Find membership and associated rights of particular user in exchange 2010 / 2013 ?

Assuming we have two users -say U1 and U2 and we need  to map U1's access to U2 for a particular exchange 2010 conference room mailbox . is there a cmdlet or a way out to find membership and associated rights of 'U1' in exchange so that we may grant
similar access and rights for U2. Please suggest.
Aditya Mediratta

Associated rights can be granted at two levels, one on mailbox which can be found using below cmdlet...
Get-MailboxPermission RoomName| Where {$_.user -notlike "NT AUTHORITY\SELF" -and $_.IsInherited -eq $false -and $_.user -like "*U1*"} | FL Identity,User,@{Name='Access Rights';Expression={[String]::join(`, `,$_.AccessRights)}}
Second at individual folder level inside the mailbox so for Room mailbox calendar is the only thing you would need to check... You can check via Powershell but you need to open Shell with RunAs that user and while AD account for the Room is disabled you
can not do that so I would suggest you to verify by opening mailbox in Outllook as its just one Mailbox and see if U1 has permission on it or not....

  • How can i get newly added contacts for a Mailbox User in Exchange Server 2013

    Hi all,
I need to synchronize contacts in Exchange Server and Sugar CRM Application, for that
i need to get newly added contacts for a User in Exchange Server 2013 by using EWS Managed API.
I know how get the list of all contacts for a particular user , but in the list how i can find
    new contacts ?

    Hi Dora,
    that's the fun thing:
You add your own property (and it'll be invisible to outlook users, not to worry).
Extended Properties allow you to define custom property on Exchange Items. And it has a
    method for setting those too.
Here's a short post doing a very simple intro on using Extended Properties.
Glen's Exchange Blog is a generally useful resource when working with EWS, I'm confident you'll be able to find lots of tips there as well.

  • Search-Mailbox not attaching the infected emails in target folder and deleting the contents in exchange 2010 & 2013 coexistence

    Dear All,
I have an issue with deleting circulated spam emails in my environment through search-mailbox
    We have Exchange 2010 & 2013  CU5 environment
I followed the search and destroy document for exchange 2010
    http://windowsitpro.com/exchange-server-2010/search-destroy-email-content-exchange-2010
Added the user to Discovery Management group
Created a new role group as below
New-RoleGroup "Mailbox Import-Export Management" -Roles "Mailbox Import Export"
Add-RoleGroupMember "Mailbox Import-Export Management" -Member Administrator
    I ran the below commands
Search-Mailbox -Identity "[email protected]" -SearchQuery "Subject:'report'" -TargetMailbox "Administrator" -TargetFolder "Filter" -LogOnly -LogLevel Full
The above command gets completed successfully and sends the log report  however im unable to see any attachments
Similarly the deletecontent also gets completed successfully and logs result. But it does not delete the infected emails
Search-Mailbox -Identity  "[email protected]" -SearchQuery "Subject:'report'" -TargetMailbox "administrator" -TargetFolder "filter" -deletecontent -LogLevel Full
Any idea why it is not fetching the infected emails in zip file and why it is not deleting but it is able to log in the target folder
    Any help much appreciated

  • Migrating user from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 succeeds but OWA redirects to 2010

    Hello everyone,
I am migrating users from exchange 2010 to 2013, Users migration works perfectly and completes without any issue but after the user migration finishes I try to login to OWA but user goes to OWA exchange 2010 not 2013 as if the mailbox has not been migrated.
I have checked the HomeMDB attribute and I can see the new database on 2013 is located there. how to solve this? I have retransfered the user back to 2010 and 2013 but it didn't work.
    I would appreciate your help.
    Thanks

    Hi Amit
After 30 mins approximately we checked the inboxes that have been migrted (2) and we found out they are working.
İ wonder why there is this delay ? İ have already done migration before but it never took this much time. İ would appreciate your reply.

  • Outlook client requirements and Exchange 2010/2013 coexistence

    Good morning!
A question regarding Exchange 2010/2013 coexistence and the Outlook client requirement. I am upgrading and about to install Exhange 2013 into an existing Exchange 2010 Org. The current 2010 Org is patched to SP-3 and Outlook Anywhere is currently disabled.
I have Outlook clients that do not yet meet the minimun requirements for 2013 (Outlook 2007/2010). When I install my first 2013 server will it effect the current downlevel clients? The mailboxes are still in 2010 so my thoughts were since the Office upgrade
including Outlook has not yet taken place I didn't want to wait for them to at least get 2013 into the Org. The 2013 server should effect the clients until I configure the CAS on 2013 and only when they are at the proper version, is this correct? Does Outlook
Anywhere need to be first enabled and configured on the 2010 CAS before I attempt the confgiuration on the 2013 CAS? I just dont want to install 2013 and have Outlook connectivity issues right out of the gate...
    Thanks in advance!

Outlook 2007 and 2010 are supported for Exchange 2013, you just need to push out the latest patches.

If you configure the URLs properly in Exchange 2013 to URLs that point to the Exchange 2010 servers, your clients shouldn't try to talk to the Exchange 2013 server.

  • How to hide list for particular users in SharePoint 2010

    Hello Experts,
How to hide/Show Custom list to a particular user or group in SharePoint 2010
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks & Regards, Abasaheb Dubal.

All the lists in SharePoint inherits permission from its site. To hide a list from a user or a group what you can do is break permission inheritance at the particular list level.
    1) Go to List and then click List Settings from the Ribbon.
    2) Under permissions and management click Permissions for this list
    3) Click Stop Inheriting Permission from the Ribbon
    4) Remove User or Group that you do not want to share that list with.

  • Odd issue with message tracking. (User's emails show as SUBMIT and not SEND. No Byte Size) Exchange 2010

    Hi everybody.
I had been tasked with tracking down a user's emails.
I ran a script in powershell to export data I could work with.
For some reason this particular user's emails in this time range do not show up as the EVENTID "SEND".
They also do not have a Byte Count nor a list of recipients.
They only seem to show up as "SUBMIT"
Apparently this user has been sending out emails with a large amount of BCCs.
Is there any way to actually see this activity? Why would it be showing up as SUBMIT and not SEND? Why won't it show any recipients or byte count?
    Here is my example script.
    Get-MessageTrackingLog -ResultSize Unlimited -Server "contoso-ex1" -Start "5/1/2014 12:01:00 AM" -End "5/8/2014 6:40:00 PM" | Select Sender,{$_.Recipients},{$_.RecipientStatus},MessageSubject,TimeStamp, EventId, Source,SourceContext,MessageId,InternalMessageId,ClientIP,ClientHostName,ServerIP,ServerHostName,ConnectorId,TotalBytes,RecipientCount,RelatedRecipientAddress,Reference,ReturnPath,MessageInfo
    | Export-Csv .\MessageTrackingLog.csv
Please note that only this one user's emails are showing only as SUBMIT. The rest are mostly SEND.

    Hi,
I’d like to double confirm the question: This issue occurred only on one specific user in a particular time range.
In other time, the message tracking shows correctly information for this user.
I suggest we check the application log during that time range and see whether there are any related event IDs about this user.

  • Outlook 2003 Free/Busy only shows 2 months for users on Exchange 2010

    Hi,
We are moving to Exchange 2010 from Exchange 2003 and have noticed that users who have been created on or migrated to Exchange 2010 who also use Outlook 2003 can only see 2 months worth of free busy information.
After doing some testing this is only an issue if the user who is looking at the free busy is located on Exchange 2010 and they are using Outlook 2003.  It doesn't matter if the mailboxes they are looking at are on Exchange 2003 or Exchange 2010.
If the user uses Outlook 2007 they see free/busy past 2 months.
We configure Outlook to publish 12 months of free/busy.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards
    Matt

    Hi Matt,
According to your description, the issue only happens in Outlook 2003 but not in other Outlook versions. Please check whether there is the Auto Accept Agent installed in your Exchange server. This issue occurs when you register the Auto Accept Agent to process
meeting requests for the affected mailbox.
Here is a KB related to this issue. Please follow it to configure the period for which you want to publish Free/Busy information in a registry entry on the Microsoft Exchange Server on which you have installed the Auto Accept Agent:
The published Free/Busy information for a mailbox is displayed for the default period of two months after you have configured a longer period in Outlook
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917687
The free/busy publish range reverts back to the default setting when you direct book a resource in Outlook 2003
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905817
Additionally, I recommend you upgrade your Outlook 2003 clients to Outlook 2010/2013 for better working. Because Microsoft ended support for Office 2003 on April 8, 2014.

  • Created mailbox for new user in Exchange 2010, user not visible in AD.

    Hi everyone!
This morning I created a mailbox for a new user on my Exchange 2010 box.
Everything works fantastically but I am unable to view the new user in AD except by searching.  If I run a search the results say the user exists in my Users container, and I can view the properties of the user account from the search results, but I
am unable to actually see the user profile object in the Users container.
I notice in EMC that the mailbox has a user icon on the mailbox icon instead of the regular standard icon - I'm not sure what this implies.
Can anyone offer some advice as to why this happens and how to resolve it?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
AD objects store in the Domain partition Database.
Its replication Scope is :Domain Wide
Its replication model is: Multi Master
    There are two possible cause.
    1. AD replication latency if you have several DCs.
You could wait for AD replication or force replication, Click
    refresh on ADUC.
    2. You create the new user
     in other OU, not  Users.
You could run this command to get
     the user’s DistingushedName attribution.
    Get-mailbox –identity

  • Exchange 2010/2013 co-existence and Lync integration

    Hello,
I'm looking at integrating Lync Server 2013 into my lab environment, which consists of a mixed 2010/2013 Exchange environment.
    UM - Exchange 2010
    CAS - Exchange 2013
    MBX - Exchange 2010
    MBX - Exchange 2013
I've been reading about associating CAS and MBX servers with UM dial plans, when integrating with Lync.
The Technet articles, and MS Press documentation I've read suggests that
all CAS and MBX servers need to be associated with the dial plan.
Does this include the 2010 MBX servers?
As far as I was aware, in a co-existence environment between 2010/2013 all traffic is proxied to the MBX servers via the CAS 2013 role?
Does this rule still apply when UM and Lync exist in the environment?
Also, does the 2010 UM server need to be associated with the Lync UM dial plan, or does the 2013 CAS server handle this traffic as well?
    Thanks
    Matt

So, just the UM server in 2010 would be associated with the dialplan, you won't even have the option to add a 2010 MBX server.
The traffic isn't proxied by the 2013 CAS, it's more of a redirect, and yes this happens.  A lot of what will happen under the hood will be somewhat transparent, Lync will determine where it wants to send the UM traffic.  You can
watch this in the Lync logger by watching SIPStack.
The 2010 UM server can be associated with the dial plan, but you might not need it unless you're trying to recreate that specifically in your lab.  Exchange 2013 UM can serve mailboxes on an Exchange 2010 server.
I would suggest just deploying it in your lab and watching what happens, that's half the fun. :)

  • Delete Single Email from sender to All Users in Exchange 2010

    Dear All,
I have received one virus from 163.com. i want to delete all mails coming from 163.com to all users mailbox. the subject and attachment words are common so we can not delete it by attachment name or subject name.
pls help me to delete by domain.
    Sunil
    SUNIL PATEL SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR

Before I do a search and remove like this, I like to run a message track first, to see how widespread the issue is. If it's only a few users who received the message, I would just run search-mailbox against their identity and remove the email. Here's an
example of the message track I would run:
Get-TransportServer | Invoke-Command {Get-MessageTrackingLog -Sender "[email protected]" -MessageSubject "Important information about your account" -Start "09/08/2014 00:01:00 AM" -End "09/11/2014 10:00:00 AM" | Select
    Sender,{$_.Recipients},{$_.RecipientStatus},MessageSubject,TimeStamp, EventId, Source, SourceContext,MessageId,InternalMessageId,ClientIP,ClientHostName,ServerIP,ServerHostName,ConnectorId,TotalBytes,RecipientCount,RelatedRecipientAddress,Reference,ReturnPath,MessageInfo
    | Export-Csv E:\temp\MessageTrackingLog-ShadyBiz.csv -NoTypeInformation}
Then, if it's a few users, I get their identity info from the spreadsheet and run this on each:
Search-Mailbox -Identity michaeld -SearchQuery subject:"Important information about your account", Sent:'09/08/2014..09/11/2014', from:'[email protected]' -TargetMailbox "ex2010security"
-TargetFolder "ShadyBiz" -Loglevel Full -DeleteContent -Force -Confirm:$false
This would put the found messages into a folder called ShadyBiz in a mailbox I designate, then delete the content from the user's mailbox (you could then use the info in the folder for reporting purposes
and delete it once you are done).
If you find you have to run this against all the mailboxes in your company, you might want to try this approach:
    $mbs=Get-Mailbox –ResultSize Unlimited | Where {($_.PrimarySMTPAddress –like ‘*yourcompany.com*’) –and ($_.RecipientTypeDetails –eq ‘UserMailbox’)}
    ForEach ($mb in $mbs) {Search-Mailbox -Identity $mb.identity -SearchQuery subject:"Important information about your account", Sent:'09/08/2014..09/11/2014', from:'[email protected]' -TargetMailbox
    "ex2010security" -TargetFolder "ShadyBiz" -Loglevel Full -DeleteContent -Force -Confirm:$false}
