Firefox freezes due to a script running. how can I stop it or fix it

I keep having a script run when I am playing Face Book games Especially Battle Pirates and it freezes everything. What can i do to stop it? Or fix it so it dosen't freeze my game?
This script runs over and over while I am playing Battle Pirates. Every time it runs it freezes the darn game and I have to click and click on the screen before a box pops up with a long string and asks if I want to stop the string. This is what it says:
"A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete."
" Script:http://static.ak.fbcdn.net/rsrc.php/...tS5XVSwP/ks:42 "
What is this and dose it need to run or is it a hacker messing with me and my FF browser ?
When I'm in the middle of a battle screen and it freezes it messes me up. If I am in full screen when it freezes it throws me to another open Browser tab or out of full screen if i don't have another open.
What is this? Something to do with FaceBook? A Hacker ? A BP game glitch. please help. This is driving me crazy. Imagine being in the middle of the best part of a BP battle and freeze.... then click click click i go and zoom to another open window away from the battle so i no longer have a view of the fight let alone control it or boom to non full screen and 1/2 the screen is obscured.
It just happened again while I was typing this request for help. I have a window open with BP also and it took me there. HELP

Hi knighterrant56,
Have you looked at the Knowledge Base article [[Problems using Facebook in Firefox]]? There is a lot of good troubleshooting information in there. Please be sure to try all of the suggested steps. Each one is valuable and may be the answer to your issue.
Hopefully this helps!

  • When I have all Firefox windows minimized, and am using another program or am idle, the Firefox windows keeping randomly popping up. How can I stop this behaviour?

    I'm running Windows 7 and Firefox 6.0.2. When I have all Firefox windows minimized and am working in another program, the Firefox windows just randomly open in front of my other app and interrupt me. I have to minimize them again. It is extremely distracting and annoying, and often interrupts in the middle of something important. How can I stop Firefox from doing this?

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    *Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • When I try to open an email, two (2) "Firefox Document(s)" try to download. How can I stop this?

    I have Window7 64 bit and use Microsoft Outlook 2010 for email. Every time I open an email, two documents try to download. They are each called Firefox Document with very long "names"(?). An example is {86E67A0-2915-4CDA-8941-96A5C9A3FCF8}.hmtl.
    I have to cancel one and then the other popup windows. Then the same thing happens for the next email I open but the "name" of the file is different. In addition to this being a pain in the butt, I'm now afraid to send any email for fear the receiver will get the same problem. I was thinking of doing a restore, but read that such an action by design does not change email. How can I send you a screen shot?

    If this is not an intentional change by your email website, you might try the following. When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
    Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
    Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
    orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
    On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
    If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • Unresponsive script - repeatedly, how can i stop this?  It is slowing down my computer.

    Can any one help?  My computer is about 4 years old but up until about three months ago it was just fine.  Now every day - sometime several times, I get messages in a loop "unresponsive script, continue or not?"  --- thanks.

    thanks for your reply/suggestion.  I did look at the activity monitor and nothing seems untoward - nothing huge - Firefox and Skype are the largest but not huge percentages....
    any other possible suggestions?  I am having to just shut the computer down more and more often.....

  • The lcd screen of my 15-inch Macbook Pro (mid 2009) is separating from the case. The glue failed due to the heat.  How can I get Apple to fix this factory flaw?

    The heat vented from the back of the laptop caused the glue to fail and now the screen is separating from back of the lcd case near the hinges. I know for a fact that this issue is known by Apple as I have seen the issue reported at least a dozen times.  This laptop was considerably more expensive than any comparable laptop at the time I bought it. I bought it believing that I was buying a quality product from a quality company.   I've owned many laptops and I have never seen anything like this.  My laptop is out of warranty but this is really besides the point.  This is clearly a factory defect that Apple should remedy.  What do I need to do to get Apple to fix this design flaw?

    Ask Apple.
    We're just regular users here, nobody from the company shows up except for the invisible moderator who purges your posts, threads or self. And if any employee is around, the lawyers probably prevent them from identifying themselves.

  • If my network goes out briefly due to a problem at my ISP, FireFox immediatly opens a "diagnose network problems" page. How can I stop this?

    If my network connection goes out briefly due to a problem at my ISP, FireFox immediately opens a "diagnose network problems" page. This is particularly annoying when I don't even have FireFox or any other software open. Ideally, I do NOT want FireFox to even check if my Network is connected. How can I stop this?

    Did you perform the fixes from the "Preferences not saved" article?
    Try to delete or rename/move the prefs.js file and other possible prefs-##.js with a number and user.js files in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Using action script 2 how can i send a variable value to a dynamic textbox on a different keyframe?

    using action script 2 how can i send a variable value to a dynamic textbox on a different keyframe?

    Thanks for your swift response.
    That sounds like a good solution, but the code I have on frame 2 is this
    timer = 0;
    countup = function(){
    timer++;
    countupInterval = setInterval(countup,100);
    If I added the same actionscript to frame 3 which has a dynamic textbox with a variable timer attached wouldn't it just put the timer back to 0? What I want is the last known value that was given when it was in frame 2.
    I am thinking of temple run here, I am trying to caculate the total distance(set in the timer variable) from the previous try.
    Hope this makes sense.

    I'm running Windows XP Version 5.1 SP3.

    Hi,
    That is the disk cache of Firefox, where contents of loaded pages are kept for faster retrieval and it also helps to conserve bandwidth. To disable this: '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Options''' > '''Advanced''' > '''Network''', check (tick) '''Override automatic cache management ''' and put the value at zero.

  • How can I STOP Firefox from being a glutton with my virtual memory?

    How can I STOP Firefox from being a glutton with my virtual memory?

    Yes. But, I see from the THOUSANDS of responses here concerning Firefox memory issues that other people have had no more success than I have at trying to STOP Firefox's memory gluttony. The fact that Firefox runs fine (like the good old days) for a while after re-booting and registry cleaning shows that something is going on beyond the trivial/ineffective suggestions offered in the referenced links.
    Having to re-boot several times a day to get Firefox out of the molasses is such a pain, that it's no wonder people are going back to IE, or like me, reluctantly relying more and more on Google Chrome.
