Firefox causes my router to block google

As of yesterday firefox causes my router to block google. There is no problem with IE8 or chrome on my computer and no other computer on the network has the same problem. Can anyone help? router has no blocking facility enabled and no mac address filtering.

Firefox runs fine here on my 10.6.8 machine, what can occur because a lot of browser today are RAM hogs is that FF's menu will freeze.
If you close all browser windows, or command tab switch, you can then access the ForceQuit menu via the Finder or other program.
Hard restarts are not good for the machine, my suggestion is you run through this list of fixes
Uninstall all add-ons (some can cause a conflict) uninstall FF and reinstall, test FF in another account to see where the problem is located.
Software on Mac's are in three areas, OS X itself, Applications and User(s) accounts
#1 you replace OS X and update so it's clean of anything corrupted or defective
#2 you uninstall/reinstall the offending program + addons,
#3 you then consider it's  User account issue/program support file in that one particular user
Run through this fix it list, it covers everything.
Step by Step to fix your Mac

  • Why is Firefox blocking Google Adsense?

Firefox is blocking Google Adsense, which is undesirable for me. The Addblock add-on is not installed. I have emptied my cache. Java is active. It is not a firewall issue. Ads appear normally in all other browsers. THIS IS A FIREFOX ISSUE.

Could you test in a new Firefox profile. In addition to bypassing current add-ons and custom settings, it should have completely fresh settings databases and a fresh cache folder and no Google cookies.
Close Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager as described in [https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Managing+profiles Managing profiles]. Any time you want to switch profiles, close Firefox and return to this dialog.
    Notice any difference?

  • ArchLinux causes the router to restart

    Hello!
I don't know what exactly, but something causes the router to disconnects and restarts. And dhcpcd fails after reboot.
I'm having this problem since some iso releases. Like 5 or 6 months ago.
Well, I download the ISO, I dd it to a memory stick, and boot a PC with it. Everything goes fine, I do whatever I want. But after a while the router loses Internet connection and it does not accept any device to connect. Then, I reboot the PC, and dhcpcd@<whatever>fails. It doesn't matter if it's a wireless or wired connection. To get a connection, I restart the router (turn it off and on). But the router continuously restarts itself if I continue using the ArchLinux machines.
(To get the router working again, I disconnect any ArchLinux running machine and restart the router)
Because of that I thought it was the router, but I tried with other router (at another place) with my laptop, and I got the same result. The router restarts and everything. So I thought It was my laptop. I tried with another computer (a desktop) and I got the same result. Then I said "Maybe it's the memory stick", so I tried with other one... the same result. To be sure of that, I used other distro (LMDE) on those PC's with the same memory stick and different routers. Everything worked fine.
I've searched this issue on the forum and the Bug Tracker, but I don't find this exact problem. Or maybe I didn't get it because of my English. If this post is duplicated, or it's submitted on the bug tracker, I apologize and will be thankful for someone to redirects me. If is not, here are the PCs' specs and command outputs: (all using 2014.02.01 installation media)
If other command output (or output filtering) is necesary, please let me know.

    Hi!
Well, I turned off the WiFi physical switch, turned on the computer and then I did:
    sudo systemctl disable NetworkManager
    sudo systemctl disable dhcpcd
    sudo systemctl disable netctl
I'm not sure if that's enough.
Then I rebooted the machine, connected the ethernet cable, and:
    [me@there ~]$ sudo dhcpcd
    dhcpcd[520]: version 6.1.0 starting
dhcpcd[520]: no interfaces have a carrier
dhcpcd[520]: forced to background, child pid 639
I ping Google, and I could reach it, but I could not connect some other device. Then:
    [me@there ~]$ sudo dhcpcd -x
    dhcpcd[742]: sending signal 15 to pid 639
dhcpcd[742]: waiting por pid 693 to exit
    Again:
    [me@there ~]$ sudo dhcpcd
    dhcpcd[746]: version 6.1.0 starting
    dhcpcd[746]: wlp3s0: up_interface: Operation not possible due to RF-kill
    dhcpcd[746]: enp2s0: rebinding lease of 192.168.1.70
    dhcpcd[746]: wlp3s0: waiting for a carrier
dhcpcd[746]: no interfaces have a carrier
    dhcpcd[746]: enp2s0: soliciting a DHCP lease
    dhcpcd[746]: timed out
dhcpcd[746]: forced to background, child pid 868
And, just to be sure, ping returned "unknown host".
After a while, the router restarted.
I also looked for a newer firmware for my router, but I couldn't find one, nor the manufacturer home page.
And I have thought like that, fukawi2, ArchLinux is so Up-To-Date, other things may fail.
I can request a new router to my ISP, but I may encounter this issue again when I use my laptop somewhere else.

  • Is this the start... Verizon is blocking Google Wallet which is very nice, and you probably don't know they are creating their own Verizon Wallet

I have been with this company for over 10 years and frankly I always overlooked one thing wasn't to keen on and that was some of the services Verizon offered on their website which many of the account related services they have as apps so you can view from your phone are good and useful.  I have been an Android user since the first Moto Droid to the Incredible and Inc2, then I though I was gonna go iphone, until I was able to use one for a month.  Don't get me wrong it wasn't bad it was my brothers 4G on another network when he upgraded to the 4GS.  Anyway no real problems other than Android just has more to offer so I went with the Nexus Galaxy and stayed with Verizon, after I was flipping a coin to go to Sprint.  Anyway the reason I am leaving Verizon is due to their attempt to create apps to try to compete with googles apps and Verizon charges...  you can find most for free from the droid market(which is the Play store now) such as Navigation.  The free Google Nav is awesome, I also have google voice(free)  so I get text messages emailed to me and vmails emailed and texted to me as well as being able to listen straight from phone by pushing play by the missed call.  Verizon continutes to create these apps that also cost money and aren't near as good.  I actually feel bad for the people who think the VZ nav is in fact the google nav.  Now they are blocking a new service of Google's called Google Wallet.  It's free and really cool, but Verizon blocks you from installing it or using it and Verizon is spending over a 100,000,000 dollars to create their own Wallet APP  that i'm sure won't be free.  So it's not that one app as to why I am leaving, its a number of things that as an experienced user and add the fact that  I work in the tech industry, in sales that I Verizon taking advantage of customers, and I don't work that way or like it.   Okay you go buy a verizon phone, it will have the VZ Nav right there on the home screen, however there will be no google Nav, and for newbies they usually think this is the navigation everyone talks about.  You have to go download the Google Maps which is a turn by turn navigation always up to date and is awesome.  I watch my kid driving down the road at all times for free.   My point is now that their blocking Google Wallet because they are creating there own wallet, which won't be as good, and probably cost money to even spend money meaning they will charge for it.  What is the next brilliant thing that Google comes out with  that you can intergrate into your Google services.    So what is the point of trying to compete with Google on apps, I mean the Verizon wallet?  Why it makes no sense.  Why block an app thus not giving you the luxery.  They have their reasons of course such as security, and other reasons that it could cause problems but, hey if you dare to spend the outrageous amount of money to activate your hostspot to connect your computer wirelessly in a park.  75% of the people who do this are going to be on an unsecured network that anyone can connect to even with security turned on.  So they say there worried about security on the wallet app, because someone may cold get access to your small amount that most people keep on the google wallet but the wireless hotspot is putting much more that money out there. it's putting personal things and files on your computer out there.  I just dont' get why they can't provide their songs and ring tones and apps that allow you to see you data usage and leave the apps for the Google market.  For you who don't know please download google maps and you will have an awesome navivation.  Also google talk, voice, chat, and there apps on the google market for free such as a punch clock for time.  I saw one for over $14 on the verison app store.  So stick to what you are good at ,and don't block apps that other companies aren't blocking including at&T now, and they were in on the $100,000,000 to create this app along with Tmoblie and Verizon.  I use an android because of the capapbilites that google gives you, and the apps that they offer for free or no money.  Go look in the Verizon apps and see how much you will pay.  Most that cost money come preinstalled on your phone so all you have to do is use it and you start getting charged.  This is a 3 year decision making.  I don't like that people can easily get charged for services without even knowing just because the app was installed and they used it once.  Just stay with what your good at and let the android users rightly use the google apps.  After all Google Saved your business if you really want to think about it.  If you didn't have the android OS, how many sales would you be getting?  Where would your company be.  This app was developed by Google which means it ties into everything else such as making online payments with the google card.  Blocking APPS developed by the developer of the Operating System that single handedly changed  the game, and has Made  you as a company far better off than you would have ever been had they not developed android.  Not a good Idea.  Bite the hand that feeds you.

I have been with this company for over 10 years and frankly I always overlooked one thing wasn't to keen on and that was some of the services Verizon offered on their website which many of the • In FX 8 (WinXP and Linux) I'm not able to change a route of the Google Maps routeplanner via drag&drop, the markers of start and destination don't appear and therefore cannot be moved, either.

Usually (IE, Firefox 7 and below) if you go along the blue line of a route planned by Google Maps, a small circle appears which can be dragged and dropped to other roads so that the routeplanner changes the route. This is impossible with Fx 8, the circle doesn't appear and when trying to drag&drop I only move the map. The same applies to the markers which mark the start and destination of the route, they are not visible and cannot be moved. Disabling Adblock and Firegestures didn't solve the problem.
When the page is loading for a moment you can see the symbol for an image which is not yet loaded both where the markers should be and if you go along the line with the mouse. As soon as the page is completely loaded you don't see this anymore.

  • Since installing Firefox 29, my router constantly reboots on its own

Since installing Firefox 29, my router constantly reboots on its own. Is anyone else having this problem? And could it indeed be caused by Firefox?

Do you have any security software that may undo changes and restore a previous setup?

  • Block google search logging in safari

Does anyone know how to block google from logging my search history while using safari?
I know that its very easy to do so if using firefox, but i prefer safari and would like to continue using it while at the same time not being tracked by google.
I wouldnt usually care, but I advertise with google adwords and this makes me slightly useasy that they know my searches, plus my name, address and phone number.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello, you can make a link in your toolbar with scroogle :
    http://www.scroogle.org/cgi-bin/scraper.htm
It's the easiest solution, there's no plugin for Safari like the one for Firefox.

  • I'm getting a message saying that Firefox cannot establish a connection to google.

Something happened to Firefox yesterday - and now all I can get is a message saying that Firefox cannot establish a connection to google.
I searched for help via IE and I tried all the fixes suggested. I even restored my computer to an earlier state- that didn't change anything; set network settings to No Proxy; then I uninstalled Firefox, deleted all the program files, and then reinstalled - but nothing seems to work.
I really don't want to have to use IE, and I'm not technical enough to really know what I'm doing at this point. I'm afraid I might have lost all my bookmarks, screwed something(s) up on my computer etc.
This is SOOOOOOOOOO irritating and frustrating - can someone help me please.

Sorry to hear about your bookmarks. When you uninstalled Firefox, did you tell it to remove your personal data? That unfortunately would be irreversible, so hopefully you didn't do that.
You mentioned deleting some folders. Your bookmarks and other Firefox settings data normally are stored in a hidden folder under C:\Users\''username''\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox. I'm not sure whether you dug down and deleted folders under there. If so, please check the Windows Recycle bin and try to restore the Mozilla\Firefox folder to a safe location (e.g., Documents).
Did you use Firefox's Reset feature at any point? That would have moved your old settings folder to your desktop, inside a folder named Old Firefox Data. Hold on to that if you have it.
Regarding Google, I wonder whether your computer has contracted any malware infections that might be modifying your access. You could try the tools in our support article [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]]. Those are free and take a considerable amount of time to run. If they seem to finish quickly and require a payment for cleaning, you may have a serious infection. In that case, try the specialized malware cleanup forums listed in the article.

  • Does firefox 4 have the 'feeling lucky' google search feature when you type phrases into the URL bar? ATM it goes to google where i then have to click on website.

if i type simply phrases in to the URL bar (i,e bbc) it use to take me directly to www.bbc.co.uk. but now in firefox 4, it seems to go to google.co.uk instead displaying all the searched items. I then have to click on the link i want.
Is there any way of enabling this?

The change between Firefox 3.6.* and Firefox 4 is how location bar search works. In Firefox 3.6 it uses Google "Browse by name" search. With the browse by name search, it performs a Google search and if there is a clear match it will take you to the site, otherwise it shows the Google search result. With Firefox 4 it just performs a Google search if you type something which is not recognised as a URL.
To get the Firefox 3.6 behaviour on Firefox 4 you need to change a hidden preference.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''keyword.URL''', double-click on it and change its value to the link shown below
    [http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q= http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=]
If you prefer, you can also do this by installing the Browse by Name extension - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/browse-by-name

  • I live in thailand. my firefox homepage comes up with a google mark and is in thai language. how do i remove the google link and get english language?

I live in thailand. I just downloaded firefox 3.6.12. I have uninstalled google chrome. My firefox homepage comes up with a google mark and is in thai language. How do i remove the google link and get english language?

You can set the Interface Language via the Search settings link on the http://www.google.com/ncr site. That should work for the Google Firefox page as well.<br />
That setting is stored in a Google PREF cookie that you need to keep (allow).

  • Firefox 5 doesn't support the Google toolbar? That's what Google says. I miss my Google toolbar. Will this be fixed going forwards? Thanks -

I'm just hoping the Google toolbar will eventually be capable of being installed on Firefox 5.

That is up to Google to fix.
The Google Toolbar '''7.1.20110512W''' version works in Firefox 5.0 by using the Compatibility Reporter extension, I tried it myself due to the large number of postings about GTB problems. <br />

  • Firefox has suddenly started to block my gmail account. Why?

I have been using my gmail account with no problem. Then suddenly I am unable to access gmail. A yellow warning denies access. It says the Google Connection is Untrusted. I have copied and pasted the warning below:
You have asked Firefox to connect
securely to mail.google.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.
Normally, when you try to connect securely,
sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are
going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.
    What Should I Do?
    If you usually connect to
this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is
trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.
    OK. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

Did you activate Restrictions in Settings > General > Restrictions > Websites?
