Finding out what Subtype a reference is

Hi!
I'm trying to bulid an applicaton with abab g and as a Java developer I'm doing it with Abap Objects. Now I have a nice abstract superclass and now I have to check references what type they have, before casting them into the subclasses. I'm looking for something like "instanceof" in java. Does someone know how to do that in Abap?
Best regards
Patrick Lehmann

Hi,
Sure, we do have runtime type identification for each object instance.
Use the Class CL_ABAP_CLASSDESCR to get the RTTI of any object instance.
Read more on how to use this class in Class documentation.
Hope this helps.

• How do I find out what features are not useful in my Classifier?

How do I find out what features are not useful in my Classifier? I am trying to trim down the number of features to speed up the training of my data, I have about 3700 features. I have found the Filter Based Feature Selection Module and have not been successful
in using it. I have looked through all the examples and have not been able to find any examples using the module. Will the Filter Based Feature Selection Module help me to trim features. If so how do I use it?

One way to do this would be is to use a random forest classifier. Feature/variable importance can be obtained relatively easily with random forests.
Here is how you may do it in R.
> install.packages('randomForest') #install randomForest package in R if it is not already there
> library(randomForest) # reference the library
> data(mtcars) # load motor cars data that ships with
#train a random forest
> mtcars.rf <- randomForest(mpg ~ ., data=mtcars, ntree=1000,keep.forest=FALSE, importance=TRUE)
> importance(mtcars.rf)
> importance(mtcars.rf)
#You will see an output like below
%IncMSE IncNodePurity
cyl 16.168645 169.96741
disp 18.672188 260.08722
hp 17.584375 184.95007
drat 6.948743 63.54528
wt 17.818509 254.30347
qsec 4.772889 33.25546
vs 5.303058 24.39064
am 5.210181 17.36626
gear 4.619161 21.55450
carb 8.577037 28.46715
# or plot the importance as follows
> varImpPlot(mtcars.rf)
What this tells you is how important predictors/features/variables like horsepower(hp), weight(wt), no. of cylinders (cyl) is in predicting miles per gallon (mpg).
If you are wondering how the data looks like. Try this
head(mtcars) # gives first few lines of the data set.
mpg cyl disp hp drat wt ...
Mazda RX4 21.0 6 160 110 3.90 2.62 ...
Mazda RX4 Wag 21.0 6 160 110 3.90 2.88 ...
Datsun 710 22.8 4 108 93 3.85 2.32 ...
. Try this

• Is there any way to find out what brush is applied to a path?

I'm trying to write a script: select some paths, run the script, then each path that has a brush applied to it is changed to use a random brush whose name is sufficiently similar to its current brush. The application is pretty obvious - draw a bunch of lines in, say, 'ragged marker 1', then give it some extra liveliness by having five or six 'ragged marker' brushes that get randomly chosen.
The problem I'm running against is that as far as I can tell, Illustrator only lets Javascript set what brush an object is using with brush.applyTo (artItem), but I can't seem to find any way to find out what path a brush is currently using via JS.
Am I just not looking in the right place of the Javascript reference, or is this really a thing that only has a setter, with no corresponding getter?

Just like you said earlier

• SQL Server Software ISO, How to find out what is the Edition and Version of the SQL software before starting installation

Hi All-
Before starting installation, I would like to find out What EDITION and VERSION is the SQL Server Software ISO.
Please note this is not to find out what version is the installed sql server but before the installation: Is there a note or abrv. that describes what kind of Edition and version is the ISO?
Detail explanation is appreciated.
Thanks.
belayzeleka

@Balmukund - Thanks for the input - That one is a nice blog!
But assuming you can`t change the Product Key value (you are not provided that number, as you know it gets populated by itself) can you find out
what implies the corresponding edition? If there is a folder where this reference is store, could you provide the full file path where this folder is located?
The ideal solution would be a way to find out what the Edition
is befor we start installation.
Thanks!
Also just to add what I came across:
The SQL Server 2012 installation software comes with pretty much all edition in it, that kind of makes it difficult to easily identify what edition is the specific ISO, but when
one downloads from MSDN one must downloads the
right edition either Standard,
Enterprise, etc so that when you install it, it installs whatever edition is downloaded.
The best source would be whoever downloaded the software.
Also, before going too far, you can find out what edition it is being installed right before the setup wizard finishes on the
License Terms page (Microsoft Software License Terms Page) and if the edition is not the one you intended to install, you can cancel it there and everything will be rolled back- no hastle.

• How to find out what the authentication is for

This is a general info-sec-related question applicable to all recent OS X versions.
Occasionally when I'm doing things on my Macbookpro running Mavericks I get a dialog that I'm sure all of us have seen. It says something along the lines "[Some program] wants to make changes to the system. Enter admin password to authorize."
How do I find out what exactly I am giving permission for when entering admin password? How do I know which restricted resource [Some program] is trying to write to? Is there an advanced user view of that dialog?
It just doesn't seem fair to have the choose between failing the task I'm trying to accomplish by canceling and giving some shady program, basically, root access by giving it admin password.

Boooooo thumbs down for that answer: completely useless, counter productive, diverting discussion away from solving the problem towards pointless discussion of what I should've known and not known. Please refrain responding unless you have comments that are constructive. We can discuss the theory of UI design after this problem is solved.
Here is a specific example showing how diverse range of issues affected by the problem is. I just ported a copy of Ableton Live to another account my Mac. That includes several complex sample libraries and configuration folders. Since they used to belong to the other account, the ownership and permissions of all of the was super messed up. I fixed most of permission issues before firing up any big projects. A typical project references hundreds of files. At some point while working on one of the typical project the dialog saying "Live wants to change your system. Enter password if you authorize." Pops up. How do I find out which resource has broken permissions without the prohibitively expansive trial and error linear search of all possibilities?

• How do I find out what I have recently purchased for the app store and iTunes I.e films, songs, albums

How do I find out what I have recently purchased from the app store and iTunes I.e films, songs, albums & apps?>.<

On your iPad, you can open iTunes and click on Purchases. Plus, when you purchase something from iTunes, you should get an email with the purchase details to the email you set up as your Apple ID. They sometimes take a day or two and with the volume of things being purchased with the millions of new iPads out there in the last 3 days, that may be a bit longer. I keep every receipt I get for future reference.

• Is there a way of finding out what has been accessed on my MacBook Pro whilst in the possession of an apple authorised service centre?

Hi Guys,
I'm a bit new to this discussion group thing although I've been using Macintosh computers for many years (showing my age).
I handed my MacBook Pro to be repaired at an authorised apple service centre. When I handed it in they said they needed to keep hold of it to run some diagnostics and requested my password. I've owned various models of mac for the the past 17 years and this is the first hardware problem I have encountered, hence I have never bothered to set up user accounts.
As I live in quite a remote part of Sweden I am paranoid that some untrusted technician is going to make a copy of my music (11,000 tracks) or share some of my personal information (scanned copies of my birth certificate, passport, certificates, photos, etc.) on the web. Is there a way of finding out what activity has taken place whilst they've had it in their possession?
I appreciate any advice you guys can offer.
Thanks!
PS: I've already thought about the 'recently opened' menu and The machine in question is a MacBook Pro 17" (2011) running OS X 10.6.8 (need Rosetta).

I am paranoid that some untrusted technician is going to make a copy of my music (11,000 tracks) or share some of my personal information (scanned copies of my birth certificate, passport, certificates, photos, etc.) on the web.
If you put your info into the computer and hand it to another, you have to assume they will copy everything.
Why are you putting scanned copies of valuable identity information into a computer than can be hacked, stolen, lost or compromised by a dirty tech?
Have you lost your mind?
Is there a way of finding out what activity has taken place whilst they've had it in their possession?
No. The tech would just deny it if he did, or tell the truth which the answer would be "NO" in either case.
The employer won't ask that sort of questions without solid proof, less they make a enemy of the employee and/or risk being sued for defamation of character.
It's not like they bother to have a team of people watching over his shoulder that he doesn't stick a USB thumb drive of your data into his pocket to take home.
I am paranoid that some untrusted technician is going to make a copy of my music (11,000 tracks)
If it's iTunes music, it has your personal ID embedded into the song files. Most IT techs know this though.
I appreciate any advice you guys can offer.
Too late now, all you can do is not worry about it.
Take your personal info out of the machine and if you need it, burn cd/dvd copies, a few USB thumb drives, Iron Keys or self encrypting external storage drives with key and/or keypad.

I do i find out what is taking up all of my gb on my iphone 4? I have deleated all of my pictures, music, and games. There is nothing left in the usuage column to deleate but it says i have used 3.8. Where is it hiding?

What is using 3.8GB of space?
If looking at the summary tab in iTunes, what specifically is taking up space?
If looking in Settings > General > About on the device, what specifically is taking up space?
You have the device in front of you, so you can determine what is taking up space. We only have the information provided by the user to go on.

I have files that may have been created in various versions of Illustrator. We need to be able to open them, but all we have is CS6 suite. I have called and been told that "technicians at adobe" could perform a paid service to find out what the files were created in and get them to be useable in InDesign 6, but I'd need an email address that was registered to our software to give the help desk person. After finding the correct email address, different adobe help number people told me to come here to ask as there is no phone support. Can anyone get me to an adobe technician that can provide a price quote for finding out what created these files and for getting them converted? Thanks.

Sorry, I understood you to say you had the whole CS6 suite, which includes Illustrator.
As far as finding out what the files are, sometimes you can look at them in a text editor to figure this out. See below; the, Creator Tool line. Not every software package makes it this easy, though.

• 11.1.2- Need to find out what reports are being executed by a user

Hi,
We have financial reports executed from workspace. In essbase session , only the user id is displayed and the Request type- mdxreport is displayed. We also tried searching the log for Financial report didnt find anything relevant.
Is there a way to find out what reports are being executed by the user.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Saumya

STAT will give you the information for a limited period of time and is limited to the server which you are logged onto yourself. Beyond 24 hours it is of even less use even if you change the selection screen values.
If you want it for a period way back into the past, then you need to use ST03N.
There are at least 2 dependencies and 1 confusion:
1 dependency) The length of period is determined by the size (length) of the file. You can change this in ST03N (default 50MB) via the menu settings.
2 dependency) The stat collector jobs need to be scheduled to write the information to ST03N (once per hour is a legal requirement in some non-banana republic countries).
1 confusion) There is an obscure function which converts a report submit to a transaction name (there is not much difference anyway) and an even more obsure one which filters what ST03N will record and therefore whether you can read it. You can (un)filter these things away if you search the SAP Marketplace for the term "MONI".
What is of particular value from this control is that you can even detect a submission of an abap which only existed temporarily.
Also note that having this information is potentially very powerfull with respect to the users (some of them are human too), so you should expose and use it responsibly.
You should also ensure that only responsible users / auditors have access to S_TOOLS_EX.

Sounds like you want your administrative password on the Mac so can install? For starters, you'll want to ask in a Mac forum. I know you used to be able to reset it using the install disk but haven't tried that for years.
