Firefox 23 Beta has crashed 5 times in the last hour since updating, twice with a BSOD failure of the video driver. I can't figure out another way to post this.
FF was running fast and stable until the Beta update tonight. Afterward it crashed repeatedly, sometimes with a total system lockup, other times with an unresponsive system, occasionally with a Video Driver failure leading to a BSOD.
I had to DL 22 release and roll back. I'm now on the release channel, not the beta channel.
System config: Dell Latitude 6410, Win 7 x64, 128 GB SSD, 4GB RAM, Intel video hardware. Everything is up to date.
Trying to get this out before it crashes again then switching to 22.
Java plugin is usually disabled.
Toolbars are ABP, download status bar and Disconnect.
If you are still getting blue screen crashes, make sure you've disabled Firefox's use of hardware graphics acceleration. With that feature off, it would be rare that Firefox would touch any privileged parts of Windows.
You might test in Firefox's Safe Mode. That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)
Any difference?
Oddly, that last crash report shows the Flash plugin still loading, even though you disabled it.
This is some standard guidance that addresses the most common issues with the Flash player. I'm sure you've seen some of it before, but just in case:
(1) Make sure all recorders/downloaders that interact with Flash media are as up-to-date as possible, or disable them.
(2) Disable hardware graphics acceleration in Firefox and in Flash
(A) ''As described above...'' In Firefox, un-check the box here and restart:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > General > "Use hardware acceleration when available"
(B) In Flash, see this support article from Adobe: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues
(3) Disable protected mode (Windows Vista/7/8)
See this support article from Adobe under the heading "Last Resort": [http://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?]

my PowerBook G4 has crashed 4 times in the last week. I got a message that there is a problem with the Mac OS Kernal. Does anyone know what this means?
Kernel panics are usually caused by a hardware problem – frequently RAM, a USB device or a Firewire device. What external devices do you have connected? When trying to troubleshoot problems, disconnect all external devices except your monitor, keyboard and mouse. Do you experience the same problems?
To eliminate RAM being the problem, Look at this link: Testing RAM @ http://guides.macrumors.com/Testing_RAM Then download & use Memtest & Ramber.
Do you have an Apple Hardware Test disc? Running the Apple Hardware Test in Loop Mode is an excellent troubleshooting step for finding intermittent hardware problems. It is especially useful when troubleshooting intermittent kernel panics. If Loop Mode is supported by the version of the Apple Hardware Test you are using, you run the Extended Test in Loop Mode by pressing Control-L before starting the test. Looping On should appear in the right window. Then click the Extended Test button. The test will run continuously until a problem is found. If a problem is found, the test will cease to loop, indicating the problem it found. If the test fails, be sure to write down the exact message associated with the failure. In some cases, RAM problems did not show up until nearly 40 loops, so give it a good run.
May be a solution on one of these links.

Safari has crashed 10 times in the past two days due to a plug in I do not have.
Safari has crashed 10 times in the past 2 days because of a plug in on my laptop called kidsPCTime.so. I have not downloaded this plug in and I can not find it anywhere on my computer. How do I fix it? I looked in the plug ins library and it is nowhere to be found. Why is this happening?
Hi ..
Unfortunately, your Mac has fallen subject to the flashback trojan.
Follow the instructions for etresoft's User Tip here > Checking for and removing the "Flashback" trojan: Apple Support Communities
Download the malware checker at that link.
Once the trojan is removed you can protect your Mac against the flashback trojan by using OpenDNS.
See my User Tip here > OpenDNS is blocking the Flashback Trojan, or what’s being described as one of the single biggest Mac security incidents of all time.: Apple Support Communities -
I bought the photoshop install online and I put it on my laptop. But now I have a new and better computer for photo and video but I can not figure out how to reinstall my photoshop on this new computer. When I bought it, they said I would be able to install it on 2 different computers. PS they are both PC computers.

After latest update 14.0.1 firefox has crashed 3 times in the last 30 minutes.
I recently updated to the latest version of FF and now it will just crash without warning. for example, I was trying to watch stuff on youtube and it crash.
Here are the crash reports for the two Crash IDs you submitted (shown in "More system details")
https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/0e950e4d-fa26-403e-840e-306c82120721 Firefox 14.0.1 Crash Report [@ StrCmpNIA ]

.... The reports both link to this related bug:

It looks like the problem is with BitDefender 2013 which may be incompatible with your installation of Firefox 14.0.1 and/or your installed extensions.
Try this first: [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] .... and it that doesn't help, see if temporarily disabling or uninstalling BitDefender resolves the crashes. If it does then contact BitDefender support. Related BitDefender forum thread:

What is the location bar? Screen shot not a Mac screen shot. Tried "open location" and nothing happens.
Just updated to 10.6.7 on Mac. First time I tried to do this screen, Firefox crashed.
How do I keep this stupid thing up for more than 2 minutes?I would reformat the drive then reinstall Lion:
Install or Reinstall Lion from Scratch
If possible backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive.
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Erase the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer. -
Everytime I open my messages App on my MBP and click on a chat, the entire history clears and the chat moves to the bottom. It does it everyday for every user I click on and I checked my preferences and can't find anything that would cause that. It is really annoying because I have no record of the chat I had.
Hi,
I didn't specifically ask if you had changed Fonts.
I did ask you to check them using the Font Book
Open Font Book find the Font you are using and then use the Validate from the File Menu.
As you implied nothing happens until you click a Chat I presumed you have access to the menu items of Messages.
You are Posting in Mountain Lion. The last version here was version 7.0.1 at the OS X 10.8.2 update.
The Latest version is in Mavericks. It is still called version 8 but did have changes at the OS X 10.9.2 update.
If the app has not been updated properly (it will not update if it in not loose in the Application Folder - it can't be somewhere else or inside a "messaging app" folder for instance within Applications) it will not work.
As I have not deliberately or accidentally done this I am not sure of the symptoms.
I need confirmation as to which version of the App you have.
Do you have a Time Machine Back up ?
What would the issue be if you did have to Reinstall the OS to get Messages back to a working version ?

Not certain, but any one of these could be the cause. A good starting point for troubleshooting is to remove the non-Apple stuff. This is best done by using an uninstaller that is hopefully available from the various developers.
FWIW, Cycling74 and razer often seem to crop up in kernel panic reports.
You may need to do some Googling/visit the developers sites to locate uninstallers.
If, after removal, the panics stop but you need the functionality of whatever these items relate to, re-install one-at-a-time (with the latest version of the software) and test. It'll then be easier to isolate the offender (if the crashes are in fact caused by one of them). -
See question.
You will find that the number of audiobook titles available without DRM is much smaller than the number of titles available with it. eMusic probably has the largest collection of MP3 format audiobooks, which are not wrapped in DRM, but their catalog is a pale shadow of Audible's collection.
The source of your ire is the publishers. They are the ones who insist on DRM, rather than Apple or Audible. (Though there are also policies at those vendors, which make it difficult or impossible for authors who choose to go without DRM (such as Cory Doctorow) to offer their titles without DRM. I suspect that it’s the fault of the publication system, but who knows for sure.)
Personally, I don't care about the DRM. Audible titles play just fine on my iPhone, and that's the only place I play them, so I never notice it. Someday that might change, and then maybe I'll be angry. But that seems low probability. -
My new iPhone 4S has crashed 7 times ie the screen does not come back on when I press the home key. I hold down the home key and on button to reboot and it always comes back. I tried a restore but it has crashed once since. Is this right ? Do I have a faulty phone ? Any suggestions ?
Does the screen come back on if you press the sleep/power button?
Have you tried powering down (hold sleep/power button and swipe red slider) then power back up? Power cycling sometimes will clear problems.
If neither works, and you can get to an Apple store, have the genius bar folks try it out...they are very good about replacement if faulty. -
Has anyone figured out a way to open Photoshop 7 in Leopard?
Photoshop 7 won't open in Leopard according to all the forums. But SOMEBODY must have a workaround besides booting into Tiger or upgrading (and dealing with Adobe's computer-specific registration). Has anyone figured out a way to make this work yet?
By the way, my old Photoshop Elements 3 will open in Leopard, though it's not supposed to either.Whoever told you Elements 3 won't work in Leopard was simply wrong. It does. Elements 2 and Photoshop 7 will not work, Elements 3 and Photoshop CS1 will both work. My understanding is that the code for both the non-working ones was a kludge of the original code built for the Classic Mac OS to get it to run natively in OS X, and, since Leopard no longer supports Classic code in any way neither PS 7 nor Elements 2 will work, ever. Don't know whether that theory about the code is correct or not, but it sounds sorta reasonable. But whether that is the explanation is irrelevant: Elements 2 and PS 7 do not work in Leopard.
Why not do what I'm going to do: get off Adobe's gravy train. I'm going to buy Elements 6 when it comes out (which is about half what it costs to upgrade my CS1 to CS3), and spend some more quality time with the GIMP. No more upgrades of Photoshop for me.

Firefox has crashed numerous times on me tonight, and I keep getting an unresponsive script error (Script: chrome://devany/content/main.js:254) regardless of what website I'm on. It's completely crippled my Firefox, and getting the a large enough window between unresponsive script warnings to get the Troubleshooting Information from Firefox took me a good 20 minutes. It's a very persistent script. I've already re-installed Firefox and restarted my computer, and scanned for viruses/malware. I'm on a Mac, if it makes a difference.

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10_5_8; en-us) AppleWebKit/531.22.7 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Safari/531.22.7yay, I had this same issue, and I too browsed deviantArt and also have got Deviantanywhere add-on installed. : D
I'm so glad that You've found a solution and shared it with us.
I was really getting worried that I'd done something to get malware installed on my 'puter. *Phew* !!
I'm going to disable DeviantAnywhere after I post this and hopefully this will be fixed for me too!
I actually hadn't kept my firefox up to date. but.. *shh...*
I updated it and after I did, it told me that there was a script running that was not responding. : )
yay for FireFox~

Since the Firefox update was sent out this week. I keep having unexpected crashes. There does not seem to be a pattern. It does send you reports. But just this morning it has crashed twice. Yesterday it crashed three times and the day before two. I switched to using Chrome and have not had an issue.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
* https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

Firefox has crashed 20 times in 3 hours. Why?
Every time I open it, it crashes within five minutes. It's crashed 20 times in the time span of a little over 3 hours. I've tried updating my plug-ins, updating Firefox, ran a scan through my computer, and checked to see if the crash happened during safe mode(it did).
My Crash Report ID: bp-c9df9278-90c7-463f-bde9-3413e2130220These crashes on Windows 8 are currently being investigated.<br />
Probably the only solution for now is to downgrade to Firefox 18.0.2
