Films en series huren / kopen

Hoi,

Why are there so many more choices on the USA iTunes Store? Surely having an iTunes account should let you access all itunes availability the world over?
Also how do you request films/tv series to the UK itunes? There's tv series I'd like but they're incomplete like The Batman & Xena Warrior Princess. And films theta aren't available for download but you can purchase in a store like HMV?  Apple isn't doing itself any favours by secluding countries by their store. They'd make billions if you could just select the iTunes Store you want to search & purchase from just by signing in! If anything what they're doing is putting themselves into a corner, other companies like Samsung & HTC are already on too of them for innovation & ease of use. The people they're attracting are predominantly existing Apple users not new customers. What do you guys think?

It's not Apple's choice, they can only sell a particular item where the content provider/rights-holder has granted them a license to sell them. Content is licensed by the rights-holders to Apple on a country-by-country basis, each country therefore has to have its own store, and you have to be in a country to use its store - they want control over where their content is available.
You can try requesting that an item be added to the UK store via this page, but unless the rights-holder agrees to then Apple won't be able to sell it here : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

  • When will renting films and series be available in the Netherlands?

In the Netherlands we still can't rent films. When will it be made available.

You are not talking to apple here, this is a user forum. No one would be able to answer this. It is likely due to licensing at any rate.

  • On Demand - "Q" Resume watching on demand film etc...

Can not find the answer to this question, but if I have been watching a film or series on 'On Demand' is there anyway to easily resume watching it after switching the box to watch TV then turning the box off.  The only way I have found is having to go to on demand content then to whatever Film etc and selecting what ever I had been watching, which is along winded.
    Solved!

Slight aside: Don't press "stop" then "done" just switch to the channel you want, it won't appear on 902 if you press "done".
And, further to the above, press 'STOP', then press 'WATCH LIVE TV'. Watch your live programme, then press 'BACK' on your remote and the box will take you back to the menu for your previously watched On Demand programme/film. And it will start playing from where you previously stopped watching! Cool eh.

  • HT1535 Can I delete a film from my iPad without connecting to a computer?

Can I delete a film from my iPad without connecting to a computer? Does anyone know?

You can also go to Settings > General > Usage > Videos > Tap edit and Tap delete.
If you wish to redownload, go to iTunes App and then tap Purchased. In the header tap Film/TV Series and then click the little cloud with the arrow through it. It will then download onto the iPad again.

  • How to create a 'parallel' extended display through Apple TV Airplay

    Dear all,
I'm a relatively new Mac user and have not been able to find an answer to my question by looking up key words in Google or here, so apologies if this has been answered before.
Basically, I would like to know how I can project a video file or a film/TV series I am watching (for example, a video playing in VLC or a film streaming from my subscription to Amazon Prime Instant Video website, open in a browser) onto my Toshiba TV, via Apple TV airplay - whilst still being able to work on a separate window/desktop on my MacBook Air.
As a PC user slowly converting to Mac, I know how to do this on a PC by using the Windows logo key +P shortcut, choosing 'Extend' instead of 'Duplicate' and then dragging whatever video source I want to watch into the extended desktop screen being projected on my TV. I've tried doing this on the Mac by
using the multiple desktops in Mission Control (with no success, as Airplay obviously just mirrors what I'm doing on my screen onto the TV, i.e. switching from desktop to desktop as I do on the computer), or
by clicking 'Extend Desktop' instead of the automatic 'Mirror Built-in Display' on the Airplay icon on the menu bar and then dragging the browser into the extended display on the TV and hitting the 'Full screen' button of the video itself. However, as soon as I do this and click or type anything on my computer desktop, the video automatically minimizes and all I'm left with on the TV display is the browser with the initial smaller version of the film playing within it. In the 'View' tab, I've tried switching Firefox/Safari to 'Full screen' before making the video 'Full screen' too, but again, as soon as I touch anything back on my Mac desktop it minimizes. I've noticed Chrome has an 'Enter Presentation Mode' option available in the 'View' tab, which leaves the video playing full screen, but with a grey bar at the top (which is visually annoying, but still closer to what I'm looking for). Similarly, if I try to drag a video file playing in VLC, as soon as I hit the full screen button, the desktop I'm using on the Mac goes black even though I can still move the cursor on it.
I'm clearly missing a step somewhere, so any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm a prolific multitasker!

    Hi _MicMacs_,
It sounds like you've been on the right track in trying to sort out this issue. I'm a bit unclear on what you are describing when you say it works initially, but then immediately reverts when you click back on something in your primary display. You may want to try sizing the window to the display instead of using the full screen option (two opposing diagonal arrows), though this will leave the window border around the screen. For a bit more background on working with multiple displays in Mavericks, you may find the following article helpful:

  • Osx+tuxera ntfs+itunes+windows == 150GB of data gone

When i bought this mac (macbook pro 8,2) i had this nifty idea of repartitioning the hdd so that i would have a small osx and linux partition and all the space left for windows and data on one ntfs partition, i regret that now....
This idea was because of good support (read write permissions etc) for a filesystem is quite hard when you have 3 os'es al with a little compatibility with each other. ntfs was the best choice for the job, it has good support on mac (tuxera ntfs) windows uses it nativly and linux also has good support for it.
Then the day came i installed tuxera ntfs, no problems works great.
The day after i wanted to store some music on my data partition, so i pointed itunes to a new library path, on the ntfs drive specificaly.
I had a folder named Media, in it were subfolders: films and series. music was added by itunes.
Then the day came i booted to my windows and wanted some music there too, i clicked on media, and what happened i got a big fat error saying it couldt open the folder and i had to make sure it was connected to the network and what not..
So i booted back into osx, folder gone... itunes couldnt access the folder anymore and reset the library path.
Both windows and osx couldn't access the folder anymore (osx didnt even see it anymore), probably because windows changed something to the ntfs folder while some parts were hfs+ for itunes (or something like that) it overwritten some crucial hfs+ header info.
the real fun started here, the ntfs drive reported a remaining GB count that matched my previous, before the **** went to ****.
Itunes was never made to write to ntfs because osx normally can't.
After that i tried to do a checkdisk, it started to delete every entry from its own filesystem it had record of for that media folder, there went the dire straits, coldplay etc. etc.
after checkdisk was gone it booted into windows, i checked my drive and the directory was also gone in windows. the only good part was that it finally reported the right available GB again..
so this was the story of a guy putting his faith into both windows and osx for not ******* up eachothers filesystems while working with it....
i wont make this mistake anymore.
Can someone from apple shed some light into this?
does itunes keep in mind the library can be placed on an ntfs drive, and that windows doesnt like hfs+ files on its ntfs partition...
this results in both of the oses shredding eachothers filesystems to pieces and leaving the user with no data.

...i would have a small osx and linux partition and all the space left for windows...
so this was the story of a guy putting his faith into both windows and osx for not ******* up eachothers filesystems while working with it....
You forgot Linux.  Are you certain that whatever you did in Linux didn't muck everything up?
...Can someone from apple shed some light into this?...
As Terence said, Apple doesn't respond in these forums.
...does itunes keep in mind the library can be placed on an ntfs drive,...
It's not completely clear, but I interpret that you were working with iTunes in OSX, but the library was stored on the NTFS partition.  In that case, then no, iTunes in OSX does NOT "keep in mind" that the library is on an NTFS partition since OSX does NOT support writing to NTFS.  You added that capability by installing Tuxera NTFS, which is not an Apple product.  BTW, I use Tuxera NTFS so I don't necessarily believe that Tuxera NTFS was the cause of your issues.  I'm just noting that iTunes in OSX would not have the capability by itself of working with a iTunes library located on a NTFS partition, so making the assumption that OSX iTunes would work perfectly with an NTFS iTunes library is, well, you know what they say about assumptions.
And you're using iTunes in a way that is not supported as far as I can tell.  (i.e.: shared iTunes library, particularly between the OSX and Windows versions of iTunes.)  A lot of what you're doing is unsupported (e.g.: Linux, more than the "two" partitions for OSX and WIndows.)  While unsupported does not mean "does not work", it does mean, you need to be more careful with what you do since you've gone beyond what Apple will guarantee.  (And Apple doesn't guarantee that even a supported version of Windows won't muck things up anyway.  It's Windows, after all. )

  • TS1368 My new iPad Air has connection to iStore, but it gives me USA instead of UK. I don't know how to change it.....and I am a dinosaur in these matters:-)

Help. New iPad Air WiFi...has connection to iStore USA. I want iStore UK. For downloading films/ TV Series. How can I change it to UK?   Am dinosaur, so easy answers please :-)

If you are not here in the UK then you can't use the UK store - you need to be in a country to use its store, so if you are in Hungary then you can only use the Hungary store.
The UK's store terms of use include (and other countries will be similar) :
The Service is available to you only in the United Kingdom. You agree not to use or attempt to use the Service from outside this location. iTunes may use technologies to verify your compliance.
If there is a particular film or TV programme/series that you want to buy that isn't currently in the Hungarian store then you can try requesting that it be added, but unless the rights-holder agrees to it then Apple won't be able to sell it there : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

  • I cannot homeshare and lost all my music, amongst other issues

Firstly I have a new laptop, and when I tried homesharing it would not let me sync to my new library unless I erased and synced purchases. As a result, I lost most of my music. Also, I have bought a film and a series from the itunes store, but only half the series seems to have downloaded and there is a weird blue dot on the left of half the series and the film, niether the film or series will sync to my ipod, so it appears that I have lost my money if it won't work :\ Any help ?

    You said:
    I had a song list of 272.
Where were the songs? On iPod
    they re-fused to work.
What do you mean by work?
iTunes said it had all my songs,
iTunes on the computer? Had them where?
Had you previously synced from this iTunes library before?
Which method of syncing did you use? Auto or manual?

  • [SOLVED] Fail using Samba

    Hi!
I have a WD TV Live in the living room connected to the TV and I have my PC in another room. In this PC I have all my films and series.
I'd like to acces from the WD TV Live to my PC films and reproduce them from the WD.
The solution to this is sharing folders (either Samba or NFS)
I choose Samba because I think there's more info around the web.
So, I installed and configured (I think correctly) the /etc/samba/smb.conf file:

1st, you have possibly way too much in your [global] section.  Most of that likely isn't needed, and at best it just clutters things up, at worst it can cause issues.  For example that windbind stuff...Are you integrating with AD ?  If not it's completely uneeded.  Also the "name resolve order" line is telling Samba to use WINS first.  Do you have a WINS server ?
Your best bet is to start with a very basic smb.conf and add to it.  The wiki has a decent overview of getting started.  I'd use that as a base, and mod as needed.
2nd, is basic name resolution working ?  Can you ping your Samba machine by name from the client ?  If not you'll have problems even if Samba is set up correctly.
In short, start with the basics and a simple config, then add to it.

Now, about your 2nd point. I want to acces to the Samba machine from a WD TV Live where the only way to access to the Samba machine is by the machine. Maybe, it would be useful to try to acces this Samba machine from another PC? How could I do this?
I've tried to acces from the WD TV Live and my Samba machine is found, but when I try to access it, I'm asked for an user and a password.
I've created the emilio user by:
    sudo useradd -s emilio
    and added a password:
    sudo smbpasswd -a emilio
but when I try to acces with this user and password it says they're incorrect.
    This is my smbusers file:
    # Unix_name = SMB_Name1 SMB_Name2 ...
    root = administrator
    anonymous = guest smbguest pcguest
    emilio = emilio
My linux user is emilio and it has a password, do I have to do something else?
    Thanks
    Regards

  • I need help finding a training course for FCP X

I am on Larry Jordan's site, but that only involves watching videos.  I learn better by working on a project at the same time.  This newbie needs some direction.  I need a hands on training course.  Please help.

As some of the others have stated both Ripple Training and Lynda.com are excellent options. Lynda.com offers a very wide range of training (including Logic Pro X, Motion 5, Compressor 4, etc.) that you can access via subscription. If you want to work directly with project files then you will need the higher end subscription to download the course files. Lynda.com just updated their FCPX training to the latest version of the software. Ripple Training is also excellent, and comes from the guys behind the FCPX & Motion certification courses. Their training is offered a la carte, and will run you a few hundred dollars to get everything.
Another great option is MacProVideo.com, they offer both purchases and subscriptions and have a decent range of courses. Their new Film Craft series isn't about FCPX, but is absolutely worth taking if you're new to the industry. They have great FCPX training, but are much more geared towards music programs.
You aren't likely to find a one size fits all approach to your training needs, and honestly, if you've got the time, complete as many of them as possible. Both Lynda and Ripple offer excellent courses on the art of editing. Ripple Training's Motion courses are second to none.
One more option would be taking a course at an Apple Certified Training Center. I didn't do this for FCPX, but did for my Logic Pro X & Motion 5 certifications and it worked out very well. The downsides are that it's very expensive, but you get to sit with an instructor, ask questions, and at the end of the course you can take the certification exam for free (well, included in your class). You really can't go wrong as long as you keep your education moving forward.

  • No HD Video from FCP w/ QTP

I have filmed a series of videos in HD and edited them in FCP Studio 1 (this includes QTP). I have exported the videos and can play them with my PPC G5 Dual Core (10.4.11) in QTP.
The problem is when I transfer them to my Intel iMac G5 (10.4.11) there is no video only sound. Both computers have FCP Studio 1 that includes QTP. I have done all the nessesary updates.
I can play HD trailers from the Apple site fine.....any ideas?

I'm not 100% sure what codec is used, but I'm using the Sony Z1 HDV. Capture, edit and export a sequence (using current settings) When the video is played in QTP I have audio and no video, QTP says it can't play the video. But I transfer the same video to the G5 dual core and it plays fine and looks amazing in QTP.
I checked the advanced tab but the only options were for synth, transport, kiosk and to use older codecs (legacy)
We have the exact setups on both computers, same OSX 10.4.11, FCP Studio 1 and QTP 7.5.5. The only difference is PPC G5 dual core and G5iMac Intel.
I would think that FCP studio would supply the codecs and I wouldn't need any 3rd party software.
Of course I can play the video in FCP but I would like to be able to show the video in QTP.
    any ideas?
It must be an Intel processor problem!
