Fixed Assets GL Accounts

Hi,
We have uploaded the fixed assets and after uplaoding the same ran the Asset Balances Report to veiw the details of the acquisition costs and accumulated depreciation in respect of the uploaded assets. The Report is running fine, however, when we view the GL Accounts, using the T Code FAGLL03, the account does not show any balance and the message appears "No items selected". Also when we run the GL Balances Report using the T Code FAGLB03, the message appears "No data found for fiscal year -
". Could any one advise as to why this is happening and what could be the remedy for this ?
Thanks in adavance

Hi
Also Follow the below steps to complete your legacy data upload for asset accounting.
When the asset is uplaoded from legacy only the asset account gets updated and not the GL.
To update the GL you have to go to T.code-OAMK reset your Asset recon accounts and take the balace in total for each GL and do posting maually via T.code-OASV.
After completion of posting you have to again reset the recon accounts via OAMK.
Hope this helps
Good Luck

  • Fixed Assets

    Hi experts,
I did a acquisition with vendor through fixed assets add-on but I cannot see the particular invoice when I run the Purchase Analysis report(by Purchase Invoice)? So the report is inaccurate.
Why the fixed assets add-on is not linked with SAP standard modules? or I missed out some important settings?
    Please advice.
    Thank you.

The addon will create a journal but not an AP Invoice to the vendor.
If you want to see an invoice, create a service invoice to the vendor where the GL account is your defined Fixed Assets clearing account, then do your acquisition without vendor to the clearing account.

  • FAGL_FC_TRANS for Fixed Assets

    SAP experts,
We are doing FC Valuation and translation for a  foreign subsidiaries to report US GAAP . ( FAGL_FC_VAL for FC valuation followed by FAGL_FC_TRANS for Translating the group currency with spot/avg  raye for BS and PL respectively). Confiured  BS adjustment account  for translation and the translation difference posted at Month end ( BS adjustment acccount) at month end and reverse it on 1st day of next period. No update on individual accounts.
The  FASB  docs explains that  FASB  amount is to strip off the EX rate influence on the BS numbers of Foreign subsidiaries. ( Group currency amount  of Foreign Subsidiary in SAP)
Gone thru SDN and came to know the treatment to be given to  Fixed assets. Looks like it  need not be valuated  as it sits on Balance sheet long time.  It is not clear . In simple terms do we have to  include Fixed assets and accumilated depreciation in FAGL_FC_TRANS or not?
Answer is yes  for Translation the what rate . How do I derive the correct historical rate as the assets are carried over a long period when we do not update the assets Group currency amount.
Do we do the  translation  for all P&L accounts also?
    Appreciate early replies.
    Regards

    Please see my responses below.
    1. For all BS accounts using Spot rate - yes, the rate on the last day of the month.
    2. For Fixed assets account different rate - same rate applied to all balance sheet accounts
    3. For PL balances separately after ticking the P&L accounts - yes, but this is at the average rate for the month
    4. Do we have to check (tick mark) the u2018valuate period balance only u2018 on the screen for PL? YES
Is the fixed assets GL accounts are to be treated in a different way unlike other BS accounts? - I don't see any reason why they should be handled differently.
The Fixed assets are to be re measured with different ex rate ie Historical rate? - No.  It is the equity that you want to keep at historical rate.
How do I get historical rate? - The historical rate is on the individual postings on the account.  You don't need to get the historical rate from anywhere, as you just leave the historical rate on equity account postings, by excluding these accounts from the selection screen of your Balance Sheet translation variant.
Make sure that for BS translation, you also reverse the translation program entries on the first day of next month.  You don't need to do this for PL translation, as you are translating period balance only.
What steps to be followed to complete the FASB52 and how to reconcile with manual. - All of the above conform with FAS 52 rule.  What do you have in your manual record?  I would eliminate the need for any reconciliation once you are in SAP.  A spot check in your testing cycles should do!

  • How to define Approval Hirearchy for Fixed Assets?

    Hello All,
Couls someone please tell me How to define Approval Hirearchy for Fixed Assets which should be different as compared to normal item purchase.Reply me ASAP

    Hi,
The AP invoice approval used AME rules for finding the approver. You can base you AME rules on virutally anything.
In this particular case, you can base your AME rules on one of the followings:
    1. If any of the Distribution Accounts contain Fixed Assets natural account
    2. You can define a separate document category which should be used with invoices for FA Purchase and use the category in AME rules to find approver
    3. You can have a DFF at the Invoice Header level to indicate that this is a fixed asset purchase invoice and have this DFF to be used in AME rules.

  • Posting of accounting entry related to Fixed assets

    Dear All,
I have an issue as below:
We have implemented ECC 5.00 in oct,06. As part of implementation, asset management also has been implemented.
We have uploaded the asset values properly. At the same time we have posted an accouting entry through OASV  to update the GL account balance.
It was observed that Fixed account and accumlated depreciation account has been posted with higher amount.
Value of the assets as per register  100,000
    Less Accumulated dep.,                   10,000
Net value as per asset register          90,000
At the same time GL account balance has been posted as below
    GL Account(cost of asset)  :150,000
    Less accumulated dep a/c     60,000
Net value as per B/s              90,000
When we compare asset register and GL balance, we could not find any difference as both are showing 90,000 only.
But when we compare cost of asset account(as per b/s) with value of the asset as per asset register we can found difference amount of 50,000.(150000-100000)
Same situation for Accumulated depreciation also. 50,000 has been posted excessivly.(60000-10000)
Now can some one tell me how to adjust the difference between asset register and b/s.
Is there any way we can get the individual balance sheet accounts to mirror the fixed asset register.
Can i post any adjustment entry through OASV as below
    Accumulated dep account dr 50,000
    cost of asset a/c                  50,000
Is it suggestble to post an account entry in 2006 as above.
Also let me know is there any side effects?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Prasad

You can post this entry. This makes your recon perfect. However, it may not be advisable to post in 2006. Please find out from your finance users and try to post in the beginning of 2008, since 2007 must also be closed by now

  • Accounting principle gap for fix asset

    Dear all,
Our company has two accounting principle, for certain fix asset, local principle require it post to fix asset, depreciation will  be posted to expense account and allocate to production order via cost center expense allocation in the month end. for group principle, it will be posted to A&D expense, not fix asset. this means that inventory cost and COGS are different.
We would like to generate two sets report for local goverment and group. does anyone has experience of this requirement? really appreciate if you share with me.
    Rgds,
    Ben

    Hi,
For this kind of situation. you have different methods
    1. Account solution
    2. Ledger solution
    3. Co Code solution
If you are using ECC5 or ECC6, you can have parallel ledgers (leading and non leading). If not you need to use Account solution that is you need to have diff depreciation areas and post accordingly.

  • Inflation Accounting on Fixed Assets

    Hi ,
Could anyone advice how to configure for Inflation Accounting on Fixed Assets wherein Accumulated Depreciation needs to get Revalued.
Is there any Notes to be applied in this regard.
    regards,
    M Suresh Kumar

You can use as basis SAP Note 725957 - Inflation adjustment of fixed assets in Turkey
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/725957
The compleet set-up is in there, perhaps there is a version for your own country
    Me setup is:
    03 Local books               (create postings)
13 Local books inflation   (create postings)
    14 = 03 + 13                  (for reporting)

  • Fixed Asset: Current Year Depreciation

    Dear Experts,
Previously, fixed assets was managed manually in an excel sheet and depreciation was calculated manually in the excel sheet.
My client wants to start using the FA Addon in March. I managed to import all the fixed asset master data with its Cost, Acc. Depn and NBV. They all tally with the GL balances as at 31.12.2010 which is the last day of the accounting year.
However, I have problem with the current year accumulated depn figure. When I run depreciation for Jan-Feb, the figure does not tally with the GL balances as at 28.02.2011.
    For example:
    Fixed Asset Cost: $5,859.00
    In SAP B1
    Depreciation method: Straight-line depreciation
Calculation medthod: Percentage of Acquisition Value
    Percentage: 33.33%
Planned monthly depreciation: $162.77  <-- Not sure how B1 get this figure
Therefore, accumulated depreciation for current year as at 28.02.2011 = $325.54
    Manual via Excel
    Depreciation method: Straight-line depreciation
Calculation medthod: Percentage of Acquisition Value
    Percentage: 33.33%
    Accumulated depreciation for current year as at 28.02.2011=  ($5,859 x 33.33%) / 12 x 2 = $325.47
How do I get the current year depreciation to tie with the GL?

    Hi Joyce,
I understand the issue you are facing is that
accumulated depreciation for current year as at 28.02.2011(calculated by Fixed assets addon) = $325.54,
    but
    accumulated depreciation for current year as at 28.02.2011(calculated by excel)= ($5,859 x 33.33%) / 12 x 2 = $325.47
you want to know how system calculate the accumulated depreciation as $325.54?
in order to make it clear,
please let me know how did you define the FA master data, such as the net book value, useful life, remaing life and so on.
Please check the FA master data->general tab and calculation tab,as it is not possible to attach the screenshot to show the relevant data, please log a SAP message for the further assistance.
    Kind regards,

  • Fixed Asset Sale through SD & AA Module

    Dear All,
While selling the fixed asset, carried out the following procedure. Is it correct?
In India, we need to pay excise. Due to this, the asset which is required to be sold, needs to be created as a material.
Following steps are carried out -
    a) Material code created under Material Type Finished Goods with Sales View. Value of the asset which is to be sold is put in as a Standard Price.
    b) For sale, created inventory of the Finished Goods ( which is created for the asset) by way of Initial upload.

  • Fixed Asset year-end Closing

    Hi!
We are about to execute Fixed Asset Closing (trans code AJAB), which is a pre-requisite before closing FI. What FI closing is this? Is it the trans code S_ALR_87003642 (Open and Close Posting periods) or the F.16 (Balance Carry Forward)?
Also, FI-AA module allows two fiscal years being open. We are following the  Fiscal Calendar period being Dec 2006 is our last month period for year 2006. We are now in new Fiscal Year 2007. Is this means that is it okey not to close Fiscal Year 2006?
    Thanks for your inputs.
    Roberto

    Hi Robert,
AJAB closes the year in the sub-module and prevents postings with assets in it. Also, changes in the depreciation keys and useful lives of the asset doesn't touch posted depreciation in closed year. You have to close the year in the sub-module (AA) before closing it in FI.
You have to close the FI periods in S_ALR_87003642 separately for asset accounts (type A). However, if you close with AJAB, you cannot update asset accounts for closed year as you cannot post with any asset in it.
Transaction code AJRW in AA is analogous to F.16 in FI.
Yes, you may not close 2006 yet as the current year is 2007. But you have to close 2005 already, if you have not done it yet.
    Regards, Lyubomir

  • Question on fixed asset reports

    Hello all,
I work in the real estate accounting department of a large retailer. At quarter/year end we are required to prepare a set of workpapers to support the fixed asset ledger and related P&L accounts. Currently, we are using the following reports:
    To support asset account activity:
S_ALR_87011967 – Asset balances by site
    S_ALR_87012050 – Asset acquisitions
    S_ALR_87012052 – Asset retirements
    S_ALR_87012054 – Intracompany asset transfers
    To support P&L account activity:
    FBL3N – G/L account line items
The problem we are running into is that, for example, impairment losses are processed by retiring all the assets of the company and reacquiring them at the new fair market value. The net difference is the loss on impairment. Unfortunately, it shows up in our reports as a very large retirement followed by a very large acquisition. These need to be netted together on our schedules for the auditors. The problem right now is that we don’t have a good detail report to find impairment retirements/acquisitions, for when we select “list assets” in the retirements or acquisitions report it gives a hierarchical style report, which is almost impossible to export and process in Excel.
So, my question is really twofold. Firstly, is it possible to turn off the hierarchical setting of a retirements or acquisition report when “list assets” is selected? Ideally, I'd like to see all the same data on a single row.
Secondly, my real dream report would be more of a standard general ledger with a beginning balance, activity, and ending balance for the period that I could use for all my balance sheet and P&L accounts. I’ve tried using the FBL3N report for the balance sheet accounts and it works okay, but I haven’t been able to figure out how to get it to show the transaction types from the fixed asset ledger. I read something in another post that talked about using the BWASL field to show the transaction types, but I wasn’t able to locate it in the available fields list. Do I need to do something special when I run the report?
    Thank you so much!

    Hi Andreas,
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!
I thought a custom query would probably be best. I'll need to request access to the transaction before I can try it out, but I'm sure I'll have a bunch more questions to bug you with when I do!
    Thanks again,
    William

  • Error While Running Depreciation in Oracle Fixed Asset

We have uploaded assets in Oracle Fixed Asset from old system successfully.
Now we were to Run depreciation for the first time and
the first process Generate Accounts runs with error,
    APP-OFA-48400: ORA-06550: line 1, column 7:
PLS-00306: wrong number or types of argum
    Number of successes: 0
    Number of failures: 0
Module Generate Accounts ended with error
and all the following processes completes with error.
Please help, what can be the problem?

    Hi
It seems that one of the patch has not been applied properly.
You get this error from the package FA_MASSADD_PKG, so you could put some debug to see where you get it exactly or check the patches where patch includes file FAMAPTB.pls.

  • ABST2 Error while doing Fixed Assets Closing

    Hi,
I've run into an error of 0.01 in account 161370. I need to get past this or write off the difference in order to close the year..
Note: For 2008 Fixed assets closing i have executed ABST2 transaction now in this July-2009.When i execute ABST2,i am getting the below report.
CoCd  Acct no.   Year S  1st local difference
    3000  161370      2009                   0.01-
Differences between assets and G/L accts in the balance carried forward
    Message no. MQ555
    Diagnosis
Differences occurred in the balance carried forward when comparing asset summary records and G/L accounts.
    Procedure
Using program RFEWSBAL, select the accounts for which differences occurred. To do this, proceed as follows:
    1. Changeover package: Active package
    Phase: ANALYZE
    Origin of change: AS
                Proceed
    1. Analyze the accounts containing errors using note 104567.
If the document number field contains the entry "W004", this means that although a difference exists in the balance carried forward, this difference was charged off at the key date. Following local currency changeover, the system adjusts the currency differences at the key date only, but not in the balance carried forward.
If the entry "W004" exists for all affected accounts, the status is set to warning instead of error. If the correction at key date described above proves sufficient, you can continue changing over the local currency without additional adjustments in the previous year.
However, SAP does recommend that you make corrections in the previous year in line with note 104567 since this ensures that the balance carried forward is also reconciled.
