Filtering a region source based upon a value in the calling form

Hi,
I am calling a report form with the following SQL
select
"RESPONSE_ID",
"ASSIGNMENT_ID",
"QUESTION_ID",
"DATE_CREATED",
"GRADING_1_10",
"RESPONSE"
from "#OWNER#"."CR_QUESTION_RESPONSES"
where assignment_id = NVL(:P17_ASSIGNMENT_ID, assignment_id).
P17_ASSIGNMENT_ID is populated from the calling form, but it is not been recognised when the query is run.
Is there a way to pass values to a query dynamically?
Thanks.

Hi,
Most likely :P17_ASSIGNMENT_ID is not set
To check the value of :P17_ASSIGNMENT_ID you can add it to the query:
select
:P17_ASSIGNMENT_ID val_check,  -- <-- added to check value
"RESPONSE_ID",
"ASSIGNMENT_ID",
"QUESTION_ID",
"DATE_CREATED",
"GRADING_1_10",
"RESPONSE"
from "#OWNER#"."CR_QUESTION_RESPONSES"
where assignment_id = NVL(:P17_ASSIGNMENT_ID, assignment_id)Regards,
Lev

  • Display values in the called form whose data is inserted in calling form

    Hi,
    We have a custom form (Form 1) wherein we call another form (form2) when a button is pressed in Form1.
    Scenario
    Form 1 - contains 3 blocks -
    -->Header Block - HB,
    -->Child Block - CB1 - which is child of HB and is multi records block
    -->Child Block CB2 - Child of CB1
    The canvas of forms 1 holds only HB and CB1 and due to business reasons we are populating CB2's table (say T2) in the post insert trigger of the CB1.
    A button is pressed which opens a new form - a display only form (form 2) .
    Form 2 just fetches the records that are inserted into the table T2. Note that Form 2 is also a multi record block.
    Issue
    Assuming that I update some value in Form 1 - block CB1 and save it ; and then click on the button...how should I make sure that the changed values are reflected in the Form 2.
    Questions
    1) On updating CB1 values - since this impacts values in CB2 T2 table- which trigger should this be handled.
    2) how should we make sure that on clicking the button that opens Form 2, the changed values in T2 are reflected.

  • How to Automate the Query Search Upon Return to the Calling Form?

    Greetings Ya’ll Gurus,
    Could you please share with me how to make the Query Search executed automatically each time, when database table is updated, upon return to the “Calling Form” (i.e. FormA in this posting) from the “Called Form” (i.e. FormB from here on)?
    I have FormA call_form to FormB. FormB may return to FormA. FormA allows users to enter the Query parameters and perform query Search to the database table with a list of search results afterward; whereas FormB allows users to add or delete the same database table records. Both form images are as follows:
    FormA:
    !http://dot.state.ak.us/nreg/jtomasic/FormA_DWR_SEL.GIF!
    FormA call_form to FormB by clicking PB “Daily Work Report” (see circled PB "Daily Work Report" in the above image.)
    FormB Image (FormB allows users to add and delete database records):
    !http://dot.state.ak.us/nreg/jtomasic/FormB_DWR.GIF!
    FormB EXIT_FORM and returns to FormA (see circled PB "DWR Selection" in above image).
    Currently, our users must press the PB “Search” on FormA each time to refresh the Query “Search” results after returning to FormA, and they request to have the "Search" done automatically/programmatically upon return to FormA each time when the database table is updated.
    If you have programming code on this and are willing to share or if you have any suggestion or thoughts on this, it would be most greatly appreciated.
    Thanks a lot & Happy Holidays!

    Thanks so much Andreas, and yes, your link for calling a form and passing a context is very helpful. I believe, your suggested use of the global variable for the saved database table will work for the automation of the Query Search. I am, however, not sure how to make the code and the trigger to automatically perform Query PB "Search". The code for our current "WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED" Trigger for the PB-Search of FormA is as following:
    DECLARE
         alert_button     NUMBER;
         alert_id               ALERT;

    end if;
    END;My questions are:
    After initializing, set and/or reset the global variable for the saved database table,
    do I copy the above code (i.e. the "entire" code in the "WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED" Trigger for the PB-Search) to the WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE-trigger, or other trigger(s), of FormA to automate the Query Search whenever there is a successful database commit/save? Or
    is there a simple way to activate the code in the "WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED" Trigger for the PB-Search of FormA? Or
    is there a simple way to activate the EXECUTE_QUERY(ALL_RECORDS) command in the WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE-trigger or other trigger(s) of FormA ?
    Thanks and always.

  • Doubt : retaining the value between the calls

    hi,
    Which statement would you use to declare a variable, within a Function Module/Form-routine, so as it will retain the value between the calls?"
    Gaurav

    Dear Gaurav,
    To retain the same value outside a function module, you can define a variable with the same name as the exporting parameter in a function module. However in case of Subroutines you can pass the value by reference as any change in the formal parameters will be reflected in the actual parameters.

  • Pass date value back from called form

    I have a form that allows the user to select a date from a calendar canvas. I can call this form from another from and now want to pass the selected date on the called form back to the calling form. I'm new to multi-form applications so I'm looking for some guidence here. I am thinking a parameter list would be better than a global variable since globals only support char values. I've never done this before so any advice or examples would be helpful.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jeff

    Chander,
    Thanks for your reply. I think this is the .olb I am using. I created my calendar form using it or a similar .olb. The form runs OK, just lacks the means to pass the "date picked" to the calling form. This is where my inexperience is making things difficult. Assuming we are talking about the same olb, how do I pass the date back?

  • How to change a region title based upon the input parameter?

    Hi All,
    I need to change the region's title dynamically based on the value of a select list in another region.
    Can anyone help me in this?
    Regards,
    Sakthi.

    Hi,
    You can use &P1_ITEM_NAME. (including the & and the .) in a region title - this string will be replaced by the value from the page item called P1_ITEM_NAME, so change the name to suit your page item

  • Line item pricing based on total value of the order

    Hi,
    We need to charge as a separate line item (material) 'Insurance' as a % based on the total value of the order less one line item. Our orders are created on the web and posted via a BAPI.
    (a) depending on where the customer is located, we charge a certain added shipping cost.
    (b)  the customer has the choice to ask for insurance or not.
    The actual order may be 10 lines totaling $1,000 and due to location, the BAPI slaps on an added line item of $100. If the customer chose the insurance option, the BAPI needs to slap on another line item whose value would be, say 2% of the total order, i.e. 2% of 1000 (instead of on 1000+100). Of course, if the customer doesn't choose this option he is not charges this extra line and further if the customer is not in the particular region, the 100 charge may also not be there.
    The 2% can vary time to time so needs to be driven by a condition record based on %.
    How can we achieve this in the pricing procedure? The logic of how the BAPI will function is clear to us, we are stuck on the pricing procedure configuration.
    Glad to answer any further questions you may need for clarifications.
    Many thanks!

    Ideally insurance would be levied on end customer based on Inco Terms like CIF, DDU etc.,
    So you can have an access sequence for which you can make use of tables like 033 & 034 in V/07.  In VK11, for this combination, maintain the required insurance percent.
    In condition type V/06, for this condition type, maintain "C" for Manual entries, since you have indicated that customer has the choice.  Otherwise, this can be populated automatically in sale order.
    Similarly, for shipment cost also, you can have the Inco2 as one of the combination so that based on region, this condition type will be populated in sale order.  If you have shipment cost configured, then this can be achieved.
    In your pricing procedure, you have to assign the shipment cost condition type next to insurance and assign the From-To step accordingly.
    thanks

  • Not able to add an excel file as data source to create new values in the mapped domain

    Hi
    I am trying to use some sample data from an Excel file to improve the quality of a Knowledge Base I have created in the Data Quality Client. I followed the following steps:
    Knowledge Discovery
    Data Source: Excel File
    Browsed to the Excel File on my local drive.
    I'm getting the following error: Failed reading Excel File
    I have checked the security settings, and provided full control to the user. I'm not sure as to what is the issue here. I
    am totally new in this field and with my little knowledge trying to build a Knowledge Base. But the hurdle stopped me.
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi
    You can add a  Excel file as the data source for a universe,  below are the steps.
    Ensure that the following steps are done before inserting a table from Excel sheet into a universe.
    1. Go to Excel and highlight all the cells that you want in the same table.
    2. Go to the Name box from Insert->Name->Define and give a name (in Designer, you see this name as a table of all the values you have selected).
    3. Go to Designer and pop up the table browser. You have to drag and drop the name you gave.
    and check the SP of ur BO.
    you can use .xls file as datasource but you cannot use .xlsx(windows 2007) .

    Thanks & Regards, Sudheer

    Hi,
    In addition to Hemendra, there is OOB option to order items in descending order per one column value.
    You could create a view for this list, and configure in Sort section.

  • Passing Session Values to the Tabular Form Element of a Report Column

    Hello,
    I'm running application express version 2.0 with a 10.2.0.2.0 database on a 32 bit windows box. I'm trying to figure out sneaky a way to pass the &APP_PAGE_ID., #APP_PAGE_ID# or V('APP_PAGE_ID'); as an element attribute of a Report Tabular Form Element set to display as a Select List (named LOV).
    It seems that whatever option I choose, the Element Attributes field will only render the literal value of what I have entered. This is part of the solution but I would like to find a way to pass the current page id.
    What I'm trying to do is utilize the ONCHANGE attribute to redirect to a report page in my application when the value from a Select List (named LOV) is selected.
    I could work around this by creating my own table output with PL/SQL and HTP.P commands but would really be interested in finding out if I can use the reporting structures which are already available through Application Express.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.
    Justin.

    Thanks for the response Earl. To clarify this is what I've done and what I hope to achieve:
    I currently have a LOV for my application that identifies a number of database report types: DB Options, DB Parameters, DB Version, and so on.
    I have an application express report being generated for the databases I'm monitoring and it displays as follows:
    - HOST -- DBTYPE -------- DBNAME - DBREPORTS
    =====================================
    - SVR 1 - Oracle 9.2.0.1 - DEV -------- [LOV HERE]
    - SVR 2 - Oracle 9.2.0.7 - TST --------- [LOV HERE]
    I am displaying the LOV on my report the the options under the reports attribute tab in my application builder. I insert my LOV select list by editing the DBREPORTS column and set the "Display As:" option under Tabular Form Element to "Select List (named LOV)"; I have also added my LOV to the "Named LOV" option under List of Values.
    So far this achieves everything I would expect and works quite well (a select list with my report types appears in my monitor report for each DB that is returned).
    What I'm interested in doing now is opening a DBREPORT for a given database by simply choosing the report type from my LOV. I can set the "Element Attributes" option under Tabular Form Element to execute a javascript call for any valid event (in my case I'm using ONCHANGE).
    My only issue is that I cannot find a way to pass any session values from my page to my Element Attribute. If, in the Element Attributes field I enter:
    onchange="alert(this.value);" //my dialogue box will display the value of my current selection when I choose a report type.
    What I'd love to be able to do is something like:
    onchange="alert('&APP_PAGE_ID.');" //so my current page id is written to the element.
    Unfortunately, only my literal text seems to be rendered. Rather than having my dialogue come back with my page number, say 75, I receive the literal value &APP_PAGE_ID.
    Notwithstanding any quote issues, I've tried to dump a test html attribute to my source html by entering any of the following in the Element Attributes field:
    test=&APP_PAGE_ID.
    test=#APP_PAGE_ID#
    and as a shot in the dark knowing that I'm not using PL/SQL:
    test=V('APP_PAGE_ID');
    In every case when I view source I see the literal value of what was entered in the Element Attributes field (ie "test=&APP_PAGE_ID." instead of "test=75").
    What makes things a little more frustrating is that I can drop &APP_PAGE_ID. into the Column Heading field (ex My Heading &APP_PAGE_ID.), it renders as I would expect; "My Heading 75". If we could find a solution to this, I could see a number of slick uses for this type of functionality.
    Hope this helps,
    Thanks.
    Justin.

  • How can I make a control inside a loop in a subVI change value when the calling VI's control changes?

    Hi.
    I think this is a pretty basic LV question, but I have not been able to find a good solution.
    I am attaching VIs that show the problem I am having, but obviously, the real application is a lot complicated, which forces me to try to do it this way.
    The issue is: I have a subVI with a Boolean control inside a loop.  When the control is true I want some action to take place.  When the subVI is run on its own, it works fine, acting properly when I set the boolean control to true via the LV FPGA interface from the host.  However, when I use it as a subVI, in which the top-level VI calls several instances of the subVI, I have the Boolean controls in the top level VI.  What is happening is that the false Boolean value with which the top-level VI starts is passed into the subVIs, and not updated, even though the control is inside the loop.
    Can any one suggest a good solution?
    Thanks,
    AlejandroZ

    Hi.
    I know the example I posted might seem silly, but it was just to illustrate the problem I am having.  In reality this is the application:
    I have some LV FPGA code which uses a few FPGA IO to implement a serial link to communicate with a device.  Most of the time we are getting data from the device, so the serial link is used to send a read command, read in the data and put it into a FIFO.  However, I also wanted the VI to support sending data to the device, so I added an array control to put the data you want to send, and a boolean control to tell it you want to send it.
    Since sending and receiving data are done using the same FPGA IO, they cannot be independent operations, because they would garble each other. Therefore, in the subVI I have a loop in which I first read data if there is any to read, then check the boolean write control to see if there is data to write.
    As I mentioned, this works perfectly for talking to a single device.  However, we run into the issue of this topic when trying to replicate this for several devices.
    One easy solution is to not have the loop in the subVI, and have it in the calling VI (I am favoring this simple solution right now).  The only reason why I have not done this yet, is that the subVI has more than one loop, so I am going to have to create several subVIs.  I just posted to see if there was an even simpler solution...
    There have been some other possibly good solutions proposed here, though I am not sure if they work in LV FPGA.
    Thanks for all your responses.

  • How can I pass Flex Field value to the Call Wrap Up screen?

    Hello helpers,
    I am trying to get a value from the 'Flex Field' passed over to the 'Call Wrap Up' screen by using Form Personalization.
    Oracle was configured by a subcontractor and therefore I do not know what the exact name of the textfield is in the Flex Field however the label is 'Method of Contact'. When i set 'Show Custom Events' to 'On', I get the response: 'CSXXXRC.INCIDENT_TRACKING.STATUS_CODE:WHEN-NEW-ITEM-INSTANCE' When i enter a value in the Method of Contact field in the Flex Field.
    Can anyone help?
    I am a complete Newbie to Oracle.... I only know a bit about Oracle Form Personalization.
    Any help would be much appreciated,

  • How to get the value of the current form values after "save" in MD form

    Hi,
    I am trying to run a procedure using the form values right after I save the current records in a master-detail form. When I pass the value using p_session.get_value to the procedure, there is only null value passed. I checked the package body generated and found that the OnReset function runs immediately following the saving of the current records and this onReset function is called within the OnSave procedure. So when I save the current changes, I loose the values in the p_session. Any PL/SQL code I write after OnSave, does not get any p_session value.
    Interestingly, in case of just one table form, the OnReset is not within the OnInsert function and it is possible to get the p_session values. OnReset runs after OnInsert and within this two functions we can write any pl/sql code on the Insert button PL/SQL handler.
    I have the following questions:
    1. Why is the procedure written differently in case of master-detail form ? Why is the OnReset inside the OnSave ? How do we write codes which we want to execute before onReset and after OnSave ?
    2. I want to run a procedure after onSave and before OnReset. How do I do that ? Do I have to change the package manually ?
    3. If the above is not possible, I can also try to store the values I need to run the procedure before I save in some variable. How do I do that ? It seems I cannot declare variables to store session values inside the pl/sql event code on Save button, because it gives me error. The variable declaration code goes in between the begin and end of genesys.. procedure and that is not allowed in pl/sql
    Please help me with this. I definitely need to run a procedure after saving for almost all of my forms. Otherwise I am not sure what to do with my development. I am completely stuck with this. Thanks a lot for helping me out.

         URL Target: javascript:var rc = window.showModalDialog('f?p=&APP_ID.:70:&SESSION.::&DEBUG.:::','','resizable:yes;center:yes;dialogWidth:1000px;dialogHeight:500px;');
    On the called page:
    The called page is an IR report where the query returns this as one of the columns:
    *(Note: I had to put a dot '.' in front of the onclick to get it to show in this thread. It is not there in my real code.)*
    select
    <a href="#" name="z" style="color:blue; text-decoration:underline;" .onclick="javascript:passBack(''' || LOT_NO ||''');">Select</a>' SelectThis
    , column1
    , column2
    from sometablename;This resolves the anchor to:
    <a .onclick="javascript:passBack('232158');"  href="#">Select</a>Here is the Javascript function that is called from the anchor onclick:
    function passBack(passVal1)
      opener.document.getElementById("P75_ITEM1").value = passVal1;
      close();
    }When I run this in Firefox, it works as expected. I click on the button on the parent page. The modal dialog is opened and the IR report is displayed. I click on one of the links in the report and it returns the correct value back to the calling page and closes the modal dialog.
    When I run it in IE8, it fails. I click on the button on the parent page. The modal dialog is opened and the IR report is displayed. I click on one of the links in the report and I get this error: “opener.document is null or not an object”.
    I hope that is clear and that someone can help.
    Thanks
    Larry

    A quick google search determines that window.opener doesn't exists when using window.showModalDialog
    Suggestions range from using window.open instead of window.showModalDialog to using dialogArguments instead of window.opener
    Try the following:
    In the parent page define a getPopupValue() function:
    function getPopupValue(){
       var dr =  window.showModalDialog('f?p=&APP_ID.:70:&SESSION.::&DEBUG.:::','','resizable:yes;center:yes;dialogWidth:1000px;dialogHeight:500px;');
        if ( (dr != undefined) && (dr != '') && (dr != false) ){
         $x("P75_ITEM1").value = dr;
    }Change the button url to call the function:
    javascript:getPopupValue(); On the popup page change the passback function to:
    function passBack(passVal1)
      returnValue = passVal1;
      close();
    }

  • Bex query that returns variable number of columns based upon variable value

    I have a request to create a query that, at excution time, has a variable for 'nbr of months', and based on the value entered by the user, returns data for only the specified number of months. Value that can be entered can vary from 1 to 12. A simple example is, if the user enters 1, then they would only want to see one column, and if they entered 6, then they'd like to see 6 columns in the workbook.  All suggestions on how to implement this dynamic columns on a workbook will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Do this->
    1) first create a New Structure in Rows-> Place your New Selection and drag your KF.
    2) Nw Create a New Formual under this structure. Now Create a Formula variable ( "ZFVXXX")with user-entry and ready for input and dimension as NUmber. and place in formula area. And hide this formula.
    3)Now Create a New Customer-Exit variable on 0CALMONTH name as "ZCECMON" with following atrribute->Mandatory, Range(Interval) and remove check for Ready for entry.
    4)Drag your 0CALMONTH in Rows above That Structure and restrict it to "ZCECMON".
    5) Now go to CMOD and write this code.
    INCLUDE ZXRSRU01 *
    DATA: L_S_RANGE TYPE RSR_S_RANGESID. 'In global area
    DATA: LOC_VAR_RANGE LIKE RRRANGEEXIT. 'In global area
    DATA: zmonth like /bi0/0calmonth.
    CASE I_VNAM.
    WHEN 'ZCECMON'.
    IF i_step = 2.
    LOOP AT I_T_VAR_RANGE INTO LOC_VAR_RANGE
    WHERE VNAM = 'ZFVXXX'.
    zyear = sy-datum(4).
    zmonth = sy-datum+4(2).
    l_s_range-low = zmonth.
    zmonth = zmonth + loc_var_range-low.
    l_s_range-HIgh = zmonth.
    l_s_range-sign = 'I'.
    l_s_range-opt = 'BT'.
    APPEND l_s_range TO e_t_range.
    ENDIF.
    ENDCASE.
    6) activate the porject and go to rsrt and run there first.
