Fixing rows in Numbers

Does anyone know if you can fix a row in numbers? What I mean is this:
I have a table with titles along the top, I want these titles to remain at the top as I scroll dow the table, kinda like a frame in HTML.
Is this possible?
Kai

Note that using a header row does not do what was asked for, which is to have the titles remain at the top as one scrolls down the table. (It does repeat the header row at the top of each page if that option is enabled, but that is not the same thing.)
I believe the requested behavior is not available in the application.

How can I label my rows on numbers so I can keep a running count?
i would like to number from 1 to 150  by highlighting and use a function command
    Dave
                   Name               Address          Email
    Ex      1
              2
              3
              4
              150

Add a column to the left of column A (it will become column A).
Assuming you want to start with the first "name" in Row 2 (and NOT number the header row):
    Two methods:
    1.
    In cell A2, enter =ROW()-1
Grab the Fill Handle (small circle, bottom right of the selected cell) and drag down to fil the formula into the rest of the cells in the column.
If the formula is placed in ALL non-header row cells in the column, it will automatically fill into any rows added to the table.
If rows are inserted or removed, numbers below the inserted/removed row will be automatically adjusted.
    2.
    In cell A2, enter a 1
    In cell A3, enter a 2
    Select both cells.
Grab the Fill Handle and drag down to the rest of the cells in the column.
These are fixed numbers. They will not be automatically filled into new rows added to the table, nor will they automatically update when rows are inserted into the table or removed from the table.
To add more numbers, select the last two cells currently containing numbers, drag the Fill Handle down.

    Barry

    Hi James,
On the iPod I can only insert what is on the clipboard but I can insert however many rows I have there. Is it working differently for you? Benjoon seemed to think that he could not do this in Numbers. He was ruling Numbers out because of it. He doesn't need to do that because of this issue.
If I was needing to insert multiple blank rows often I might keep a table of blank rows or just some blank rows at the end of the working table that I could copy/paste. This is no different than Numbers on the Mac.

  • How to add a row in Numbers

    Hi,
how can I add a row above a certain row in Numbers? I'm trying to insert a row right at the top of my table.
    Thanks
    p.

Tap on the table to expose the selector controls. Tap on the row at the far left (on the control bar to left of the first cell. You should se a menu pop up. tap Insert. If this is done at the first row, you should have the option of selecting a body or header row.

  • How to make numbered rows in Numbers

How do I make numbered rows in Numbers?

    Hi Carol,
It depends on whether you want the numbers to move with the rows if and when you sort, or if you always want the rows numbered top to bottom.
There's a function that returns the row number: ROW(). Placing that in a cell always displays the number of the row. If you want to number once and then let the numnbers follow the data around, you can Fill with a sequence by typing "1" in the first row and "2" in the second row. Then select both cells and drag the Fill handle down the table to extend the series. The fill handle is the little open circle in the lower right corner of the selection.

  • How do I export a specific set of rows from Numbers?

What i am looking to be able to do is
Export a specific set of rows from Numbers
I am working with large files of information
but would like to break the file up into smaller files
    for example
    I have 1 file with 40,000 rows
I need to be able to export/save this file into 4 smaller files
    Rows 1-10,000
    Rows 10,001-20,000
    Rows 20,001-30,000
    Rows 30,001-40,000

I do not think I would use Numbers for this task.
I would duplicate the file (let's say the name is data.txt)
    and name the two files:
    dataA.txt
    dataC.txt
then I would open dataA.txt in TextEdit and delete the last half of the file and save
then I would open dataC.txt in TextEdit and delete the first half of the file and save
then duplicate dataA.txt and name the new file dataB.txt
then duplicate dataC.txt and name the new file dataD.txt
Now open dataA.txt and delete the last half of the file, save
Now open dataB.txt and delete the first half of the file, save
Now open dataC.txt and delete the last half of the file, save
Now open dataD.txt and delete the first half of the file, save
if you did this very often I would suggest a script of some kind

  • Remove Duplicate Rows in Numbers 09

Is there a way to remove duplicate rows in Numbers 09? For example I have 2 Tables and the values of Column A are mainly the same, but there are definitely a few dozen unique values in 1 table which are not in table 2 and visa versa. I'd like to make a new table with a column A with all of the values, but with duplicates removed so that I can then compare the values of a different column based on the value of Column A for each table.

I copied tabeau 1 and tableau 2 in tableau 3 then in cell E2 of tableau 3 I entered the formula:
    =COUNTIF($A$1:$A1,"="&A)
Using fillDown, I filled the column E
I get 0 if the cell a is unique
I get 1 (or higher) if the cell is available several times.
    Sort upon column E
delete the rows whose cell E is not 0.

  • Fixed row in JTable

    Dear All
Does anyone know how to fix a row in a JTable, for example, to fix the bottom row in a JTable, so that users can scroll through the rest of the rows in the table without affecting this row. But when if a column size is changed, it will resize its cell simultaneously.
if you know the answer, please provide sample code as well.
    Thanks in advance
    Ken

    Hi,
to do that, you need an own DataModel in the table, I guess. What is displayed in a cell is asked from the JTable by the getValueAt(...)-method of the datamodel. If you want to fix a row that way, you have to answer this "question" with the right response - that will be not the original cell there but another one while scrolling during a row is fixed.
You also must keep track of the messages that are to be fired to synchronize the display of the table with the answers you return on the getValueAt(...)-method. The "fixing" is a kind of shifting the fixed row in the table, that must be reflected by the messages you have to fire. fireTableDataChanged() would be an idea but that cause rerendering of all the visible cells of the table - other messages are more precise, but you need to do more and have to worry about more things while programming this.
In the case of the bottom line it is possible to use a second JTable in the south of the panel which has only one row - the fixed row - in it - if you discard the header of it, it would look like the row is fixed in the original table, but by using this possibility you must synchronize the changing of the column-width and ofcourse the reordering of columns too done in the original table with the second table. I guess the method in the above paragraph would be the better approach to it.
I have no code for it, but I have tried, to give you a guideline how this can be done.
    greetings Marsian

  • To create a fixed row in the bottom of table and to merge three columns

    Hi,
I have a table displaying some values but is there any way to get a fixed row at the bottom which will sum the values above.
    ie
service   business  jan       feb       mar      april
    table       cut          900       100      100      200
    chair       blade       100        200      300     400
    sum                       1000      300      400    600
so the final row i need it to be constant even if i scroll down the table, this row should be always fixed and visible. and the table data are filled dynamically.. so i dont know the no of rows available as well.
How can I do it. Any insight on it will be helpful.
    Thanks and Regards
    Tenzin

    Hi,
CL_WD_TABLE - >SET_FOOTER_VISIBLE where you can provide that summation in the footer.
As you are calculating the sum there will be the Name for that field to hold summation value right.
Based on the name of that field you can set it to the footer by passing the necessary paramters to that
    method.
How are you filling the table.
    Regards,
    Lekha.

  • Inline figure and fixed-location figure numbering

I would like to move some of the anchored figures in a story to captioned
frames, so that text will flow around them. I'm encountering two problems in doing this:
    1. Figures in the fixed graphics are numbered separately from figures in the main story--their numbering starts at the end of the numbers in the main story.
    2. Footnotes in the fixed figures, go to the bottom of the figure frame instead the bottom of the page.
Have I missed something? Or do I have to do a bunch of manual numbering?

    1. The numbered list that affects your caption paragraph style has the option Continue Numbers Across Stories ON. This causes the paragraphs numbered with the style that uses a numbered list to number sequentially in a given story, then across other stories on the page. A stand-alone frame that contains a caption that uses the style continues the numbering after the last number in the preceding story.
You can fix this by using anchored frames in the main text (story)  for all your graphics container frames. You can adjust the text flow around the anchored frames with Text Wrap.
    2. Footnotes always go to the bottom of the frame their text is in.
Incorporating all the graphics in anchored frames will collect all the footnote texts at the bottom of the single frame that contains them all.
Read about inline anchored frames, custom anchored frames, numbered lists, and footnotes in Help.
