Firefox 21 is ruining my online experience, it pauses and gets stuck whenever I re-open my computer. It takes 20 minutes to stablize. I want to go back to 20.
Ever since I updated to 21, my laptop gets hung up and I did the dl start from mozilla firefox. I need to go back to 20.
A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Hi I Run Windows 7. Since upgrading to Firefox 4.0 I am unable to "clear history" and get the message "QuickTime failed to initialize". I can delete history when in safe mode with plug-ins disabled. Re-installing quick time fails to resolve the issue. Any ideas or suggestions?

I installed this new Firefox 4 on my Windows 7 64-bit OS and now it doesn't even open.
This web browser has turned out to be the worst thing I've ever had to deal with on my computer. I upgraded my Firefox 3.6.2 which was amazing and my go-to web browser. Now after many re-installs I still can't get this new thing to open. I'm going to lose it soon. Good thing I saved my bookmarks before. When I click the .exe file, it shows in my task manager that it is running but no windows appear. I've restarted my machine and tried everything possible to get it to work. NOTHING.

Firefox versions after 3.6 no longer run on the PPC processor. You can only update to the latest 3.6 release (3.6.23 at the moment)

Standard uninstall instructions are unavailable. add and remove programming is also unavailable. It isn't shown in add-ons either.

If you had installed infoaxe, uninstalling it from your browser is extremely easy. For firefox, Go to Tools->Addons->Infoaxe Firefox Toolbar. Now click on uninstall and restart your browser.
You can reset your browser homepage by going to Tools -> Options in Firefox and Tools -> Internet Options in Internet Explorer.

I have four accounts with btes.tv (served by WorldClient). Firefox asked if I wanted to save my password with three of the accounts, but it hasn't asked with the fourth. I have re-done preferences/security/save passwords several times to no avail. I don 't know what else to do.

Firefox includes options of how to handle different content types, in your case the mailto links are probably set to "Use Firefox". For details of how to fix this see [[Firefox keeps opening many tabs or windows]], in particular the section "Change the action for a content type".

I have never been so upset with an application! I swore by Firefox before but now I might just go back to Safari. I'm not willing to ge into the innards of 2 computers to try and fix things. I just want to revert to the last 3 series Firefox I had before downloading Firefox 4.

Marc-AndréSnow Leopard breaks quite a few drivers - my Canon exhibited the same problem.
I eventually found updated drivers on the Canon website. You can try that with the HP, but if the all-in-one is more than a year or so old, don't hold your breath.
You can also try Software Update to see if it will offer new drivers, or failing that go to the Support Downloads site and search for HP updates.
In fact there's a new one for HP at the top of the list just now.
You may not necessarily want the latest one, though - check the specs to see if your model is covered; if not, search for the previous update etc. -
I have a CAC reader that Firefox does not recognize. It is installed correctly as have all the necessary certificates and IE can use the CAC reader seamlessly. I do not need the CAC to log-on to my computer, just to log-on to certain websites (mostly military).
For users that need to change between certificates of their CAC card, I found in Firefox 4.x you have to import the DOD pki files. To do this follow the instructions at the URL below inside Firefox (do all 4). After successfully completing the imports, restart Firefox and when you get to a DOD website like "DISA web-mail" it will ask you to pick the certificate you would like to use. For the email certificate look at the details of each certificate and find the one that has your email address attached to it. This one you much use for all email certificate authentication.

Firefox has become absurdly slow opening webpages. Can take a minute + to load. Please help.
This started over a week ago. I try to link to a webpage (either from a link on another page, a bookmark or an email) and I can end up waiting for over a minute for the page to load. I have checked my PC's Internet speed (excellent), malware and viruses (none), firewall issues (none - in fact, the problem persists even with the firewall completely disabled), I've even upgraded my modem (no change). The problem affects Firefox and also Chrome and IE. It does *not*, however, affect my laptop or notebook. I'm at wits end at this point and any other ideas to fix this would be appreciated.
If it affects multiple browser then it must be caused by other software on your computer.
Try to reset (power on/off) the router.
Try to disable IPv6.

Tool Not Available When Trying to Change My "Online Experience"
I've been trying to change my "Online Experience" with Verizon for a few days. Currently my emal is through Yahoo Verizon and I want to change it to Verizon. I've done all the prep steps but when I got to my profile and choose to "Change my online experience" I got through the questions but it gets to the point where it's supposed to implement the change and I get an error message that that "The tool is unavailable".
Does anyone know how I'm supposed to make this change and actually have it work?
I'm completely frustrated and haven't had the time to call in and talk to a technician and thought I would check here first.

I've searched through my system preferences and Firefox preferences and both helps and cannot figure out how to prevent the computer from automatically going online (using Firefox) when I start it up. I do not want this to happen because the computer will be online when I am not using it; this poses security problems. In addition, this happened after the latest automatic update of Firefox and makes me wonder if someone is invading my privacy. I only want to go online when I open Firefox.
Uncheck Edit > Preferences > Store > Show iTunes in the cloud purchases
The correct way to move iTunes from one computer to another is to copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer (or backup of the old computer) to the new computer. This will make everything in iTunes on the new computer exactly as it was on the old computer. -

There are a lot of benefits to running the latest version of Firefox. You might want to consider running the older version [http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable/localization#legacy36 on a USB Stick with PortableApps]. That way you'll still be able to run the latest version for your day to day activities.
If you still want to roll back to a previous version of Firefox, just take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[Installing a previous version of Firefox]].
