Fingerprint scanner issues

the finger print scanner has locked me out of my main account and i can't do much from my other accounts do to this

If you have installed HP client securoty manager or HP Protect tools. Uninstall it. During removal it will ask you whether to keep the settings or remove them. Remove them.Once this is done, the logon issues should go away.

  • Fingerprint scanner issue with Win 7 and Satellite Pro A300

    SORRY MODEL IS A300.
Upgraded/overlayed Vista to Windows 7 Professional and have found fingerprint scanner not working.
Unable to remove program and wont accept fresh install of fingerprint scanner or even new fingerprint to be scanned. (Old Vista program working in background somehwere?)
Is the fingerprint scanner which was installed under Vista now not compatible with WIndows 7.
There seems to be no upgrades or downloads for Fingerprint Drivers for Windows 7 as yet.

    Hi mate
To be honest I doubt that Win 7 drivers would be published for this oldie.
I mean the Satellite Pro A30 is a older series and even Vista drivers were not published for this model row
I searched on the Toshiba European driver page but I found only the W2k, Win XP drivers for this unit
So if you want to use Win 7 on this notebook, then you need to collect the drivers at your own hand and this would be the same with the fingerprint reader. Maybe the driver designed and released for other series would work.
It looks like Toshiba is in progress of driver release for different series you could take a look to the different series and could try the drivers.

  • Probook 450g1 windows 10 fingerprint scanner issues

Since downloading the windows 10 update, I can know longer use the biometric finger print scanner to log ino windows!!Updated drivers in : device manager - validity sensor, yet drivers were up to date.  I see that HP have no Windows 10 support forum entrys of options on there website of yet, thus will this issue be dealt with soon? If anyone knows of any fixes, it would be appreciated.

  • Lenovo B570 Fingerprint scanner not responding/is gone and other issues

    Hi,
I've been having some issues lately with my laptop. It comes with a fingerprint scanner, but as of yesterday is stopped working. Normally I can login by swiping my finger, but now it doesn't even show up. It usually has 3 users slots on the login screen. Mine, my sisters, and another slot for the fingerprint scanner. Now that third one doesn't even show up. My fingerprint scanner isn't reading anything at all, nor is it even showing up in many places. I have no idea what could have caused this. Any help?
    I'm running Windows 7 64bit on my Lenovo B570.
I'm not sure if it's related, but when I went to check my drivers to see if it was a driver issue, I found that a bunch of hardware was not working due to driver issues. They wouldn't let me update, giving me a Code 31 error, saying that the file could not be found. The ones that aren't working are listed below.
    Microsoft 6to4 Adapter
    Microsoft ISATAP Adapter
    Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface
    WAN Miniport (IKEv2)
    WAN Miniport (IP)
    WAN Miniport (IPv6)
    WAN Miniport (L2TP)
    WAN Miniport (Network Monitor)
    WAN Miniport (PPPOE)
    WAN Miniport (PPTP)
    WAN Miniport (SSTP)
If anyone could help me fix this, I would be eternally grateful.

I grasp that you updated your system to Windows 7 professional. All was working well until an automated Windows update was installed and now the fingerprint reader is not working.
You have tried to reinstalling the original driver but receive an error when trying to uninstall it.
Would you try deleting the driver and not uninstalling it.
There is also a Digital Persona Fingerprint Reader Software(null) ,have you tried deleting/uninstalling and reinstalling it?
If the issue remains, as it was working until the update was installed you can try a restore or removing that particular update.
Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 7)
To view the installed updates go to the control panel/programs and features/view installed updates.
If you believe the updates caused the issue you can
If the recovery partition is still intact you could try reinstalling the driver from it.  Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 7)
    I hope this helps!

  • Fingerprint Scanner no longer working in Windows 10

Hi, I just updated from Windows 7 to the Windows 10 technical preview (10130).  The fingerprint scanner on my laptop no longer works. In Windows 7 when I used it with LastPass, it worked well. Now, it does not seem to register a swipe. I tried to grab the latest drivers from the HP support site, but that did not seem to solve the issue.  Product number: A3E82AV Thanks.

Hi , I understand that you are having some troubles with the fingerprint reader on your system, after installing the Windows 10 tech preview. You may want to try updating to the current build which is 10162. Each update tends to have a series of fixes and new features, ( and sometimes a few more issues). Currently the only drivers for Windows 10 tech preview, are a part of the operating system. Also please read the following post Welcome to the HP Windows® 10 Technical Preview discussion board. by . It includes general information about the Tech Preview as well as links to the various Microsoft pages for preview. Also if you wish to get the free upgrade to the release version of Windows 10, when it comes out, you will probably want to go back to your original factory operating system, to qualify for it. I hope this helps.

  • The Fingerprint scanner doesn't work on my HP ProBook 6455b

When I got the laptop, it had Windows 7 on it and the hardware was customized so the laptop has  2.8gHz CPU and modified GPU and that's it. It came with the fingerprint scanner, but never worked and I never tried to set it up. Now, I upgarded to Windows 8, and now 8.1 Preview.
    Operating System
     Windows 8.1 Pro Preview 64-bit
    CPU
     AMD K10 55 °C
     45nm Technology

    Optical Drives
     hp CDDVDW TS-L633R

Now, I installed HP Simplepass, but nothing happens and when I attemp to enter my Windows password, it says "invalid". I checke Device Manager and it says under Biometric Scanner, Validity Scanner, and updated it.

    Hi,
See if you can access the notebook in Safe Mode as follows.
Shut down the notebook. Tap away at f8 as you start the notebook to enter Windows Recovery Console.  Use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode and hit enter.
If you can access your Admin account in this mode, click the Start Menu, click All Programs, click Accessories, click System Tools and launch System Restore.  Pick a restore point before the SimplePass update and then proceed with the restore process.  When complete, Windows will reboot as normal.  See if your original password/finger scan now works.
    Hope it works..

  • Satellite P300 PSPCCA - fingerprint scanner malfunction

I have had my p300 for a little over 8 months know and have been using the fingerprint scanner along with the bundled software to login and to protect a VERY large amount of data personal and work related documents.
And yesterday when i wanted to access some schematics for work i opened the folder and right clicked on the file clicked file unprotection the little box with the finger print popped up said scan fingerprint i did so and it said scan too short.
I scanned again and again and again same result each time.
What do i do im thinking of sending it in for service to have the reader/scanner replaced.
I have tried reinstalling the software and i restored the entire partition from a back up from two weeks ago but with no results.
    It still says too short.
Is their anything i can do on my end so i dont lose my laptop again for 6 weeks (yes it took them that long to service my laptop and in the end i still had to go pick it up from the repair centre)

    Hi buddy
    I found this Toshiba FAQ:
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9802O50000R01.htm
This doesnt provide an solution for your issue but it provide a info about the files which are protected by fingerprint.
The point is that if you would try to reinstall the OS and would move the files to other location then the files cannot be accessed anymore and you will not be able to unprotect them anymore :(
I have no idea why your fingerprint reader does not read your fingerprint. Maybe there is something wrong with the sensor or something like that
I think its not a software issue since you can receive and message from fingerprint saying the scan was too short therefore Im thinking its related to a sensor or scanner.
Hmm it would be interesting to know if the fingerprint would functions after the system recovery but this would means that whole HDD would be formatted and you would lose the files

  • T430 doesn't resume correctly via fingerprint scanner

Hello, I have a pretty new T430 and occasionally (about 30% of time time) when I try to resume from hiberation or sleep via the fingerprint scanner, it will start to boot, maybe even show the desktop for a brief second, but then stop on a black screen. The cursor is visible and active, the fan and drive are running, but that's it. The only thing I can do is hold down the power button to force a shut down and boot again.
I'm running Windows 8, and I hoped that downloading the new driver from http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS029769 would fix this, but it hasn't. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

I posted the same exact issue yesterday, but somehow my post is gone.
I have a T510 and mine constantly does this (every time, never fails). I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers multiple times with no resolution. When I do a fingerprint login, it logs me in, shows the desktop and all active content/windows, and then goes right back to the fingerprint screen.
The only way to get it to "stick" (not go right back to the lock screen) is to quickly click and focus the mouse on some application/area within the desktop, as soon as it's visible for the split second that it's shown.
*NOTE*: Mine happens on login, not just resume. If my screen is locked because of idle and I try to log back in using the fingerprint reader this happens every time.

  • Fingerprint scanner not working_Can't re-install fingerprint scanner driver on my dv6-1080el

    Hi all!
I'm facing a really annoying issue with the fingerprint scanner on my hp dv6-1080el.
I recently switched to Windows 7 professional 64 bit (3 weeks ago) and installed all the drivers needed (fingerprint scanner included).
After few days in which the systems was perfectly working, following a windows automatic update -I guess- the fingerprint scanner stop working. Then, I tried to re-install the driver (original one downloaded from hp site: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-75502-3&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&... but every time I do that, I got this error message:
An error occurred during the installation of assembly
    'policy.8.0.Microsoft.VC80.CRT.type="win32policy",version="8.0.50727.762"publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchiteture="amd64"'.
Please refer to Help and Support for more information.
Obviously, before doing that, I uninstalled the device in the "device manager" and then, once the system is rebooted, windows automatically install (successfully) the driver for the biometric device and according to what written in the device status the device is "working properly".
Actually I cannot even see the fingerprint scanner icon when I log on to the system, so the device is clearly not working.
Can someone tell me how to solve this issue?
Thanks in advance to everybody can help me on this!

  • Why won't Firefox 4 allow me to use my fingerprint scanner on my laptop?

I have an HP laptop with a built in fingerprint scanner. With previous versions of Firefox I was able to use that to log on to websites that require a username and password. However, I just downloaded Firefox 4 today and this new version will not allow me to use the fingerprint scanner. Can this be fixed?

    Hello Tdp86,
It sounds like you are having an intermittent issue where you are unable to access your movies, and you cannot play them at all. I want to recommend starting by signing out of the iTunes store in settings:
From the main Apple TV menu, choose Settings > iTunes Store.
From: How to rent a movie from the iTunes Store on Apple TV
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1498
    Then restart the Apple TV:
Restart your Apple TV by selecting Settings > General > Restart.
From: Apple TV: How to restart your Apple TV
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3180
Then test the issue again and see if it works correctly, and consistently.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Regards,
    Sterling

  • HP Probook 4540s: Fingerprint Scanner Not Working

    Hi,
Problem: Fingerprint Scanner - Windows log in does not give option to log in via fingerprint scanner.
Overview: After installing fingerprint drivers from the HP site and using the HP Protect Tools to successfully enroll fingerprint, I tried logging in via this method but the windows log in screen does not display this option. Device manager correctly identifies and shows the fingerprint sensor - however, the control panel says no biometric devices detected.
I really need help in sorting out this issue. Details of what steps I took trying to make the scanner work are given below.
    Specs:
    1) Probook 4540s
    2) Windows 7 64-bit
    3) i5-3210m, 1Gb Hd 7650m, 4 Gb 1333Mhz, 750Gb 5400rpm, VFS 491 Fingerprint scanner.
Details of the problem and steps I took to install drivers:
After a fresh installation of Windows 7, I went to the HP driver site to download the latest drivers for Probook 4540s:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=5229457&...
I installed the drivers in roughly this order:
    1)realtek ethernet controller drivers,
    2)audio drivers,
    3) the chipset and USB 3.0 drivers (but not the Intel MEI driver)
    4) Intel video driver: faced an issue such that drivers were not being allowed to install. After disabling switchable graphics in the bios, I was able to get these drivers to install.
    5) AMD video drivers: installed after the intel HD graphics driver - installed but Catalyst Control Center was not being displayed. So I re-enabled switchable graphics in BIOS, re-installed these drivers and CCC was now available.
    6) HP hotkey support
    7) HP universal camera driver
    8) Validity Fingerprint sensor
    9) Synaptics Touchpad driver
    10) Atheros wifi & bluetooth
    11) Jmicron card reader
After driver installation, I installed the HP Protect Tools. After prompting for a PC reboot - which I did - it asked for setup of security etc.. Part of this pocess was the enrolling of my fingerprints - successful. However, upon log off/ restart of windows, an option to log in with the fingerprint scanner did not appear in the Windows log in screen.
I opened the Control Panel, and found there was no biometric devices tab, even though device manager showed biometric device and validity sensor (VFS 491). I then proceeded to uninstall HP protect tools and the validity driver for the fingerprint sensor, then made sure these services were running:
    -Credential Manager
    -Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
    -DCOM Server Process Launcher
    -RPC Endpoint Mapper
    -Windows Biometric Service
    -Plug and Play
Then as suggested in another forum post, I first installed this :http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55109.exe and then the validity drivers from 4540s drivers page, and then HP Protect Tools.
After reboot HP Protect Tools as before would enroll my fingerprints, but again no prompt at windows login came to log in with fingerprint. However, one change after the installtion of http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55109.exe was that in control panel there is now a tab for biometric devices; however, it says that windows did not find any biometric devices installed. An image is attached showing both the device manager and the control panel!
Please HP provide a solution. Thanks!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Ok problem solved. I dont know whether it is related to the installation of HP windows 7 Essential System Updates and Intel MEI driver or not - but I did install these.
What really worked without doubt was this - > install both the fingerprint drivers and then the HP Protect Tools. Once rebooted, open HP Protect tools, then go to administration in the bottom right corner -> Administrative Console ->Increase System security -> tick windows login security and your done. Now you will be able to log in via enrolled fingerprints.

  • HP Pavilion dm4 3050us Entertainment Notebook Fingerprint scanner

Alright, so I just got my HP Pavilion dm4 3050us (Running Windows 7-Home Premium) a few days ago, and ever since I've been trying to figure out this fingerprint scanner. I just CANNOT figure out how to work it, or even open/start/launch it at all. It's like my notebook doesn't even know that it was freaking built into the dang thing. I've opened the biometric devices section of the Hadrware and Sound section of the control pannel, and it comes up saying "Windows did not find any biometric devices on this computer. You might need to attach your device or install device drivers." I also tried opening the device manager and there wasn't even a section specified to biometric devices. I've updated the BIOS to the 2012-02-17, version F.08, 4.75M, and I installed the device driver for the fingerprint scanner that is compatible with my notebook (AuthenTec Fingerprint Sensor Driver, 2011-10-28, Version 3.2.1.10, 6.83M). I just don't get how my notebook can't detect something that is freaking BUILT INTO it . . . I have no clue what else to do.
    Please help!

  • HP dv-7 Fingerprint Scanner Problems

Recently, my fingerprint scanner stopped working to log me into browsers. It still works for the initial log-in, however, so I know it's functioning, it just won't recognize Google Chrome for some reason.
I updated my fingerprint scanner and yet I'm still having the same issues. My default broswer is Google Chrome, I've made sure the extension is working, but nothing's changing it. The pop-up for the fingerprint scan whenever I get to a log-in page is only working with Internet Explorer, which I'd rather not use if I can avoid it.
Any help would be appreciated. Some suggestions I've read said I might need to un-install and re-install my fingerprint software-if I do so, I'm guessing it won't retain all my passwords/webcards?
Also, if this is in the wrong section, I apologize. It's been a trying day.

No more ideas on this side.
I did pull up a new installation of Chrome and I did poke at it a bit - does not work for me, either.
I am not a regular Chrome user -- I might be missing something, though I think it did work a few weeks ago.  ?
I would recommend that you try Firefox, perhaps last week's version (or older).  Yeah, I know... "Eeew, different browser."  Firefox works with SimplePass.  It is fairly rock-solid in my experience.  You may have to turn off Hardware Acceleration if you use version 17 or beyond.  The latest FF version is way past V17.x by now.
If I think of anything else useful, I will post back.
I am sorry I was not able to help.
Reminder:  Keep your Webcard Export updated!
    Edits:
Forgot this:  The extra little SimplePass icon in the Chrome ribbon can be removed in the Chrome Settings (that set of horizontal bars on the right side of the page along the ribbon).  Look in Extensions, you may have two SimplePass entries -- the more recent one, or either one, can be removed by just clicking next to the entry on the tiny Trashcan.
Will that fix it?  Doubtful.  I had two entries in Extensions after having "added" the SimplePass Extension again, though I never did actually see the extra icon in the ribbon.
One thing you might try, just in case:  Disable the Extension, log out and reboot the system, then come back into Chrome and enable the Extension again.
I think the issue might be deeper than a simple Extension error -- I wish I know what is wrong with it.
    Kind Regards,
    Dragon-Fur

I understand that you cannot get the fingerprint scanner on your notebook computer to work. Have you completed all of your HP and Windows updates on your computer? I would be happy to help you, but first I would encourage you to post your product number for your computer. Below is a is an HP Support document that will demonstrate how to find your computer's product number. In addition, it will also help if you indicate which operating system you are using; and whether your operating system is 32 or 64 bit. The more information you can provide, the better!
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Which Windows operating system am I running?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?
Please re-post with the necessary information, this way I will be able to research this further for you. I look forward to your reply!
