the instructions, while accurate, will not work until your printer is configured to connect to your network first. We will revisit this later however.
Seatbelts Please
The first thing we need to do, is have the printer broadcast its own network, sometimes referred to as AdHoc, sometimes referred to as Auto Wireless Connect. To do this, you need to navigate the menu system of the printer, and find the option to reset the network settings, network defaults or something similar. If your printer has the Wireless Direct feature you won't need to reset the network settings, but this is a perfect time to make sure Wireless Direct is turned on. If you aren't using Wireless Direct, the timer starts. Generally speaking, for the next two hours, the printer will broadcast an 'HP Setup' network, or have some variation of the printers name listed in available wireless networks. Regardless you should have plenty of time, if you read it all first and then went throught the steps.
*Preparation:
Here is where you want to use your favorite device, one capable of seeing 2.4ghz networks. Android phone, Apple iPad, Chromebook, Windows or Mac Notebook that you decided not to install the printer software on. Any of these devices will work. Apple iOS devices required a bit of coddling, as Safari doesn't work well with the EWS Wireless Setup Wizard.
Do you know your network SSID? What about the passphrase, passkey or whatever the security word is called?
If you didn't set it up, and just started using it when the internet guy installed it, then there is probably a sticker on the router with that information. If you still can't find it, call your ISP, router manufacturer or favorite family member for help to find that information (If you use a family member, remember to buy them something nice on the next gift giving holiday in your region).
*Apple iOS specific, device preparation:
1. You will save yourself a lot of frustration by downloading the Chrome Browser for iOS now. Go ahead, I will wait...
If you are installing Chrome for the first time, when it completes the install, open it, and get passed the greeting and tutorial before continuing.
2. You need to forget your home network connection when you are done with step 1. Just hold down on your home network in the wireless networks list, and 'Forget' the connection (or find the arrow that leads to the same option). If you do not take this step, it will reconnect to the home network once you run the Wireless Setup Wizard, causing you to have to back track.
3. Be aware, when you connect to your printer's network, that it may appear to not connect (ie. spinning wheel, no confirmation) to the printer. This is a known behavior. Just close the wireless settings, and proceed as normal.
Begin The Journey
Open up the wireless section of your device and look in the list of available networks and tell it to connect to the HP printer network. The SSID will usually start with HP, and may have the printer model or the word SETUP in the name. Once you are connected (see "Apple iOS specific, device preparation #3 if you are using iOS), it is time to open your browser, preferably the Chrome browser when at all possible. In the address bar type 192.168.223.1 and press go or hit enter. I use the colloquialism 'hit' when I just mean 'press' again, sorry for the redudancy.
If all is well, you should see a web page that should refer to your printer. Now is the time to find the 'Wireless Setup Wizard' button. Most printers should have it here on the main page of the EWS. Just take your time, it may not be obvious at first. Once you press it, the setup process will begin. Follow the instructions. It should see a list of detected wireless networks, and you can select your home network. Then if it requires a password, it will prompt for you to enter it. At the end of the Wizard, it might say something about not being able to test it, or show a page cannot be displayed screen. This is OK. This means the printer is now talking to your router and not your device in your hand.
Proof Of Concept
You can now tell your device to scan and connect back to your normal home network. Once you connect, you can verify if you can see your printer. Keep in mind, with dual band routers, that the printers will typically only be visible on the 2.4GHZ network, so your device should also connect to that network as well for testing. Once connected, now we need to find out what IP Address the printer has. Remember the document I started with “Accessing the HP Embedded Web Server”. It now is relevant, and you can complete those instructions to make sure you can see your printer on the same network. If your device can enter the printers EWS with its new IP, then you have officially connected your printer to your network. Also your printers wireless light should be solid, indicating communication.
If It Worked
Now the fun begins. If you are setting up ePrint, and if there is no option to configure ePrint from the front panel, find the Web Services tab, and proceed with that process. If you are setting it up to a Chomebook, you still need to setup ePrint (if it is an ePrinter) before configuring Cloudprint... but that's another document.
I hope I have not missed any small detail that pertains to your configuration that made this hard to follow. Any comments would be welcomed to improve this for future use.
TwoPointOh

Please click “Accept as Solution ” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
Click the “Kudos, Thumbs Up" on the bottom to say “Thanks” for helping! That printer also has a USB port why don't you connect it using that port?
If you insist on using ethernet, Mac OS X can create two network connections at the same time. On the iMac you can configure one of the network connections to be wireless and the other to be wired using the ethernet port.
Since you already have a wireless network configured and connecting to your AirPort Extreme for Internet access all you need to do is plug in an ethernet cable from your iMac directly to your printer and configure them to use self-assigned IP addresses. Self-assigned IP addresses take the form of 169.xxx.xxx.xxx and are used in this configuration to avoid any conflicts with your other network. You have to configure the iMac and the printer to each have a unique IP address in the self-assigned range, just make each of the last group of numbers in the IP address different, and then the iMac should be able to print to the printer.
Note that when you configure the Imac and printer this way no other network devices will be able to print -
Hi Team ,
We are planning 11.2.0.1 Grid infra rolling upgrade to 11.2.0.2 with out any downtime.
But while up gradation due to default scan port 1521 , 11.2.0.1 databases are not able to connect (remote connections)
We are using 1900 port for existing 11.2.0.1 grid infra scan.
While up gradation it is taking default port of 1521 insted of existing port 1900.
Please provide the solution to use non default port while 11.2.0.2 up gradation.
After upgrade the status as below.
grdoratst104:/apps/grid/grdhome:+ASM4> srvctl config scan_listener
SCAN Listener LISTENER_SCAN1 exists. Port: TCP:1521
SCAN Listener LISTENER_SCAN2 exists. Port: TCP:1521
SCAN Listener LISTENER_SCAN3 exists. Port: TCP:1521
Here I was getting TNS:no Listener errors from the client connections.
I have modifyed the scan port then it is working fine.
grdoratst104:/apps/grid/grdhome:+ASM4> srvctl modify scan_listener -p TCP:1800
grdoratst104:/apps/grid/grdhome:+ASM4> srvctl config scan_listener
SCAN Listener LISTENER_SCAN1 exists. Port: TCP:1800
SCAN Listener LISTENER_SCAN2 exists. Port: TCP:1800
SCAN Listener LISTENER_SCAN3 exists. Port: TCP:1800
grdoratst104:/apps/grid/grdhome:+ASM4>
Here the problem is we need to do the grid infra upgrade with out downtime, but due this default port issue clients are not able to connect to the database.
Thanks

Edited by: user12032334 on May 31, 2011 11:46 AMWhy are you using a non default port? It does not improve security. It makes network management more complex. And causes the type of issues that you are facing now.
So before changing defaults, make sure that your reasons are technically sound. And using port 1900 when 1521 is available, is not technically sound by any means.
As for addressing the problem you have created for yourself by mucking around with port numbers. Use a NAT firewall (on each RAC node) to rewrite packets headers received on port 1900 and send these to the server's port 1521 instead (on the VIP or static IP as required).
This can be fairly easily done using iptables if your o/s is Linux. You need to:
a) create a pre-routing NAT rule
b) create a post-routing NAT rule
c) create a forwarding filter rule for port 1900/tcp
d) create an input filter rule to accept traffic on 1900/tcp -
URGENT! PLS HELP... using JAMES as mail server
hi, first of all... happy new year to everyone...
i am currently developing a web based application and one of the component in the system is using JAMES as mail server. I am done some modification in config.xml in JAMES, now the problem is i can only send internal mails instead of external one, such as hotmail and yahoo.
The error occurs as below:-
RemoteDelivery: Exception delivering message (Mail1041375079561-0-!448616653-to-hotmail.com) - Could not connect to SMTP host: hotmail.com, port: 25
How can i send mails to hotmail and yahoo users or any other external mail?
Can anyone pls help me to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance.sounds like a network problem rather than a JAMES problem. Have you confirmed that you can ping the hotmail mail server, and then that you can "telnet" in to it on port 25?
If you have a windows machine handy, you can find out the IP address of hotmail's primary mail server by using nslookup:
C:\>nslookup
set type=MX
hotmail.comIf you don't get anything from this, it would indicate a DNS problem. Once you have the IP address, try to telnet to it on port 25:
C:\>telnet 65.54.254.129 25
Here's what I got...
220 mc1-f3.law16.hotmail.com Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service, Version: 5.0.2195.5600 ready at Wed, 1 Jan 2003 21:19:03 -0800
If you aren't able to connect, it's probably either a firewall at your end blocking outbound TCP traffic on port 25 (or possibly all ports), or a DNS issue, or some sort of routing issue with your ISP -
Naming.lookup refuses to work properly when I use a different port
Ok, here's the deal: I have an application that uses RMI. Until now it has worked wonderfully, but since a new service that "steals" port 1099 is going to be installed on the same machine, I have to update my code to start working with another port.
Nothing unfathomable, of course. Or so I thought.
I start the registry with the right port (1211) and I bind my server using the same port:
Naming.rebind("//localhost:1211/XXX", myXXX)But when I try to get a reference to that object by using Naming.lookup("//localhost:1211/XXX")I get a nasty UnknownHostException!
And here's the freakish thing: if I try this...
String[ ] list = Naming.list("//localhost:1211");
for(int i=0; i<list.length; i++) {
System.out.println(list);
XXX myObj = (XXX)Naming.lookup("//localhost:1211/XXX")
...first I get a list of the objects contained in the registry, and my "//localhost:1211/XXX" [i]is there, but then when I look it up, I get the exception that says my host 172.x.x.x (the localhost) is unknown!
I have made sure there are no unwanted blank spaces in the Strings i use for the binding and lookup. I have even tried using the very String that I receive from Naming.list, but nothing works.
Any ideas? It works like a charm when I simply eliminate ":1211" everywhere in the code. I appreciate any help I can get.Do you really get the exception on the lookup or when using the stub? Can you post the full exception text and stack trace?

WLC CT2504: Interface IP can not be used as internal DHCP server IP
Hello all,
I've got a new CT2504 controller with software version 7.0.220.0
Regarding to
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6366/products_tech_note09186a0080af5d13.shtml
I've tried to configure the internal DHCP on a dynamic-interface, but this is not possible:
(Cisco Controller) >config interface dhcp dynamic-interface vlan401 primary 172.16.x.3
vlan401 Interface IP can not be used as internal DHCP server IP
It works, if I use another IP (aka DHCP server) in the same subnet or in another subnet. It works also for the management interface.
(Cisco Controller) >show interface detailed management
Interface Name................................... management
MAC Address...................................... d0:c2:82:xx:xx:xx
IP Address....................................... 10.2.x.135

(Cisco Controller) >show dhcp summary

intern Yes 172.16.x.20 -> 172.16.x.30
(Cisco Controller) >show dhcp proxy
DHCP Proxy Behaviour: enabled
Has somebody an explanation for this issue?
Thanks in advance,
Regard,
RobertYou can use the internal dhcp, but you need to set the primary dhcp as the management ip. So in your dynamic interface, your primary dhcp is configure with the wlc management ip address. Dhcp proxy also needs to be enabled and is enabled by default.
Thanks,
Scott Fella
