"Find All Targets.vi" crashes 2009 Development Environment

Hi Folks,
This is a first one for me - running 2009 v9.0f3 and am having trouble with the above vi (included as part of the "System Replication" example). I've used this VI for a while now and never had this trouble.
The local 10/100 NIC set to DHCP by default, but static if DHCP unavailable (172.16.1.1/255.255.0.0).
cFP-2010 is static at 172.16.1.2
link/ping find between target and host computer.
Target is running RT v8.5.1, FP VI Manager 6.0.1 / FP Drivers 6.0.0, and variable client support for LV RT.
Crashes when:
-host PC connection to cFP-2010 is OK
AND
-"Find Only Unconfigured" bool terminal is set to (False)
Won't crash if:
-host computer is connected to 'coorperate' network and has IP via DHCP (no targets to respond). Either bool value.
-host PC connection to cFP-2010 is OK
AND
-"Find Only Unconfigured" bool terminal is set to (True)
Crash is hard - no 'program has stopped responding', all LabVIEW windows just gone.
Recovery kicks in on next LV start, but no error reporting.
Any thoughts? Not sure where to start, other than *maybe* another cFP-2010.
Regards,
Jamie

As it turns out, a build from late last year seems to be running fine using this VI.
So I re-built a small test VI -> exe, and I get this crash dialog when attempting to run.
Beginning to think the NI VI has become corrupt - can you provide an MD5 hash, (or some other means of checking the file)?

  • Typical Repository setup for multiple developer environment.

    I'm having trouble finding documentation on setting up a
    development environment for several developers using Repository.
    I currently have a Global Shared Workarea set up with some
    Forms .fmb files that I would like to share. What method should
    the developer who wants to work on one of these files use to
    perform a check out of the file? When a file is checked out, is
    it moved to a Private Workarea or is it downloaded to the
    developers hard drive? Within Forms Builder there is a check out
    option under File->Administration, but as far as I can tell,
    there is no way to browse the Repository to find the file that
    needs to be worked on. I'm able to use the Repository Object
    Navigator to locate the file, but when I check it out I'm not
    sure how to work on it within Forms Builder. Do I need to
    download the file to my hard drive, or is Forms Builder able to
    work on the file within the Repository?

    Tom,
    Nice set of questions.
    I suggest you allow each developer to create their own workarea,
    these will be private, until they are shared to other developers.
    For a simple environment the workarea rule will be latest(main).
    Check your fmb files into the Repository, they will then appear
    in any workarea that has the rule latest on main. You will also
    need to make the folder they reside in available to public, or
    grant access to individual users.
    Each developer should map the folder to a particular clientside
    directory. I suggest you apply some standards across development
    machines to avoid confusion. A mapping to d:\forms would be
    ideal. On checkout of an fmb it will be synchronized with the
    local file system. The form can then be opened from he Forms
    Builder. You are correct that there is no For Builder Repository
    browser, you must use the RON. Once the form is open in the
    Forms Builder it may be checked in and out. You will need to go
    back to the RON to perform diff/merge and dependency analysis.
    I suggest you ask 2 developers to work on the same fmb and see
    how the repository handles this. Try merging fmb files,
    hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised.
    Note that to add files to a checked in folder you must check it
    out. To make the changes available to other workareas you must
    check the folder back in.
    Have a look at the commandline tool. We use a lot of scripts to
    assist setup and build releases.
    regards
    David

    I want to run some code just before iphone application goes into background. I need function similar to didEnterBackground

    I tried using devactivated function of flash.display.STAGE.
    I used following addEventListener:
    STAGE = this.parent.stage;
    STAGE.addEventListener(Event.DEACTIVATE, onAppDeactivated);
    It worked for me but only when device is connected to development environment in debug mode. When I create my release build

  • I have a 2009 MB Pro. I have been trying to do some cleaning of files and discovered that in Finder, All Images, I am experiencing a frustrating problem. I spent a few hours trashing over 4K images and within a few hours, I had as many more. Help!

    I have a 2009 MB Pro. I have been trying to do some cleaning of files and discovered that in Finder, All Images, I am experiencing a frustrating problem. I spent a few hours trashing over 4K images and within a few hours, I had as many more.  I did a couple of thousand trashed images and half hour later, more arrived. There are a lot of images that seem off the internet, including gif.s, png.s. Help!

    First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
    There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
    If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
    If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
    Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
    Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
    If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
    Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
    Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
    When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
    Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
    Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • How to find references of a Property in the class through code? similar to 'Find All References' in Visual Studio Environment.

     Hello,
    I am trying to find a code to find all the references of the property defined in a class which is very similar to 'Find All References' function available in Visual Studio environment. But I want to have it in code during run time. How to do it?
    e.g
    =>Property 1
    private int _Salary;
    public int Salary()
    get{return _Salary;}
    set{_Salary = value;}
    => Property 2
    private int _Bonus;
    public int Bonus()
    get{return Salary * 2;}
    Like in the above example I have two properties Salary & Bonus. Bonus is calculated from salary. As soon as I set a value to Salary, value of Bonus gets updated.
    Similarly I want to get reference of all other properties or methods in the class or program which are affected when value of Salary is changed through code.
    Conclusion - I want to have a method or function, so that whenever I set a value to some property in a class, I want to have a list of all the other properties(List<Property>) or methods which are affected and in which the changed property is referenced.
    Please help me to achieve this.
    Siddharth.Shinde

    This is not something possible, as requested, even with reflection.
    I can't find the reason for having that kind of implementation at runtime.. your compiled assembly is not going to change once it's compiled.
    The way references are listed from within visual studio is probably using metadata gathered from the background compiler. When you write code, the compiler run pre-compilation tests, this is the same feature that will display error in your code before you
    compile, or complete your intelisense for types that aren't even compiled in the assembly.
    So, the only way for you to analyze this kind of thing would be to use something like ILDASM to disasemble your compiled libraries and gather metadata from the resulting MSIL. That would not work if you are using code obfuscation by the way.

  • Is it possible and how to find out what host, if any, is connected to a remote PXI prior to switching execution target programmatically or in devlopment environment?

    Is it possible and how to find out what host, if any, is connected to a remote PXI prior to switching execution target programmatically or in devlopment environment?

    This functionality is not available in LabVIEW RT. If you attempt to switch execution target to an RT controller already targetted by someone else, it will tell you too many hosts are connected and fail. Of course if it allows you to switch, then no one was connected. By attempting to switch execution target you can use the message above to determine if anyone is targetted or not, but if someone is, there is no way to determine who.
    If you are concerned about this sort of thing, you might check the RT target options in LabVIEW RT to change the IP access list for hosts that are allowed to switch execution target to it.

  • Why does Build Application vi work in development environment but not in executable; error 1025

    Hello,
    I have an application ("A") that I am trying to build using another application ("BuildA").
    I can create an application for A manually from its project using the Build Specification, and it works fine (A.exe).
    Also, when I run BuildA.vi in the development environment it calls the "Build.vi" correctly and again builds application A.exe just fine.
    Then, when I make BuildA an application (manually) and run BuildA.exe, I would expect it to also create A.exe just like BuildA.vi did in the development environment.
    However, it fails with the error:
    Code: 1025
    Open VI Reference in NI_App_Builder_API.lvlib:Build (path).vi->BuildA.vi<APPEND>
    VI Path: <b>C:\TEMP\AppBuild\BuildA\vi.lib\AppBuilder\BuildTarget.vi</b>
    I noticed this thread , which looks like a similar problem, but no conclusion was reached.
    Why does BuildA.vi work fine in the LabVIEW environment, but the application BuildA.exe does not work?  All paths are hard-coded, so it shouldn't be a path issue.
    Thanks,
    -john

    Interesting code.  I'm curious how you came to decide 324ms in your while loop, and 58 in the other, and then 5136ms at the end.  In any case I suspect this has to do with this line of text in the help of the Build.vi.
    If you plan to run a build specification on the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine, do not include the Build VI in any of the VIs for the build specification.
    I don't fully know what this means but it might be why it isn't working.
    The Build.vi opens all Context (application instances) and then looks for the one named "NI.LV.MxLvProvider".  This I assume is a application instance NI uses to build applications.  It then uses this and opens some other VIs in this instance for the building.  The error you are getting is "Application Reference is invalid" meaning it couldn't find the NI.LV.MxLvProvider instance it needs to build.  Again I believe this maybe because you are in a run-time environment and that instance doesn't exist there.
    At the end of the day I'm guessing since Application Builder is not free, NI probably doesn't include it in the Run-Time engine, which is free.  So you can't build the way you want.  You could have and EXE running in the run-time open an instance in the development, then run your VI from there if you must make this an EXE.  It maybe easier to just edit the BuildA.vi to have a "Run When Opened" so that you double click the VI and it runs which behaves like an EXE sorta.

  • Serious performance issue with LV 7.1 Development Environment

    I'm posting this issue to the forums prior to submitting a bug report to ensure that the problems I'm having are reproducible. To reproduce this bug, you're going to have to be an advanced user with a large project (hundreds to thousands of VIs) as the performance problem is related to the number of VIs loaded.
    The issue is the increasingly poor performance of the LabVIEW 7.1 Development Environment as the number of VIs in memory increases. The actions affected include switching between front panel and diagram, saving a VI, copy and paste, clicking a menu, and the mysterious time spent (compiling? editing the runtime menu? changing the toolbar state?) between pressing the run button and when the code actually starts executing. Scrolling and, interestingly, copying via a control-drag are not affected. Running time of entirely on-diagram code does not seem to be affected.
    These problems are quite severe and significantly decrease my productivity as a programmer. Since they are development environment UI issues, it's been difficult for me to find a good example VI; the best I can do is the attached "LV Speed Test.vi". It doesn't test the issues that affect me most, but it seems to suffer from the same problem.
    This simple VI just shows and hides the menu bar 100 times in a tight for loop. When it is the only VI loaded, it executes in about 350 msec on my machine. (2.4 GHz P-IV/640 MB RAM/Win2k). However, when I load a single project-encompassing VI (let's call it the "giant") that references a total of about 900 user and VI-lib subVIs, the test routine takes almost a minute and half to run...about 240 times slower! I've tried this on my laptop with similar results.
    The problem appears to be related to the *number* of VIs loaded and not the memory utilization. For example, if I close the "giant", and create a new VI ("memhog") that does nothing but initialize a length 20,000,000 array of doubles and stores it in an uninitialized shift register, LabView's overall memory usage (as shown in the task manager) jumps enormously, but LV Speed Test executes in about 450 msec...only slightly slower than with a fresh copy of Labview.
    The problem seems to be related to excessive context switching. The Windows task manager shows over a thirteen hundred page faults occur when "LV Speed Test" is run with the "giant" in the background, versus zero or none when run by itself or when "memhog" has used up 160+MB of space.
    The problem only seems to affect the frontmost window. (Unfortunately, that's where we LV programmers spend all of our time!) If you start "LV Speed Test" and then put "giant" in the foreground "LV Speed Test" runs much faster. In fact, if you use the VI server to put the "giant" VI in the foreground programmatically at the start of "LV Speed Test", execution time drops back to 450 msec, and there are no page faults!
    These results show the issue is not related to video drivers or the Windows virtual memory system. My suspicion is that there is a faulty routine in LV 7.1 that is traversing the entire VI hierarchy every time certain events are thrown in the foreground window. It could be due to a problem with the Windows event tracking system, but this seems less likely.
    I have been programming LV for about 7 years and switched from LV 6.1 to 7.1 about four months ago. I know NI engineers have put thousands of hours developing and testing LV 7.1, but honestly I find myself wishing I had never upgraded from using LV 6.1. (To whomever thought "hide trailing zeros" should be the default for floating point controls...what were you thinking?!)
    I know each new version of LabView causes old-timers like me to grouse that things were better back in the days when we etched our block diagrams on stone tablets, etc., and honestly I'm not going to go back. I am committed to LabView 7.1. I just wish it were not so slow on my big projects!

    Hi,
    I can confirm this behavior. Setting the execution system to "user
    interface" helps a bit, but there is still a big difference.
    I get a feeling it has something to do with window messages, perhaps
    WM_PAINT or something, that is handled differently if a VI is not
    frontmost... But what do I know...
    Don't know if it should be called a bug, but it sure is something that could
    be optimized.
    Regards,
    Wiebe.

    Hello:
    I overcame the above issue by changing index.html to index.jsp, but now i am facing another issue as shown below:
    On top of the above change i too included j2ee.jar (from websphere) in the classpath to overcome the below issue, but even then i am getting the same error.

         Eclipse 3.1
         myEclipse - EnterpriseWorkbenchInstaller_4.0GA_E3.1
         jakarta-tomcat-5.0.28 (Application Server)
         Sysdeo Eclipse Tomcat Launcher plugin - tomcatPluginV31beta
         SDK 1.4.2_08
         Microsoft XP sp2 operating system
    I have no issue with creation of project structure in eclipse IDE, compilation, and deployment, but there are some exception upon running the application.
    My project folder structure as follows:
    MyApplication/
    src/
    Conf/
    Web/
    classes
    taglib
    lib
    web.xml
         my application has few dependent projects, therefore I copied all the dependent projects final compiled classes (jars) to lib folder.
         I set all necessary classpath according to tomcat documentation.
         I created MyApplication.xml file under D:\jakarta-tomcat-5.0.28\conf\Catalina\localhost\ folder with the below context

  • Business one development environment bug

    I am using business one development environment version 1.3 with visual studio 2005 and have also been using version 1.1 with visual studio 2003. After using the wizard to help you include the necessary files of your add on project and you have clicked finished it creates for you .ard and .exe files. The thing is when you try edit the project later and build it or run it the add on does not execute, i explored and found out that the .exe file is re-created but the .ard is not when you build therefore rendering both useless.
    Anyone who has encountered this before? What help is there, since i cannot customize my add on installer forms?

    Hi Duncan,
    The B1DE does not recreate the ard file for you once the installer project has been created. However, it does create a batch file that you can use to easily recreate the ard file after each recompile of your installer project. You should find a subfolder called AddOnRegDataGenFile in the folder where you've created your installer project. Within this folder there is a batch file called AddOnRegDataGen.bat. All you have to do is double-click this file after you've recompiled your installer and it will recreate the ard file for you. This batch file and the accompanying xml file store the properties for your addon that are used in the ard file (eg installation time, version number etc) so you can edit these files if you want to change any properties prior to recreating your ard file.
    Kind Regards,
    Owen

  • How to find all Hypercard documents in Leopard?

    When I upgraded to a Mac Pro from a G4, I lost my ability to work with Hypercard (I do use Sheepshaver occasionally, but it crashes frequently). I recently purchased Supercard, in order to be able to continue to work in a Hypercard-like environment (and it works great), but I have to convert my Hypercard projects and stacks to Supercard format.
    I have several old Hypercard documents scattered throughout my mac's hard drives, and want to be able to find them all using Leopard's find abilities. However, I have discovered that (unlike in Tiger), Leopard cannot search by Creator Code or file Type Code, only by "Kind". When I try to search by "Kind" for "HyperCard" or "Hypercard Document" (Leopard displays the latter in the Get Info box for a Hypercard stack), I get no results. It works for "Microsoft Excel", but not for Hypercard.
    None of content, size or date help work; there is a wide range of stack sizes and date (I was working on various projects from the late 1980s through last year). Content varies widely as well.
    Any ideas on how I can find all Hypercard stacks on my drives? Perhaps there is a 3rd party tool that allows me to do this (I've searched with no luck on this front yet).
    Thanks!

    I tried this and it works as you describe, but not all Hypercard documents appear to have the same content type, as described by Terminal.
    The first Hypercard stack I tried came up with the content type:
    dyn.ah62d4rv4ge8xe6u
    The search only found the one result with this type (the same stack).
    Then I tried using the Hypercard "Home" stack (a pretty central stack to Hypercard's functioning), and it had a content type:
    dyn.ah62d4rv4gk8zgzcbmq
    (note the type is longer with a different ending; only the first 14 characters are identical to the first stack).
    This search found 317 items, which is likely most of my Hypercard documents, so this is some progress.
    Unfortunately I know that since the first stack I tried had a different content type, there may be other Hypercard stacks on my hard drive with yet a different content type, not caught by these searches.
    I then tried a wildcard, thinking that if only the first 14 characters of the content type are identical, I focus my search on those characters only, using asterisk as a wildcard at the end. So I searched for:
    dyn.ah62d4rv4g*
    The result was 526 hits, including many documents that are not Hypercard. So this doesn't help.
    It appears that the content type is not exactly specific to a the File Type or Creator Code, so while I can find many of a particular document, this method cannot find all of one type of document.
    I tried searching using raw query by the Terminal-reported File Type Code (kMDItemFSTypeCode= "STAK"), but this revealed no items.
    Perhaps I should suggest this to Apple as a bug fix for Leopard, to restore the ability to search by Type Code or Creator Code as a choice in the OS Find service? I know these codes are no longer relied on as much as they used to be, since now the OS uses extension as much as anything else, but there is lots of older software that still run in Leopard that use Type and Creator codes. And Apple still recommends registering the creator code of any new software.
    Thank you!

  • Development environment model

    Hi All,
    As the WebLogic server is not cheap (!), we were wondering what model you
    used in your development environments? Obviously, it would be very
    expensive for each developer to have their own copy installed on their local
    machine, but how do you manage multiple developers working on the same
    application with the same server on a central machine, possibly modifying
    the same beans or beans used by others, and deploying them to the same
    server? Also, problems could occur if a problem is introduced into a bean
    used by others. Does anyone have a tried and true method for managing this
    and keeping multiple developers from interfering with the work of others?
    Thanks!!!
    Elaine

    I do not think you are going to find a solution to the problems presented by
    parallel development of a project. That is simply just a fact of life I
    think. But I think that there are things that you can do to mitigate
    interference.
    In our development environment, we have a central repository that keeps all
    of the code. There are multiple source lines. Developers map the source
    lines to their machines. For example, your commerce application might have
    a production line and a development line. You would make bug fixes for your
    production code in the production line while you made advanced development
    changes in the other line. A release team would bundle of the development
    line and make "releases" of the product/site.
    As for development environments, each developer should be able to have a
    copy of the developer seat for WebLogic on their box. In our situation,
    developers synchronize against the code line regularly. This provides the
    benefit of using a stable code line but also synchronizing up against others
    changes on a regular basis.
    Some other application server vendors have tried a different technique for
    development environments. One of those is requiring that you have a central
    "test server" that is shared by all of the developers instead of
    environments for each developer. In theory, the sounds good. But in
    practice, it can be a real nightmare.
    I hope that this helps.
    Thanks,

    Hi All,
    As the WebLogic server is not cheap (!), we were wondering what model you
    used in your development environments? Obviously, it would be very
    expensive for each developer to have their own copy installed on theirlocal
    machine, but how do you manage multiple developers working on the same
    application with the same server on a central machine, possibly modifying
    the same beans or beans used by others, and deploying them to the same
    server? Also, problems could occur if a problem is introduced into a bean
    used by others. Does anyone have a tried and true method for managingthis
    and keeping multiple developers from interfering with the work of others?
    Thanks!!!

  • Migrating C/C++Development environment from Solaris 6 OS to Solaris 10 OS.

    Hi,
    I have several questions. Hope i can get some advises.
    I am tasks to do a migration for my current Development environment from Solaris 6 OS to Solaris 10 OS.
    Current Scenaros:
    =============
    My Development environment is on Solaris 6 OS machine ( 5.6 Generic_105181-31 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-2 )
    and where i did my C/C++ codings and compilation for my company software application.
    We have purchased a new machine Solaris 10 OS machine ( 5.10 Generic_125100-07 sun4u sparcSUNW,Sun-Fire-V210 )
    with the objective to replace the old development H/W and OS.
    The machine ( Solaris 6 OS) where the software application currently is running will also be replace with a new machine ( Solaris 10 OS).
    The Software application is purely C/C++ codings and has no database requirements.
    The application is make up of several executables and they utilise the Solaris Unix queues.
    The source codes are compiled using Sun compiliers and libraries.
    Problems:
    ========
    I did the followings:
    1. Installed the Solaris 10 OS machine with all the necessary compilers and libraries for my C/C++ codes.
    2. I ported over all my sourcecodes and makefiles from the old machine ( Solaris 6 ) to the new machine ( Solaris 10 )
    3. I did a recompilation of the source codes on the new Solaris 10 machine and hit many errors as followings:
    "/opt/SUNWspro/prod/include/CC/rw7/rw/rstream.h", line 46: Error: The name istream is ambiguous, istream and std::istream.
    "/opt/SUNWspro/prod/include/CC/rw7/rw/rstream.h", line 46: Error: The type "istream" is incomplete.
    "/opt/SUNWspro/prod/include/CC/rw7/rw/stringid.h", line 50: Error: The name ostream is ambiguous, ostream and std::ostream.
    "/opt/SUNWspro/prod/include/CC/rw7/rw/stringid.h", line 50: Error: The name ostream is ambiguous, ostream and std::ostream.
    "/opt/SUNWspro/prod/include/CC/rw7/rw/rwdate.h", line 82: Error: The name istream is ambiguous, istream and std::istream.
    "/opt/SUNWspro/prod/include/CC/rw7/rw/vstream.h", line 92: Error: The name ios is ambiguous, ios and std::ios.
    "/opt/SUNWspro/prod/include/CC/rw7/rw/vstream.h", line 92: Error: eofbit is not a member of ios.
    "/opt/SUNWspro/prod/include/CC/rw7/rw/locale.h", line 115: Error: The name ios is ambiguous, ios and std::ios.
    "/opt/SUNWspro/prod/include/CC/rw7/rw/rwdate.h", line 151: Error: The name ostream is ambiguous, ostream and std::ostream.
    "/opt/SUNWspro/prod/include/CC/rw7/rw/rwerr.h", line 197: Error: The name ios is ambiguous, ios and std::ios.
    "/opt/SUNWspro/prod/include/CC/rw7/rw/cstring.h", line 347: Error: The name istream is ambiguous, istream and std::istream.
    Questions:
    ========
    1. Can anyone advise on these errors messages that i am seeing?
    2. Can i say that as long i can successful recompile my codes on Solaris 10 , my application will work?
    3. Can i simply copy my application ( Compiled in Solaris 6 ) directly to the new Solaris 10 machine and expect it to run properly? What are the concerns if i adopt this approach.
    Regards,
    Edwin

    Questions:
    ========
    1. Can anyone advise on these errors messages that i am seeing?My guess would be that the names have changed from Solaris 6 to Solaris 10.
    2. Can i say that as long i can successful recompile my codes on Solaris 10 , my application will work?No. I've seen GNU utilities that compile without error and then fail on make test or make check. A clean compile only means that, a clean compile nothing more.
    3. Can i simply copy my application ( Compiled in Solaris 6 ) directly to the new Solaris 10 machine and expect it to run properly? What are the concerns if i adopt this approach.It might. The easiest way to find out is to just move it and see what happens. On a test machine of course.
