Finding locked objects in design repository?

Does anyone know if it is possible to get a list of objects that are currently locked by users inside a design repository?
I am looking for something that is equivalant to what v$locked_object is for Oracle objects. I've tried looking at the tables/views/procedures defined in the Control Center but I haven't been able to figure out a way to do it.
I am writing some scripts to automate the export/import of MDLs between repositories. I'd like to be proactive about checking locks in the repository before attempting to import the MDL.
Thanks.

HI,
it seems that OWB uses DBMS_LOCK package for locking objects, so you can extract OWB internal lock names from SYS.DBMS_LOCK_ALLOCATED table (name OWB locks begin with 'OWB'). Locked object id (from all_iv_all_objects) specified at the end of lock name in reverse order.
But I don't now how to get type of locking (opening object also creates a lock).

    Hi,
You can unlock locked objects in transaction SE03.
    Click on Display Repaired objects.
You can see all the objects that are locked.
To unlock you can select the particular object and click on Unlock.

  • How to find locked object query?

There is random error ORA-00054 coming during execution of one process which is using SELECT FOR UPDATE NO WAIT statement.
Logs of process is showing row is accessed only once but still it gets error of "resource busy".
So there must be any other session which is locking object and it is not identifid. I want to identify which other session/user is locking object.
I am trying with below query which shows session id, terminal name and object name which is locked.
    SELECT a.sid,a.serial#, a.username,c.os_user_name,a.terminal,
    b.object_id,substr(b.object_name,1,40) object_name,sysdate
    from v$session a, dba_objects b, v$locked_object c
    where a.sid = c.session_id
and b.object_id = c.object_id But i want information of SQL query from v$sqltext so i can find out throughout the applicaiton where it is executed?
    Thanks

Finding session that it locking is not a problem.
Finding SQL responsible is not necessarily straightforward.
You might be lucky. You might not.
If the SQl responsible for locking the row ran for a long time or was blocked by something else, AND you're on version >= 10g AND you're licensed for Diagnostic Pack, then you should find some evidence in ASH - DBA_HIST_ACTIVE_SESS_HISTORY.
Doug Burns has a 10-part series on the subject.

  • Migration of Designer Repository Owner from 7.3.4 to 8.1.7

My goal is database import from Oracle 7.3.4(Windows NT 4.0) to Oracle 8.1.7( Linux 7.1).
But, I have problem with importing Objects of Designer Repository Owner( no matter whether Designer 2.1 or Designer6.0).I gave Designer Repository Owner all necessary privileges an roles, but import just hangs! I can't find in log some exact information.
    Thanks in advance!

I do that-full export, then full import. Then I found out that Designer Owner makes problem.
I tried to import only Designer Owner, but it didn't work again!

  • The creation of device local data objects - Unable to find generated object

    Hi all,
I get an error when I try to generate an ESDMA containing a "Device Local" data object.
I have created a "Device Local" data object containing a very simple node structure. The object is "active" and everything seems to work fine, until I generate the ESDMA. The following error is shown : Unable to find generated objects in repository.
The esdma is generated without problems, when I remove the device local data object.
I hope you have some ideas of what the issue might be.
    Best regards,
    Nima

    Hi Siva
Actually i am working on this problem together with Nima and the problem is not related to SAP Basis objects.
The problem is in SDOE_WB, with the SWCV. Creating a Data object of type LOCAL DEVICE and a NODE. If you add a field/s and then activate, and look in Generated objects The Table object is not generated (only the structure and the table type).  At this point there are no syntax/error messages.
If we try to generate an esdma using the ESDMA design time, using this SWCV, it fails, with the message, Unable to find generated objects, in the repository. That is it is looking for the Table object that was not generated in sdoe_wb. This is only a problem with creating a data object of type DEVICE LOCAL, every other type of DO is fine.. I assume it is an SAP error.

    Hi Neha,
When you create a lock object System automatically creat two function module.
    1. ENQUEUE_<Lockobject name>. to insert the object in a queue.
    2. DEQUEUE_<Lockobject name>. To remove the object is being queued through above FM.
You have to use these function module in your program.

  • Import design object into integration repository

    HI.
We are going to import "XI3_0_SAP_BASIS_6.40_SP09_01.tpz" into integration reposiotry. So, we move this file into "G:\usr\sap\DEV\SYS\global\xi\repository_server\import" and start integration reposiotry.
Then, I clicked tool -> import design object but system can't find any object.
How can I fix this ?
    Regards, Arnold.

    Hi,
Generally, the import of this component is done during installation itself, just check if the installation has been completed. Check out michal's FAQ blog to get simple steps to check if installation has been completed properly. You can probably copy the tpz version of the SAP BASIS component again from the installation DVD and try and import it.
Btw, what kind of a platform is XI running on - Unix platform? Whatever it is, are you able to see the tpz file at its location? Check if the folder that the tpz if existing in has all the permissions to pick up the file.

  • Design Repository Configuration objects after an import

I have 1 design repository to development environment and another to production environment.
I have 3 target schemas in Development and 3 target schemas in Production.
Then I make a Metadata Export of my Development Project and a Metadata Import in my Production environment (MDL).
Now I have all objects in my Design Repository in Production environment.
I know that I have to change the Locations parameters (for example: The Host Name and Port Number)
Do I have to change anything else?
What do I have to change?
    Thanks!

Apart from location and physical configuration parameters, dont we have to re-import(reconcile) the tables and PL/SQL transformations also?
We faced a similar situation, when we imported the project in different environment and changed the location, the validation gave an error.re-importing the tables and PL/SQL transformations solved it.
we are using OWB 10.1 with oracle 10g on windows2000 server.

  • Lock objects

    Hi experts,
My requirement is to create lock for parent table and its child tables. Each and every child tables is having relation with the parent table.

    1) Select object type Lock object in the initial screen of the ABAP Dictionary, enter an object name and choose Create. The name of a lock object should begin with an E (Enqueue). The maintenance screen for lock objects is displayed.
    2) Enter an explanatory short text in the field Short text. You can then use the short text to find the lock object at a later time, for example with the R/3 Repository Information System.
    3) Enter the name of the primary table of the lock object. All other tables in the lock object must be linked with the primary table using foreign keys.
    4) Select the lock mode of the primary table in the field below it The lock mode is used as the default value for the corresponding parameters of the function modules generated from the lock object.
    5) Choose Add if you want to lock records in more than one
table with the lock object. A list of all the tables linked with the primary table using valid foreign keys is displayed. Select the appropriate table. The lock
mode of the primary table is copied as lock mode. You can change this setting as required, for example you can assign the lock mode separately for each table.
Similarly, you can add a table linked with the secondary table just added with foreign keys. To do this, place the cursor on the name of the secondary table and choose Add.
If no lock mode is assigned to a table, no lock is set for the
entries in this table when the generated function modules are
called. You should not assign a lock mode if a secondary table
was only used to define a path between the primary table and
another secondary table with foreign keys.
    6) Save your entries.
A dialog box appears in which you have to assign the lock
    object a development class.
    7) You can define whether the function modules generated from
the lock object should be RFC-enabled on the Attributes tab
page. If you set the Allow RFC flag, the generated function
modules can be called from within another system with Remote
Function Call. If you permit Remote Function Calls for an
existing lock object, you must ensure that the generated
function modules are called from within an ABAP program with
parameters appropriate for the type. You should therefore check
all programs that use the associated function modules before
activating the lock object with the new option.

  • How to create a lock object in se11

    hi all,
Can anyone tell me the step by step procedure to lock as well as unlock a particular object in se11 trns code. with an real time example.
    thanxs in advance
    hari

    Hi,
Lock objects are use in SAP to avoid the inconsistancy at the time of data is being insert/change into database.
SAP Provide three type of Lock objects.
    - Read Lock(Shared Locked)
protects read access to an object. The read lock allows other transactions read access but not write access to
the locked area of the table
    - Write Lock(exclusive lock)
protects write access to an object. The write lock allows other transactions neither read nor write access to
the locked area of the table.
    - Enhanced write lock (exclusive lock without cumulating)
works like a write lock except that the enhanced write lock also protects from further accesses from the
    same transaction.
You can create a lock on a object of SAP thorugh transaction SE11 and enter any meaningful name start with EZ Example EZTEST_LOCK.
Use: you can see in almost all transaction when you are open an object in Change mode SAP could not allow to any other user to open the same object in change mode.
Example: in HR when we are enter a personal number in master data maintainance screen SAP can't allow to any other user to use same personal number for changes.
    Technicaly:
When you create a lock object System automatically creat two function module.
    1. ENQUEUE_<Lockobject name>. to insert the object in a queue.
    2. DEQUEUE_<Lockobject name>. To remove the object is being queued through above FM.
You have to use these function module in your program.
    Creating Lock Objects
    Procedure
1.Select object type Lock object in the initial screen of the ABAP Dictionary, enter an object name and choose Create. The name of a lock object should begin with an E (Enqueue).
The maintenance screen for lock objects is displayed.
2.Enter an explanatory short text in the field Short text.
You can then use the short text to find the lock object at a later time, for example with the R/3 Repository Information System.
3.Enter the name of the primary table of the lock object.
All other tables in the lock object must be linked with the primary table using foreign keys. There are also some restrictions on the valid foreign key relationships.
4.Select the lock mode of the primary table in the field below it.
The lock mode is used as the default value for the corresponding parameters of the function modules generated from the lock object.
5.Choose Add if you want to lock records in more than one table with the lock object.
A list of all the tables linked with the primary table using valid foreign keys is displayed. Select the appropriate table. The lock mode of the primary table is copied as lock mode. You can change this setting as required, for example you can assign the lock mode separately for each table.
6.Similarly, you can add a table linked with the secondary table just added with foreign keys. To do this, place the cursor on the name of the secondary table and choose Add.
7.If no lock mode is assigned to a table, no lock is set for the entries in this table when the generated function modules are called. You should not assign a lock mode if a secondary table was only used to define a path between the primary table and another secondary table with foreign keys.
    8.Save your entries.
A dialog box appears in which you have to assign the lock object a development class.
9.You can (optionally) exclude lock parameters (see lock objects) from the function module generation on the Lock parameter tab page. This makes sense for example if you always want to lock a parameter generically.
To do this, simply deselect the Weight flag for the parameter. The parameter is not taken into consideration in the generated function modules. This parameter is then always locked generically.
9.The name of a lock parameter is usually the name of the corresponding table field. If two fields with the same name are used as lock parameters in the lock object from different tables, you must choose a new name for one of the fields in field Lock parameter.
10.You can define whether the function modules generated from the lock object should be RFC-enabled on the Attributes tab page.
If you set the Allow RFC flag, the generated function modules can be called from within another system with Remote Function Call.
11.If you permit Remote Function Calls for an existing lock object, you must ensure that the generated function modules are called from within an ABAP program with parameters appropriate for the type. You should therefore check all programs that use the associated function modules before activating the lock object with the new option.
    12 .Choose Activate .
    Result
When you activate the lock object, the two function modules ENQUEUE_<lockobjectname> and DEQUEUE_<lockobjectname> are generated from its definition to set and release locks.
You can find information about the activation flow in the activation log, which you can display with Utilities Activation log. If errors occurred during activation, the activation log is displayed immediately.
    Pls reward points.
