Filtrix coversion software

Has anyone used this software. Someone sent me the link and I have tried the demo. I have Interleaf (QS) files that I want to convert to FM files. I continue to get errors and have yet to make a file at all. Yes, I have made it an aschi file, I have saved as version 5, 6, and, 7.
Right now I am saving my files out as interleaf 5 and opening them in FM, but there is quite a bit of clean up and of course I have to get every graphic out by opening a pdf in illustrator or photoshop, cleaning up the graphic and saving them as the appropriate file. Was hoping Filtrix might be a miricle tool...lol!!!
Anyone know of this software or a better way of converting from Interleaf to FM?

Well, I finally got a file converted. Don't know what I was doing wrong. Anyway....it is not a file to work
with! Awful!!!
I have been opening my interleaf files in FM, it is just alot of clean up, but the tables come over great!! I get rid of the pics and junk before I bring it over to framemaker. Only real problem is all the marker (or whatever they are called) are brought over and I have tried to delete them in the find and change and they don't delete. I manual have to delete them out of each step and then of course change it to the correct para tag. I will try the pdf to rtf, but it seems I had the same problem opening word files like that.

Help with Coversion Software

Just bought a new 60Gig.I have Nero Recode 2. It will convert DVD to MPEG-4 and it will play with Nero software. When I import to iTunes it is pixelated and audio and video are not in sync. Sorry if this has already been answered I went back and looked over several days of threads and could not find an answer. It appears to convert to Nero-digital MPEG4.If anybody knows how to please advise. Thanks

Sound in video not in sync

I just recently purchased Lenogo DVD to Ipod coversion software, and it converted the videos BUT the sound is faster than the movie. IS there any way to fix this problem? Also, sometimes the video jumps and a little choppy. Any suggestions?

Canon hfs20 1080 50i vs 25PF Final Cut Pro X Project settings

I apologise in advance if this is a newbie frustrating question....
But I have been searching and reading....and reading....and just cant seem to work it out.
I have a Canon hfs 20 legria (PAL version) camera.
I have purchased Final Cut Pro X.
The camera highest quality settings are 1080 50i or 1080 25pf.
Now, I think I understand the difference between interlaced and progressive (did some reading on the net).
What confuses me, is when I import the footage from the camera...into final cut pro X
I shot some footage at 1080 50i. ( it is intended to be used as a music video, eventually)
When I imported the footage into FCPX i let it set the project properties, taking it from the footage shot.
Expecting the project would set itself, to 1080i 50i.
I check the project properties, and they say its 1920 X 1080i 25i ( now from my reading, i assumed if it was gonna set 25 anything, it would have been 25p)
I then copied the project, and manually set its settings, to 1920 X 1080p 25p
When I play either project, and look at them in the viewer, I cant see a difference. (Now that is probably attributed to the fact that I am a newbie and dont know what I am looking for in the first place)
Now, also during my searching, I came across a plethora of people, selling coversion software, for the canon hfs20 to get it into FCP. Now I cant tell if this was prior to FCPX , and now FCPX handles my cameras footage. To be honest, from what I had read, I kinda didnt expect my footage to import, and was pleasantly surprised when it did.
So, on to my questions, you say...8)
My cameras highest quality settings, are 1080 50i or 1080 25p
I wish to get the best footage I can, and have it set so it works well with FCP X.
I dont shoot, sports, hummingbirds etc...its mainly me, sitting playing the guitar, long walks on the beach, looking longingly into the distance...8)
Which settings would work best, and what should my project be set at , in FCPX to deal with those settings.
Final delivery, will be, internet, Beta tape for TV broadcast, possibly DVD but that is a distant 3rd.
Look, I know this is probably a frustrating question, but I would really love some help. Audio, i get, Video makes my head spin..8)

Importing Panasonic HDC-SD90 in iMovie

I'm truing to import Panasonic HDC-SD90 videofootage in iMovie, can do that only through conversion by iVI (Third Party coversion software). Has ther been improvement from Appel to convert HD movie directly from camera? iMAc 10.6.6. + iMovie 11. P.s.

So -- is it possible to import from the HDC-SD90 to iMovie?
I'm using iMovie '11 9.0.4.
When I insert an SDHC card with movies on it from the HDC-SD90, iMovie opens the import dialog, but Import All.. is greyed out, and I can't select any of the movies in manual mode.
Do I need to change settings on the camera? The movies are shown in iMovie with 60p with a red stop symbol over the top. (Excuse my ignorance -- I don't know much about video recording formats.)
The HDC-SD90 appears on Apple's list of supported cameras for iMovie '11.
(I'm in the UK, so assuming this is PAL...)

Podcast equipment and software

Hi, I'm sure that this question has been asked numerous time but I cannot find the specific answers that I need.
I'm looking at starting up a podcast and I have some technical questions about equipment. Most of the time, I will be having two hosts in the same location working off the same computer. What I would like is to have a setup where one host will have a headset and a separate microphone and an audio mixer that controls the whole setup. The other host will have a headset and separate microphone also. On some podcasts, I would like the option of also having a remote gues who would have their own headset and mic and would be contributing to the show through Skype.
Here's my specific questions:
What kind of mixer would work in this scenario? Is there such a thing as a USB audio board that would take all of these sources and put them into the software (garageband) as well as output audio to the headphones? Or is there an adapter that I could use to plug the mixing board into my Macbook?
Will Garage band accept the audio from both mics, the sound from the computer (in case I want to play an audio clip on the computer) as well as the Skype call? If not Garageband, then what other software should I use?
Roger Wilmut1, I've seen your links to bullets and bones but I need more input than just a link to a site that doesn't answer these specific questions. Any help from you would be appreciated however as you seem knowledgeable about this topic.

There's a wide range of mixers available. You could look at the Alesis range: most of these come with a USB output as well as an audio one. You can plug the audio output of a mixer into the line input of your Mac (assuming it has one, a few don't) or the Alesis USB output goes straight into your Mac and will be recognized by any recording software straightaway (and indeed this should apply with any mixer with a USB output: check that it says that it does so in the specs).
On the whole I wouldn't recommend using headsets: these are really designed for communications use. For the best results I would suggest either one microphone which you share, or two separate cardiod ones, and then separate headphones for monitoring. You will want to connect the headphones to the mixer's monitoring output, not the computer output.
If you really want to use headsets you should make sure that they will be compatible with the mixer. At the least you will need coversion jacks as these usually use 3.5mm and the mixer will probably use 1/4 in jacks or phono plugs (RCA jacks).
You might find it easier to record initially into a separate program such as Amadeus Pro: this will record from the mixer and you should not enable 'playthrough'. Then you would be able to play files off the computer (or have Skype running) - you would connect the computer's audio output to the mixer and bring it in that way. (If you enable playthrough you will bring the mixer's output back into the mix and you will wish you hadn't).
However you can record this way into Garageband, though you may not be able to record and play inserts from GB at the same time. However for editing you will find GB a bit clumsy - Amadeus would be much better for cleaning up fluffs. GB is good for adding inserts or mixing in post-production.
With this sort of setup Skype should work OK. However if you use the mixer output as the input to Skype the other end may have problems with echo - you will have to experiment to find the best way of dealing with this.

If the software is in the HD>Applications folder it's available to everyone. If for some reason you put software into User>Applications folder it will be available only to that user.

Brand new IPOD Touch Apps no longer work after upgrading software

I got a Ipod touch for my wife Today at Wal-Mart. I brought it home, connected to wifi and downloaded some apps and also payed for some. They all worked fine. Then I connected to computer to transfer songs. It told me to upgrade the Ipod software so i Did. After it restarted none of the downloaded apps work anymore. I have read MANY MANY MANY discussions on this and there is no fix. I am not wiping out all the songs and reload everything all over again. It will take forever. My wifes BD is Friday and this is making me so mad after I just dropped $300 on this thing. APPLE!!! Where is the fix? I deleted the apps and reinstalled they still don't work. Anybody got this figured out? I am getting ready to get my money back and tell everyone to avoid buying ipod until they get this upgrade bug fixed.

I have the same problem. Brand new two days ago. I synched the touch with Itunes but wasn't hooked up to the internet at the time so didn't do the software upgrade right away. Then I downloaded about a dozen apps (free and paid) with wifi directly to the touch. They all worked fine. Then I plugged it back in to Itunes and had it upgrade it to 3.1.2. It locked up Itunes several times since then and the downloaded apps no longer work (they start to open then disappear).
The problem is, no one is listening to this problem (including Anna above)! Everyone says "just do a hard reboot, or restore to factory settings, reload the apps, etc." I've tried all the standard troubleshooting but none of it fixes this. It sure seems to me this is a problem with 3.1.2 but Apple isn't helping out here. Where are you APPLE? Use some of those outrageous profits you're making to fix the problem you have created. Here's $300 of my hard earned dollars pretty much down the drain.

Step-by-Step Help Needed for Deploying Some Adobe Software

We are a K-12 educational institution. I am currently working at setting up a computer lab with about 16 MacMini computers.
I'm VERY new to the realm of servers, deployment, using terminal, etc.
I've done lots of research to make it to where I am, but just can't wrap my head around what needs done next with the Adobe products.
I am using Server OSX (v3) and DeployStudio (v 1.6.3) to try and manage the computers.
Both my server and clients are running Mavericks 10.9.
I deployed my core images successfully and would like to now send Adobe products only the computers I choose since I have limited licenses.
We have volume licenses of Adobe InDesign CS6 and Photoshop Elements 12 that we would like to deploy.
I have been referencing the following sites, but just can't seem to wrap my head around the EXACT steps that need to be taken.

How to find licence number to activate software ?

I have just bought the Adobe creative Cloud for enterprise.
I had download the creative cloud and now each software is asking for a licence number but I can't find it.
And I have no acces to Adobe Licensing website to get one.

There is no serial number needed to activate the Creative Cloud, the Adobe ID will be used to activate the product.
As the product mentioned is Cloud for Enterprise, you have to verify first if your Adobe ID (email address) has been assigned to the user rights.

If you have already proceeded the the previous steps, please try the steps below then:
1. Clean Up cached user login information
Close the Creative Cloud application.
Navigate to the OOBE folder.
Windows: [System drive]:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE
Mac OS: /Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE
Delete the opm.db file.
Launch Creative Cloud.
2. Reset the Hosts file
Windows
Choose Start > Run, type %systemroot% \system32\drivers\etc, and then press Enter.
Right-click the hosts file and select Open. Select Notepad for the application to open the hosts file.
Back up the hosts file: Choose File > Save As, save the file as hosts.backup, and then click OK.
Search the hosts file for entries that reference Adobe (for example, 127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com) and delete these entries.
Save and close the file.
Mac OS
Log in as an administrator to edit the hosts file in Mac OS.
In a Finder window, choose Go > Go To Folder.Type /etc.
Select the hosts file and open it.
Back up the hosts file: Choose File > Save As, save the file as hosts.backup, and then click OK.
Search the hosts file for entries that reference Adobe (for example, 127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com) and delete these entries.
Save and close the file.

Text delete options since software update

I've recently updated the software to 10.3.1.1565 and a new option appeared for text messaging. when i closed a message and went back to the list of text messages the delete symbol appeared next to the text for a few seconds. This was useful. Now, I have somehow (without knowing i've done it) changed the settings and instead of the delete symbol i'm getting the Reply symbol. How do i change it back to the delete symbol?

After upgrading your stock ROM you always need to do a factory data reset, if your phone doesn't do it for you. Then you can simply choose which sounds you want for the notification in the settings. You can download the Swype keyboard, or several various similar to Swype, from the Play Store. I liked Kii and used it for a long time.

Mid-2009 MBP Has Been Hard Freezing, I think it may be the SSD or software?

Please read this fully so you don't end up suggesting something I've already tried.
I have the Mid-2009 version of the 13" MBP that I received in December 2009. Almost two years ago, I upgraded it to8 GB of RAM and a 256 GB SSD. Everything has been running smoothly until about 2 or so weeks ago. My computer has been having hard freezes, meaning, it's not simply an application freezing up; force quit doesn't work, the clock stops ticking, the whole system freezes. It was very predictable too. Whether i was watching youtube videos with flash, reading online articles without it (I have ad block) or doing something completely non-flash or web related, my computer would hard freeze after about an hour or two or so of use, requiring a hard reset (holding the power button until it turned off and then restarting).
I did some research on this and from what I initially found I thought it was problems with the motherboard. However, I found that to be odd because my motherboard was replaced by Apple in September 2012. I read somewhere to try a system hardware diagnostic test (press D upon start up). On the short hardware test, the one that only takes a few minutes, it passed without any problems. Then I tried the longer hardware test, the one that says takes more than an hour. I put that one on and left it alone. I came back every so often and checked on it and it was fine at first. The mouse responded and the test was showing some measurable progress. However I came back, and at 2 hours 11 minutes and 59 seconds into the hardware test, it froze without completing it.
Then I tried doing something everyone says to do when anything happens: I repaired disk permissions. I did that, and according to Disk utility everything went rather swimmingly. However, that didn't fix anything,in fact, it made things slightly worse. Ever since I reset disk permissions, everytime I open Safari, it freezes immediately, and that has only happened since I repaired disk permissions. My home page is about:blank, if anyone was wondering. I've only discovered this happening with Safari as of now. I switched Chrome as my primary web browser for now.
Being the resourceful person I am, I tried to isolate the problem. My sister, luckily, has an identical MBP. First, using target disk on my computer, I booted my SSD onto her computer - this is to see if the problem was HDD/SSD related or motherboard related. When I booted my SSD onto her computer the same problems occurred: Safari froze upon start up, and then computer would hard freeze after about two hours. However, when I booted her HDD onto my computer via target disk, there were no problems. Safari opened just fine and I used her computer for several hours without issue.
At this point, I was pretty sure it was the SSD, but I thought it was possibly a bad Sata cable or something. But nope. Last night, I switched harddrives completely. No target Disk. I put my SSD in her computer and put her HDD in my computer. I got the same results as target disk. It can't be the motherboard or memory, because both computers worked fine with my sisters harddrive. Only the computer booted off of the SSD would have these problems.
At this point I think it could be two possibilities
A) Either the SSD itself is starting to become defective
B) Some software component of my SSD is buggy
I think it could be something software related because why would Safari and safari only freeze after launch, but no other apps? Also something of note, these problems were happening, I tried to see if doing anything with software update would help, updated everything that needed to be updated, and these problems still occurred.
What do you guys think? anyone have an idea of what it could be? Any suggestions of how I handle this? Applecare is expired. I'm considering doing a clean install but I'm not fully backed up yet and I don't want to waste my time and have it not work. But I also don't want to buy a new hard drive or SSD and have it do the same things. And I'm not getting a new computer if the only problem with it is contained within the storage unit, whether that problem is within the software or hardware related.

EDIT: this information may be of interest: currently have 19.51 GB of available space (out of 256 GB). At one point, about a month and a half or so ago, my storage was as low as 9 or so GB free.
I am running OSX 10.6.8

I have tried making a new user account like you suggested. It fixed the Safari problem; Safari opened and played video just fine. However, the computer still hard freezed after about 2 hours. I am about to back up my computer via time machine after this (hopefully it'll finish before it hard freezes again, I haven't backd up in more than a year). If that doesn't work, I guess I'll have to move folders individually onto an external. I will proceed after backup with a clean install as that is my only other option for now.
However, after a clean install, should I restore directly from time machine? I would think wiping the hard drive and replacing it with what's on time machine wouldn't solve the problem because the inherent corruption is being restored. However, what about just restoring my User folder? What would the process be for getting everything back to normal as quickly as possible? Do you know of any good ways to get my apps and other preferences back to normal ASAP without corrupting anything? Will I have to re-register anything? For example, I have Adobe CS4 that I received from my highschool IT department. I have since graduated, so I don't have the disc or any of the password codes. Would it be risky to restore the application support folder (because that's where the bug may lie)? Or if I just drag just drag apps, would that still work or is the application support necessary too?

Phone not working after the software upgrade

I performed the software upgrade as indicated by the phone in the notifications.
One the phone rebooted, I proceeded to enter my email accounts and it froze on a white screen with a spinning wheel.
I rebooted and it continued to freeze.
I took the battery out, rebooted, still can't add email accounts. It freezes in the setting section. I actually can't change any settings.
If I reply to a text, the screen freezes black.
If I try to reply to an email, the screen says, "Could not display this message"
I have wiped it three times, powered off a billion times and still keeps freezing. The update has been nothing but grief.
Any advice??
