Firefox won't run Javascript while downloading a large file

Ok, I've coded a small site featuring a fairly large flash component, and to facilitate things I've incorperated an HTML 5 element to act as the center of the page while the flash file loads. Unfortunately while this works find in Chrome and IE9, older builds of Flash were very slow and jerky during the loading process, and flash 4 doesn't actually do any scripting until the whole file loads, defeating the point.

Maybe an external download manager can prevent Windows from going into sleep mode.
You can use the [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/220 FlashGot] extension to integrate an external Download Manager in Firefox.

  • Access HttpContent data while downloading a large file

    Hello,
    for downloading large files methods such as ReadAsByteArrayAsync and ReadAsStreamAsync are inefficient because everything is being cached in memory and you can't access either the byte array or the stream until the await call returns (at this point the entire
    file has been downloaded).
    HttpClient client = new HttpClient();
    Task<HttpResponseMessage> responseTask = client.GetAsync(new Uri("http://video.ch9.ms/ch9/f04f/87cd2a8d-cf52-4b80-bd97-b089e6b2f04f/308MicrosoftAnalyticsPlatformSystemM02_high.mp4"));
    HttpResponseMessage response = await responseTask;
    Task<byte[]> contentTask = response.Content.ReadAsByteArrayAsync();
    byte[] content = await contentTask; // when this call returns the entire file has been downloaded and file data is finally accessible
    Is there a more efficient method to download large files and also to be able to access file data while the download is still running?
    Thx
    Steve

    and if you realllly wanna do it. i think you have to do something like this; but you will have to use a stream
    HttpClientHandler handler = new HttpClientHandler();
    HttpClient client = new HttpClient(handler);
    var response = await client.GetAsync("http://video.ch9.ms/ch9/f04f/87cd2a8d-cf52-4b80-bd97-b089e6b2f04f/308MicrosoftAnalyticsPlatformSystemM02_high.mp4", HttpCompletionOption.ResponseHeadersRead);
    var responseStream = await response.Content.ReadAsStreamAsync();
    byte[] buf = new byte[512];
    int bufSize;
    while((bufSize = (await responseStream.ReadAsync(buf, 0, buf.Length))) > 0)

  • I installed Lion OS X and Logic Pro won't run. I downloaded the 9.1.5 update: "An Eligible Logic Pro Version Was Not Found in the Applications Folder.  This Update require Logic Pro Version 9.0 or higher".  I have Logic Pro Version 9.1.1 installed.

    I installed Lion OS X and Logic Pro won't run. I downloaded the 9.1.5 update: "An Eligible Logic Pro Version Was Not Found in the Applications Folder.  This Update require Logic Pro Version 9.0 or higher".  I have Logic Pro Version 9.1.1 installed.
    I even pulled the dmg file into the Logic Studio folder in my applications directory and it still does not recognize it.  What do I do now?

    Niel:  Thanks.
    For others benefit, here is what happened.
    I had installed Logic Studio 9.1 some time ago.......not knowing what all the programs were nor what they did, I created a "Logic Studio" subfolder in my applications folder and put all Logic Studio programs into it so I'd know where they were and could review each at my leisure over time.
    My assumption now is that when the updater looks for the Logic Pro program, it looks only in the applications folder.  It seems lame that it would not also look in the subfolders of the applications folder, but that apparently IS the way it works.  Because my Logic Pro program was located in the "Logic Studio" subfolder, the updater just didn't see it..hence the error message I received when I tried to update.
    Solution:  I moved all the Logic Studio programs out of the subfolder and now they reside in the applications folder. Ran the 9.1.5 updater and it worked like a charm.

  • Firefox won't run BBC iPlayer when using Netbook with XP and recommended Flash Player.

    On my Netbook running XP and a broadband connection, Firefox won't run BBC iPlayer even though it has had the Flash Player upgraded as recommended. The player stalls and won't stream or start a menu for streaming the "live" content from the Radio Station.
    The problem doesn't exist when using Google Chrome as an alternative to Firefox. So this is obviously a Firefox incompatibility problem with Flash Player

    That's what mine said too when I went direct to their checker.
    But I use the Speed Test app and that shows a different IP address, one which links to Orange in the UK.
    At the moment it's giving me 31.81.44.53, but that Ip2location site gives me 50.19.92.191. Google tells me I am on 50.16.198.92.
    I am confused and frustrated.
    I did several full restores yesterday, several times when the phone restarted it gave US as the defualt locaiton at startup, but this morning when I just did a settings wipe, it gave me the UK, and I thought that had fixed it.  I didn't.
    Very odd.
    Gosh I thought I solved it then, one of the sites told me my app Onavo was creating a proxy. Deleting the app didn't help - may have to delete the profile which may be buried elsewhere on the phone. Oh, it's in the General tab under profiles - if you have a profile at all.
    Cannot confirm if this works yet as I only have 2G at home but if you have Onavo, I think it's creating a proxy server connection (directing you to the USA). Delete the app, delete the profile and please let me know if it works for you!
    Can't be more than 99% certain, but removing my Onavo profile has now given me a UK IP. Should work!

  • Firefox won't run why not?

    Today is 9/8/10 this morning I used Firefox and it worked fine but later this evening no matter what I try Firefox won't run. I have yet to try deleting Firefox and re-installing it I would like to avoid this so I dont loose my history or my favorites

    A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
    Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

    Firstly, Thanks for Your quick Response, Thomas.
    Even though what ever may be the file name I am passing either info.xml or Info.xls , In error info.xls is coming.
    Kindly provide me an alternative on this  XML doesn't seem like it would match the 'application/vnd.ms-excel'.
    what is the supported format.?
    Similarly, It is not considering the UTF-8 / UTF-16 for xml.........same result is appearing in the output.

  • An error occurred while downloading a larger version of this photo for editing. Please try again later.

    I've moved to photos from iphoto and for a while all was good. And quite exciting. My entire 15k photos have migrated and are available on all my devices.
    Suddenly, I get this warning when I select or try to edit a photo: Cant Download Photo: An error occurred while downloading a larger version of this photo for editing. Please try again later.
    There is an exclamation  mark and a warning triangle on the picture. I am only able to test on my ibook as my Imac is out of action.
    If I log in to icloud in Safari, I can down load the full sized image no problem.  Any one got any ideas?

    Well stone me, it's started working.  Nothing changed on my side.....  go figure.

  • When downloading a large file, like a movie Internet Explorer automatically provides one with the choice of where to save it - e.g. "C" drive, but Firefox doesn't. How can it be done?

    When downloading a large file, like a movie, Internet Explorer automatically opens a download window offering the choice to "Open" or "Save"the file. This provides one with the choice of where to save it - e.g. "C" drive, in the "My Documents" or "Desktop" folders but Firefox's download window doesn't. This has always frustrated me because I would rather use Firefox exclusively to access the Internet, but when it comes to saving files downloaded off the Internet, sadly, I have to revert to IE!

    If you click on Firefox from the upper-left, then Options, a new window should appear. On that window, click on the general tab. In the middle of the window, you'll see options regarding your downloads, one of which says, "Always ask me where to save files." Click on the bubble for this options, then click Ok. From then on, you should always be prompted on where you want your files saved.

  • Download several large files - get CONTROL_FLUSH_ERROR

    Dear all,
    I want to download several large files from the application server to frontend with function module GUI_DOWNLOAD. I use a loop over the several filenames and download the files with following code:
      DATA: l_append        TYPE as4flag,
                 l_count         TYPE i,
                 l_max           type i    value 50000,
                 ls_ziel         TYPE string,
                 ls_download_txt LIKE LINE OF gt_download_txt,
                 lt_download_tmp LIKE gt_download_txt.
      CONCATENATE p_front gs_sel_table-selname '.' 'txt' INTO ls_ziel.
      IF NOT gt_download_txt[] IS INITIAL.
        LOOP AT gt_download_txt INTO ls_download_txt.
          APPEND ls_download_txt TO lt_download_tmp.
          IF l_count = l_max.
    CALL of FUNCTION MODUL GUI_DOWNLOAD
            REFRESH lt_download_tmp[].
            CLEAR l_count.
            l_append = 'X'.
          ENDIF.
          l_count = l_count + 1.
        ENDLOOP.
    If I only download one large file, there is no problem. But when I want to download more then one file the function module returns the error CONTROL_FLUSH_ERROR.
    I can not say at which file the error occurs (2nd, 3rd, ...) I think it depends on the file size. Several smaller files are no problem. At two large files I get the error.
    Does anyone has an idea?
    Kind regards,
    Sven

    Please check this thead perhaps it may help.
