Filter on charts/map

Hi,
I have created a state map and used the following query
select distinct null link, substr(building_id,0,2) label, SUM(funds) value1
from Measures_TEST
where funding_year = 2009
group by substr(building_id,0,2), funding_year;
This is working fine and displaying the expected result. In the above query, i have provided the funding_year as 2009. I would like to create a filter as a dropdown list on this page and whenever user selects year from the dropdown box, the map should be displayed accordingly.
Could you please provide some suggestions on how to achieve this.

Thanks for your reply. I am able to create page item with select list. With this option, I am able to select one year at a time. To select multiple years, i have created a check box. In this case do i need to create a submit page, to be able to submit after selecting multiple years? I think, i should create the submit button in the page rendering section after regions, and a submit process in page processing section under processing section. But, I am not sure what shall i put in the submit process.
Could you please let me know the procedure to select multiple years? Which option should i select when creating page item.

The Filter defined will only be run in the context that it is defined in. Since you are creating a new context, you will have to assign a new Filter. BTW, why not include the static content in the WAR with the dynamic stuff?

Filter, Information, Chart Buttons in the workbook are not working

i created a wokbook and done some modification.
When i click on one of these Buttons ( Filter, Information, Chart ) it is not working. How can i repair it?

A way to transform a template chart/map into an editable template?

Hello!
I've been curious about this for a while now, so I was hoping that perhaps some of you knowledgeable people in here could shed some light on this for me.
I often use Adobe Illustrator to create charts, maps and diagrams that contains texts for my employer. Basically, he tutors in business development on the highest level, and I provide him with graphics, powerpoint presentations, animations, and a lot of other stuff for his seminars.
Now, sometimes we use our charts and maps without content (ie. no text, arrows, etc.) so that he can let the companies fill out the values themselves during their exercises in the training course.
However, my (or should I say, OUR) problem has always been to figure out a way for me to 1) create a template in Illustrator, and 2) convert the template into an editable chart, or map, to fill out with text, arrows, etc.
I've just finished a small test, though, and it looks fairly alright.
What I did was to create the template map in Illustrator, save it as a PDF file, and then open the PDF file in Adobe Acrobat Pro and insert Form Fields in the empty boxes (the boxes in the map has to be empty, as the companies has to fill out these boxes with values that correspond to their own agenda (read: business)).
After filling out the boxes with Form Fields, I saved it, and re-opened it to try and enter some default texts, and it seemed to work quite well.
What I am wondering, however, is if there is a much more effective way to create a graphic template chart/map that can be edited by others easily and effectively.
Perhaps anyone in here knows of a viable solution?

No they wouldn't.
1. Create the artwork in Illustrator or whatever.
2. Save as PDF.
3. Open in Acrobat Pro. Add the desired form fields.
4. Enable the file for Reader Extensions.
The file can now be opened in the freely-distributed Adobe Reader. The fields can be edited, and the file can be saved with the edits, printed, etc. by the end-user, using nothing but Reader.
However...
Your description of your task is too vague. Why don't you show an example of exactly what you want to do? For example, you talk about graphs being updated by the end-user's data input. That's not going to happen with a basic PDF form. You can do the steps described above, but editing the PDF fields is not going to cause the graph artwork to update according to the new values.
Basically, your too-general description suggests you want an easy and quick way to build what amounts to (practically speaking) a standalone interactive application, without entailing a lengthy learning process. Truth is, Adobe graphic apps aren't really going to provide that without a significant learning curve in Flash or scripting or some combination of programs. PDF forms features can be used for some very basic interactivity, but not like you describe, without getting into the minutia of embedding Flash SWFs in the PDF, etc.
If you understand Flash, it is an option. Flash is not just for deployment on the web. You can create standalone runtime apps with Flash. But again, learning how to build and script an interactive graph in Flash is not a trivial matter. And while Flash is certainaly geared toward real-time interactivity, it's not out-of-the-box geared toward responding to and writing to database records. (It can be made to do that, but again there's a significant learning curve.)
Illustrator's XML-based Variables feature is pretty much useless outside of the native Illustrator application. (Frankly, I find it pretty much useless even within the program.)
The fact is, although Adobe apps are just now beginning to add a few "me too" features to make them more useful for changing-data driven graphics, they are way late to the game. It's really not a clean and simple process. And in typical Adobe fashion, the intention seems to be toward convoluted dependency upon several Adobe apps and technologies; Adobe apps don't really provide the straight-out-of-the-box, rapid-development, minimal-fuss data-driven solutions that business users need.
Of course, the most obvious platform for what you have so-far described would simply be Excel. No, it doesn't export standalone runtime applications, but it's so ubiquitous among business users, it's a safe bet your end-users can work with it. Regarding data-driven maps, you might look at Microsoft MapPoint.
Depending somewhat upon the nature of the graphs, maps, etc. that you're talking about (which you do not describe to any suitable degree), I'd consider building a solution in FileMaker Pro. FMP is an easy-to-use and very versatile relational database program. It provides basic graph types (that can nonetheless be used to display not-so-basic data analysis). It can export directly to PDF. It can be bound as a standalone runtime application (graphing excluded). It can deployed via the web with its own built-in Instant Web Publishing engine. The main advantage is that it is actually a database. So entering and saving data for multiple end users or multiple what-if scenarios, integrating values from any number of related data tables, live calculations, and/or logic, is standard fare--each data change can be a separate record in the database.
For example: I have a FMP database containing some 23,000 or so records. Several of the Layouts (views) of those records have live curve graphs that illustrate things like sales trends over time. The graphs are entirely live. As you flip through the records, the graphs display the curves for the current record. If the data in the fields is changed, the graphs update in real time. That solution can be viewed and worked with in a web browser from anywhere.
But for good advice, you need to provide a good description of what exactly you need to do.

Putting filter in message mapping

I am trying to put a filter for company codes such that if a type of company code comes in the file from source, it will filter out and send it to target system. I have set of company codes and values that I want to pass but want to filter out some company codes with certain values only. How can I achieve that? One possible way I can think of is If/then/Else logic with fixed values mapping.
Is there a blog or step by step guide? Can anyone help how I can do this in message mapping?

IDoc - File filter in Message Mapping

I'm trying to move employees from an IDoc to a File. I want to filter on field E1BEN31-LEVL1 and only create ROW in the FILE if E1BEN31-LEVL1 = '1000'. How do I do this?
Source: 1 single IDoc with multiple employees in it

I am quite new to xcelsius !! Following is my situation!!
Below are counts for Channel and Company for each month!!

I created a Filter component and According to Channel and Company for Each month I could able to show Policy count.....
I achieved until this!!
Now the Requirement is something like this.When the user clicks on Company(Abc) and Channel (ILCO)he could able to see following in three diffent Graph!!!

I understand that you are not using Filter component any one and you might be using other components like combo box, radio button etc..
You can achive this, Point all company values to the first componet source and destination to one cell and write the formula in such a way that compare the destination of the first compoent and get the list of channels particular to the selected company and point then to the second component source and give destination to the second componet.Write formulas based on the second components destination cell and ge the values required for graph and point them to the graphs.

Axis Field filter only appearing in Legend of Pivot Chart

I was referred here after posting the following on the Office Excel user forum (answers.microsoft.com) I hope I provide all you need, but of course I can provide further details if needed. I am on Windows 7 using Excel 2010.
Okay here goes! (thanks in advance for any direction you can provide)
I was creating a PivotChart where I wanted to be able to filter the chart based on the fields I dropped into the "Axis Fields (Categories)" areas section of my PivotTable. This was working fine until I added the filters as slicers, decided
I didn't like them, and deleted them. Now when I try to view the filter boxes, they will only appear as part of the legend. I do not want to show the legend as it has too many values. I would like to revert to the original behavior of showing the Axis Field
Buttons at the bottom of the chart, where they appeared originally (Without being associated with the chart legend).
Anyone know how to restore this behavior?
It works this way on other chart types, like line and bar. But it no longer works on the type of chart I wanted to use which is a Pie chart. I have opened new instances of Excel and tried to create a Pivot Chart Pie chart and get the same results:
the axis fields are associated with the chart legend, instead of being available independently.
Any help that can be provided would be appreciated

I guess you may want to let the Pivot chart shows like the screenshot below:
If so, you need to add a new column(Equal to the field which you want to put into the AXIS field) to source data, then in the Pivot Table, put this field to the FILTERS .

I don't think this operation you did would change any behavior. Perhaps you can upload this file to a file sharing site and then share the link with us.

Problem with filter mapping

Hello.
I am creating a login web application. At the moment I am using tomcat 5.5. I am using the memoryRealm to authenticate the user. This seems to be a very common problem but after a day of searching cannot find why this is not working. Basically I have created my filter like so:

Thanks for reporting this. As it turns out, we removed the /* filter-mapping, in the 10.1.2.1 release, and did not add the ordDeliverMedia mapping. I just tested it and yes, with the 10.1.2.1 we now get the same NullPointerException as you got. When creating a non-Jhs ViewController project with drag and drop, there is no longer a /* filter-mapping, and a new ordDeliverMedia mapping, so your fix is as it should be, and we will add this mapping in the next maintenance release.

Migrating from Crystal Reports Charts using TopN and "Other" to Reporting Services

I am currently migrating several Crystal Reports that have charts. The chart series is set to use the TopN values in a count, and combine the rest of the series into one series titled "Other". I see how to filter the chart using TopN, however I need to still show the rest of the data grouped as "Other". I think the solution I need is to create a group expression that uses some sort of IIF function to create the "Other" group, but I haven't found a function that I can use to get the results I need. Any ideas?

We were looking at report deployment options and evaluating SSRS vs Crystal Report Server. There were several reasons we decided to go with SSRS:
Cascading Parameters
Ability to use multiple data sets in one report
SSRS seemed more user-friendly than CRS
There were a few other considerations I can remember now, but the final reason was price. My company already had the licenses for SQL Server. However, even if that was not a consideration I still would have gone with SSRS.

SSRS Chart does not show all data

I have a report from a cube. I'm using filters to get data. I have filters by year and month, I have a chart that shows data initially from a month. My problem is when I filtered data of different years, for example:
If I select Year 2014, Months: Jan 2014,Feb 2014, Mar 2014, May 2014, Apr 2014, Jun 2014. The information is displayed correctly.
If I select Year 2014 and 2013, Months: Nov 2013, Dec 2013, Jan 2014,Feb 2014, Mar 2014, May 2014, Apr 2014, Jun 2014. Only displays information for year 2013 (Nov 2013, Dec 2013).
Also I have a tablix, using the same dataset that chart, and in this tablix I have not this issue.
¿How can I do that chart displays the information I select in filters?

According to your description, you have issue on filtering data in your chart. When you select more than one year (2013 and 2014) in parameter, it only return the data for months of 2013. Right?
In this scenario, since it shows all months for both years in the month parameter, it seems no issues on cascading parameter. So it may has issue in the filter. We are not sure you add the filter on dataset or chart based on your information. If you add
the filter on dataset, you may need to check the chart design because the same dataset is working in a tablix. Please try to put the Year into Series or add a calculate field which combine the Year and Month in your dataset then put this field in
Category. If you add the filter on chart, please check the Operator and Values in your filter. One possibility is, when we set expression for Values, if we double click the parameter, it will return "Parameter!Year.Value(0)" by default, we need to change it
into "Parameter!Year.Value". If it's still not working, please post some more detail information or screenshots about the dataset and filters. This may help us reproduce your issue in our local environment.

I am new to JSF's and using JBoss 4.2.0 application server.

Process Flow Execution of Mapping results in ORA-01403: no data found

Hi,
When the Mapping is run standalone, it runs fine, but when run through a Process Flow, it generates ORA-01403 on a FILTER within the Mapping.
What should be the debug steps. The RTE_ROWKEY is mentioned as 0 and does not help.
OWB Version is 9.2.0.2.8

ORA-01403: no data found
Error Unable to process row of table fRQ (the debug is also posted in mail earlier)

Chart on parent child hiearchy

Hi All,
I am trying to create chart above the table . The table has parent child relationship. However, in chart I want to display only the child values and on table I want to show parent child relationship.
Is there a way to create filter for chart only in obiee report not on table?

BSP Chart Types Available

Hi,
I want to display Charts & Maps in BSP with the data driven from the Tables. I have seen <html:charts> which supports Bar,Line,Area,Pie(2D & 3D) Charts. But is there any component to show the Maps with the City.
BW has some component called MAPS in BEX web application designer which comes from IGS. Is there any possibilities to use those type of Graphics in BSP.
Has any experts done that?

Hi Arun,
the BW BEx mapping functionalities are not connected to the BSP framework.
However, there's a <graphics:map>-Tag which would be able to display objects on top of a detailed map - unfortunately, SAP can't ship the map data together with the WebAS so this needs to be set up project-based in conjunction with a GIS partner/vendor.
