Filesize [again]

I am posting this again. Besides the fact that it took me
bloody ages to write the first time, I thought it would concern
more than a few users. Maybe there's just not enough people using
it yet?
It is in response to David's article at
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/captivate/articles/filesize.html.
I'm just after a little more information than what he gave. If
anyone think I should, or want to themselves point David to this
post, please let me know. Truth is he probably doesn;t have time,
but it would make quite a comprehensive list of answers for us
beginners:
1. Minimize file size by reducing the recording area in
Captivate:
Sure, but what is the relationship between recording area and
file size? I know there's a relationship between total number of
pixels x bytes per pixel, but there must be more to it than that.
2. Reduce the amount of background noise;
OK - easily done.
3. Reduce the color gradients in your recording area:
How much does this really affect the final size? Is it closer
to .05% reduction or 50% reduction? I can see how this may be
appropriate for simple slideshows, but what if the animations are
graphically intensive, do the color gradients really matter then?
Is this point outdated with the increasing complexity of
animations?
4. When recording in "Full Motion" format, Captivate converts
the recording from AVI format to static screen shots. This
increases the overall file size more than a traditional
recording:
Again, in producing a thoroughly enthralling animation, with
3D graphics and voiceovers, etc, full motion is a necessity. If the
Full Motion Recording options (which is only briefly mentioned in
the demonstration) are altered, is there a proven relationship
between all the settings (Smoother Movie/Video Quality/Video Color
Mode) and the final size of that recording?
5. Remove any extra slides that do not add any value to the
presentation:
Sounds like a sensible idea. Is there anywhere where we can
see the size of an actual slide?
6. If you insert large images, expect your Captivate file size
to grow more than if you insert small images:
Like point 1, what's the magic formula? Even a ballpark
figure would help. David mentions SWF files and the file size
should increase only by about the same amount as the inserted SWF
file. That's good stuff - a tangible amount.
7. On the Start and End tab:
Okay, but I'm definitely going to need those. Again is there
anywhere where we can find out how big they are?
8. Advanced movie compression: Select this option to compress
slide data shared between slides, thereby reducing overall file
size:
Sweet, consider it done. How much did it just save me?
9. Compress compiled SWF file: Do not deselect this option.
I won't. In fact I am not sure why it's even an option!
10. Include Breeze metadata: This option, which is selected by
default, increases the size of the project. If you are not going to
use the project with Macromedia Breeze, deselect the option to
decrease the size of the finished project file (SWF). However, if
there is the possibility that the output file (SWF) may be used in
Breeze, it is best to select this option.
Bit of a crap shoot at this stage. If I knew just how much I
was saving in the file size, I would be better informed to know
whether to include it or not.
11. 508 compliance: Publishing 508-compliant output increases
your file size. If audience analysis concludes that are no learners
with disabilities that need to access your content—or if you
are not otherwise required to comply with Section 508 government
regulations—you can safely turn off 508 support.
C'mon sevens! Again if only I knew the real impact on my
filesize, I would know whether to just leave it checked, just in
case it will one day be needed.
12. Frames per second: The default setting is 30 Flash frames
per second (fps) and this is appropriate in most cases. Note:
Decreasing the number of frames per second does not significantly
decrease the size of your Captivate project and therefore is not
recommended. For example, decreasing the fps rate by half does not
halve the file size. Also, reducing the fame rate of Captivate is
not the same as reducing the frame rate of an AVI. Lowering the
frame rate of an AVI removes static images from the file, which
reduces its size. Removing a single frame from a Captivate project
where no change takes place does not reduce the file size.
Mine defaults to 10 fps, is that bad? Now I'm confused! So
what is the best frame rate, and just how much does it reduce the
file size when changed?
13. Movie background color: Depending upon the type of slide and
how you took screen shots, the background color might not appear on
all slides. Double-click the color box to open the color picker,
and select a new color. Remember that using a bright background
color will increase the file size.
Does this ~really~ matter if I have 3D Virtual models and
constant audio? Or is it like worrying about if the temperature in
Antarctica is 70 below or 71 below?
14. JPEG image quality: Adjust this setting depending upon the
images used in your movie. Lowering your image quality to as low as
50% (from the default 75%) is often not noticeable to the naked
eye. Higher percentage values allow for very high quality images.
Of course, this also increases file size.
Okay, but numbers would be good again.
15. Play tap audio for recorded typing when movie is generated:
This option plays tapping sounds in the final movie whenever keys
are pressed during recording. Including this option adds a small
audio file to your project and does increase the file size, but
only by a small amount.
No sure how much they'll hear the taps with me talking over
them the whole way through it, but I can turn them off. I think a
lot of people finding them slightly annoying anyway, but how much
did I just gain with that happy move?
16. Including a playback control bar increases the file size by
a small amount. If your users do not need a playback
control—as is often the case with simulations and
quizzes—select None from the menu.
Well they are going to need to play these things back
somehow, but I may have that created separately. What's the average
size of a playback control bar anyway? And how does You Tube get
away with all this stuff?
I am not trying to be cynical, I'm really not, but I am
surprised that this has been raised and addressed by
Macromedia/Adobe already. I would assume that as users develop more
engaging and interactive content, these will become more important.
Is there any hope or support for someone like myself, who wants to
know every shortcut there is in order to deliver the best possible
animations?
As always, any help from any of the experts here, would be
gratefully received!
Thanks and I look forward to your replies.
Cheers,
spritc.

Hi spritc
Maybe there's just not enough people using it yet?
I seriously doubt this is the case. There are more and more
folks using Captivate each day. Just based on the forum activity
alone, we are seeing what I feel is a pretty significant and
growing user base. I say this because I conduct Captivate classes.
During each class I mention the Adobe support forums. And I'm
totally shocked at the fact that almost nobody so far has
found/used them! This tells me that even though I'm seeing an
increase in new users here, there are a vast amount that haven't
yet discovered this area.
...If anyone think I should, or want to themselves point David
to this post...
Pointing David to this post won't do anything. Fact is, he
has moved on and now works for the company that has Articulate.
1. Minimize file size by reducing the recording area in
Captivate:
Sure, but what is the relationship between recording area and
file size? I know there's a relationship between total number of
pixels x bytes per pixel, but there must be more to it than
that.
Think about it this way. If I create a simple bitmap image
using Microsoft Paint, and I size that image to be 640 pixels wide
by 480 pixels tall, I've created something that uses 307,200
pixels. If I did the same thing at 1024 pixels wide by 768 pixels
tall, that number increases to 786,432. That's a significant
difference. I just created a stark white image at each of those
resolutions and saw the 640x480 resulted in a file sized at 901 kb.
The same file at 1024x768 resulted in 2,305 kb. So hopefully this
can better illustrate why this bit is important. Probably the
single most important factor to consider.
5. Remove any extra slides that do not add any value to the
presentation:
Sounds like a sensible idea. Is there anywhere where we can
see the size of an actual slide?
Indeed there is. If you click View > Bandwidth Analysis...
you should see a dialog labeled Bandwidth Monitor. This dialog has
three tabs. One tab (normally the one presented as the default tab)
is labeled Slide Summary. I believe this tab has the information
you are seeking.
I'm unaware of any "magic formula" here. But consider what I
offered in the first bit where I advised of the
pixel/resolution/end resulting size.
7. On the Start and End tab:
Okay, but I'm definitely going to need those. Again is there
anywhere where we can find out how big they are?
This one looks like something got lost during copy/paste. I'm
not sure what you are looking for here.
8. Advanced movie compression: Select this option to compress
slide data shared between slides, thereby reducing overall file
size:
Sweet, consider it done. How much did it just save me?
Well, I'm guessing the savings would vary from project to
project. For example, if your entire movie consisted of recording
mostly the same application and not much is changing from screen to
screen save mouse movement and captions, the savings could be
significant. But if the movie is constantly changing, the savings
may be negligible at best. In other words, your mileage may vary.
However, your question of exactly how much does it save me strikes
me as odd. I would think the fact you are reading the article is an
indication that you apparently have some concerns with regards to
file sizes. So I'm confused as to why you want to know the exact
amount it will save you. Even if it's a small amount, it's better
than nothing.
9. Compress compiled SWF file: Do not deselect this option.
I won't. In fact I am not sure why it's even an option!
I've seen posts where projects refuse to compile.
DE-selecting these options can help in these cases because
something about the mix of elements in those projects is causing
Captivate to gag.
I think the larger question with this one is to ask:
Are you using Breeze? If no, then turn it off. If yes, leave
it selected.
11. 508 compliance: Publishing 508-compliant output increases
your file size.
Again, the larger question here is
Are you creating output that needs to be 508 compliant? If
not, turn it off. If so, leave it selected. However, making a
project 508 compliant involves much much more than simply selecting
this check box and calling it good.
The default frame rate for Captivate is 30 Frames per second.
The fact yours is 10 indicates that at some point you elected to
change it. Not necessarily bad, but could result in a jerkier
movie. As Captivate defaults to 30, I'm going to crawl out here on
this shaky limb and suggest that it's probably what the developers
feel is the "best".
Most of the time it's like your Antarctica analogy. This is
because most of the time we are recording applications that consume
the entire recording area. I think what David means here is that if
you have perhaps a blank movie, if you have a different color used
on each slide, the size will increase as a result.
I'm skipping the rest of this to get to something you later
say:
I am not trying to be cynical, I'm really not, but I am
surprised that this has been raised and addressed by
Macromedia/Adobe already. I would assume that as users develop more
engaging and interactive content, these will become more important.
Is there any hope or support for someone like myself, who wants to
know every shortcut there is in order to deliver the best possible
animations?
Sorry, but the tenor of your responses certainly exude a
cynical view. Keep in mind that the only player here is now Adobe.
They swallowed Macromedia, so it is no more.
I think David's document was intended to be used in order to
know which areas you should look at or consider when you are
concerned about file size. It's intended to be a list of places to
possibly make tweaks.
The bottom line is that making all or some of the changes
recommended may help dramatically for one type of project and maybe
not at all for other types. As Captivate is an application that can
be used to create almost anything, it's a bit like asking Kodak
just why their digital cameras include the leaves on the trees when
you take the picture. After all, almost everyone is taking pictures
these days and not everyone wants leaves in their pictures.
Sincerely... Rick

  • Copying multiple objects-file getting huge

    Hello,
    First of all im new to Illustrator.  Im working on a project for print that has become rather huge.  Im creating map of a disc golf course and decided to try it out in Illustrator instead of photoshop thinking I can always increase the print size without losing quality if need be.  I started with a few basic items on multiple layers for grass, lakes, buildings, etc.  and then began to create a graphic that I could copy multiple times throughout the image to represent trees.  Everything went well at first but the file size has become so huge and my computer reduced to a crawl.  Im only about halfway done now and dont know what I can do to finish the project.  Questions:
    - Is there a more efficient way to copy and paste a vector graphic? Or maybe reduce the load of each of these trees?  Right now they are made with the pen tool and some shading with paintbrush.
    - My other thought is maybe break my drawing into 4 tiles and work or each seperate and maybe join in photoshop later.  Is there any way to select and save portions of the image and preserve the layers so I can continue working with the image as 4 seperate files?
    - If I do seperate them what would be the best method to rejoin for print.  There may be a need to print this at 2x3 feet.  Im sure if I did it in Photoshop I may run into a huge filesize again just to get a good quality image for a 2x3.
    heres a shot from early on to give you an idea
    Thanks,
    Brad

    If you are bringing artwork from Photoshop into Illustrator, save the artwork as a PSD and use File > Place to import it, making sure that Link is checked in the File dialogue.
    If you intend to use an object or image several times, consider making it a Symbol. Just click the New Symbol button at the bottom of the Symbols panel. If you are using a placed image, fist click on Embed in the Control panel at the top of the screen before making the symbol. Artwork used for symbols is stored only once in the Illustrator file.
    If you don’t need to import the Illustrator file into another program later, such as InDesign, then do a Save As and turn off the Create PDF Compatible File. With the option on Illustrator saves both the editable Illustrator file and a high resolution PDF with all artwork embedded. With the option off files can be dramatically smaller.

  • No Surround bounce: "Filesize exceeds 2 GB" - WHAT ???

    Hi 2 all,
    I will repeat a post that I found closed in the discussions because I just came across this problem and looking for help.

    Logic Surround Bounce File Size Limitation
    Posted: Dec 5, 2005 7:24 PM
    Does anyone know why the magnificent Apple Logic 7 Pro isn't able >anymore to bounce a 5.1 surround file group if the resulting files exceed >the ridicolous size of 2GB?
    I find this situationa a real drag!!!
    If anyone uses Surround it is highly possible that he will work with Cinema >or Home Video, in which a typical movie duration is often at least 90 >minutes long. How can I bounce 6 Aiff 16bit 48KHz tracks 90 min long each >not exceeding 2GB????
    Is there a well hidden preference panel where this limitation can be disbled >or is this the last of a long boring and disppointing list of downsides >derived from the migration of Logic from Emagic to Apple?
    Any Help is highly appreciated.
    Moreover in the Bounce dialog Logic miscalculates the filesize that it is complaining about.
    When I try to bounce my project that's about 90 minutes it will show that the filesize will be 6.6GB at 24bit or 4.4GB at 16bit. Both is obviously wrong.
    And even if it was true it is the accumulated file size of all 6 tracks. So a single file wouldn't even exceed 2GB.
    What kind of sh** is this again ???
    Does this never stop ??
    Can we (Logic) pro's please get back in a supported working state as it was with emagic ?
    Does no one ever check essentials before releasing a software version at Apple ?
    Gerhard, please DO something !!!
    Apart from working on iLogic a.k.a. GarageBand.
    Logic surround capabilities are much more important than stupid podcasting ducker-compatibility from GarageBand !!
    Already lost 2 days because of unstable movie sync in Logic until I was able to get down to the problem - again Apple's fault -
    ( http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=2094730#2094730 )
    and now that I'm finished with the mix I can't get it exported ???
    This is just unbelievable.

    Linking the other posts you have found may help to show that others are having this problem, and that the problem makes your work very difficult.
    Point out that it is 2GB limitation on the temp/bounce file's sum and not the actual destination files.
    Mentioning the length is effectively divided by the number of channels in the bounce may help.

  • Same filesize no matter what bitrate I choose

    Hello everyone.
    So, I just noticed this problem. It doesn't really matter what bitrate I choose (Only matters if I go below 70) I get almost the EXACT same file size and quilty.
    Here are my export settings.
    I have a YouTube channel and I upload videos everyday so I want them to be in the best quality possible. This has always worked for until recently. If I export the same video with a bitrate of 300 and then again with a bitrate of 200, the filesize difference is usually about 1MB.
    This is starting to annoy me a lot because if I check the videos bitrate after I've exported it, it is NOWHERE NEAR 300. For some reason it chooses to render at a bitrate of 76-80 no matter what.
    Here is a picture of my timeline:
    I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro CC on a Windows 7 PC.
    PC SPECS:
    GPU: GIGABYTE GTX 670 4GB
    CPU: Intel i7-3770k @3.5Ghz (Overlocked to 4.1Ghz)
    RAM: 16GB
    MB: GIGABYTE GA-Z77P-D3
    If there is anything else I need to tell you that I might've missed, please tell me so!
    I really need to get this fixed as my videos look nowhere near as good as they used to now.

    Also, please stop telling me that the bitrate is too high or something, that's not the problem.
    I get that. As I said, you have hit a wall of some kind. I am not sure that anyone ever tested about 70Mb/s. Maybe that is the wall that can't be climbed over.
    Submit a bug report. Perhaps it will be an easy fix. Perhaps they already know about it and are just waiting for enough people to complain that it becomes worth spending engineering resources on it.
    If you want to export at that high a rate, and the software seems to let you try it, the the software should actually do it. I agree.
    Although at that bitrate you might as well export to a lossless codec. What is the point of a lossy codec at a bit rate higher than the original recording? It can't be quality because you can't get higher than 70 right now, so my guess is that you have never seen a quality improvement at 300. You can't get to 300. Not really.

  • [SOLVED] Get filesize with wget

    Hi again!
    Is it possible to get filesize using the wget command?
    wget -O- http://cuddlewagon.org/somefile.txt | du -b THEFILE
    Last edited by svanberg (2009-07-29 20:56:32)

    When running
    wget --spider http://cuddlewagon.org/somefile.txt 2>&1 | grep Length
    Will give me:
    Length: 543 [text/plain]
    Can i use awk to grep only numbers? These numbers will grow in so the regular expression must take value from 1 and above.

  • [Verifying Downloads] Java-Downloaded file not same filesize as on server

    This is in the security forum, but really involves a few details:
    1.) My program downloads files from a server
    2.) I have precalculated hash md5 values and file sizes in a .cfg file in the server which is also downloaded
    3.) The md5 is calculated of the downloaded files
    4.) The filesize is checked and the md5s are checked
    I have 4 client windows computers I've tested this on. It worked on 3. The fourth has a strange behavior: About every other file would have ~ 8 additional bytes in the filesize. I have no idea where those bytes are coming from, everytime it redownloads, same filesize, albeit 8 bytes too big. Therefore, the Md5 is screwed up.
    Here's my downloading from server code:
    OutputStream out = null;
              InputStream  in = null;
              try {
                   URLConnection dat = online.openConnection();
ParentFile().mkdirs();
                   out = new FileOutputStream(local);
                   while(true){
                        try {
                             in = dat.getInputStream();
                             break;
                        } catch (ConnectException e){
                             System.err.println("Couldn't contact server!");
                   byte[] buffer = new byte[1024];
                   int numRead;
                   tsecago = System.nanoTime();
                   readbytessecAgo = -1;
                   while ((numRead = in.read(buffer)) != -1) {
                        out.write(buffer, 0, numRead);
                        readbytes += numRead;
              } catch (Exception e){
                   e.printStackTrace();
              } finally {
                   try {
                        if (in != null) {
                             in.close();
                        if (out != null) {
                             out.close();
                   } catch (IOException ioe) {
              }SO, my solution was as follows:
    1.) Download file once and check md5 & filesize
    2.) If failed, download file AGAIN and check md5 & filesize
    3.) If failed 2x, download file for last time and check filesize - if the filesize is within 40 bytes of the actual file, allow it.
    This now works on all 4 computers, and as far as I can tell the downloaded files are wholly correct.
    But this is really annoying! Why is the above download code producing 8 extra bytes?!

    Thanks for your reply, Timo, and John, the same file downloading is working fine with my Integrated weblogic server, but the same application when i deployed in my DEV server i am getting the error.
    Code which i am trying to download file is
    public void downloadCardInserts(FacesContext facesContext,
    OutputStream outputStream) throws FileNotFoundException,
    IOException {
    // Add event code here...
    UploadedFile filename=(UploadedFile)browseFile.getValue();
    String fname=filename.getFilename();
    String fname1="//bwi-wfp-v01/Apps/SCII/TEST/LOG/Cards/RENEWAL/"+fname;
    System.out.println("file name11111:"+fname1);
    FileInputStream in = new FileInputStream(new File(fname1));
    byte[] buffer = new byte[1024];
    int bytes = in.read(buffer);
    while (bytes >= 0) {
    outputStream.write(buffer, 0, bytes);
    bytes = in.read(buffer);
    }

  • Embedded images result in enormous filesize

    I'm using Illustrator to crop and arrange a number of raster images. However, I'm starting to have file management problems, because the Illustrator files quickly balloon in size.
    Example: I got public domain jpg image of a deer off the Wikimedia Commons. This jpg image is 0.35MB. I opened up a new Illustrator document, placed and embedded the image, and saved the document (with the 'pdf compatible box' unchecked). The resulting Illustrator file is 7.7MB in size, over 20 times the size of the embedded jpg image.
    I've looked around these fora, but other than the 'pdf compatible box', I couldn't find any good solutions. Could anyone suggest a workaround? Or is there some other option or preference that I could tweak? I need to use embedded images rather than links, but the files are getting out of control (>100MB).
    The screen capture at the end of this post shows the situation. In the top folder in the screencapture, the image file is highlighted, so you can see the filesize. In the lower folder in the screencapture, the Illustrator file is highlighted, so you can see it's filesize. Then you can see the open Illustrator document on the right.
    (edit: the forum software is no longer allowing me to add images, so I've put the screencapture on Google Drive here:
    https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0Hoxcl5zTEtX0d3MlFQWnhSWEU/edit?usp=sharing)
    The .ai file with the embedded image is here:
    https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0Hoxcl5zTEtMGhiOVRnMnhSVGM/edit?usp=sharing
    I'm using Illustrator CS6 64-bit, v16.0.3 on Windows 8-64.
    Any advice would be greatly appreciated,
    Tim

    My IT guy told me a few years ago that the reason Illustrator links turn to garbage is because in Illustrator the entire filename location is used in remembering the link (not a relative link as you can use with a web site) and there is a limit of 256 characters, and it's an absolute link, meaning includes the root level server/disk name. For example if you use: MyMainServer/2013ClientProjects/PrettyLongClientName/TopofthelineProductline>DeliciousFla vorline/HeightWeightSizeline/ProductFancyLongName/Labelstructure/Links, for your folder hierarchy, you have used over 150 characters already for your links, and if you think you have the modern 256 characters for your filename, think again. If you get garbage links, then you have exceeded 256 characters in your absolute filename. Keep it short!!
    Linking files is still the best, but you need short folder and file names, not too deep, and putting links in the same folder as the art are recommended.
    Sort your items in the folder by naming them, not by putting them in folders (such as, start image names with "IMG_", other categories give them their own prefix.)
    If you think you need to embed, think again. If you just need it to send a proof to the client, do one of two things: (1) take a screen shot (you have a big monitor right?) or (2) more professional, save an eps (then you will need to embed) and then process it into a pdf of the desired resolution in Distiller (then toss the eps of course). (Adjust settings of an existing setting to get the size you want and "Save As" settings if necessary in Distiller.)
    If you are sending to a commercial printer, it really shouldn't matter in most cases how big the files are, but if you're sending a proof to your own printer and don't want to hog the bandwidth, do one of two above.
    If you are worried about file size for storage, new 2T drives are about $120 and falling.
    Sorry there is no simple answer, but that's the way it goes for those of use whose first application is Illustrator, not InDesign. It would be nice if somebody at adobe took a look at harmonizing functions such as saves, links/imports, tool behavior etc., across applications.

  • What is maximum filesize of ULOG could be ?

    I have some question about ULOG filesize.
    After ULOG file is biger and bigger until 2 GB, I can not to build tuxconfig file.
    Then after I delete existing ULOG file and rebuild tuxconfig again, it's ok.
    If you have an any ideas or recommend , please advise.
    My Environment :
    Tuxedo 8.0 on Sun Solaris 8 64bits
    Thanks you

    Sutep,
    Sounds like a system limitation to the maximum size of files, i.e. not a TUXEDO
    problem. Use the Solaris ulimit command to find out the settings and change them
    - if desired.

  • I got message "OS X Yosemite failed to download" "Use the Purchases page to try again."

    i got message "OS X Yosemite failed to download" "Use the Purchases page to try again." when i download OS X Yosemite
    i got this message when i downloaded 869.7MB and i can't download more than that
    what should i do??

    This seems to be working for me. VPN using https://www.getcloak.com/ - 30 day free trial. Crossing my fingers since the download isn't done yet.
    I had a hunch that my ISP was the culprit. I cannot download anything from the appstore that had more than 1 gig filesize. Xcode, mavericks, yosemite. They would all stop and give the "failed to download....use purchase page..." error the moment the appstore starts downloading.
    None of the changing DNS, emptying of cache, on/off appstore, or restarting worked.
    I'm on an iMac, Maverick.

  • JPEG2000 Difference in Filesize betw. ID/Distiller

    Hello,
    If I use the same joboption that uses JPEG2000 for an ID-PDF, the size of the file ist about 5 to 10 times larger than the size of a PDF createt by distiller. Just for testing I placed only one 8bit TIFF/LZW in an ID document. The PDF created by ID is about 15 MB, the pdf created from a ID-PS ist about 2,5 MB. If I check the compression rate with pitstop, it says that the image in the ID-PDF is shrinked to 41%, the image in the distiller-PDF is shrinked to 8%. No other elements in the PDF.
    With any other compression format (JPG, ZIP) there is also a difference in filesize and compression rate, but minimal.
    Anyone any idea?
    Kind regards
    Martin

    I've also seen this phenomena with my own files.
    The problem seems to be that the PDF library used by InDesign and Illustrator for PDF creation is interpreting Automatic (JPEG2000) / Maximum Quality or JPEG2000 / Maximum Quality differently than does Distiller. As a result, images compressed in direct export PDF with comparable JPEG2000 settings to those used with distilled PostScript will find much larger files, albeit the compressed images are nearly lossless.
    Two workarounds:
    (1)     For exported PDF, use joboptions with more aggressive compression and hence "less quality," for example Automatic (JPEG2000) / High Quality or JPEG2000 / High Quality. I don't think you will be able to notice any difference other than file size.
    (2)     Instead of using Automatic (JPEG2000) / Maximum Quality or JPEG2000 / Maximum Quality, use Automatic (JPEG) / Maximum Quality or JPEG / Maximum Quality. Again, I don't think you will be able to notice any difference other than file size.

  • My iphone wont let me play songs that I bought from iTunes. It says "The requested URL was not found on this server" How can i play my music also my music videos again?

    I bought a few songs and music videos from iTunes, then all of a sudden it wouldn't play and would just skip to the next song. With the music videos it would do the same. Also, this message would show up " The Requested URL could not be found on this server" What does that exactly mean? And what do I need to do to play my music/videos again?

  • HT4972 After syncing my iPad2 to iTunes, I can't get it to work again.

    Ok, so I wanted to update my iPad2 in order to get the iOS5 (not even really sure what that it). So, I hooked it up to my computer, which is not the original one I had synced it to. It wanted to restart everything from the original iPad settings, so I stopped it.  I then hooked my iPad up to my original computer. When I looked at iTunes it had all my Apps, etc on it and I hit the "sync" button.  It looked like everything was syncing just fine.  But, when it was all done and I go back to using my iPad, it is saying to either: 1) set up as new iPad (which I don't want to do), 2) restore from iCloud backup (don't know how to do this) or 3) restore from ITunes backup...this is what I clicked on. I then plugged my iPad back into my computer with iTunes and started again. However, I can't get any further than this.  Nothing is happening!  Help!!!!!

    That message means that you have to restore the iPad now. Something went wrong. You need to restore the iOS software and then restore from the backup.
    Read this carefully and follow the instructions. Make sure that you restore from your backup at the end of the process. That is covered at the bottom of the support article.

  • How long does it take for the warehouse to show a phone as recieved so I can pay my final bill?  I would like to sign up for Verizon again as I am very unsatisfied with my new company but cannot until this is resolved.

    I recently switched to another competitor but would actually like to start from scratch with Verizon but cannot do so because they cannot locate my devices I mailed in to their warehouse.  I switched my whole family's accounts, 3 phones and 1 mobile hotspot, to a competitor to get a cheaper rate and unlimited data but I have not been happy with their service and would like to switch back.  The problem is when switching the first time I was told by a Verizon chat rep that I could send my Edge devices back in and would get credit for them and stop my edge payments which was not the way I know now it is supposed to work.  After a couple of phone calls a supervisor looked at my online chat transcript and realized that I was correct and the rep had told me incorrectly that they would take my edge phones back and give me credit for them and I could close my account by only paying the early termination fees.  She sent me two envelopes to send my two edge phones back in and said they would credit on my account and stop the monthly billing for them once they were received.  I called a couple of weeks ago after being charged 24.99 for the both of them again for the month after my account was stopped.  They said that they had not received my phones and I should have noted the tracking number from the labels the rep sent me so they could track them.  I tried to find the tracking numbers but couldn't so I got back on live chat and asked them to resend me the letter from the supervisor rep as well as resending the labels and he said they could that and it should be 7-10 business days.  It has now been over two weeks and I have not received the resent letter or labels so I cannot give them the tracking number to prove I sent my phones back to them.  I have also researched the facility I was asked to send these phones back to and it seems this is a pretty common Verizon trick of making you prove you sent the phones and not giving you any access to the tracking numbers.  I just want to pay my ETF's and close out my original account so I can start over fresh with Verizon but now I am losing faith in doing that as this is making me wonder if they are the type of company I want to deal with.  Please someone who may have dealt with this help me restore my faith in Verizon and give me an idea of what to do next.

    How recently did you switch?  If it's less than 60 days, then Verizon simply reinstates your previous account.  The fact that you were on the EDGE plan and mailed the devices back, and they apparently are somewhere in the system, could cause complications, and it might just work out that you just go back on the same plan and they set you up with the same devices.  I'm not sure how it will go - but since you are still being billed for the devices...
