Firefox not rendering fonts [SOLVED]

I'm having this problem for some time, but it never bugged me too much. Yet, I still want to find the cause and fix this issue.
Firefox doesn't show me the correct fonts on some websites - not even on this forum. I'm using infinality patches, if that matters. There's a screenshot below showing the difference between firefox and chromium, with chromium rendering the fonts correctly.
Please advise or give me a hint. Thanks

huh! that was quick from my part: I found the issue - I had to set the presets in the infinality bundle created by bohoomil.

• Preview is not rendering fonts well in PDFs

Hi,
For some reason Preview is not rendering fonts well in PDFs. I have created high quality PDFs using two applications (Illustrator CS5 and Numbers '09) and in both cases the fonts are not rendering correctly in Preview. They generally look much less sharp. I am attaching screenshots below, with the original image first and then the PDF in Preview.
When I look at the same PDFs in Acrobat Pro the fonts look fine, so I am presuming that the issue is with Preview. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on?
Thanks,
Nick

It looks like, at least in the Navigation menu, that your using Palatino font, which isn't a web safe font. So Explorer is probably substituting another font when it finds fonts not installed on the viewers computer.
You may be using the default font in a particular iWeb theme. These aren't necessarily web safe fonts.
For your pages to look better on most computers, change all your fonts to web safe fonts which you can find in the "font inspector window" in iWeb. (there is a "font" button on the bottom edge of the main iWeb window) There, you will find different categories of fonts, you want to use any of the fonts listed under "Web" group of fonts.

• Firefox not rendering webfont in 25.0.1 on some pc

I am using a webfont hosted on my website's server and it shows up perfectly in all other browsers, and in most versions of Firefox 25.0.1 on Mac and PC, except some versions of PC's are not rendering it.
I have had one of the problematic users check their "Allow pages to choose their own fonts..." and it DID NOT fix the problem.
I have added the webfont into a header design built in HYPE. Here is the webfont coding I'm using, and again, it works fine on most PC's, but at least two users are having problems:
URL to test:
Coding used:

<nowiki>
</nowiki>

Did you also make them check the gfx.downloadable_fonts.enabled pref on the about:config page to make sure that downloadable fonts are enabled.
You can also use the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer;Ctrl+Shift+K) to check for errors and use the Fonts tab in the Inspector to check which fonts are used.

• Firefox not displaying fonts and sizes properly

In firefox the fonts are not displaying properly they are either bold or small and bold some text is displayed normally but most is not most is either really small or bold. This is also the case for IE, im on windows 7 running latest versions. However Chrome, Opera and Safari all display correct fonts and sizes it is just firefox and IE that are affected. And yes everything from font size to page size is at default so please dont reply with zoom in and out thanks.

Hey thanks for the reply. Not sure which one of these worked nothing changed until I restarted firefox.
You can try different default fonts.
Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced
[ ] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
You can also try to disable hardware acceleration.
Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
But it is back to how it was thank you very much!

• Slider not rendering font size of text on another page

I am using a slider to control the font size of the text. On one page, I have the slider setup as follows:
<Grid Grid.Row="3" Margin="10,4.5,0.667,0"> <Slider x:Uid="FontSlider" x:Name="FontSlider" Header="Select font size" HorizontalAlignment="Left" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="165" Margin="10,40,0,0" Height="65" Minimum="16" Maximum="32" ValueChanged="FontSizeChanged" LargeChange="8" SmallChange="8" TickFrequency="4" /> <TextBlock x:Uid="SampleText" Margin="207,63,11,169" Height="45" Text="Sample text" FontSize="{Binding ElementName=FontSlider, Mode=OneWay, Path=Value}" VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Center" Width="171" Style="{ThemeResource ListViewItemSubheaderTextBlockStyle}" TextWrapping="Wrap"/> </Grid>
The slider is behaving as expected and the content binded to it in the above textblock is also rendering properly.
However, when I try to bind the slider value to similar textblock on another page as below, the font size of the text does not change.
<TextBlock FontSize="{Binding ElementName=FontSlider, Mode=OneWay, Path=Value}" DataContext="{Binding}" Style="{ThemeResource ListViewItemSubheaderTextBlockStyle}" TextWrapping="WrapWholeWords"/>
I tried this with/without Style binding, but that does not helped either. How can I fix this?

Elements on a page cannot access elements on another page. You can do the binding through a view model. The Slider value will have a two-way binding to a property in the view model. The TextBlock in the other page will bind its FontSize to that view model
property.
It might be easier if you don't use binding on the other page. When the slider value changes (ValueChanged event), save the value to a global variable. In the other page OnNavigatedTo, set the TextBlock FontSize using the global variable.

• Firefox not displaying fonts correctly

I'm trying out iweb and a .mac site for displaying my photographs. However I change the font to what I want in iweb and the page looks ok, but when I view it in Firefox the fonts are bold and thick and quite ugly. Doesn't happen in Safari, but I don't use Safari much, I prefer Firefox.
Is it a Firefox issue or an iweb issue? What can I do to get the style I want on my website?
Any ideas would be great thank you.

I do know that firefox does not do shadowed effects among a few others. I inquired about it a few months ago and they said that they just don't support effect like that currently. They do have a message board, you should ask about it.
For example: Check this site out on both browsers... Quite a difference! http://777developmentgroup.com/Home.html

I am working with a fresh install of FF due to hard drive probelms. I did not have this problem before the HD change. IE will correctly show the page.

• Firefox not rendering italic text

I can't pinpoint specifically when this began, but this is an issue I've only seen after doing a fresh install of Ubuntu 11.04. Firefox isn't rendering text that appears between <i> and <cite> tags (there may be others that would render as italicized text by default, but I haven't checked), but is correctly rendering text between <em> tags. The text is literally just gone but is taking up space in the layout.
Chrome on the same machine isn't having the same problem

It seem that in the latest versions of (k)ubuntu only ttf-dejavu-core is installed by default. If you install ttf-dejavu-extra [ sudo apt-get install ttf-dejavu-extra ] that fixes the problem for me

• Mozilla/Firefox not rendering MyYahoo page after update

I did all the updates this week (10.4.4, Itunes, Quicktime) and also installed iLife 06. Now Mozilla 1.7.12 and Firefox refuse to render MyYahoo page correctly. It is completely unusable with object spread out far to the left and down the page.
Safari, of course, works fine but I've never liked Safari and I like to stay consistent with my Solaris environment at work and on my laptop.
I deleted the mozilla cache (both through Preferences and the finder) to no avail.
Anyone else seeing this?

Jim, trash Mozilla and Firefox, empty the trash, restart your computer,
Go back to there site and re download them.

• Inkscape is not rendering fonts

Hello,
Whether fonts are installed from pacman or manually, Inkscape is refusing to show them. I tried refreshing the caché and nothing.
Is this a general bug, just Arch or just me?

Fonts display for me. There are some text tool problems however. It sometimes takes several clicks into the drawing and reselecting the font tool for text entry to become enabled. Font faces change back to a default face upon changing focus.
Quite a few bugs with fonts have surfaced with this release: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape.

In the PKGBUILD you have to replace "autoreconf" by "autoreconf -fi".
Anyway, thanks for your help and sorry for taking your time.

I've gone through quite alot of the posts on here about firefox alias / antialias fonts etc, but not many that deal with the actual fonts along the toolbar etc.
I was trying to find how to change them but nothing seemed to work. However, after a reboot the next day i was suddenly greeted with this:
I'm sure you'll agree its a totally mammoth font size.
Any ideas how to change this - i have no idea what i've done.
I tried creating a .gtk-2.0 file after this happened - no difference. I also change my /etc/fonts/local.conf - also no difference.
Any ideas?
Cheers!
EDIT: Solved - monitor sizes in xorg.conf were the wrong way around - should be
DisplaySize

Well changing display resolution from system to 96dpi gives me exactly what i'm wanting.

• Tables not rendering correctly in Firefox

I recently switched from Dreamweaver 8 to CS4. I also
recently updated my Firefox to 3.06. I have had this website for
years, and it just started not rendering tables correctly in

Let me say up front, I know the page is antiquated (created

• Some web fonts are not rendered

When I visit some sites that use web fonts, the web fonts are not rendered. It does not render with the wrong font - the text is completely invisible.
On other sites, web fonts work just fine, and I cannot understand why some web fonts work and some don't.
Examples of non-working sites:
http://blog.mailchimp.com/ (headers shown, article text missing)
https://www.sbab.se/ (huge top header missing)
http://onlinepizza.se/ (headers and button texts missing)
Examples of working sites:
http://www.google.com/fonts
http://www.typetester.org/
On the Network -> Fonts tab in the inspector, no downloads are shown on the broken sites. Is there a font cache that I can delete?
I have tried uninstalling firefox, deleting all profiles and installing it again. Nothing changes.

Works fine here on Linux.
