Finding days in between dates expressed in days.

Hi, i have a table having a structure similar to this:
LP1
TIME_EQ
P_DAY
LP2
17.2
0
MONDAY
16.8
0.25
TUESDAY
17.03
.5
THURSDAY
17
.75
FRIDAY
17.4
1
FRIDAY
16.9
.25
SATURDAY
17.1
.25
SATURDAY
17
.5
SUNDAY
Now, i have two variable dates D1 = October 10, 2013 (Thursday) and D2 = October 13, 2013 (Sunday).
How do i update my table such that only those rows covered between dates D1 and D2 are updated? In this case, rows where P_DAY in (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday)  I will use this for my cursor, my query begins with this:
CURSOR LOAD_PROF is
      SELECT LP1, TIME_EQ, P_DAY
      FROM LOAD_PROFILE_TEST
      WHERE P_DAY in (??? days between D1 & D2).
I hope you get my point.  Thanks.

Thank you sir for your response.  This is the start of my query where I will use that:
DECLARE
      CURSOR LOAD_PROF
      IS
           SELECT LOAD_PROF1,
                         V_TIME,
                         PROFILE_DAY,
                         DECODE(UPPER(PROFILE_DAY),

                                        'TUESDAY', 2,
                                        'WEDNESDAY', 3,

THEN
      FOR UE IN LOAD_PROF
      LOOP
           EXIT WHEN LOAD_PROF%NOTFOUND;
           UPDATE LOAD_PROFILE_TEST
                 SET LOAD_PROF2 = LOAD_PROF1 + :LOAD_DIFF;
      END LOOP;
ELSE
      FOR UE IN LOAD_PROF
      LOOP
           EXIT WHEN LOAD_PROF%NOTFOUND;
      UPDATE LOAD_PROFILE_TEST

COMMIT;
CALC_UE_AREA(:V_DATE, :V_SUBSTATION_CODE, :V_CIRCUIT_CODE);
CALC_UE_CUMUL_AREA(:V_DATE, :V_SUBSTATION_CODE, :V_CIRCUIT_CODE);
The column AREA is dependent from the column LOAD_PROF2, which I got by updating all the row in my cursor. The column CUMUL_AREA in turn, is dependent on the column AREA. After running these 2 procedures, i will now be able to compute for parameters which i need, using extrapolation method on the dates, LOAD_PROF2 & CUMUL_AREA
Anyways, I will be proceeding with this query for now.  I hope you can give me a better suggestion onhow to better approach my problem.  Thanks very much for your help.  I will now close this thread but again, I will still wait for your suggestion.  Thanks again.

  • How to count the days between Date Range using OO ABAP?

    hi experts,
            i want to count the days between Date Range using OO ABAP for that  which class and method  can i use?.
    Thanks,
    Mahesh.

    Not sure I understand the requirement for it to be OO, but you could always write your own (i.e. use this):
    REPORT zz_date_diff.
    CLASS date_diff DEFINITION.
      PUBLIC SECTION.
        METHODS diff IMPORTING     i_date_fm TYPE d
                                   i_date_to TYPE d
                     EXPORTING     e_days    TYPE i.
    ENDCLASS."
    CLASS date_diff IMPLEMENTATION.
      METHOD diff.
        e_days = i_date_to - i_date_fm.
      ENDMETHOD."
    ENDCLASS."
    DATA: g_ref TYPE REF TO date_diff,
          g_days  TYPE i,
          g_date_fm  TYPE d VALUE '20080101',
          g_date_to  TYPE d VALUE '20090101'.
    START-OF-SELECTION.
      CREATE OBJECT g_ref.
      CALL METHOD g_ref->diff
        EXPORTING
          i_date_fm = g_date_fm
          i_date_to = g_date_to
        IMPORTING
          e_days    = g_days.
      WRITE g_days.

    I am trying to check the last date (i.e. max date) and also check the penultimate date (i.e. the second to the last date).  And then find the difference between the two (i.e. last date minus penultimate
    date).
    I would like to do that for each of the companies listed in Table 2: Tickers.  I am able to do it for just one company (MSFT) using the queries below:
    SELECT
    [First] = MIN(ExDate),
    [Last] = MAX(ExDate),
    [Diff] = DATEDIFF(DAY, MIN(ExDate), MAX(ExDate))
    FROM (
    SELECT TOP 2 Dividends.ExDate
    FROM Dividends, Tickers
    WHERE Dividends.symId=Tickers.symId
    AND Tickers.Symbol='MSFT'
    ORDER BY ExDate DESC
    ) AS X
    Outputs the following result:
    First
    Last
    Diff
    2012-11-13
    2013-02-19
    98
    But what I would like instead is to be able to output something like this:
    Symbol
    First
    Last
    Diff
    MSFT
    2012-11-13
    2013-02-19

    1
    X
    2012-11-13
    2012-12-14
    1
    Can anyone please let me know what do I need to add on my query in order to achieve the desired output?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Find difference between date

    I need to know how i can find difference between date
    like Joining date: 01-jan-2009 Today 10-jan-2010 result will be "1 year 10 days"
    I need it in Oracle forms 6i. plz help me...

    Hi,
    In oracle forms you can use
    RESULT :=
    TRUNC ((:date2 - :date1 + 1) / 365)
    || ' year and '
    || MOD (:date2 - :date1 + 1, 365)
    || ' days';
    in sql you can use
    SELECT TRUNC ((:date2 - :date1 + 1) / 365)
    || ' year and '
    || MOD (:date2 - :date1 + 1, 365)
    || ' days'
    FROM DUAL;

  • Finding days difference

    how can I find the days difference comparing two date values: i.e. I have my_date column and sysdate and I wanna find the difference between them in days.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    Also you can use round, floor, ceil as per your requirement to remove the fractional part.
    Regards.

  • Extract Time from date and Time and Need XLMOD Funtion to find the Difference between Two Time.

    X6 = "1/5/15 5:16 AM" & NOW ....................difference by Only Time
    not date

                Dim myDateTime As DateTime = X6
                Dim myDate As String = myDateTime.ToString("dd/MM/yy")
                Dim myTime As String = myDateTime.ToString("hh:mm tt")
                Dim myDateTime1 As DateTime = Now
                Dim myDate1 As String = myDateTime1.ToString("dd/MM/yy")
                Dim myTime1 As String = myDateTime1.ToString("hh:mm tt")
    Need to use this function to find the Difference between Two Time. due to 12:00 AM isuue
    Function XLMod(a, b)
        ' This replicates the Excel MOD function
        XLMod = a - b * Int(a / b)
    End Function
    Output Required
     dim dd  = XLMod(myTime - myTime1)
    Problem is myTime & myTime1 is String Need to convert them into Time, Later use XLMOD Funtion.

    Induhar,
    As an addendum to this, I thought I'd add this in also: If you have two valid DateTime objects you might consider using a class which I put together a few years ago
    shown on a page of my website here.
    To use it, just instantiate with two DateTime objects (order doesn't matter, it'll figure it out) and you'll then have access to the public properties. For this example, I'm just showing the .ToString method:
    Option Strict On
    Option Explicit On
    Option Infer Off
    Public Class Form1
    Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, _
    ByVal e As System.EventArgs) _
    Handles MyBase.Load
    Dim date1 As DateTime = Now
    Dim date2 As DateTime = #1/1/1970 2:35:00 PM#
    Dim howOld As New Age(date1, date2)
    MessageBox.Show(howOld.ToString, "Age")
    Stop
    End Sub
    End Class
    I hope that helps, if not now then maybe at some point in the future. :)
    Still lost in code, just at a little higher level.
      Thanx frank, can use this in Future....

  • How to find out the Hire date of an employee?

    Hi All
    What is effective date, Latest start date and other date fields which are are used when we create a new employee?
    What is the difference between hire date and joining date?
    How to find out the Hire date and joining date of an employee?
    Regards
    Rahman

    The effective dates are related to date tracking. The effective start date shows when this version of the record became effective.
    The Hire Date, or Latest Satrt Date shows the date on which the employee was last hired. If he was hired before from 01/01/01 to 31/12/01, then left but was hired again from 01/01/07, the Latest Hired Date would be 01/01/07 and the First Hired Date would be 01/01/01.
    When using Oracle HR, datetracking allows you to either correct data (because it was wrong or incomplete), or update it (because a time effective change took place e.g. got married).
    The[b] effective dates show when a record was updated. So, if an update was made on 07/02/07, and the update datetrack option was used, the current record would have its effective end date set to 06/02/07 (the day before the update) and a new version would be created with the updates and an effective start date of 07/02/07.
    Hope this helps.

  • Count number of hours between dates excluding holidays/weekends

    Hello all
    I havent worked with dates extensively and was recently asked to create a report where Im looking for the number of hours between two dates only counting business days.
    So for example I have data as follows
    Created 2011-03-30 15:00:00
    Processed 2011-03-30 15:03:46
    Fulfilled 2011-04-01 17:25:02
    Mailed     2011-04-01 17:45:00
    For a total of looking from the CREATED and MAILED dates
    50 hours 45 minutes
    Im also trying to exclude weekends and holidays, i was reading around and was actually able to also find a table of dates where I have the main date, HOLIDAY_IND column and WEEKDAY_IND column
    So the calender table i have looks similar to
    CALENDER_DATE HOLIDAY_IND WEEKDAY_IND
    2011-03-31 Y Y
    2011-04-01 N Y
    2011-04-02 N N
    Im really quite stumped as to where to begin
    I was thinking of trying to write it with PL/SQL but i dont have the proper user access to create procedures/functions, so looks like straight up SQL
    Any help appreciated!

    Hi,
    Depeneding on your data and your requirements, you can do something like this:
    SELECT     created_DATE,
    ,     mailed_date
    ,     24 * ( (mailed_date - created_date)
                SELECT  COUNT (*)
                FROM        table_o_dates
                WHERE    main_date > created_date
                AND        main_date < TRUNC (mailed_date)
                AND        (   holiday_ind = 'Y'
                         OR  weekday_ind = 'N'
               )               AS hours_between
    FROM     table_x
    I hope this answers your question.
    If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all tables, and also post the results you want from that data.
    Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
    Always say which version of Oracle you're using.
    What do you want to do if created_date or mailed_date is not a work day? Include examples in you data and results.

    Hey,
    You can try this
    SELECT  DATEDIFF(Day, D1, D2) as Date_Diff from Table_3
    Replace day with
    other units you want to get the difference in, like second, minute etc.

  • Query for difference between dates

    I know I can use the DATEDIFF
    How can I write it if StartDate and EndDate are in these formats?
    StartDate: 2006-09-20 00:00:00.000
    EndDate:   2013-09-20 18:20:53.000
    I want to find the number of days between dates of dates in the two columns

    Those work great, What if I want to use values from a table?
    I have a column called StartDate and a column called EndDate with dates in it. I just what it to show the StartDate in a column, the Endate in column and the number of days in a column.
    Hi,
    Based on your description, do you want to display the following result?
    USE <DatabaseName>
    GO
    --Create a table named DateTest
    CREATE TABLE DateTest
    (StartDate datetime,
    EndDate datetime
    INSERT INTO DateTest
    VALUES ('2006-09-20 00:00:00.000','2013-09-20 18:20:53.000'),
    ('2007-05-06 12:10:09.000','2008-05-07 12:10:09.000'),
    ('2007-05-07 09:53:01.000','2009-05-08 09:53:01.000'),
    ('2008-08-07 05:53:01.000','2010-08-08 05:53:01.000')
    -- Create another table named DateTest1
    SELECT DateTest.StartDate, DateTest.EndDate,
    DATEDIFF(DAY,DateTest.StartDate,DateTest.EndDate) AS days_number INTO DateTest1
    FROM DateTest
    SELECT *FROM DateTest1
    --Below is the result
    StartDate EndDate days_number
    2006-09-20 00:00:00.000 2013-09-20 18:20:53.000 2557
    2007-05-06 12:10:09.000 2008-05-07 12:10:09.000 367
    2007-05-07 09:53:01.000 2009-05-08 09:53:01.000 732
    2008-08-07 05:53:01.000 2010-08-08 05:53:01.000 731

  • How to find out the last date & time on which a program has been run

    Hi Experts,
    Can anybody tell how to find out the last date on which a purticular program has been run.
    Valuable answers will be rewarded.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Satish.

    Hi!
    Try STAD transaction. Unfortunately it contains a huge amount of data, so it is available only for a few days backwards... Maybe some weeks, but you can't make yearly reports from its data... So it's not useful to see, which program is in use or not...
    I planned once to download it weekly, but it was not so important...
    Regards

  • Difference between Dates: BW Query???

    Hello all,
    A.I have to get the difference between dates i.e Date1 and Date2.
    I have used a 2 formula variables for each one of them with Replacement path - Key - number as the settings.
    When i execute the difference between the 2 formula variables, i get inconsistent results if the dates are from 2 different months.
    Example(Correct Result)
    Date1 = 14.02.2005
    Date2 = 10.02.2005
    Result = 4
    Example(Incorrect Result)???????
    Date1 = 14.02.2005
    Date2 = 10.01.2005
    Result = 104
    Iam know that system is converting the date as a number like 20040214 and 22040110 and just substracts.....This is not correct....any solution to circmvent this problem???
    B.If iam using a user-exit for variables, how to pass the values Date1 and Date2 to user-exit so that i can calculate the difference of days using a function module.
    I know how to use a user-exit but not sure about working on 2 fields at a time for a formula variable????

    1) For the first problem, I think you should play with the replacement path settings (type, offset,...).  I did this before and I'm sure it worked.
    2) If the variables are entered in the variable screen there is no problem to use a function module (it works with steps --> look at the how-to), but I think you want to calculate not on variables but on the keyfigure values itself, in this case you will have to use virtual characteristics.  There is also a how-to about this, I can't help you with the details my self.

  • Difference between Data Grid and Data Forms

    Hi all,
    What is the difference between data grid and data forms.

    Data entry forms are pre defined and are generally used to manually input data into reporting (financial statement) schedules.
    They can also be used for reviewing purposes and it gives users a presentable / and consistent format to view data in Hyperion.
    Data grids are the equivalent of pivot tables in excel. It should be used for ad hoc purposes to view / analyse data in whatever form you choose. The user has the flexibility to choose what they see in the rows, columns and page dimensions.
    One of the main differences between data entry forms and data grids is that you can’t export data grids to excel whereas you can with data entry forms. Other differences are:
    1. Run consolidation, translation, promotion from data grids but not in data entry forms.
    2. You can link other data entry forms to a data entry form
    3. Data entry forms offer greater formatting options than in data grids i.e. colours, fonts, bold, italics.
    At the end of the day, they are similar and there is no reason why you can’t have (use) both. It all depends on your local needs on how best you use both.
    I hope above information helps.

  • What are the main differences between Signal Express and Labview?

    National Instruments provides a matrix so one can quickly compare the
    various versions of Labview but no comparison of Signal Express with
    Labview. Hence how does Signal Express compare with Labview? What
    are some of the things one can do with Labview one can't do with
    Signal Express?

    hrh1818 wrote: Which version of Labview are you referring to? I don't consider the graphical version of Labview to be a full featured programming language. LabWindows/CVI is by a long shot a lot closer to being a full featured programming language than the graphical version of Labview.
    Howard,
    You clearly don't know what you are talking about. There is no "graphical version" of LabVIEW, there is just LabVIEW. Click on the article "Is LabVIEW a general purpose programming language?" written by the Jeff K. for some easy reading from a few years ago. It is all still true (except that object oriented features and recursion have been added in recent versions).
    One of the main points at this years NI-week was the discussion of how processor development is switching more and more to multicore designs  to improve performance because a simple boost in clock frequency is becoming more difficult. Linear, text based code is not well suited to take advantage of multticore design, while the dataflow based LabVIEW programming language automatically scales well to multiple processor cores, without any need to rewrite older code. I would say that only LabVIEW is futureproof in this respect. LabVIEW programmers are not wimps that are simply too stupid to write text based code. LabVIEW is not a toy language for people that don't want to learn a "real" programming language.
    LabVIEW is arguably the best programming language in terms of getting things done! I've never felt limited with LabVIEW and my programs often don't even have anything to do with data acquisition or instrument control. The difference between text based code vs. LabVIEW is like "DOS vs. Windows", "Radio vs. HD television". "Trilobyte vs. Homo sapiens" (sorry Putnam ). Text based code is monochrome, archaic and outdated and its linearity imposes unecessary constraints on the programmer that can only be (partially) overcome by wasting even more time throwing even more code at it.
    Sure, a seasoned text based programmer will initially have problems adapting to LabVIEW, just because you would need to adapt to and embrace the power of dataflow and not try to make a literal translation of the text code to LabVIEW, retaining old habits. If you get stuck, come back and ask here in the forum.
    You were looking for object oriented features and failed. All you need to do is a quick site search. All the information is out there. Just because you cannot find it in the first five sentences of the glossy brochure does not mean it does not exist. Maybe you want to read one of the application notes such as:
    LabVIEW Object-Oriented Programming: The Decisions Behind the Design
    In general, you should avoid judgement until you have all information. Your opinions seem quite biased and superficial and not really based on hard facts.
    Initially you asked about the difference between signal express and LabVIEW.

    No thanks, there has to be a better way to get an answer to my
    question than get involved in a two month study project.
    If you would answer the first question quoted above, we could certainly help you with the decision. Isn't that the main purpose of this thread?
    You can also contact your local LabVIEW Field Engineer to go over your requirements and help you make a decision. They usually know their stuff!
