Fireworks CS5 & CS5.1 Saves Incomplete File. Why? Anyone have a solution?
A couple weeks ago, using fireworks cs5.1, I opened a file I'd been working on the day prior to find that a good majority of pages were completely gone without a trace. I was unable to figure out the issue quickly enough, so I rolled back to fireworks cs5, redid the work I lost, and it has been working (saving/opening complete files) without issue… until today. Same problem. I save a file without issue (no errors, no warnings come up), quit fireworks, launch fireworks, open file, and a bunch of pages and even some random layers from the pages that remain are missing. What in the world could be causing this?

Same thing just happened to me, today. Although I did get an error message when I tried to save. This happens every once in a while for me with FW. But, I had successfully saved a few minutes earlier, so I just quit and started up FW again, expecting I would only have a few minutes of re-work to do.
More than half the objects from layers are missing, throughout the file, including portions of document symbols, buttons, etc. A complete disaster, many, many hours of work to re-do. Luckily I had started saving the file under a new file name a week earlier, so I have SOME content to start from.
I called Adobe Support. They said it is a known issue, and they are working on it. So, nothing we can do at this point.
From now on I'm going to save under a new file name once in a while, to avoid having this happen again.

Under Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and Boot Camp, my 27 inch Apple LED Cinema Display checks out as a Generic PnP Monitor and is shown as NOT HDCP compliant. After converting your file a box will appear on top of the window showing 'Download' option.
When click on that your file will be downloaded and it will show the notification at the bottom.
Click on arrow -> 'Show In Folder'.
It will direct you to the location where your file has saved.

I opened a pdf file that was attached to an email message I received and now it will not close when I press "Done" as files usually do. Does anyone have a solution to suggest please? Thanks.
Try double clicking your home button then force close the stuck PDF by swiping upward. Once you've done that just click the home button again to exit.

I have been importing cr2 raw files to my iPad using ios 5 but importing cr2 raw files won't work on ios 6. Sees files in camera but when import stops it fails with an exclamation mark in red circle. Anyone have a solution?
Don't know if you care anymore or it applies, but I was able to get things working but it took drastic measures.
I had to do a full system reset and update by doing the following:
- Make note of all your settings in your system and apps especially accounts and forget about in app data that's only on your iPad and not in a cloud service because it will be gone after this
- Connect iPad to Mac and startup iTunes
- Hold down Home and Power buttons simultaneously for about 8 sec until the screen turns black
- Release the Power button but continue holding the Home button until there's a popup on your screen which indicates it's in recovery mode
- Follow the instructions to recover your iPad but recover it to factory state, not recover from a backup
- Reinstall all your apps and content
- Reconnect to all your services on your system and apps
I could not restore from a backup since it brought back my bad data too. It also didn't restore my music and no matter what I tried it wouldn't put my music onto my iPad. Had to start clean.
It appears over time that the system gets dirty and there's lots of bad data that can't get resolved. This is especially true if some of your apps have crashed a bunch. -
Since I have connected my iPad with the MacBook through ICloud I have problems in Preview of opening PDF- and JPG-files. Does anyone have a solution for this?
I'm not sure I understand the connection between iCloud and this problem. Is it simply a problem of coincidental timing (ie, the problem happened after you set up iCloud)? If so, there's almost certainly no connection between these two events.
Where are you getting the files you're trying to open, and what specifically happens when you try to open them? -

We recently (yesterday) upgraded our Adobe apps to CC versions. InDesign, Photoshop and Bridge all run perfectly. Illustrator crashes at startup. Tried launching it from Administrator account and it crashes. I have disabled fonts except the bare minimum, no success. If it would launch, then I might be able to narrow it down to an incompatible print driver, but it has to actually be running first. We use no third party plugins with it, so I doubt that is the issue.

You don't say what your version of Windows you have. Assuming XP, go to Start | Run, type DXDIAG and click OK. Click the Sound tab and run the tests to eliminate a hardware problem first of all. If you don't hear anything, check your cables first of all. Also make sure "Mute" isn't checkmarked in your sound setup. You'll find that in Windows Control Panel.
Which browser do you use? If you have Firefox 4, sign up to the HTML5 trial @ http://www.youtube.com/html5
HTML5 is the latest video standard and doesn't require Flash player. Google is in the process of converting all its files to work with the new format. It may solve you problem. If you don't have Firefox 4, you can get it from here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/
IE8 doesn't support HTML5.
To clean out your temp files, go to Start | Run, type: CLEANMGR and click OK. Click OK again to start the utility. Tick all the boxes except "Compress old files" because the latter takes too long, and then click OK. You can run this utility any time you wish by the way.
The above steps will hopefully fix your problem. If not, post here again please. -

iPhoto frustrating error..The volume for "Df23.JPG" cannot be found. It prompts for all photos with this issue rather than offering an option to ignore. I can find the images in spotlight but not in Find Photo. Does anyone have a solution?
Unless you have the source files that were on the TC or Windows machine you will have to start over with a new library as follows:
Start over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
1. Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
2. Open the library package like this.

3. Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
4. Drag the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.

This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects. Your original library will remain intact for further attempts at fixes is so desired.

When I did the upgrade it resulted in me having to do a factory reset because it was pausing for long periods of time. It went through the backup and all other steps but now all of my ringtones are gone from iTunes, thus the phone. I tried to redownload one I had purchased and it made me purchase it again (I did this as a test), and it said I had purchased it before but still required me to purchase again.
Anyone have a solution/thoughts/help?Command + Z undoes the last action you did, did you just move those files into that folder?
Use Spotlight to search for the files, or look for them in their original location(s).

Hi, I was importing pictures into iPhoto from my sd card and suddenly iPhoto quit. Now it just won't open. When I click on the iphoto icon in the dock, nothing happens! Does anyone have a solution to this problem please?
As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?
If it does then your current library has been damaged and should be repaired: apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start
with Option #4 and then #1 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

The Twain.Plugin conflicted with bad scanner drivers made by scanner manufacturers and caused too many problems so it is not installed by default. Its in the goodies folder.
But I have to ask. Why tie up a $1000 application to use a $100 scanner? Use the scanner as a stand alone with the software that came with the scanner or use VueScan that way you can keep working while you are scanning. BTW you know that you are using the scanner software when you scan through photoshop right. Photoshop has no scanning capabilities built in. -

That can indicate a too-full hard drive. Highlight your hard drive's icon and then do "Get Info..." from the Finder's "File" menu. That will look something like this:
