Final Cut Sending the wrong clip to Shake

In a project i'm currently working on i've selected clips and used the "send to shake" function. When shake launches, the project has totally different clips but from the same FCP project.
Has any one seen this before? Any advise would be great.
Thanks

Sending Media Back to Final Cut Pro
When you’ve finished working in the Shake script that was generated from Final Cut Pro, you need to render the originally created FileOut node. The newly rendered media file takes the place of the placeholder QuickTime file, ready for use by the original Final Cut Pro project.
When you reopen the Final Cut Pro project file containing the original placeholder QuickTime file, you’ll need to use the Reconnect Media command to relink the clip in your sequence to the media that was rendered out of Shake.

  • Rendering - Final Cut will not render clips under any of the 3 choices?

Final Cut will not render clips mov, or dv under any of the 3 choices, including stuff I have done before.

I realize your problem is solved, but I thought I would post this is case it might helps others in the future.
Under Sequence-->Render--> OR Sequence-->Render All--> OR Sequence-->Render Only--> make sure you have check marks next to all the different video types ("Needs Render", "Proxy", etc).
If there is no check mark, then the video won't render - and this can sometimes seem random, like what happened in your case.

  • Importing Final Cut Pro 10.1 clips to the Media Browser

I am trying to use my video in my iBook story and I can't find how to share my Final Cut Pro 10.1 clips with the Media Browsers.  Has anyone run into this problem?  I was at a One to One today and it stumped us all.  Sharon

I am trying to use my video in my iBook
    From the help files....
Video and audio files: M4V, M4ANote:  For the Media widget, you can add a video file or an audio file (in a format QuickTime supports) to your book. You can convert other types of files using iMovie, QuickTime Player, or Compressor. For the HTML widget, the suggested file formats are MP4 video files and M4A audio files.

  • Captivate 7 module sending the wrong interaction data to the LMS

Here's an interesting one: (I hope!)
I have a test created using Captivate 7 that is sending the wrong interaction data to the LMS (tested in Moodle and in SCORM Cloud).
The test module was based on a previous module by using File, Save As to create a copy which was then modified.
When the interaction data in the logs and reports is analysed it contains the questions and answers from that previous module. Even though the current module has totally different Qs and As (and a different number of them).
I'm starting to think that File, Save As was not a good move...
Very grateful for any pointers on this
    Regards Simon

    thanks
Unfortunately the cmi.interactions in the log are still set to the wrong values. I wonder if I turned off reporting, republished, then turned reporting on again... mm...
    Ok - that didn't work
Now I'm getting parser errors in the imsmanifest.xml file
    hmmm...

  • When using Final Cut Express, the video in the Viewer window looks fine, but when I insert the video into the Canvas Timeline it appears to lose resolution, and look fuzzy and blurry. Are there preferences or settings for the Timeline that cause this?

When using Final Cut Express, the video in the Viewer window looks fine, but when I insert the video into the Canvas Timeline it appears to lose resolution, and look fuzzy and blurry. Are there preferences or settings for the Timeline that cause this?

Thanks David. I had to convert the mts file to Quick Time (using AunSoft Conversion software) before I could import it into Final Cut Express. And I made sure I kept the size of movie (720 X 480 with letterbox) to compliment what I set my Panaconic AVCCAM video recorder at (720/60). Even after I fully render it, it still looks fuzzy in the Canvas window at the right that plays what I have editing down in the Timeline. A friend that edits some using Final Cut Pro helped me to narrow things down to this problem. This is also wierd. If my Viewer window at the left is set to 200% to get the person's head the same size in the Canvas window at the right we needed to put it to 400%. Does this make any sense. We think we need to control the Time line resolution somehow but cannot find any options from my manual, or the help, or in the various drop down menus. Do you have any clue? What is going on?

    Final Cut Pro is an app for Macs and not an iOS app for an iPhone or iPad. You will need the link for Apple software volume licensing for education. That information and the phone number to call is available on this webpage;

  • Can I reinstall Final Cut X the correct way?

I downloaded Final Cut X and Motion 5 thinking they would sit on my Mac Pro Desktop until I installed them.  I would then follow the Apple partiitioning instructions.  Unfortunately, it appears that they both installed as they downloaded.  I have not opened either yet.
    How can I start over?

Not sure if you are aware that Apple recommends a separate start-up disk installation when one has the earlier version of Final Cut Studio.  Or, they recommend partitioning a single start-up drive.  I did neither thinking that after I downloaded the software I would be able to then install it after I prepared the disk.  Hence, the dowload apparently has already installed causing me to hesitate to open the new version since Apple suggests keeping the old and new version very separate, which I have not done.
How might I fix this problem?  This is why I asked "Can I reinstall Final Cut X the correct way?"

  • Exporting sequence from Final Cut Pro 7, some clips are pixellated and bad quality, does this have anything to do with the fact that I changed those clips speed?

    Hello,
Bit of a beginner using Final Cut Pro 7
Am currently trying to export a sequence using quicktime conversion.  Sequence has various filters and effects over it and when I export it some of the clips are pixellated and appear to have not exported correctly.  From what I can gather the affected clips have either been slowed down or made faster.  I am wondering whether this is the reason they have not exported correctly
    Any help would be appreciated
    Cheers

    More information needed.
    Codec of material?
    Sequence settings? (codec)
fwiw - do not use quicktime conversion. Use Export Quicktime with Current Settings enabled then do any format conversions in Compressor.

  • Final Cut Server not storing clip proxy in the database

FCS generates a clip proxy but doesn't store it in the database unless the user that installed FCS is logged into the server.
The error message I get is:
    ERROR: EREQERROR
Encountered error using Compressor: <Error>: kCGErrorFailure: Set a breakpoint @ CGErrorBreakpoint() to catch errors as they are logged.
I checked that the UID stored in the configuration file for FCS matches the UID of the user that installed FCS per the following:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3282
Note that the clip proxy is stored in the db as long as the user that installed FCS is logged into the server.
I am running FCS on a Mini and have a cluster of three minis running the compression. I've confirmed that it doesn't matter which node in the cluster does the transcode.
Has anybody else experienced this problem ? Have a solution ?

    Sorry about the delay.
Yes I can run compressions on the host using the GUI and the same cluster. I tried several different compressions and they worked without a hitch.
When I use FCS the compression also runs (I can find the transcoded clip file in the spool directory), and batch monitor says it was successful. The problem appears to be that FCS doesn't store it in the db unless I'm logged in to the host server.

  • Quicktime Error (-2000) after sending AppleProRes 422 clips to Shake

Hi there, I have been using FCP (7.02) and Shake (4.11) infrequently, mainly the smooth cam node with clips from my DV Camcorder. My new Full HD camcorder is recording AVCHD video which is transformed into Apple ProRes 422 when logged and transferred to FCP. After sending these sequences or clips to Shake, the node turns red and the clips don't show. In Shake's console appears an message related to the imported file which says <quicktime error (-2000)>.
Is there any way to solve this problem and does anyone know what causes it?

For what it's worth, QuickTime error -2000 means "Could not resolve data ref." Ordinarily I would assume that you were using reference movies but this clearly isn't the case.
It would seem that Final Cut Pro is formatting the movie clips in a way that Shake doesn't recognize so it might be worth recompressing in QuickTime or Compressor to see if that solves the issue.

  • Is Final Cut Pro the only software that can open video .MXF files for Macs?

    Hello,
Many thanks in advance for your attention.
Trying to find software that will edit .MXF Video Files to work with Mac.
As the edit is simple, prefer iMovie, but happy if the Conversion software only works with FCExpress (or even FCPro if that is the only alternative).
    1. If it matters, .MXF (Material Exchange Format) Video files came from shooting on a Panasonic 500 P2. Originally downloaded onto a Windows system, using Adobe Premiere.
    2. I just want to see and convert some of the shots I did for my Reel, etc., but I have a Mac.
    3. I have iMovie HD, iMovie 09, and FCExpress (which I don't know how to use that well).
    4. When I attach an External HD with backup files of all the footage shot, they show up named as .MXF files. They appear as VLC files (VLC icon), but the suffix is .MXF.
    5. When I try to play them as VLC files, they won't play. It seems they start to play, but then the VLC software quits.
    6. So I have tried downloading some software on the Internet that Google says converts .MXF files.
I tried: iSkysoft Video Converter, AVCWare Mac Video Converter, MPEG Streamclip, and a couple others. They all seem to have basically the same conversion setups, but when I click to pick one .MXF file, none of them recognize it. (The file in my Browse window is greyed out).
    7. MoyaVideo Converter for Mac recognizes the .MXF file, but when I hit the "conversion" button - I tried a couple different settings, all it seems to convert is the first frame. Even if the .MXF file says a clip is 123MB or 43 seconds long, etc.
    8. I can't even watch the clip in Preview. Press Play and it is just the first frame.
    9. I have read elsewhere in these forums, some people touting conversion software from a company in Germany - mfxformac. I am fine with paying for conversion software, but $500?
    10. And I have read elsewhere that only Final Cut Pro has a codec that will open .MXF files. If this is so, why do the above companies claim to have software that opens .MXF files for Mac?
    11. Isn't there a further problem if I can't even see the video using VLC? Or is that because I am using Mac and need FCPro with the right codec?
Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated.

MXF files from P2 can only be imported using FCP. iMovie can't, nor FCE...if you are talking about APPLE software. Avid deals with MXF files natively. But FCP will ONLY import them if the entire P2 card structure is intact. Please tell me that you have the entire P2 card backups. If not, then it won't work. If you do...then here is the process for importing into FCP:
    P2 Workflow with FCP 6
    3. I have iMovie HD, iMovie 09, and FCExpress (which I don't know how to use that well).
Then you need someone to provide you with QT files of this footage. None of them work with P2.
NONE of the converters you listed will work... Sorry.
    9. I have read elsewhere in these forums, some people touting conversion software from a company in Germany - mfxformac. I am fine with paying for conversion software, but $500?
That software is to get it to work with Final CUt Pro natively. What it doesn't do is convert the footage to QTs. There is also Raylight and Calibrated...but again, they are for FCP.
P2 is a professional format, and to use it you need professional software. iMovie won't work...nor will FCE. If you need to work with it in those formats, you need to have someone import the files and convert them to AIC (Apple Intermediate Codec).
HD Log might work...but not sure what QT format it converts to. A demo is available.

  • Final cut pro 7 hd clips

When I export a Quiktime file from Final Cut Pro 7, why do I get a mosaic effect on the edges of camera or subject movement (like blurred lines while the movement is happening in the clip)? Is there an export setting or sequence setting I am missing? Thank you for any assistance. I shoot on Canon Vixia HR20 in HD, and I allow FCP to modify sequence settings when I move the clips from the Browser to the Timeline. Thank you for ANY input. Curtis

Also, the camera records a highly compresed version of video. While it looks like FCP will accept these files in their native format, it really does not like them nor does it edit them without issues.
Best practice is to convert them to ProRes LT before bringing them into FCP. If the camera is supported by FCP, use Log and Transfer. If it isn't then Compressor or ClipWrap will usually work.
Once the material is in ProRes, you'll find editing moves much more smoothly with few issues on output.

  • Hi, i've made a video in final cut pro, the problem is that when i export it not the entire video is played, just the first 3 seconds

i made a video in final cut pro x. The entire thing isn't that long, however when it comes to sharing it only the very first few seconds are playe.
    Thanks,

see where the clip ends and then the timeline becomes black? when i add on an extra clip that line thing with the arrow does not move and if i try to export the video not all of it is played, just till that arrow.

  • Final Cut Pro: Ingested AVCHD clips are sometimes distorted

Apple has released this support info:
    Last Modified: February 03, 2009
    Article: TS2572
    Symptoms
AVCHD clips you transcode to ProRes from the Log and Transfer window are sometimes jumpy or distorted.
    Products Affected
Final Cut Pro 6.x, Perian Quicktime component
    Resolution
This may happen if you installed the Perian QuickTime component.
To temporarily disable Perian while using Final Cut Pro:
    Open System Preferences.
Click the Perian icon at the bottom of the System Preferences window.
Select the General tab in the Perian preference pane.
    Click Remove Perian.
If you would like to enable Perian after you finish working with your AVCHD clips, return to step four but click Install Perian to enable it.

    1. FCP does not work with material this is not "native". To see what "native" formats FCP supports, look at the standard presets. If you don't know what a FCP standard preset is, do some research. The Manual is a wonderful place to start.
    2. FCP does not work well when you play material from the system drive. Editable media MUST be stored on a non-system drive.
The key points to understand are - if your material is not a FCP native format (codec), convert it to one (pro res 422 works just fine) and use a non-system drive as your media storage/ playback drive.
If you do this and you still have problems, post back. We'll do what we can to help.

  • Sending FCP subclip to STP without sending the master clip!

I have a bunch of subclips I want to clean up in STP, but no matter what I've tried so far, I can't get it to just send the subclip, not the entire masterclip.
    Any suggestions?

Allow me to advise and seek help in same breath. My clip (with selection linked) cannot be send as STP as 'audio file' as it is greyed out but instead only as 'multitrack project'. Any reason why?
However each audio channel can be send to STP as an audio file individually (when selection is unlinked) and not both (shift selected) together. When one,
usually top channel, is 'send to' as audio file and saved (as . stap file), edited, and saved again, when back in FCP there is only that audio clip available, the other has disappeared. But it play the corrections but sounds weird (I guess
as the other channel is missing).
I am doing something wrong here? and what??
