Finding corodonates of a color.

hi what i am trying to do is find the coridanates of anywhere there is the color red and save this in 2 variables. one for the corodanets of the color on the x axis and one of the corordonates on the y axis. if anyone knows how please let me know and reply to this with the code.

Why can't I find certain Pantone plus colors in Illustrator CS6 color books? For example I want to use PMS 2296C, but it is not coming up in the color swatch book in Illustrator.

I actually just came across the same thing in the meantime.
And it worked!
If you bought the physical Pantone books, there is a registration/serial number on the back. You can go to Pantone and register it (https://www.pantone.com/pages/MYP_myPantone/mypProductRegistration.aspx)
Then you're able to download the Pantone manager.
There are infact 336 new colors added to the Pantone Plus series. And this is where you need to get them. Once you have them, in Pantone color manager, you go to: File/Export/Adobe Illustrator/sRB. Then restart Illustrator.
Once you go back in, the new 336 colors are available!

Finder - list view font color is grey, why can it not be changed?

Since upgrading to Mavericks, the font color in list view of Finder is a greyish color, not the classic black. the file name is still black font, but all other options (date modified, created, size, etc), are in a grey color, and it is hard to read. i have searched all over, for a way to customize this option. it seems it is the only feature you cannot customize in the update. i know using another view option does not have the same layout, but list view is most intuitive for me to use.
I like the tags use, color options, etc. i just wish all the text, the file name, and the categories to orgainize them, are in the same color.
any help / suggestions?

Find and Replace Font Colors in Multiple Text Boxes

Hello,
I have Illustrator version 15
I made many text boxes with multiple colors, red and black on each letter. I was wondering if there is a find and replace tool for multiple text boxes. I want to change the reds to black and the blacks to light grey. I tried clicking on change swatch color but it only worked for the letter I had selected, even with the global option selected. I then when to select -> Same -> Color Stroke but it just selected each text box on the page....Is there anyway to do this?

Not exactly a find and replace but you can do it.
Select the text frames yu want to change the colors using the shift key to click select the frames.
Then go to Edit>Edit Color>Recolor Art
You wll see a dialog with red and black bars along side two shorter bars click the shorter bars to select a New Color a color picker will appear you can use the swatches or the color mixer.
There is a live preview /so you will see the change in case you want to pick a different gray, of course you can always go back to the recolor art dialog.
I am afraid you manually have to select text frames with multiple colors in order to accomplish what you want but the method above I believe is the only want to change the colors.
This video shows how the dialog works but pretend the one frame I did not select is another color.

How do I find all of one color in a line drawing and replace it with another color?

Greetings, I'd like to replace this goat-puke green color with "black."
I have tried everything, but can't find the right command. I'm sure that nothing could be easier, but I'm stumped and will probably smack myself in the head when I see the answer. lol Please help.

Ctrl-shift-u (windows) cmd-shift-u(mac) - desaturates
ctrl-i(windows) cmd-i(mac) - inverts
ctrl-l(windows) cmd-l(mac) - levels
In the levels dialog box there are three triangles in the middle window, drag the far left triangle towards the right until your text is completely black. Oh yeah this also takes your black background and makes it white BTW the effect of the invert command.

I was attempting to use Kuler as a means to unite all the adobe programs around my color templates. With this use in mind, I was definitely interested in seeing the option to add more colors. Strangely enough, however, I've learned Kuler doesn't sync with photoshop CC (you can save to the web from it, but you can't download to PS from Kuler,) so I'm not entirely sure how useful this is to me. I have to manually download the profiles and drag them into the swatches category in order to use them, which to be fair is pretty useful (better than me manually entering them) - but it's a far cry from the ideal cloud-based organization structure of having your pallette's right where you need them in all your adobe applications.
My two cents: Adobe needs a much more comprehensive overhaul for tieing in professional pallette's. This may be Kuler, or it may not... either way, I see no difference thus far between using the products as I used to and using the creative cloud. When I think of cloud-based products I think of everything I need being tied to my account. Currently that's not possible with colors, it seems.
For what it's worth, I think it's implemented very well in InDesign, so with that respect I think Kuler is great save for the limitation of 5 colors. Perhaps it's worth having a "create" category, and a "library" category - that way you can label each color and save them in any amount you wish for retention of your current pallette's. I think that would be really cool - and if it was tied into Photoshop the same way it is tied into InDesign it would be nearly perfect. Seems like a relatively small tweak to the overall structure with a big payoff for us professionals if it can be implemented.

Cant find where to change color of one little strip on my large button?!

Hey guys im working with this template that i threw up at lit-media.com .. my problem is that if you go look the buttons on the slide, i got the colors changed to blue but theres still this small little strip of orange at the bottom of the buttons? i cant find anywhere in the css or source file to change it ?! help anyone?

Cannot find the new pms colors Pantone + solid coated

I have a Pantone + Solid coated book that has 336 new colors in the back. Specifically pms 2028 C. The problem is when I try to find it in the PMS charts in Illi CS6 or PS CS6, those 336 new colors are not in my Pantone + Solid coated charts. I ran the adobe updates and it updated what it needed but I'm still unable to find it. Am I looking in the wrong chart? The name matches that of my PMS book so it just doesn't make sense. I scroll through the Illi chart and also try to use the "find" section. Any help is greatly appriciated. thanks Kyle

PMS 2028 (and the list you describe) are not in the current Pantone lists in Illustrator CC (or earlier AI versions).
But you can make a spot color of your own choosing, and call it whatever you want (such as Pantone 2028). You may need to fake or guess on the actual color (in RGB or CMYK), but if you're separating for an actual (non-digital) printing press, your faked color won't make any difference, as the proper ink formulation for your spot color is what actually goes on the paper when it is printed.
If you're not separating for a traditional printing press, then what is the point of needing a specific Pantone color? Other than being used for ink formulations on a (non-digital) printing press, Pantone is an old, useless model, attempting to extend its relevance beyond the pull-date by forming software alliances with such as Adobe, etc.
For non-traditional printing, rather, develop the colors you want according to your specific output device, be it a photo printer, CMYK digital press, etc. -- If you really "like" PMS 2028, then develop that color (probably in RGB/HSB) for your specific output device.
Lastly, if you are printing to an actual printing press, and also need the 2028 color in your pre-press (digital) proofs, then you will need to develop it for your proofer (your specific non-press output device), probably with the caveat to your client that it is a color "approximation." Then use any spot color (titled, "Pantone 2028") for separations, as the actual ink will provde accurate color.

Finding out brightness of color

Is it possible to find out how bright is an color? I need to find the darkest color in document's swatches. My solution would be to convert (script internally, without actually making any changes in document) swatches to grayscale, compare them and pick the darkest. But how to convert swatch defined in undefined mode (they might be in lab or cmyk) to grayscale?
I found in 'js scriping reference' a method "convertSampleColor", but I have no idea how to use it. Any examples?

It works. But it took me a while to figure out, that grayscale should be written as GrayScale

Cover Flow, Quick Look and Finder icons ignore ICC color profiles

... and that really bothers me!
As a photographer, I tend to save photos with different color profiles embedded in them. Sometimes it's Adobe RGB, sometimes sRGB, sometimes Generic RGB (don't ask).
Aside from the apps that HAVE TO regard color profiles (Aperture, Photoshop etc), I was under the impression that color consistency is important throughout OS X. I am satisfied that Safari and Preview fully support color profiles, and that is why I am appalled that Cover Flow and Quick Look (my favorite feature in Leopard) do not! How do I know? It's in the plain eye sight.

Couple of things:
* either use your brackets like this:if(boolean) {
}or like this:if(boolean)
}but not both styles: it looks messy.
* in Java it is a convention that variable names and method names always start with a lower case letter. Class names start with an uppercase. Of course you can make up you own coding style, but imagine that when you work with a couple of fellow students (or co-workers) on a project and everyone would use their own style: your code would be hard to read!
* The linesshow();
setVisible(true);do the same thing. Remove the show() since it is deprecated.
Now, for your problem. The background of your JFrame is indeed changed, but you are placing other components on top of your JFrame so you can't see it's background color any more.

HELP! - Finding Specific Emails and Color options??

Hi..
Is there a way to group emails from a specific soure or with a specific heading etc (eudora does this for example by highlighting one and hitting option/command together-which then groups all emails in your box with the same source, title etc.)..and pull then all together in your in boxes..?
also is it possible to change the background color ( like Eudora) in Mail to something other than white? if so , how??...
and are their any other (other than fonts) way to improve the "look" of Mail?

Where can I find old prefs like color labels

After installing a new OS on a new HD after a HD crash, I would like to copy old prefs and settings like color labels, mailboxes and messages, maybe the dock (to see which software was installed on the old HD). I have a back-up of the old system.

If you were having no problem with prefs on your old system, you could just replace ~/Library/Preferences from your backup. You can do the same with other folders.
Here's a list of where your important data is stored ("~" stands for "Home"):
Your data in ~/Documents
~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook (copy the whole folder)
~/Library/Application Support/iCal(copy the whole folder)
Also in ~/Library/Application Support (copy whatever else you need)
