Flash Builder Burrito only for android in terms of mobile development?

Is FB 4.5 only for android?
there's like no option for BlackBerry, Windows 7, or iPhone...
Blackberry had press releases with adobe, a while back but their newest phone the BlackBerry torch doesn't even support flash and it's been atleast 6 months.
Couldn't find anything on Windows 7 about flash or air 2.5 support currently or in the future.
iPhone is a weird one, they let other tools to develop apps FINALLY, but flash doesn't run on iPhone or iPad etc...etc...

So From your post, I'm reading...
Yes to Android
Yes to iPHONE / iPAD
Yes to blackberry tablet but NO blackberry phone?
No to windows 7 phone.

• Deployed Android project using Flash Builder Burrito not working on mobiles

Hi,
I have created a simple "Hello World" Application using Flash Builder Burrito SDK. I have tested the result in the emulator it is working great.
After that i deployed the application using "Export Release Build Option" and entered valid certificate details and created the .apk file. I copied the .apk file into the device and i run the application. Iam unable to run the app. I have tried these in 3 android supported devices and in each of these i am getting different error messages. I have mentioned the device in which i have tested and the error message i got while i tried to install the app (.apk file)
HTC Desire - "Error while parsing the package of the application"
Samsung Galaxy Tab - "Error while parsing the package of the application"
LG Optimus one (LG P500) - "Application not installed"
I have created a New Mobile Project in the flash SDK and added simple label "HELLO WORLD" in the view section.
Before deploying i have installed Adobe AIR 2.5 in the device.
Whether iam missing any of the steps to deploy correctly in the device. If so, please let me know. Also i need to know whether any restrictions are there for applications developed using Flash Burrito Preview Release. (whether by default all android mobile version more than 2.1 will support it?)
Also when i try to install "Tour De Mobile Flex" apk in LG Optimus, it is saying "Device not supported" message.
How do i overcome these problems to run the apk file without any problems.
If you need any other detail please let me know, i will explain it in detail.
Thanks in Advance,
Srinivasan.C

Ok, this is an old post but i still needed a couple of hours to find a solution, so here we go:
- Most likely you have TWO executable build targets in your project (two mxml that you can launch). If so, go to the Project settings > Flex Applications and remove the one you don't need so you only have one.
- My case was a bit complex though - i was using an ANE and Coldfucion server. In this case change the Output folder in the Project Properties > Flex Server > Output folder to something like "temp" instead of "C:..." generated by Flex Builder. The Android device gets confused by a "C:" reference but still can understand a local "temp" folder
I hope i have saved your day

• Flash Builder Burrito Supported Android Phones?

Hi there everyone. I am giong to start building an Android phone via Flash Builder Burrito.
The question I wanted to post is, has any tried developing/debugging an Android application on Burrito and connected it with another phone other than the developer phone offered in the Android Developer Marketspace?

Any Android 2.2 phone should work, and yes, provided you have the drivers for it installed if you are on Windows. We include the USB drivers for all the common supported phones in your Flash Builder Burrito installation at:
<Adobe Flash Builder Burrito Home>\utilities\drivers\android\
Refer to the documentation that came with Flash Builder Burrito for instructions on installing the drivers.
Also, if you run into any other problems with a particular Android 2.2 device, please let us know!
thanks,

• How to Setup Flash Builder ActionScript only project for iPad?

Hello!
Can someone give a short guide on how to setup an ActionScript only prject in flash builder such that it can be compiled using adt and deployed to the iPad?
i created successfully iphone games using FlashIDE and PFI.
now I'd like to create an iPad app using Flash Builder (ActionScript only). but I fail to load the compiled IPA to the ipad, keep getting different errormessages thus i think something with my projectsetup is wrong

Yes, in Terminal you type a single line which is made from the path to the adt application, some parameters, and paths to other documents. Here's the full list of things:
/Location/to/AdobeAIRSDK_2.6/bin/adt
-package
-target ipa-test
-provisioning-profile /Location/to/Provision.mobileprovision
-storetype pkcs12
-keystore /Location/to/Certificates.p12
-storepass password
NameOfApp.ipa ApplicationDescriptor-app.xml
-C /Location/to/swf  NameOfApp.swf
splashscreens
icons
That "-C" line is clever, it does a directory change to the folder you give it, so after the -C /location/to/swf part it will then look in that same folder for other documents, and for where to build the IPA file.

• Flash Builder Burrito 'unable to resolve ... for transcoding' error css file

Hi,
I am trying to dip my toes into the waters of mobile development with the preview release of flash builder burrito.
I am doing so by trying to port over an application I have built in Flash Builder 4 for the web, by bringing it into a mobile app piece by piece, using the view stack struture peculiar to mobile apps.
I am haivng an issue with my untouched css file that I am trying to use in the app. It's a direct copy from the other app in the same directory structure and yet I have declarations of embedded images of the form:
.topLogo {
url: Embed(source="assets/images/header-logo.png");
Which continually cause:
unable to resolve '/assets/css/assets/images/header-logo.png' for transcoding Flex Style Problem
errors.
It is drving me utterly nuts. The images are there, and if I change the path to an invalid one I get a proper error in the editor, so it IS resolving them, but then these transcoding errors come up and seem to be triggering repeatedly as the problems pane keeps taking the focus away from the editor.
It's driving me nuts.
Anyone know if I've missed something?

Problem solved by turning off Design View (which we never use anyway, useless thing for OO style programming), it's on by default with a new install of Flash builder.
The mobile app looks promising, just waiting on a developer license to see how it goes on an iPad

• I get some trouble exporting mobile application with Android Adobe Flash Builder Burrito

Hi, eveybody.
I make a simple mobile application with Adobe Flash Builder Burrito, and it works well on windows.
Then I want to export it as a .apk and install on android emulator. But I failed. I got some messages as follow:
E:\android\a\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools>adb install Twitter.apk
594 KB/s (875316 bytes in 1.437s)
pkg: /data/local/tmp/Twitter.apk
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_INVALID_APK]
Then, I download the AdobeAIRSDK2.6, unzip, and copy the files to the sdk(D:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder Burrito\sdks\4.5.0).
I change <application xmlns=http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/2.5> to <application xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/2.6">.
Then It can't export it as a .apk...
Thanks!

Thanks.
But why I can't export a .apk as I update the sdk to air2.6?

• Flex mobile 4.6 app works inside flash builder but not in android emulator

Originally posted on stackoverflow: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8663892/flex-mobile-4-6-app-works-inside-flash-builder- but-not-in-android-emulator
I have a basic flex mobile 4.6 app and it works fully fine in the flash builder built-in emulator using an android device profile like aria...
It also launches fine in the android emulator but one particular view shows blank (and this view works fine in flash builder).
Before I get in to many details of the view are there any categorical gotchas that can be causing this?
I can't seem to get the trace statements from the app to show in 'adb logcat'. It seems I need to compile a debug version of the apk but I don't know how to do this. I use the 'Export Release Build' from the Project menu in flash builder and it doesn't seem to have an option for debug=true.
The problematic/blank view basically uses the stagewebview and iotashan's oauth library to call linkedin rest apis... A different (and working) view can make restful web service calls in the emulator fine, so it doesn't seem to be an internet permission.
The source code contained in the problematic/blank view is almost identical to the tutorial found at:http://www.riagora.com/2011/01/air-and-linkedin/
The differences are: a) The root tag is a View b) I use StageWebView instead of HtmlContainer c) I use my own linkedin key and tokens.
I would appreciate it if someone can provide me with some pointers on how to troubleshoot this situation. Perhaps someone can tell me how to debug the app while running in the emulator (I think I need the correct adt command arguments for this which matches the 'Export Release Build' menu but adds the debug param?)
Thanks for your help in advance.
Comment Added:
I suspect that this has to do with connections to https:// api.linkedin.com and https:// www.linkedin.com. The only reason I can think of that the same code is not having issues inside of Flex Builder but indeed having issues in the Android emulator is something to do with certificates. Any ideas?

Thanks er453r,
I have created a project that clearly reproduces the bug. Here are the steps:
1) Create a UrlLoader and point it to https://www.google.com (HTTPS is important because http works but HTTPS does not)
2) Load it
3) Run in Flash Builder 4.6/Air 3.1 and then run in Android emulator. The former works with an http status 200. The latter gives you an ioerror 2032. I am assuming what works in Flash Builder is supposed to work in the Android Emulator and what what works in the emulator is supposed to work in a physical device (plus or minus boundary conditions).
I see a certificate exception in adb logcat but not sure if it's related...
Here is the self contained View code which works with a TabbedViewNavigatorApplication:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<s:View xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"

• A puzzle game using Flash Builder Burrito

I used the Flash Builder Burrito and AIR 2.5.1 to build a simple puzzle game for the Android market. It is called 'Ramanujam's Magic Square' and is live. Performance on Galaxy S is as good at it can be with a native app. considering that the puzzle is about number crunching.
Here is the pic:

it's ok, I figured it out.

• Flash Builder Burrito, Random Crash in Debug Build

Hello:
I have been working with Flash Builder Burrito for about a week. When I publish it to the Xoom device in debug mode, it will crash at random. When I publish it as a normal build, it works great.
I'm not sure if it's actually a crash or it loses the Wi-Fi connection to the device and just quits out?
I get no errors to the Debug window when it just random quits the app.
I would suggest it's a coding error but it is just sitting at a simple MXML screen and not doing anything in the background. Plus it works when I do a normal build with out the Debug console.
My guess is there is a packet loss or something and it quits out?

This is a bug in AIR on the Xoom device. As you pointed out it only happens when debugging. We're aware of the issue and working on a fix, you can track the progress on this bug: http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FB-30457

• Flash builder burrito

hello
I'm are using the flash builder burrito
to make a few test's for android aplications.
So my questions are
When the final release for the burrito whe will be able to buid aplications without adobe air requeriment?
I ask that because on samples that i made not just one works because my android phone have a arm6 processor, so i think that
aplications made on burrito just will work on the smartphones with arm7 processor because the air request, is correct?
Sorry for my english
Many thanks

Hi Chris,
The Burrito Preview installs to a different directory than your existing FB4 installation, by default, so there should be no conflict there. Also, it accepts the same Serial Number you have for FB4 if you purchased FB4 as an individual product.
If you purchased FB4 as part of a CS5 Suite, there will be a site available you can use to obtain a Preview SN for Burrito, but you can still use Burrito in Trial mode until that is available.

• Flash Builder Burrito - Enabled Geolocation in running device?

Hi, I am developing a simple app that will show user's geolocation in the map.
I use code like this:
protected function view1_creationCompleteHandler(event:FlexEvent):void
if( Geolocation.isSupported )
g = new Geolocation();
g.setRequestedUpdateInterval(100);
if( g.muted )
// Don't do anything if device's sensor is muted.
return;
g.addEventListener(GeolocationEvent.UPDATE,geoLocation_UpdateHandler,false,0,true);
Then I modified application.xml in project like this (following Ryan Strewart's video in Adobe TV):
<android>
<manifestAdditions><![CDATA[
<manifest android:installLocation="auto">
<!-- See the Adobe AIR documentation for more information about setting Google Android permissions -->
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET"/>
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE"/>
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION"/>
<uses-configuration android:reqFiveWayNav="true"/>
<supports-screens android:normalScreens="true"/>
<uses-feature android:required="true" android:name="android.hardware.touchscreen.multitouch"/>
</manifest>
]]></manifestAdditions>
</android>
Then I use Flash Builder Burrito to install and run application into device. The Geolocation object is muted. Even I turn on all geolocation setting. An interesting thing is, Geolocation is work in Flex de tour Mobile application.
I use Samsung Galaxy S with Froyo 2.2

I was able to test the Geolocation object successfully on a Motorola Droid using the following code:
GeoTest1.mxml:

• Build iOS app with Flash Builder Burrito.

I have some Android apps built with Flash Builder Burrito that I want to deploy on iOS.
Can it work?
How?
Is the folowing working ? StageOrientationEvent and StageWebView Class
Best regards,

Solved it. Just added the following in the <InfoAdditions> tag for iPhone in my app descriptor XML file:
<key>UIRequiredDeviceCapabilities</key>

• How can I use a file in flash cs6 that I made in flash cs5.5 air for android

I have made an app in in air for android in flash cs5.5 air for android, and I want to edit it in cs6 and play it in cs6.
But if I put Ctrl+Enter I got an error: createWin process failed with error 2: system couldn't find the file. I think the problem is that I'am using air for android 2.6 version in flash cs5.5 and version 3.2 in flash cs6. I have searched the web and found out that you can add older air versions using the sdk manager and I have tried it but first I get the error that the version of the sdk I am trying to install is not valid and after some files that I added to the sdk folder I get this error:Only SDK higher than version 3.4.2540 may be added.
I there a possible way to update the air for android for an fla or apk? Or how can I let my originally file work fine in flash cs6??

system couldn't find the file
If you can´t get a more specific hint why your project can´t compile then I can think of some reasons theis error might occur
1.You had files included besides the swf, like videos, audio files, xml files, that are not present in the place air expects them to be
2.somewhere in your createWin functions there is a class import needed that isn`t present in 3.2 anymore, for example some classes or functions from classes that were valid in 2.6 are not any more in 3.2
3. to achieve better eror logging, allow for debugging in the publishing options and see what specific lines in your code throw the error
4.any air app needs a cert file, this needs to be created once, if you migrated to e new system it might be you never created that file which air expects to even begin the compiling process
once you isolate the problem, report back

• How to use Flex SDK 4.0.0 in Flash Builder Burrito?

Hello!
How can I create a project with Flash Builder Burrito that builds against the Flex 4.0 SDK? I tried to copy the 4.0.0 sdk folder over from my Flash Builder 4 installation, but if I create a new project in burrito, it still offers me only choice between 3.5 and 4.5
what else do I have to do?

Did you configure it in Window / Preferences / Flash Builder / Installed SDKs?

• When Flash Builder 4.6 for PHP is released will it support AIR 3.2 ???

We've all been waiting a long time since last November's Private Beta of Flash Builder 4.6 which was released shortly thereafter, for the Flash Builder 4.6 for PHP version.
However, Flash Builder 4.6 for PHP (The one with Zend Studio included in it) is scheduled for 2012 - Q1 release, meaning?
I guess, at the latest March 31st.
This is significant, because AIR 3.2 is Great, but it will Live or Die based on what happens, I believe, in the next year, the new demo with the 2 geniuses at Adobe, Lee Brimelow and Thibault Imbert, which essentially ARE the driving intellectual force behind AIR, make me feel more comfortable than the management at Adobe,

So, when FB 4.6 for PHP is released, will it support AIR 3.2?
There's another thing, there are a ton of job offerings for iOS 5 or Android Java, but no AIR (very few and the damage control fromthe eff'ed up press release is still meandering).
Adobe needs to compliment its consumer base and developer base, with a Developer Network for Corporate integration so there are contracts out there for us who live between our dream ideas and meals, by doing contracting work, and it'd be nice to do it in Flash Builder 4.6 instead of taking on an iOS 5 or Android Java or PhoneGap project. At least for Gamers.

I'm shooting for the Social Gaming, and I like what I see in the above video.
But again, people have to pay bills, why doesn't Adobe reach our to Corporations for certified developers like Mickysoft and Apple?

I worked it out in the end - I had to uninstall FB4.5 and reboot. Why couldn't the installation say so instead of just crashing? I found this out, by the way, by trying to run the installer created under c:\program files(x86)\adobe\adobe flash builder 4.6. That one told me at least that I had to uninstall a previous version, though even then it was coy about which one
