Firefox 10.0.2 causes "image data corrupted" warning message during update try on OSX 10.7.3?

I tried to update firefox 10.0.0 to 10.0.2 on Mac Pro OSX 10.7.3 which failed with warning "Image data corrupted". Any ideas what to do?

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
*Firefox 10.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
*Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
*Install the new version that you have downloaded

Try booting into the Safe Mode.  Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once. You can download from the Safe Mode.

  • HT5167 image data corrupted message when installing anything. Please help!!

A couple of days ago something happened and now every time I tried to install an app i receive the following mesage: (app being installed file name).dmg image data corrupt. Can anyone point me in the right direction please???

All of the posters need to take their system to an Apple Genuis bar and have whatever is wrong with them fixed.
It is either some software you have installed. The hard drive has become corrupted in some way or you have a hardware problem.
    Or all of the above.
Wish all of you good luck.

I did repair through sidk utility but of no use. Any suggestions?

I did try reinstalling Snow leopard but no use, I even did a clean install but of no use. Am not able to install anything when trying to open any dmg file the image data is corrupted. I cant even do the software update, its showing error that the download is corrupted. Any help please?

  • Image data corrupted & safaridomainerror error 1 messages

Hello, everytime I download something on the net (flash player, as an example) I get these messages: "image data corrupted" & "safaridomainerror error 1" messages.
I did the repair permissions thing, but no luck.
I downloaded the same files on windows 7 and copied them to an USB drive for the same results.
    Thanks in advance.

I don't think so, I am able to download functional files on Windows 7. And on my MacBook I justly downloaded a mp3 file with no problems. This problem seens to be related to .dmg files.

  • Reg: Uploading data with Warning Message

    Hi,
I have searched the forum and found a lot of threads related with this. But nothing fits my scenario or I didn't get the solution correctly from them.
My scenario is I recorded a BDC. When I run it in foreground, sometimes I get warning messages based upon the data to be uploaded. But if I run it in foreground, I press enter and then data will be saved.
When I run the same BDC in background, the data won't be uploaded as I miss that pressing of Enter there. The thing is that, this warning could happen anywhere (any screen, any field). How can I handle this?
    Regards,
    Jubish

    Hi,
You should sit with your functional consultant and do the recording part. He should be able to tell you where these warning messages can come. Or please check with him if you can avoid these warning messages. It becomes difficult to handle warning messages in BDC if we don't know where they might come.
So, once you know where these warning messages come, you can put additional code for enter in your BDC at that place. It should solve your purpose.
    Thanks,
    Archana

  • Firefox will not open, I am getting a crash message when I try to open through Run on windows start up menu, then it will not transmit the error to firefox

When I go through the Run option on Start, it just says Firefox has had a problem and has crashed, we will try to restore your tabs and windows when it restarts. I click on "restart firefox" and then it opens up another window with the exact same message. Also, I cannot remove firefox through the add/remove programs option on windows. I click on remove and nothing happens.

You can try reinstalling Firefox. You can get the latest version for free, as always, at [http://getfirefox.com getfirefox.com]. Just install it over your current install. No data will be lost.
If that doesn't help, it's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and themes and [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+plugins this one] for plugins.
If you need support for one of your add-ons, you'll have to contact its author.
If the problem does not disappear when all add-ons are disabled, please tell me, so we can work from there. Please have no fear of following my instructions to the line, as all can be easily undone.

  • Audio buzz and video cut-out caused by volume shadow service errors during updates and other services that create shadow copies

I have this issue and see throughout the Internet that my problem is shared by large numbers of other Windows 7 users, and a few Windows 8 users.
I also see that Microsoft has not addressed the issue.
I've been troubleshooting the problem for 13 months and across 3 separate hard drives on 2 separate computers, with the help of tech escalation from both Carbonite and Dell (whom I wanted to eliminate as causes, and who have been kind enough to assist even
after being eliminated as causes because they evidently care about customer service).
Over 13 months we have run system diagnostics, reinstalls and repairs to no avail.  We have been able to reproduce the event in the absence of every attached device, every installed program, every subscribed service, and every hardware type and configuration.
We have visited chat rooms showing that this is a widespread problem (e.g., http://superuser.com/questions/630033/audio-video-glitch-when-shadow-copy-service-starts), and that even professional server administrators simply consign themselves to VSS being "the
    bane of backup software" (http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/229743-problem-with-vss-writer-system-writer-timed-out).
Yet regardless of the computer or the configuration, the problem persists.  It causes characteristic and alarming disk write error and memory spikes on the Resource Monitor that can be traced to huge numbers on the System 4 and VSSVC.exe processes, occurring
every time the Volume Shadow Copy Service and Application Experience create a restore point during an automatic update of Adobe, antivirus, etc.; and one can even provoke an event simply by manually creating a restore point, which has the bonus of triggering
an 8220 notice that the Volume Shadow Service has run out of time while deleting files.  And the only advice I've seen from MS is that this is a "normal condition."
It is not normal to be unable to enjoy audio and video.  And it is certainly not normal for one's PC to continually degrade with every update until it becomes unable to update and must be replaced.
I am on my 3rd computer with this problem (different type and configuration each time), and Dell has offered me an upgrade to Windows 8 in the hopes that the problem will not recur there.  But I see from Microsoft's tech chat that Windows 8 users are reporting
    the problem as well (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-pictures/after-upgrading-to-windows-8-pro-there-is-an/813432c2-14f1-463f-bba3-ad322ceb6e00).
Please, please post a real answer to this problem.  Thank you.

    Hi,
Above all I understand the frustration as a same issue persists for a very long time.
At first I'm thinking if it is directly related to the application CrashPlan some customers mentioned in one of the threads you provided. However I then noticed that you said it could be also reproduced by creating a System Restore point.
Currently I cannot find a Windows 7 system so I used a Windows 8.1 laptop (also Dell) for testing.
I tried to play an online video and also a local video with creating a restore point in the middle. However I failed to reproduce the same behavior.
The following screenshot was captured in second test (play a local video):
I cannot confirm if it is because we have a large physical memory (8GB), or Windows 8.1 resolved this issue. From the screenshot, memory is not spiked (actually it is almost not changed).
So in current situation you can test to enlarge the size of physical memory (and virtual memory) for test if available. And as Dell provided a Windows 8 system, you can try it before and after installing Windows 8.1.
As a support engineer I also hope to help fix the issue or at least find out the cause. Later I will try to find a Windows 7 system for testing as well.
In addition, please understand that as the issue occurs mostly in Windows 7, though it seems related to VSS, it is still a Windows client system issue. So you can post the question to Windows 7 forum for further information. Here is the link:

  • Deleting a transport while being imported will cause data corruption ?

    Hello,
Could someone please advise whether deleting a transport request while being imported (having the truck symbol) will cause a data corruption, or that all the changes done to the file system will be rolled-back ?
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
    Best regards.
    Reda Khalifa

Please note that the production system usually is locked for changes,
E g it is not possible to retreive previous version of objects (not allowed).
kaushal is right, if you have the very same object in an older request, you can choose to import it again.
Please be carefull since all objects in the request will be imported, so it's important that only the objects you want to reset is in the request.
Depending on the transport system setup, you might need to delete the request from the import queue, add it via menu Xtras --> Other Requests --> Add and enter the request
Select the old request for import.
Note that you need to set the option "Import Transport Request Again" otherwise nothing will happen.

  • How can I minimise data corruption?

Mac OS X is great, and one of the greatest things it has achieved is an environment so stable that it almost never crashes.
However, for me the next BIG problem with using computers is data corruption. Data corruption problems bug my life as much now as system freezes/crashes did 5 years ago.
For some reason, it often seems to be preferences files that become corrupt. I don't know why, or whether other files are becoming corrupt too and I've not discovered it yet. Sometimes I wonder whether it's just because of all the junk I install, or the length of time it's been since doing a clean format. However, with my recent purchase of a Macbook, and within a couple of months having all my preference files becoming corrupt, this goes against those theories. My macbook has minimal amounts of software installed, and is generally kept quite simple.
Obviously backing up is an important strategy, but that leads to a whole load of decisions like, how often to backup, do you keep incremental backups, do you restore absolutely everything when you discover 1 or 2 corrupt files (how do you know if others have become corrupt?).
Correct shutting down is something I always do - unless something prevents me from doing so, like power cuts. I've also often had a problem with the sccreen remaining blank after macbook has slept or had the screensaver on. On occasion I've had to hold down the power button to shut it down and get it going again.
I've looked into uninterruptible power supplies. Unfortunately, the ideal setup with additional battery to provide a few hours of power are very expensive. Also, should the macbook not be immune from problems caused by power fluctuations because of the battery? I certainly did get a system crash recently when there was a power cut - but at the time I just wondered if it was due to the wireless router going off.
.mac and idisk seem to cause their share of problems. Again, I'm not sure if these are the cause or a consequence of the problems. I have iDisk syncing switched on, and on a few occasions it's vanished and I've had to reboot to get things back to normal. Recently there have been warnings of clashes between .mac and the local idisk.
Filevault is another possible cause of problems. I've read people advising against it's use. However, if someone is willing to steal my macbook, I don't want that sort of person having access to anything, whether it's address book contacts, calendars, word documents or anything financial. OK, people suggest creating an encrypted disk image, but that doesn't solve the problem of preventing people accessing address book or ical.
What I'd really like to know is, what are the main causes of data corruption. If I can identify the causes I might be better prepared for trying to prevent it. For example, if 99% of data corruption is due to power fluctuation then I might accept that I need to spend the money on a UPS.
Once identifying the possible causes, what can be done to prevent them. Would a RAID 1 configuration protect against data corruption, or is it only good in cases of catastrophic drive failure? I've just purchased a 500GB external Firewire 800 drive, which raises the option of creating a RAID 1 with my 2 built in drives.
Sorry for so many questions, but I just really need to get this sorted. Since moving from OS 9 to OS X this has regularly been my biggest cause of troubles.

    Hi, bilbo_baggins.
You wrote: "What I'd really like to know is, what are the main causes of data corruption..."You've already identified them, but you seem reluctant to implement the procedures needed to mitigate or avoid those causes that can be mitigated or avoided, in particular:• Power outages or power problems.
    • Improper shutdowns.
    • Hardware problems or failures, e.g. hard drive failures, bad sectors, bad RAM, etc.
    • Bad programming.I can understand your position since:• Not everything one needs to run their computer comes in the box: additional money must be spent.
    • The solutions often seem more complex to implement than they really are. One needs some guidance, which again it does not come in the box, and few books address preventing problems before they occur. Here's my advice:
    1. Implementing a comprehensive Backup and Recovery Solution and using it regularly is essential to assure against data loss in the event of a hard drive failure or other problems. For advice on the backup and recovery solution I employ, see my "Backup and Recovery" FAQ. Using a personal computer without backup and recovery is like driving without auto insurance. Likewise, without a Backup and Recovery solution, you are accepting the risk of potentially losing all of your data at some point.
    2. Perform the little bit of required, regular maintenance: see my "Maintaining Mac OS X" FAQ. It covers my advice on "regular maintenance" and dispels some common "maintenance myths."
3, If you use a desktop Mac, you need an Uninterruptible Power Supply: power outages and other power problems —surges, spikes, brownouts, etc. — can not only cause data corruption but damage your hardware. I have complete advice on selecting a UPS in the "Protecting Against Power Problems" chapter in my book. Don't simply walk into a store and by the first UPS recommended by a clerk: the UPS needs to be configured and sized to match your computer setup. You don't need hours of battery run time: 10-15 minutes is sufficient to save your work and perform a proper shutdown, or for a modern UPS to perform an automatic shutdown if your computer is running in your absence.
    4. If you regularly "solve" problems by performing a hard restart (pressing and holding the power button or, on Macs so equipped, the restart button), then go back to work without first troubleshooting the cause of the problem, you risk letting a small problem compound into a larger problem. At a minimum, after a hard restart your should:• Run the the Procedure specified in my "Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption" FAQ.
    • Then troubleshoot the cause of the problem that led to the hard restart. My book also has an entire chapter on methods for troubleshooting "Freezes and Hangs."
    5. Likewise, hoping that by installing a Mac OS X Update will fix a problem, or simply reinstalling one, without first checking for other problems, can make a bad problem worse. Before installing software updates, you may wish to consider the advice in my "Installing Software Updates" FAQ. Taking the steps therein before installing an update often helps avert problems and gives you a fallback position in case trouble arises.
    6. FileVault does not corrupt data, but it, like any hard drive or disk imge, doesn't respond well to the causes cited above. This is why it is essential to regularly backup your encrypted Home folder using a comprehensive Backup and Recovery solution. FileVault is an "all your eggs in one basket" solution: if bad sectors develop on the hard drive in the area occupied by your encrypted Home folder, you could lose all the data therein without a backup.
    7. RAID: IMO, unless one is running a high-volume transaction server with a 99.999% ("Five Nines") availability requirement, RAID is overkill. For example, unless you're running a bank, a brokerage, or a major e-commerce site, you're probably spending sums of time and money with RAID that could be applied elsewhere.
RAID is high on the "geek chic" scale, low on the "average user" practicality scale, and high on the "complex to troubleshoot" scale when problems arise. The average user is better served by implementing a comprehensive Backup and Recovery solution and using it regularly.
    8. I don't use .Mac — and hence, don't use an iDisk — so I can't advise you there. However, I suspect that if you're having problems with these, and the causes are unrelated to issues of Apple Server availability, then I'd suspect they are related to the other issues cited above.
    9. You can't completely avoid problems caused by bad programming, but you can minimize the risk by not installing every bit of shareware, freeware, or beta code you read about just to "try it out." Stick to reliable, proven applications — shareware or freeware offerings that are highly rated on sites like MacUpdate and VersionTracker — as well as commercial software from major software houses. LIkewise, a Backup and Recovery solution can help here.
    10. Personal computers today are not much more advanced than automobiles were in the 1920's and '30s: to drive back then, you had to be part mechanic as well as driver. Cars today still require regular maintenance. It's the same with personal computers today: you need to be prepared for troubleshooting them (mechanic) as well as using them (driver). Computer hardware can fail, just as autos can break down, usually at the worst possible moment.
People whose homes or offices have several Macs, a network, and the other peripherals normally associated with such setups — printers, scanners, etc. — are running their own data centers but don't know it. Educating yourself is helpful: my "Learning About Mac OS X" FAQ has a number of resources that you will find helpful including books, online training, and more. My book focuses exclusively on troubleshooting, with a heavy emphasis on preventing problems before they occur and being prepared for them should they arise.
    Good luck!

  • Schema name of compiling entity automatically prepended - DATA CORRUPTION

    - Synopsis -
Forms 6i is prepending the schema name of the user who compiled the form when the schema name is unspecified. When a schema name is unspecified, it should use existance and synonym rules associated with the runtime user. Forms new mode of operation is incorrect and may have caused DATA CORRUPTION on our system.
    - Main Text -
When creating a .fmx under Dev 6i, the user name of the user who compiled the form gets automatically prepended to database functions, procedures, and tables, which are called in a form function or procedure. But this incorrect implicit user/schema name remains hidden from the Developer.
Forms should not do this, it should, as it used to, allow the database to handle which schema is to be referenced using synonym and existance rules based on the user running the form, not the user who compiled the form.
This is EXTREMELY BAD. I'm a 12 year veteran of Forms, OCP certified, and this has caused potential DATA CORRUPTION in our database. In our database, we have a main and a test schema, both with all of the same schema elements. We found out that there was a problem when data that was being pulled back from a function was being pulled from the other schema, because the FMB was compiled under that other schema's username.
The fact that forms will behave this way is not apparent through the Developer either. The prepended schema name does not show up in the procedure or function call. I had to go in to the .fmx file with a hex editor to determine that forms was doing this "for" me.
If there is some option that tells Forms not to prepend the schema name, please let me know, but I already looked through every entry in Help with the word schema and didn't find anything.
For any whom work at Oracle, this should be fixed immediately and sent out on the next revision of Developer. This has potentially disastrous affects on data. If a fix has already been made please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Rob Erwin

Yes, we're running against Oracle7. Well, at least I know how to fix the problem, now I just have to find time to update the database.
