Filter Objects out of an image

Hi,
i want to create something like a mask for an image. It should lay on the
image in order to check if some objects are existing - depending
on the type of mask. Let�s say the mask should detect squares.
Is there any possibility to do that? If yes, what are the classes i have to use?

Yes, I've done it. I won't say it's easy though. What I did was tediously remove the head with Instant Alpha, leaving the body with a transparent section where the head once was. Then position the photo with the desired head behind the body photo and adjust size and position until you have a good interface. I suppose you could do it the other way around, but it may take longer. When you have what you want, Print to PDF to flatten the composite to one layer.
The thing that makes this tedious is mainly the lack of an eraser tool. The next time I attempt this I'm going to explore using Seashore or Paintbrush in conjunction with iWork.

Filter Object with Filter Expression error.

Hello everyone!
I'm trying to put together the following expression for a filter to be used in a report:
Order Date -> object name = M1 - (number, measure)
Current Date -> object name = M2 - (number, measure)
Comparison between the two:
<EXPRESSION> IIF (@ Select (M1) = @ Select (M2), 1.0) </EXPRESSION>
object name 3
So far everything works fine.
When I create a report in Web and I put the filter M3 = 1, it filters properly.
I thought of putting the filter in a filter object in the universe, like this:
<FILTER EXPRESSION = "Select @ (M3)"> <CONDITION
OPERATORCONDITION = "Equal"> <CONSTANT CAPTION="1"/></CONDITION></FILTER>
Just as it is in Olap universes best practices written by Didier. (Page 12), as following example:
Filter with a calculated member referenced in the filter expression:
<FILTER EXPRESSION="@Select(Calendar Year\My Calculated Member)"><CONDITION
OPERATORCONDITION="Equal"><CONSTANT CAPTION="1"/></CONDITION></FILTER
But does not work when I put the query, the error is dpscommand. And I have no idea where the error is.
The strange thing is it works, if I filter the query directly. ( Query filter: M3 equal 1).
Do you have any tips? or something I could try that I have the M3 as a filter object?

MacOk, Probably shoud have figured this out before, but in response to my own question, the way to view the result of an expression is to add the expression as a column and include it in the Table Presentation.

APD with date variable in filter object

Have an APD with a filter object. The filter uses a range for 0CALDAY. the range includes a variable (customer_exit) whic calculates the date of previous fiscal period-end date. Works perfectly in Bex.
However, when running the APD, the date format comes out as YYYY/MM/DD, and 0CALDAY is expecting MM/DD/YYYY.
How can I get the internal format of the date correct? I get no errors in the APD, however the date format causes incorrect results, as if no date was entered.
Any suggestions?
PS. actually, the internal date format used by the APD for my variable ZCE_PREVPER_END is:
ZCE_PREVPER_END = '20101001'
Needs to be 10/01/2010....

Hi Jordan,
I would suggest several options.
First, you have the option within Webi to display only the date and not the time (right click on the object on the report, or go to field properties, and change the format of the display).
If you are using this value in comparisons in the report, you must make sure the format matches. Try changing the format within the variable to be the same as what you are comparing it to. If that is still not working, let me know. It may still just be a syntax or data type/format error.

Filtering out "private" tagged images

I have two questions concerning "Smart albums" in iPhoto 5:
In my library I have photos that I don't want others to accidently stumble over when looking through my albums, so I created a keyword called "Private" which I tag those photos with.
I've created an album with a filter rule that matches "Private", displaying only those private photos:
Match [All] of the following conditions:
[Keyword] [is]: [private]
And in my other albums, I've added a filter rule which will not display any "private" photos which would otherwise show up there:
Match [All] of the following conditions:
[Keyword] [is not]: [private]
1) I'd like to use the "private" keyword together with several other keywords in a smart-album. How can I do that? The filters only seem to allow an "all" filter or an "any" filter, not a combination of both "and" and "or".
Let me explain:
I would like for all images with "John" and all images with "Lisa" keywords to be shown in that album, but not if they're also tagged as "private".
What I'm basically looking for (which I can't see being possible in iPhoto) is:
Match [any] of the following conditions:
[Keyword] [is]: [John]
AND
[Keyword] [is not]: [private]
OR
[Keyword] [is]: [Lisa]
AND
[Keyword] [is not]: [private]
2) Adding the filter rule of leaving out any "private" tagged photos from a particular album works fine using the example in the beginning of my message.
But this means that I have to remember to add it to any smart-album filter that I know will otherwise display those private photos, or add that filter to all of my smart-albums regardless.
However, isn't there an easier way? Is it somehow possible to do it the other way round: to create a filter that says that "private" images should never be displayed?
Then, for that one smart-album I do want them displayed I specifically ask for them to be displayed.
In other words, the default for my library being that "private" images aren't shown in any album.

Should do. Remember that the Library Filter is a *filter*, so fitlering the current assets. To be certain you've got all videos, make sure All Photographs is selected in the top left panel.
Alternatively, you can set up a smart collection.

How can you find out an individual image size from multiple images on a canvas

This is probably a really really simple question but I can't for the life of me find how I can find out an individual image size from multiple images on a canvas. eg I have 3 photos i want to arrange 1 large and the other two next to it half the size. How can I edit individual image size on the canvas as when I select the image on a sperate layer I want to resize it just resizes the entire canvas and not the individual image

I want to know they exact dimensions though. You can get them by dragging to the 0,0 corner and then reading off of the ruler scale on the sides but its fiddily as you have to zoom right in and work it out. I know in photoshop there is a ruler but is there any other way in Elements?

Don't save. Close the documents.
Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Pages 5 will damage/alter older files, something Apple didn't tell its users.
Pages 5 is a severely stripped down version with over 90+ features removed.
We recommend trashing/archiving Pages 5 after Exporting any files you may have saved back to Pages '09.
Also rate/review Pages 5 in the App store.

Web gallery max out at 500 images

Hi, I'm using LR 3.5 and when I creat a web gallery it maxes out at 500 images, even though there are 776 photos in the gallery and all 776 are selected. In fact, the image number below the preview shows 1/500 instead of 1/776. When i look at the uploaded website it also only shows 500 images. In Library mode I see all 776 images, and also in Web mode I see all 776. When I switch from Library to Web I see the "Update Web Gallery" in the top left corner of the window. It shows the progress window: "Export image fliename-001" and continues up to image 500, then stops. So it appears it is only exporting 500 images.

Hopefully you appreciated I was being semi serious! Many pros would see part of their job being to whittle a big shoot down to a reasonable number to present to the client, and secondly I'd question if going through a slideshow in sequential order is the best way to review a large number of pictures - better than a grid of decent-sized thumbnails? Those are obviously judgement calls and I don't like a 500 limit being imposed.

In galleryinfo.lrweb, change the title to something like "Flash Gallery (edited)"
When you restart LR, you'll see "Flash Gallery (edited)" in the Layout Style panel

Pulling Objects out of a Vector

Hi, all:
I am trying to pull Objects out of this vector, and the given method only wants to let me get integers. How do I go about getting Objects out of a vector like this one? The problem comes in with the last line, where the "get" method complains that it wants an integer. The API says the same; I just can't find a method that lets me pull an Object out of a vector instead of an integer. Any ideas?

Quickest way? If using Photoshop CC: Click the Crop Tool. Hover your mouse a little outside one of the corners of your image. Click and drag in the appropriate direction. You can also use the "straighten" option on the option bar to, say, draw a line where it needs to be horizontal (or vertical).

Objects out of alignment when published

Hi,
I;m having issues with alignment and have searched the forum bt not yet found a resolution.
Despite setting alignment in the Design view, the live view places some objects out of alignment.

Thanks for taking the time to look and reply. I've checked and there are no overlapping or stray boxes, but its something I'll keep an eye out for. I grouped all the column items together, but this doesn't prevent it from happening.

I am using Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS and Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0
I have a column named URL in a table named DOCUMENTO_CONSULTA
This column contains file URLs (2 rows involved in the test)
I am confident that the paths that appear in the two rows of the URL column are correct (because if I change
them to something different another error appear that says, as expected, that files could not be found). I am sure
that access to the files is granted. FILE_ACCESS_ROLE is set to CTXAPP and role is granted to the user. File
and path permission are set to 777.
The two rows contains paths to simple DOC and PDF content, with just one paragraph each.

Ubuntu is not a supported platform for Oracle, so it's hard to answer this.
However, if you want to try to debug it, replace the "ctxhx" executable with a shell script which dumps its arguments and the current environment to a file.
You can then use that output to create a shell with the same environment, and see if command line ctxhx still works. If not, you'll have to figure out what the differences are between the two environments.
