Find/Change search options vanish
I'm using ID CC 2014 in Windows 7. I have had this same problem since CS4 and it is driving me crazy. At various times, I'll open the Find/Change dialog, and will see that not all of the search choices are there. All Documents and Documents are always there, but the other options of story or selection are not (and yes, I'm either in story or have selected text).
The only way to fix it is to exit and restart ID.
Any thoughts on a permanent fix?
Certainly a good thought; I've got lots of stuff running, though nothing particularly unusual. It would be probably harder to track that down than to just make do with the current situation.

To customize Instant Search options by using Group Policy
- In Group Policy, load the Office Outlook 2007 template (Outlk12.adm).
- To customize how results are displayed, under
User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Microsoft Office Outlook 2007\Tools | Options\Preferences\Search Options, double-click the setting that you want to set. For example, double-click Turn off wordwheel.
- Click Enabled. For hit highlighting color, choose a color from the Background Color drop-down list.
- Click OK.

In addition, perform below steps to edit the registry key and check.
Step 1: Open the Registry Editor application.
Step 2: In the Registry Editor, click the Edit menu and select Find. Type PreventIndexingOutlook in the search field and click Find Next.
Step 3: Right click PreventIndexingOutlook and select Modify. Change its Value data to
0 and click OK.
Step 4: Search again by clicking the Edit menu and select Find. Type SetupCompletedSuccessfully in the search field and click Find Next. Locate this key.
Step 5: Right click the SetupCompletedSuccessfully key and select Modify. Change its Value Data to 0 and click OK.
Step 6: Restart your computer and you will now be able to perform advanced searches in Microsoft Outlook.

Has anybody else noticed that Find/Change searched according to date added? It doesn't go page by page — it searches in the ORDER that text was added to a document.
For instance, if you started with Pages 300-400, then added text to page 200, then added text to pages 100-200, THAT IS THE ORDER Find/Change will search. Crazy, no?
By the way, does anyone know how to FORCE Find/Change to always center a spread? Currently, it moves the various pages all over the place during a search …We are using Exchange 2010 and IOS 6.0.1 and seeing this issue with exceptions associated to recurring meetings on both the iPad and iPhone.
Oddly, you can make the first change (time of meeting, for example) to an exception in the series and have the change sync from Outlook 2010 to the iPad. If you attempt to make a second change to the same exception, the 2nd change does not sync to the IOS device. Thoughts? -
Search using finder sidebar search options - but restrict it to one profile
I'm relatively new to my mac & OSX. How do I use the Finder sidebar search options - but restrict it to searching on just that one profile. currently it scans both the Administrator profiles. Thanks
In the old days when we wanted to search for something on the Mac (or Windows) we'd invoke the Find function, type information into the text box(es) and click on the Start button. That was fine but we often searched for the same thing over and over. That's why Apple created the *Smart Folder* which is really nothing more than a pre-made search. It isn't really a folder in the traditional sense; it doesn't hold items, it holds the search criteria and then shows the items that match it. Since it is a folder, these pre-made searches can be put in the sidebar the same as any other folder.
The sidebar search option, as you refer to it, is a collection of searches that Apple created for us. If they don't do what you want, you can create your own by selecting *New Smart Folder* from the File menu and save it to the sidebar. I've deleted all the ones Apple provided and replaced them with my own. -
Change search options to FILE NAME only
Is there a way to change the search options to always search for FILE NAME only?
I don't know who'd saech for contents every time, that would seem like a last resort if you couldn't find what you are originally looking for and forgot the file name. We have 10's of thousands of files and having the stupid contents pop up EACH time I want to do a search wastes so much time.

Customer says, on previous version of portal, they had “Employee search” option in which anyone can search for basic data of any colleagues. Right now in EHP7, there is no such options. Did we miss activation at any place or missing any notes?

No -- the only option is to Find/Change in all open documents. That does exactly what you already found out.
InDesign doesn't have any problems at all with lots of documents open -- I do that all the time. -

What I meant to have written was that when copying "~b" from the find/change field in InDesign and pasting into Script Editor, and saving, it converted it automatically to a hard return. I didn't try it manually because sometimes the obvious is elusive! (to me at least)

Find/Change object size width
Hi guys,
So this is the problem:
I have over 900 pages long catalog and I made a little changes to a textframe options and other object styles, but bottomline is that now I have to change all the textframes width to 62 mm (its now 61 mm). I have tried the Find/Change "Object" options, but I just can't find the right way to do it. Is it even possible to do it with the Find/Change Object? I have to change over 6000 textframes manually if this dosen't work :/
Do I have to do this with Grep scripting and how is that possbile if I have to do it with it?

I found the solution(ish), basically it's possible to change object dimensions with the "Find/Change Object". Thanks Bart Van de Wiele for the "Columns Fixed width" tip.
."Find Object Format" -> What kind of "Object style" you are looking for and then put "Text Frame Options" -> Width (exp. 55 mm)
"Change Object Format" -> go to "Text Frame General Options" -> "Columns: Fixed width" -> width (exp. 56 mm, I have 3 mm inset spacing left&right so 56 + 6 is 62 mm).
Change the desired textframes, BUT THEN you have this kind of problem where you can not change the textframes width sizes because they are "fixed sized".
Click one of the changed textframes and go to "Style options" where you get that "+" -sign. Click in the options "Clear overrides".
Now you have changed the all desired textframes and you can change the width too. -
I own a IPhone 4S and work with a PC, syncronizing via www.icloud.com. I cannot find any 'search' option in it. Is there any?

Alejandro Klein - ArgentinaIf you are talking about photos synced to the iPod, synced photosare not part of the backup that iTunes amkes and thus unless the synced photos are on the computer, they can't be synced to the iPod as paty of the restore.
We need more information to maybe better answer your question. -

In several places in the Scripting Guide, I set the find/change options to nothing. This is an error. Setting the find/change
preferences to nothing works; setting find/change
options to nothing doesn't. It doesn't produce an error message, but it can mess up all subsequent find/change operations.
The affected objects are:
AppleScript
find change text options
find change grep options
find change glyph options
JavaScript
findChangeTextOptions
findChangeGrepOptions
findChangeGlyphOptions
VBScript
FindChangeTextOptions
FindChangeGrepOptions
FindChangeGlyphOptions
Do not set any of the above to nothing, NothingEnum.nothing, idNothingEnum.idNothing, null, undefined, or anything similar.
If you are using the FindChangeByList example script, you might want to remove the lines that do this--I'll get a revised version posted soon. The installed version works fine with the default FindChangeList.txt file, but will cause problems if you try to use more complex grep expressions.

I find the search option on my Blackbery Curve 8330 to be quite limited. For example, I'd like to search my Address Book to find any restaurants that are in Easton PA. In Search, I enter "Easton" in the Text box and click on Address Book, but it doesn't find anything that I know is in the Address Book.
Am I doing something wrong? Or is there an app to download (similar to the very good one for Palm products called "Intelligent Find"?

Since on this journey from Win 8 consumer preview to Win 8 retail preview ..And no currently trying out Win 8 Pro...It verified if it was gonna give me back ( allowed to re-download ) the apps I was used/had in previous editions. The Store gives you
a selection of YOU APPS from previous versions of the OS preview of apps you installed and currently would want to reinstall. Various versions of the Consumer preview I installed 2 out the 4 times i installed the OS seen I had installed the app Comixology.
When the first time I installed Retail preview it didn't have it in my list nor was it listed in the store! Same goes with Iheart Radio and Slacker Radio though numerous installments of the OS. Now trying out the Win 8 Pro 9200 version It showed I at
one point no matter what PC I used ( I own a few and bought a new one recently ) It showed at one point I installed Comixology. Yet it didn't show Iheart Radio or Slacker in my install list of old to reinstall nor was it even in the Store!!!! \\\So
what the hell gives ????? I mean If there was a SEARCH Option it would make it easier to track these Metro ( whatever they are calling it now -personally I think they should call it FRAMES as in Window Frames :P When you go on these
programs sites they only offer up Apple or Android app downloads and nothing mentioning of Metro or Win 8 -which is understandable due to not being released yet but still if the Store can't comply with your history of app install base ( paid or free ) and
you can't have the ability to retrieves said apps you once installed how can that be trusted if and when paid apps are bought if you are only to reinstall the entire OS and find that your app is not obtainable via offered through the main store or even in
your downloads app install history. I hope they fix this issue as it's been pissing me off since this whole testing thing!!Sorry if I offended you by using an anecdote - the actions of kids are simply an easy way to explore the actions of adults. Growing up doesn't change base instincts. Most people (myself included) tend to have an immediate distrust of change when
it is not change that they are instigating, when it is forced upon them. What better example is there than a child, where many big decisions are made for them?
As for the new interface, I didn't catch on until it was revealed to me (or I hit my head against the wall, can't remember), so I'm not saying it is easy. Better education is needed, but going back to the old way doesn't help. The five or six
questions I have answered today are questions that I myself had, and wished someone had answered for me. This is a
drastic change from old versions of Windows. I even told my boss yesterday that I can't see his company (I'm a contractor) switching any time soon - too much new stuff to learn. That being said, once there are some good training tools available,
I do believe that this OS will be a good choice - it does feel more intuitive after only a few days of use. A training course is likely necessary for new users, however my guess is that this will wind up being a beneficial change (long-run)
for IT departments, because the system does feel more aimed towards the casual user. No matter what program you use, the search and settings are in one easy place.
I admittedly do not have a lot of files in my Skydrive, however the file that is there is purple, while the folders are blue. Not sure if all files are like that, and I really do not have the time to explore those differences. That being said,
the number in the bottom-right seems pretty self-explanatory, the number of child elements in the container. I barely remember the old Skydrive interface, however I do remember it felt clunky. Whether or not the changes are a true
improvement, it does feel more streamlined.
Metro (or whatever it is called now) is confusing. It is scary. (My word, not yours, nor am I trying to imply it.) It is definitely
different from the past. But it makes sense. Same interface on every MS product: Xbox, Windows, and Phone. Microsoft didn't exactly
pioneer this idea, either. Apple has been creeping in that direction for a while now. As I said previously, I can move around faster in the new Start menu than I could in the old, and I can actually do
more without ever putting a hand on the mouse - for anyone that is waist-deep in computers, regardless of their specific job, that tends to be a
good thing.
There are a lot of growing pains here, for both Microsoft and the consumer. Has MS gotten it right? Not yet, not entirely, but the goal is clear.

As for disliking the big changes, well, I can't agree with you on that at all. Again, it wasn't an easy transition, but now that I'm here, I don't want to go back. I want the true
bugs fixed, but not having a search bar seems more like being stuck on old ways of doing things than a real problem. That kind of thing can even lead to puking.
