Final Cut won't create correct Quicktime

I am trying to create a Quicktime file from a sequence. My Sequence codec is DV NSTC 48kHz
When I go to "Export>Quicktime Movie" and save it without changing preset options (make movie self contained is checked) it creates a file that opens in a FCP viewer, and another file that ends in .mov1 and .mov2.
The files for video are linked to .mov files I converted with MPEG Streamclip. These files also have been modified in Color.
If any other info is needed I'll provide it fast.
Thanks in advance.

What is the total running time of the project that you made in Final Cut Pro?
If you are writing the export to a Windows FAT formatted drive, there is a file size limit.
Files larger than the limit will be segmented.

  • Audio created in Final Cut won't play in iTunes

I created a bunch of audio files in FCP that have the .wav extension.  They play fine in Quicktime (and the Finder preview), but not in iTunes.
I''ve tried to convert them in programs like Swtich and xACT, but they won't open in those, either.
According to Switch, these files have "Codec: Extensible Wave Format."
According to the VLC player (in which they do open) they have these details:
    Type:                               Audio
    Codec:                               pcm
    Channels:                     3F2R/LFE
    Sample Rate:                     48000
    Bits per sample:           24
What to do? Something in Final Cut?  Some other program?
I've tried garageband, too, but the audio just comes out silent.
    Thanks

Itunes needs .m4a files.  Go to the Share menu in FCP X and choose Export Audio. Choose AAC from the export formats.  It should say M4a below the AAC selection in the Export list.  Afterward you will need to get the file into your Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music folder to see it in your iTunes library.  You might have to import the file into iTunes from within iTunes.  Best wishes.

  • Final cut won't export the correct settings for MXF videos

I have final cut 10.2 and compressor 4.2. My video footage is DSLR media shot at 1920x1080 at 29.97 in Mpeg format. I create an NTSC timeline that is 29.97 and 1080P and I can import and edit with this no problem. My issue is i want to export as 1080i29.97 XDCAM HD 422 50 Mbps in MXF format.(their is a preset for this in compressor) What i get is an mxf file that is 720x576 at 25 FPS and the picture is squished.  I added the destination through Final cut to compressor and selected the preset i want. I also checked the preset and the settings are correct. You can see from the picture below.
However when i select this destination from Finalcut 10 it shows in the settings that it is 1080i and also 720x576 on the same page! You can see from the image below that the title of the destination is "1080i29.97 XDCAM HD 422 50 Mbps" and below that it says 1080i, 8ch 24bit mono tracks. But at the bottom of this menu it says 720 x 576 | 25 fps!
if i export as a master file this does not happen, even if i choose XD CamEX 50Mbps. Any help is appreciated. Not sure what is going on. Thanks

What player are you using for playback?
Did you update the Pro Video codecs?
    My export is showing this

  • Exporting Final Cut timeline in highest quality Quicktime (self-contained)

Hi, I am wondering if you can help me. I just finished editing a film in HDV, 24P in Final Cut Studio 2 and need to export it as a stand alone quicktime file to take it to the color correction people and then for downressing in order to write to DigiBeta tapes.
My question is, do I simply export to Quicktime movie self-contained file using default (current) setting? I also see there are options such as Applre ProRes422 HQ, uncompressed 8bit and 10bit. From what I've heard uncompressed 8 and 10 bit and also apple ProRes422 are higher qualities? Am I wrong?
But going to Uncompressed 8bit or even to Apple ProRes won't make a difference since I only have HDV quality and that's the highest quality I can get anyway?
    Please advise.
    Thank you

Exporting a self contained QT Movie, and not recompressing will get you an HDV file that is full quality. But unless the facility you are going to has FCP on the machine they load this, they won't be able to see it. Same with ProRes...which would be the better choice for color correcting (10-bit, I-Frame format instead of GOP). ProRes and HDV (and DVCPRO HD) are codecs that only come with FCP, and any computer, even a mac, that doesn't have FCP installed cannot even view those file formats.

  • General Overview on How to use Final Cut Studio to create a Blu-Ray DVD

I am a new user of Final Cut Studio and need an experienced user to give my a progression guide on how to create a Blu-Ray DVD of my recent Alaska Trip. Last month I spend 8 days in Alaska visiting Denali and Juneau primarily. During that time I took about 100 short video clips (HD 1080p) and 570+ still photos with my Canon 7D. I have experimented with some pieces of the software and have created a Blu-Ray disk using Final Cut Pro and Compressor. However my goal is to create this DVD with menus that will play short clips (some narrated) and still photos(also some narration). I did a short one in DVD Studio Pro this morning but need some general guidance on what progression and programs to use to create this project. I was not able to take my video from the Studio Pro Sequence I created for my 1st DVD I had to take the original clips which were processed using Apple ProRes 422 and copy them in one at a time and then find the audio (on the voice overs) I created and also place them into DVD Studio Pro one at a time. I obviously need some guidance on the proper progression.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Here's the situation...
DVD Studio Pro will not do the trick for you - it doesn't do blu-ray discs. If you want to do Blu-ray you've got to use either Final Cut Pro's "Export" command or Compressor's "Burn Blu-ray disc" template. The downside to both of these approaches is that you can't burn more than one title (or movie, etc.) using Final Cut Studio.
To do what you want to do, you need Toast (at least). Toast will auto-generate menus but will let you put more than one title per slide (so you can put multiple slideshows on the same disc).
If you want to do full-on customizing of menus and multi-level menus, for that you need Adobe's Encore.
My suggestion - Get Toast. Encore is close to $800.
Here's your progression (at least the one I use).
Edit in Final Cut Pro (ProRes 422 is fine, ProRes 422 LT would do the trick as well)
Export as QuickTime movies (original settings)
In Compressor using the H.264 for Blu-ray setting and Dolby Digital setting and create elementary streams for video (.264 file) and audio (.ac3). Make sure these files have identical names except for the extension.
Using toast, add the video file to the Toast project and it'll find the audio file.
    Burn away!

  • IPhoto or Final Cut bug: export creates 19 stereo tracks attached to file!

I am exporting three slideshows from iPhoto '08 to Quicktime to be placed in a Final Cut Pro project. The first two exported fine. The longest one (just over ten minutes) exports and plays in QuickTime, but when you import to Final Cut, it mysterious has 19 stereo tracks attached, and won't play unless you remove all of those tracks (hence, no music) Again, the shorter two come in just fine with one stereo pair, as you would expect.
I installed the iPhoto update, tried again, still the same thing...

    Ryan:
Is it just that one particular slideshow or will any slideshow exported and imported to FCP display that problem? Also, if you have Quicktime Pro, open the problem file with it and check to see if if contains those 19 tracks. If not, then maybe FCP is causing the issue.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Final Cut Pro 4.5 and Quicktime 7 compatibility issues. Error 39!

I see some people saying Quicktime 7 is not compatible with Final Cut 4.5 and some saying it is.
I upgraded to 10.3.9 and then Quicktime 7 and I started getting error 39 at this one spot in my timeline and then crashing if I tried to play just a few seconds ahead of that spot. I tried trashing the prefs but that didn't do any good. The individual files play fine outside the timeline so it isn't corrupt media. I tried rerendering the effects that are at that point but that didn't help. I tried copying the entire timeline to a new sequence and that didn't help.
The strange thing was that when I took the part of the movie that was having trouble and deleted it from the timeline it still got error 39 when just playing over the empty timeline where the media used to be! This led me to realize that the problem lay in some Quicktime audio effects I had about a second in front ot the error 39 spot. I took off the effects from that audio but it didn't help. Then I deleted that audio from the timeline and just pasted it back in from the original clip and then it finally got to working.
Now I know nothing about the software, but I thought there might be some connection between the fact that I had effects that FCP labels as "quicktime effects" on there from my days in Quicktime 6.5, then upgraded to Q7, and perhaps those old effects don't work in Q7? I don't know.
So, my immediate problem is solved but I thought this experience may be of use to someone else. And perhaps some compatibility issues can be brought to light.

I would assume the Software Update program has sufficient logic within it to detect that my friend is running Final Cut Pro 4.0 and it would therefore be disastrous to install QuickTime 7.3, thus removing QuickTime 7.3 from her list of suggested updates. Would someone at Apple please fix this?
Sorry, but Quicktime is a component for SO MANY things, not just FCP. Sorry, but the OS doesn't detect that older versions of software are on there and won't be compatible...this is where you need to have a little knowledge. And sorry, but you need to have a little knowledge. If things are working, DO NOT UPGRADE unless it has been tested and cleared. In the case of FCP 4...it has not.
Rule of thumb...if you use older software, you have to stick to older versions of the OS and components that that software relies on.
How many things were broken with Vista? So many that the HUGE community let out a cry and now XP is available again configured on machines or as a stand alone buy. And no, Vista didn't warn that certain applications wouldn't work either.
You gotta research and find out. This place here...this forum...is a FANTASTIC place to find stuff like this out.
BTW...Apple doesn't read these forums, only us users. Gotta submit feedback here:

  • 10.6: After Logic Install, Final Cut won't install

After a Clean install of OS 10.6 on a Macbook Pro 15", I immediately did a complete install of Logic Studio 9. Then I tried to install Final Cut Studio 2.0, but the Final Cut app is greyed out in the installer window! Installer says the reason is: "TT_NEWERALREADYINSTALLED". There is not a newer version of Final Cut on the system.
There are newer versions of Soundtrack Pro, Compressor and Apple QMaster installed by the Logic Studio 9 installer, and the FC Studio 2.0 installer correctly recognizes this. But it won't let me install Final Cut, and that's a problem!
Obviously, The Final Cut Studio 2.0 installer sees something about the Logic installation that it thinks is a newer version of Final Cut.
Software Update says there aren't any updates available for this machine.
How do I fix this and get Final Cut installed? I've got some hours involved in building this Mac, and I really do not want to start over just because the Final Cut installer is confused. Please don't say, "Buy Final Cut Studio 3.0."
    Thanks.

Captain Mench says: "Did you look in your SYSTEM DRIVE/Library/Receipts/??"
Yes. There is no Proapp receipt in either /Library/Receipts or ~/Library/Receipts. There is no Receipts folder in /System/Library.
Odd that there is no receipt anywhere for Logic Studio 9 installation, no? Or any other Apple install. Not that I can find in the usual locations, anyway... Microsoft Office left 24 of 'em in /Library/Receipts!
Niel says use Pacifist. Good idea, but it opens the Final Cut Install .mpkg and breaks it down into 24 .pkg installers, not all of them with obvious names. I can't tell which ones are for Final Cut only, and I do not want to overwrite newer Soundtrack Pro or Compressor files from the Logic install. Nice try Neil, but I want to enable the Apple installer because it knows which packages are necessary for Final Cut only and I do not.
Thanks for your help, guys... I'll keep looking.

  • Final Cut won't open for a project

I can open Final cut Pro HD But I cannot open my project After adding 10 Livetype titles. Every time I try to open the project the application crashes at 13% of reading the project. I can open other projects but not this one. The Project is only 30 minutes long. I Tried going into my library and deleting the Com apple final cut pro plist and the data folder but it did not help. I also deleted the livetype titles that I created off of my hard drive and I have have the same problem. Does anyone Know how to delete Livetype titles from a project without openng Final cut pro or how to resolve this problem. Please Help.

Should I delete all of the render files for that project. One thing that I did do, since I worked on the project from my G4 laptop on a Lacie External drive, I tried opening the project up on my g5 desktop computer where there was no render files and the project still would not open. Is there any kind of way to delete livetype titles from the project without opening it.

  • Import from Final Cut Pro not working correctly

I have a very simple project in FCP. (Ver 6) It is a HD clip that is about 5 min long with 7 chapter markers.
I exported the project as an XML file and imported that into Premiere Pro empty project.
I wind up with two assets, a .mov with same name as the .mov in FCP and a sequence with the same named sequence in FCP.
Right clicking on the .mov and selecting "New sequence from clip" creates a new sequence with the .mov on the timeline.
    There are no markers.
Right clicking on the sequence asset and selecting "New sequence from clip" creates another sequence with the same name and the .mov on the timeline.
The markers are inside the .mov and audio tracks, not up on the top ruler line where markers appear when manually adding markers.
The keystrokes to move to markers do not work.
The "Clear all Markers" function is greyed out , like it is when no markers exist.
If a "Dynamic link to Encore is performed, there is no markers in Encore.
If you enter chapter markers manually and look at the project file (an XML file) you will see indexes with the chapter points , durations and names as children named "Markers" with attribute"ObjectID='22'.under "//PremiereData"
Following , in sequential order, are subsequent objects "Markers", ObjectID='23" through "ObjectID=n
However, if you look at the project file after importing a FCP project, this same function occurs, except that it is "Markers" "ObjectID=30 with the indexes and marker data 31 through n (further down in the file). This area is empty when adding the markers manually in Premiere Pro.
FYI , the project file is littered with the word "Marker" and "Markers" throughout the file, only their attributes make any node unique.
I am at 99.9 &% finished with a VB program to create / modify nodes, values and attributes, except that the XML date changes format at the node named "//WorkspaceSettings" so I am not able to edit values to make a file that will not crash when opening.
I would very much like the import from Final Cut Pro to work, or someone explain how to work with the nodes under "//WorkspaceSettings"
    Thank millions for a solution.

It's a 2007 iMac with 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.  I had been using Final Cut Pro without any problems right until I upgraded to Yosemite.  I'm hoping that upgrading to Yosemite doesn't mean I can't continue using Final Cut Pro - that would be extremely frustrating.

  • Final Cut Pro 7, Compressor, or Quicktime X do not recognize MobileMe

I'm having issues uploading my movies from Final Cut Pro, Compressor, or Quicktime X to MobileMe. For both FCP and QT X, when I "Share" using MobileMe, it says that either my Username or Password is wrong. I know for a fact it's not because I can use them to login here or on iTunes. It worked before, but now after I did a Pro Application software update, it doesn't let me. I'm not certain that's the direct problem, though. When I try with Compressor, it just tells me it failed uploading.
I tried using both "username" and "[email protected]"
If I use "[email protected]" it says there is some sharing error which I never heard about.
How can I fix this problem, or is anyone else also experiencing this bug?
BTW, every thing else works fine.
    Thank you.

Have you tried the full login including "@me.com or @mac.com"? This seems to work as far as FCP or compressor "recognizing" the MobileMe account. Yet when I do it through compressor, even though it says the job is done and all is well it never actually uploads it to MobileMe. It seems to work fine through FCP though.

  • Final Cut won't open project, stops at 0% or 1% while reading project

Smaller projects will open, but all of a sudden this large project (with HVX-200 HD footage) which I've been editing for several months won't open. Final cut opens fine but when it starts to read the project, it never gets passed 2%, and I have to force quit. I am running the project off of two lacie 500GB drives. What should I do?

Duplicate the project on the Desktop and try opening that.
Try opening your last autosave - resave and try working off of that.

  • Trying to update final cut, won't accept my serial number

    WHAT THE--??
My copy of Final Cut is legit, but I'm running 5.1.4. I need to update, but it won't accept the serial number. The version isn't originally registered to me (someone gave me one of their installs), but my copy is. Has this happened to anybody else?

    apologies,
I have gone on the FCP update page on the apple website. It asks for the serial number: when I enter the serial number that is displayed on the "about final cut pro" window, I am told that the serial number does not exist. This has happened at least a half dozen times. I have entered it exactly. I am running 5.1.4.
