Filename of Attachment in Mail

Hi,
We have a scenario in which a mail with body and attachment (an excel sheet) has to be sent.
We have configured MessageTransformBean and PayloadSwapBean to manage this. However, we are getting both files as attachments and there is no mail body.
Moreover, we would also like to have filename with timestamp attached to it.
Please provide your inputs at the earliest. Helpful answers would be surely awarded with points.

File attachment in mail missing

I am using iphone to read my corporate emails. I received an email with attachment 8MB and was asked to download full message. Once I downloaded the full message, the attachment was missing and a text message (See attached file: filename.zip) was replaced. If I forward the email, the recipient did not received the attachment, even if I chose Include attachment option. Where did the attachment goes? How do I solved this problem?

The content type of the Pdf has to be identified, in order to conver the pdf successfully, You need to perform the conversion usign the PayloadSwapBean the Module tab. You use this when you want to receive attachment using Mail adapter. You need to configure few steps in Module Configuration
There you need to mention your MIME header paramenters Content-Type, Content-Description.
How this can be configured and how process with PayloadSwapBean check the below link

Require PDF File attachment in Mail

Hi Experts,
I am doing the Proxy-XI-Mail scenario. I am sending the Mail related data like Content, Content_Type from R/3 to XI and configured the Mail receiver adapter.
R/3 coding:-
G_ALERT_INPUT-MT_R3REQUEST_MAIL_SEND-MAIL-CONTENT_TYPE = 'application/pdf;name="filename.pdf"'

and then calling the client proxy

Keep attachment option is also selected.
I am geeting the Filename.pdf in mail as attachment.
Problem is:- I am not able to open the attached PDF File and error is:- 'Adobe Reader could not open filename,pdf because it is either not a supported file type ot because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded'
I think some conversions may be required to convert the XML Payload data into PDF file format for the Mail receiver adapter.

Sending PDF attachment in mail

My requirement is to send PDF as attachment in mail. Also require to password protect it. I've searced a lot in the forums and found many threads, but no solid solution... Has anyone worked on it lately, and found any solution? Thanks in advance.

PDF attached in Mail changes suffix

This is a really strange problem. When sending PDF files attached per Mail, the suffix will be automatically changed from .pdf into .pdf0, .pdff and so on. It happens randomly. What can be done here, has someone observed the same issue in his Mails?!

I have not experienced the problem, but others have. It appears to relate to special characters (such as umlauts) that are used in the filename - combined with a mail format that is text only.

Solutions thus appear to be:
1) Avoid special characters in filenames (not practical in some languages), or
2) Use HTML elements in every email (the preference alone is not enough), or
3) Use a program other than Mail for sending emails.

Currently the w_htmldata informations are stored in the form of RAW 1024 characters.
Using the below mentioned FM the attachment information i am passing through
       contents_txt               = it_message
parameters. The contents_txt support only 255 characters. But the smartforms returns RAW 1024 characters. When the HTML attachment is not showning the content properly and the data displays is misaligned. Kindly give me the suggestion how to overcome this issue !

Have you upgraded to Yosemite? Then you could send the attachment using Mail Drop.
You can use Mail Drop to send files that exceed the maximum size allowed by the provider of your email account. Mail Drop uploads the large attachments to iCloud, where they’re encrypted and stored for up to 30 days.
If you have an iCloud account and you’re signed in to iCloud when you click Send, Mail automatically sends the attachments using Mail Drop. Mail Drop attachments don’t count against your iCloud storage.

Problem in Sending .txt as an attachment to mail

Dear Experts,
I am working on a file to mail scenario. I have searched a lot in sdn, but could not locate the exact answer for the same.
I am using file adapter to pick up a txt file from a location and supposed to send this as an attachment to mail(in box).
My scenario is ready, have configured the IR and ID. there are only 5 fields at the sender side, have done one to one mapping at the receiver side.
question is
1) Do I have to use content conversion at the sender side in order to read the file in XI or....
2) Can i send the payload of the message as an attachment? Do i have to configure anything else for the same for eg
3) where i have to configure my sender and receiver, has to be in mail adapter or in xml payload?
Kindly provide your valuable suggestions or idea to proceed , as i am confused how to proceed wz the same.

You can send the payload of a message as a attachment.
I hope u dont want to send the XML structure as a attachment... In receiver...first u have to convert the XML to a .txt file and then
u need to send this .txt as a attachment..
If this is ur requirement u can do it by using the inbuilt EJB's and a Mail adapter in receiver.
The inbuilt bean is MessageTransformationBean... which can convert a XML structure a Text file.
and then u have to pass it to Mail adapter... Please keep in mind the sequence of processing.

U need to configure both sender and receiver. Sender is a file adapter and receiver is a Mail adapter.
Decide first u want to use mail package or not..
For ur scenario u can do both ways using Payload or XIALL..

The mail app will not display fillable form fields in PDF files that can be seen in real PDF apps. I say real PDF apps because the form fields in PDF apps will not appear in the iBooks app either. IMO, iBooks is not a real PDF app.
So, I would say that the mail app cannot differentiate between hidden and non hidden items

File attachement in mail adapter

Hi ,
I need to send users an error report which I have captured in the form of a file. Is it possible to attach this file as an attachement via mail adapter. I have been reading that the payload can be sent as attachment by specifying the interface namespace and interface name. But my requirement is to trigger the mail once the file has been completely written and not for every message. The reason being I could have 3000 records in the file and I dont want to send 3000 MAILS out but just 1 mail for the entire 3000 records...

I hope, I understand you right.
When you use the file-adapter for sending the file, you can without mapping send this file out to a mail receiver as attachment, there is nothing special to do.

Hi,
For sending the ALV output as PDF attachment, you can create a spool (proper page size in print parameters) and convert the spool to PDF using the FM CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF and then send the same as attachment in mail.
For send the data as HTML attachment, try the below FMs
WWW_ITAB_TO_HTML_HEADERS & WWW_ITAB_TO_HTML_LAYOUT to create the HTML layout
WWW_ITAB_TO_HTML to create the HTML for the actual data.

Attachment in mail shrinks

Hello,
When I go to place an attachment in Mail, a image or jpg, it "shrinks" the size of the file. I have a jpg which is 2048 x 1536 pixels and approx 1MB in file size but when I place it in an email using apple Mail, the file size shrinks down to 320 x 240 pixels and 156KB. There must be a setting or preference or something that is doing this? I've tried to find it but can/t...any help is much appreciated!

Part of what you are seeing is deceptive and part may be the settings.
After dragging the image to the email message, highlight the image and look down in the lower right of the message frame. You should see a little drop-down menu labeled "Image Size". If it says anything other than "Actual size" then it *+is being reduced.+*
But if it says "Actual Size" then what is sent will be full size, even though it does not appear that way within the message. When the recipient downloads the image it will be delivered full size. You can test this by sending yourself the image set to "Actual Size". Alternatively, you can CTRL-Click the image and select "Quick Look Attachment" then click the opposing arrows to expand it full screen. You will see that the image is intact and not pixilated. If the image was being reduced, a full screen Quick Look would show it pixilated.

I have requirement where I need to send excel sheet as attachment in mail. I could do it by using FM SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1. But, I am not able to format the excel sheet before sending.
I need to make heading bold, fix column width and wrap text in some cells, and send the mail.
Pls help me with your suggestions.
