  • Database Link to Mysql Database.

    Hi Guys.
I need to Create a Database Link a Mysql database that is running over a Red Hat server to my Oracle 10g Database that is running over SUSE. I Have an Application server where the user runs forms and Report. The user access the Application Server that allow them to connect to Oracle Database because is a web Environtment. I would like to access MYSQL database to pull our some data to create a couple of Views for my Users.
    Thanks in Advance.

PD: do I need to configure some ODBC or just modify my tnsname.ora file???

add a space to each line in the SID section of your listener - only GTW_LISTENER and SID_LIST_GTW_LISTENER are valid commands to start at the first position in the file.
In addition please remove that line from your gateway init file: HS_FDS_SHAREABLE_NAME=C:\Program Files\MySQL\Connector ODBC 5.2\myodbc5w.dll
HS_FDS_SHAREABLE_NAME is used on Unix to specify the ODBC Driver Manager - as you're on Windows where Windoes ships a valid ODBC Driver Manager you don't need to specify that parameter.manager. In addition please remove the set ODBCINI parameter as the Windows ODBC Driver Manager uses the registry. So make sure you have created a 64bit ODBC system DSN using the 64bit MySQL ODBC driver (it has to be the 64bit ODBC driver as you're on a 64bit Windows using a 64bit DG4ODBC)

  • Links in the database

    Hi,
I wanted to display links in the database, for example
    HTML file
    one<br>
    two
When i see the result in the browser, i get
    one
    two
So, now I need the same result in my programme. I wanted to fetch the values from the database and show them to the user and have links added to the values. Can any one help me?
    Thanks

If I understand the question there are two parts.
Step 1 - you want to store a url in the database and then get it back out.
Step 2 - you want to display the url in a gui and allow a user to click on it and then display it.
    Step 1 is rather easy:
-Create a table named "DisplayLink" with one field name "url". See your database docs for this.
    -Populate the table
-Extract from the table using the "select url from DisplayLink". See the jdbc tutorial on this http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/guide/jdbc/getstart/GettingStartedTOC.fm.html
    - Put the results of the above into an ArrayList and then go to step 2.
Step 2 might be easy or might not. But it doesn't have anything to do with JDBC so you might ask in a GUI forum.

  • Database link between the databases with the same name

    Hi,
I need to establish a db link between two databases that are named the same way on two different servers.
    server 1 has a database dev1 and server2 has a database dev1. The tnsnames on server2:
    DEV1 =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = server2)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = DEV1)
    DEV1_server1 =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = server1)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = dev1)
Can anyone let me know a way to create a database link between the two above?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Am not sure what problem you are facing in creating a db link
create database link dev1_server1 connect to x identified by x using "dev1_server1"
create database link dev1_server2 connect to x identified by x using "dev1_server2"where dev1_server1 and dev2_server2 are the tns entry in tnsnames.ora file of server2 and server1 respectively.

  • DW CS4 Links to MSSQL Database, sees fields/data but won't display on webpage

I'm trying to get a Dynamic Data Table to show in my webpage but I can't.  (Using ASP JavaScript)
I'm using DW CS4 (10.0 build 4117) and connecting to an MSSQL database on a Windows platform server hosted by Verio.
I can successfully link to the database, I can see my data correctly when I bind the record set and do a "Test SQL Statement" , see images below:
My Design View of the page with the table shows the correct fields and looks like:
Everything should look when I switch to Live View or view the page on a browser, right??  Well instead I get this:
If the pic is unclear it says:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified
    /Test2009/Untitled-1.asp, line 5
Line 5 of course refers to the ActiveConnection command which uses the INCLUDE file for the connection string.
    The Line 5 is
    Recordset1_cmd.ActiveConnection = MM_PMCDonSQL_STRING;
    And the INCLUDE reverenced is:
    var MM_PMCDonSQL_STRING = "dsn=PMCSQL1;uid=pmcapp0010sql;pwd=FloraVista49;"
These are parameters for logging into the MSSQL database (This is just a test database so showing password doesn't matter)":
    Server By Name:  SQLExpress4.mql14000.MSSQLServers.com,1433\SQLExpress4
    Server By IP:  128.121.85.21,1433\SQLExpress4
    Database Name:  pmcapp0010
    Login ID:  pmcapp0010sql
    Password: FloraVista49
    WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?

No one wanted to help me but I figured out that I was not referencing the DSN on the test server, only the local DSN.
The information to connect to the MSSQL database given by my hosting company was not correct for Dreameweaver (or MS Access) either.

  • I have taken pictures of items that are linked to a database that I am building.  How can I bypass importing into iPhoto and simply downloading the images as "files" not "photos" so I can access them with my database?  thanx.

I have taken pictures with both my Sony camera and my iPhone of items that are linked to a database that I am building, as well as my website.  How can I bypass importing the images into iPhoto and simply downloading the images as "files" not "photos" so I can access them with my database?  thanx.

If your Sony has a removable memory card you can use a card reader to copy the image files from to a folder on your Desktop and then move them anywhere you'd like.
Since the iPhone doesn't have a removable memory card you can try using Image Capture to see if you can manually upload the files to a folder on the Desktop.
If you have to import the photos, which are image files, into iPhoto you can then export them out of iPhoto to the Desktop and go from there to your database.  Just because they are in iPhoto doesn't prevent you from using them elsewhere.

  • Linking Table Between Database

How can I link my table to 1 view in other database?
I know, we can estalish the connection but I don't know how to do that.
    Please help,
    Thank You,

What do you mean "link"? You can create a database link
    CREATE [PUBLIC] DATABASE LINK database_link_name
      CONNECT TO username_on_remote_machine
      IDENTIFIED BY password_on_remote_machine
USING 'tns_alias_to_remote_database'and query tables across the database link. You cannot, however, define foreign key constraints across instances, which is a good thing considering the performance implications of doing so.

  • Not able to create a database link using the database gateway of oracle 11g

    HI,
While trying to create a database link to SQL server from Oracle ,using the database gateway provided with 11g, i am getting the following error while making use of it in selecting columns from tables :
Error starting at line 1 in command:
    select * from test1@dblink
    Error at Command Line:1 Column:20
    Error report:
SQL Error: ORA-28513: internal error in heterogeneous remote agent
    ORA-02063: preceding line from DBLINK
These are the steps i have followed for setting up:
1.Ran the set up for the Database gateway.and mentioned the SQL server name and database .ALos set up a listener.
    2. Added the following in the Listener.ora of Oraclehome 11/NETWORK/ADMIN:
    LISTENER_SQL_FCD =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST =localhost) (PORT = 1541)
    SID_LIST_LISTENER_SQL_FCD =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME=dg4msql)
    (ORACLE_HOME= D:\app\20537\product\11.1.0\db_3)
    (PROGRAM=dg4msql)
    3.Added the following in tnsnames.ora inOracle home/NETWORK/ADMIN:
    dg4msql=
    (DESCRIPTION=
    (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=localhost)(PORT=1541))
    (CONNECT_DATA=(SID=dg4msql))
    (HS=OK)
    4. Following is the entry in initdg4msql.ora in C:\product\11.1.0\tg_5\dg4msql\admin:
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO=10.148.45.242:1433//SalesDemo
    HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL=DEBUG
    HS_FDS_RECOVERY_ACCOUNT=RECOVER
    HS_FDS_RECOVERY_PWD=RECOVER
    5. Created the database link :
    create database link dblink
connect to "sa" identified by "<pswd>"
    using 'dg4msql'
On running :select * from test1@dblink i get the following error:
Error starting at line 1 in command:
    select * from test1@dblink
    Error at Command Line:1 Column:20
    Error report:
SQL Error: ORA-28513: internal error in heterogeneous remote agent
    ORA-02063: preceding line from DBLINK
Is there any issue with the set or definition that I get the above error?

What is the version of the Oracle database in which you have specified/and use the database link?
If it is for example 10.2.0.3.0 you need to apply the mandatory patch for RDBMS bug 5965763 first before being able to use an 11g gateway. Have a look at MetaLink note 457808.1 for details about this patch.

  • Link to part database?

    Hello,
I recently attempted to replace a cracked display on a laptop (15-j170us) and in doing so damaged a pin in the display ZIF connector. I'm attempting to find the system board part number for my exact model and the service manual lists 5 possible parts. Is there an HP parts database link that will allow me to enter my produce information and get the exact part number and cost for a replacement system board?
    Thanks,

  • Access Report Link to SQL database

    Hi,
I have been designing a report interface in Access that is supposed to retrieve data from an SQL Database. The problem is that i don't know how to connect the two so that it (report) retrieves data from the database. How do I connect the two?
    martin

    Hi breakage,
Based on my understanding, you want to connect to a SQL Server database on Access side, then retrieve the data from the database.
When connecting to a SQL Server database, Access creates a new table (linked table), and it's structure and contents are corresponding to the source object. In your scenario, you can open the Access database in which you want to create the linked tables,
then choose External Data tab. With the wizard, you can link the expected SQL Server database. For more information, please refer to the
Link to SQL Server data section of this article:
Import or link Access to SQL Server data .
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • DB Link vs Direct Database Connection

    Hi All,
We have two database, for the purpose of this example PROD and DEV, being a production and devlopment database respectively.
We have noticed developers logging into the PROD database, doing their query development. We have asked them to do their query developement
on the DEV database. We have created a DB Link in the DEV database to the PROD database to allow them to query up-to-date data.
My question is... What is the performance benefit of a direct connection into the PROD database querying data as opposed to a connection into the DEV
database querying data on PROD using the DB Link.
    thanks
    Melvyn

    Hi..
We have noticed developers logging into the PROD database, doing their query development. We have asked them to do their query developementon the DEV database. We have created a DB Link in the DEV database to the PROD database to allow them to query up-to-date data.>
Thats very wrong. The dev team can do any thing on production and if somethings does wrong blames will be on you.SO don't provide any access to the dev team.Right now i can think of 2 options as you want to give the dev taem up-to-date data
    1. Use oracle streams. The best replication method.Go for uni-directional oracle stream replication from prod. to dev.
    2. If the dev team need to do select only on the prod. tables then create a new schema, give that schema only select privilege on main schema's table and then create the dblink from that user

  • 'Scheduler' link in Oracle Database Control

    Hi all,
In Oracle Database Control, I cannot see link to "Scheduler" under Administration tab page as described in the documentation or a link to "Manage Current Backups"
How can I obtain those links?
Please note that I'm speaking about Oracle EM Databse Control (that shipped with the datbase CD itself) and not the Database Grid Control product.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ahmed B.

I have the same problem with Grid Control 10.1.0.4 on Sun Solaris 9. Target database are 10.1.0.4.0 64-bit, also on Solaris 9 64-bit. As described in Help, under "Administration" tab is sub-tab "Scheduler" with following links: Jobs, Schedules, Programs, Job Classes, Windows, Window Groups.
Who knows, what I need to do for resolving this issue? I need scheduler administration!

  • Database link from 10g database to 8i

Is it possible to create a database link from 10g(10.1.0) to talk to a 8i(8.1.7) database?
I'm using a database link between a 9i database to 8i database, and would like to upgrade the 9i database to 10g. I created a link in 10g and kept getting the error message: ORA-02019: connection description for remote database not found, but I have an entry for my database in the tnsnames.or on the 10g database server.
    Message was edited by:
    linghleong

My database version is 8.1.7.0, and I couldn't get to the point to select any data like the situation mentioned in the link.
I also tried to create a db link to a 9i(9.2.0) database, I got the same error message. I must have some issue other than linking from 10g to 8i. Any advice?
    Thanks!
